Avdiivka, Ukraine
Avdiivka after the Russian occupation.
The city was completely destroyed by the Russian army.
Putin calls this “help for the people of Donbass.” In fact, this is genocide of the people of Donbass.

after two long years Ukraine is making major gains even after a massive slog in the south, it's the first major land invasion of Russia since the second world war! The funny thing is that Ukraine is abiding by international standards and not committing war crimes, not only that but there has been no major protests nir armed resistance against Ukraine troops in the kurk region and my best guest is that any people who would have fought are evacuating but then why wouldn't they do anything something like Ukraine citizens did during the invasion of their territory? With all that said however this is a major advantage for Ukraine for PR and negotiations, any talk going forward are no longer about begging but real negotiations since Russia risks losing territory. Wjth the November US election this kursk offensive this might also impact military aid in a positive way, despite pro-russia pundits crying about Ukraine's use of western weapons.

Destroyed Russian T-80BV main battle tank, Luhansk region, Ukraine, April 16, 2023. Source: Naalsio26
P.S. Now the main attention of the mass media is on the Middle East, but we must not forget that the Russian imperialists continue to commit war crimes in Ukraine

Anniversary of the fall of Königsberg. >Re image 2: POV, you just woke up. The anniversary was actually April 9th, but Tuesdays are so chaotic for me I didn't get around to posting. Now would be a good time for you to go and research the history of the city and it's destruction. The subject of Königsberg should not be used to stoke division, it is the tragic, shared legacy of many European peoples, may we hold hands and morn losses on all sides.
Description of Image 1: Three Prussian Officer Cadets and a junior Lieutenant gather outside of Königsberg Castle, wearing walking out dress, in April 1908. Characters are from my pre-wwi Prussian Officer Cadet drama, Moth. Their names from left to right: Vincent Odinkirk, Leon von Zelewski, Siegfried Isenstein, Gottlieb Witt. Description of Image 2: The same view of the castle, but in April 1945. Three crosses represent the deaths of the comrades in the first image. A Soviet has crawled out from a burning tank and is screaming to be put out of his misery. The Script of Moth, to which these Illustrations relate, does not continue beyond the 1920's. And so, this is likely to be my first and last piece of wwii art. The two images are 37 years and 2 world wars apart, but the castle and the surviving German officer, are meant to lend permanence to the composition. This is the destruction of his home.

The "cyborgs" stood - the concrete did not
Tumblr media
On this day in 2014, the battle for Donetsk airport began - Ukrainian troops drove Russian militants out of both airport terminals. The heroic defense of the DAP terminals by Ukrainian "cyborgs" lasted 242 days.

Return of the "Iskra" unit from the Donetsk airport on May 26, 2014. From top left: Alexey Yurin, a soldier of the 45th Special Forces Regiment of the Russian Airborne Forces. The Russian "Iskra" unit after the battle on May 26 in the morgue of the Kalinin hospital in Donetsk.
If you are ready and want, you can see the dead russian soldiers. The link to the info and photos I left on the first photo. I was 14 back then and remember how relieved I felt to see the evil killed. I will never forget that titanic fight. At the start of this battle, I still was in Donetsk and was living with my grandma who home near Pisky. I heard it myself, I can tell it feels almost mythical how Ukrainian warriors heroically stood back then and it was on our own.

"Recent images of the sole An-225 Mriya show the aircraft being dismantled, reportedly for storage and eventual repair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The deputy CEO of Antonov, Maksym Sanotskyi, told the German media outlet Deutsche Welle in April 2023 that three of the An-225's six engines were repaired, and two went to the An-124 fleet as spares — something particularly helpful to Ukraine in the ongoing war effort."
Tumblr media
At the time, Antonov said there was 'about 30% of components that can be used for the second sample.'

CNN reported Antonov was trying to restore one of the wings, while the Times reported the company was in talks with aviation companies in Europe, the US, and Asia.
'The aircraft will be equipped with modernized engines,' Valerii Kostiuk, an Antonov designer, told CNN in April. 'New electronic on-board equipment will be installed on the plane. Well-known companies will be involved.'
