listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

"Alright, you're resume looks good. I see that you graduated top of your class, re-wrote your professor's youngling theory, and are writing a paper about youngling development with an emphasis on humans."

"Yes, I am so very eager to add my experience working here to my paper!" grinned the ledintit, their mandibles clicking together in excitement.

"Well we look forward to having you but given your background we need to conduct a final test."

"I am most certain I will not pass your test but set a new record for it!" they took out a pen and began to clear the interview table.

"Oh, this isn't a written test-"

"Field test? Of course, shall I show you the theory I re-wrote in practice? Wait, what's the situation? Injured youngling? Teaching? Academy or wisdom?"

"Vibe check." the human smiled.

"...what is a v-eye-bub check?"

"It's simple really. Max? Send them in." the door opens and in walks two younglings. "This is Oscar, human, and Anwred ... well we forget what he is but he's part wilko." the two little one's peer up at the ledintit curiously and shyly. "Now, the test is to approach them. Introduce yourself and try to talk to them."

"...that's it?"

"That's is." nods the human.

"No theories? No scenario? Just introduction? ...very well." sighs the alien getting up and walking towards them.

"Ahem, I am Bex, how do you do?"

"..." "..."

"...I am a graduated student of the coalition's teaching program, specifically from the youngling program. I will soon be your new teacher, how does that make you feel?"

"..." "..."

"Speechless? I have that effect on many. Perhaps you would like to tell me what you are learning? Writing? Reading? Perhaps you have a favorite story, I had a favorite story growing up. I could read it to you if you have it in your classroom." the adult smiled at them.

"..." "..."

"They do speak yes? ...listen, it is not polite to not answer. Here, come, let me get a better look at you-"

"NoOoo..." whines Anwred scooting closer to Oscar. "...dun ike..."

"...I beg your pardon?"

"Anwred doesn't like to be grabbed...he's little. He's only three." the little human holds up three fingers. "And...and I like spider-man."

"Spider...man...I'm afraid I don't know that one-"

"He's a superhero and is really strong! Can you tell me a spider-man story?"

"I repeat, I don't know that story-"

"Can he be fighting the Rhino! Oh, oh and Benom! And Batman helps him!"

"I don't know spider-man!" the ledintit hisses, mandibles chattering. "...ahem...I am afraid I do not know him."

The younglings stare at the adult and the adult stares back. For a moment is all quiet before Anwred huffs, sneezes, and then huffs again.

"Go!" the little wilko mix whines scooting back behind Oscar again.

"I beg your pardon??"

"Anwred doesn't like you...teacher. Miss Kim. Can you tell us a spider-man story? And then ninja turtles after! Anwred you like ninja turtles right?"

"Ye! I ike owrange." the youngling wags his tail.

"Mikey is the orange one. Anwred likes him."

"I am aware." nods the human adult. "And mister Max will tell you one because right now I need to talk to Bex, okay?" she motions for her co-worker to open the door for the two children.

"Aw, okay. Come on Anwred." the younglings leave the room.

"...did I fail the vibe check?" sheepishly asked Bex.

"Unfortunately you did." Kim nodded with an apologetic smile.

"...I didn't mean to come off as hostile to them." they drooped sadly.

"Oh you weren't I would have shut it down if you were. It wasn't hostility that they sensed, it was...whether or not you're teacher material."

"I had no idea humans could do such a thing."

"And wilkos, Anwred sensed it too. I think its a youngling thing."

"Wilkos sense hostility, I studied them in my studies-but he wasn't acting hostile...perhaps it's a side effect of being partially raised by humans?" chattered the ledintit.

"Oh we're not raising him-!"

"Human caregivers, human pack members, human media-oh I must add this to my paper! The impact of human culture in other species' upbringings! Good bye miss Kim, thank you for this breakthrough!" and with that Bex was racing out the door.

"...your welcome? ...next interviewee!"

Got reminded of what Pili 2 once said after the conversation Ace had with Pangi. Just something about how Pili knows or can sense that he might be getting manipulated or used but he himself wants to fall for it and play dumb. His feelings are strong enough to forget the harmful intentions of simply being a pawn in the game and the other person not reciprocating what he himself wants, despite knowing he doens't stop those feelings.

This is why I consider him as someone who always has the most strongest feelings in every relationship he has. Some might say Mocha left Pangi but there was obviously more to that story. Even the whole deal of pushing him away was protect him. And there are a whole lot of other instances where he held back from being selfish, doing what he really wanted to do because of his feelings towards other people (Zam, Foolish and now Pangi).

Pili has kinda been someone who bottles up and just lets himself spiral on his own, at some level he also doens't wish to inconvenience other people by telling things that are really bothering him. But can't blame that liitle guy either because when he did tell things like that one time he told Zam about how rudely Ros had spoken to him what came to him in return was well..not great or ideal. And now it's him with Pangi and trying his best to not be selfish because the person he has feelings for has eyes for someone else. Seeing a pattern here-

"I can be selfish and not do kills like rest of my faction but I am gonna shoulder that responsibility"

"I don't want this person to get hurt because of me so I am gonna push them away"

"Don't want to let someone else take a bullet for me because don't want them to get hurt. I can take it because i can't die but they can't"

"i am gonna hold back (from spreading corruption) and be nice because of this person"

"I am not gonna spread corruption in ice castle and yellow castle because they don't deserve it"

"I am not gonna manipulate someone to be in my team despite the fact that I am alone and could use help and power. I am gonna let them decide if they want to align with me or not. I am looking for willing teammates"

"I have feelings for him and want him for myself alone but i can't be selfish. If a promise with me might be making him lose friends then I am just gonna free him from that, he can lose me"

And you would think this was where the list ended but no there is so much, like genuinely so much more I can add where him being even slightly more selfish would have helped him but he didn't. He isn't innocent but when it comes to feelings he can't help himself from doing things that he probably shouldn't do.

In a way he reminds me of Foolish, just falling headfirst into things and letting the winds stear him in directions rather then worrying about what the intentions are and what might be the consequence. If Ros was rude he thinks about leaving yellow, if Owen might be using him for his plans he says he would let himself get willingy manipulated and despite knowing Pangi doesn't share the feelings he had towards him he doesn't stop. He just let those feelings be used and is willing enough to play dumb because of those feelings. But maybe that's just part of "time being a cruel friend", you can't get hurt either way, the word danger or betrayel or grudges has no room to exist when time is infinite, the best thing you can do is let those feelings flow until the other person is no longer around you.

as a cis butch lesbian the way people talk about trans women on this site is uncomfortably familiar, and extremely telling - so many people who tout themselves as gender rebels or queer activists still view trans women as inherently more masculine than cis women. the femmiest trans girl youve seen in your life will still get the same "step on me mommy" treatment that so many cis butch lesbians are subjected to, just because shes trans. even in allegedly progressive queer spaces, women cannot escape violent sexual objectification, yet we are expected to ignore it and pretend everything is fine so we dont upset "solidarity" with the people (often men lets be real, trans or otherwise) who are hurting us and dehumanizing us, WHILE solidarity between different groups of queer women remains weak. divided we are vulnerable, only through solidarity and love and mutual respect can we protect and uplift each other.

hey i found a super easy way to level up stealth in kcd2, just find a bandit or two that are walking on the road at night (there's 2 really strong ones at rocktower pond) and crouchwalk behind them until they walk off the map, i went from level 5 up to level 30 in like half an hour max, it's CRAZY effective

I gotta say I absolutely love the inclusion of everyday New Yorkers in those mini interviews in Daredevil: Born Again because it feels like I’m in the city verbatim.

As a New Yorker, I’ve heard these sentiments line for line. Specifically the lady at 33:38 perfectly expressed a commonly heard thought. It kinda felt like a gut punch with how accurate it was to how people feel like the city’s accountability has gone down especially in long time situations such as the subway for example.

People are scared and when people are tired of being scared, it allows sentiments to rise, dangerous and non and the show has very accurately depicted this so far with all the variety of opinions they’ve highlighted.

The way Fisk was highlighted was an absolute representation of real life and what causes some men to rise to power and I’m very impressed with the show and man I can’t wait for next week.

We have been working on desensitization bc he is friendly and darling and great on leash and harness but is also a bit of a fraidy cat at time

In the past week we went from “what is that CONTRAPTION I need to be six feet away peeking at it around a corner” (bc he is fraidy but also curious) to “oh I will let you put me in the contraption so you can feed me treats and love me” to “oh we can take jaunty little rides around the kitchen in the contraption for short periods!”

Meanwhile child is jealous and I will walk into the kitchen to find her already nestled into it looking at me like “what likes it’s hard?”

and now they are staging mini competitions over who gets to be in the stroller that has caused at least one tipping incident

OH YEAH. okay one thing I DO want to talk about from Skyfall. That I think we should be talking about more. is the "he went into the priest hole for TWO (2) DAYS" thing.

I had like. known that was A Thing, but ig didn't see or forgot what it looked like. but the first look at it I was like. whoa. this is.... how do I say. like there's something visceral and primal and primitive about it just being bare rock. and I made a comment about how insane that is, and esp seeing the mine/cave-like rock and the thought of TWO DAYS down there.. that it's sth "like returning to some sort of primordial earthly womb (tomb)"

but then later they showed that the priest hole is NOT just like a bolthole. but a whole-ass tunnel system!!! EXTRA wild! what was Bond doing down there? WHERE exactly was he in the priest hold then? Was he hunkered down in some corner? Was he wandering around the caves like some sort of primordial spectre.

also there's something interesting/cool about it being like. seemed like it was just going to be a bolthole, and then they revealed it was this whole-ass tunnel system. Skyfall has a lot of maze/hidden/hiding symbolism, and there's something interesting about there being this, like. hidden earthly labyrinth at the heart/hearth/underneath Skyfall.

also the idea of baby Bond wandering a stone labyrinth under the very bones of his ancestral home after the death of his parents... and the whole when he came out he wasn't a boy anymore or whatever it was exactly Kincade said.... hmmm......... Minotaur? Minotaur vibes perhaps? I think there is something here- I think there's something to be said about hidden monstrosity/adversity bringing out monstrosity in us, plus the whole nature/nurture question of like, Bond and HIS "nature," was he born brutal or was he made brutal

(by his career, by his forging as a 00 agent, by M's machinations-- speaking of machinations. but okay god the way she. Manages him... I DO think there's a lot of interesting parts throughout the movies but there was a particular moment in Skyfall when she was like. hunt them down. for Ronson. like ggngng that was like. the emotional equivalent of those loop/stick leashes they use to capture stray dogs.... lowering the loop around his neck and tightening... and then once it's tightened she can move him around cuz it's a stick and not just a rope leash, she can literally physically lead him...) (and also the nature/nurture question of Silva's rats thing)

darry i don’t think he’s doing so good. he hasn’t said a word since he was beggin the social worker lady not to take us the other night. and i don’t think he’s eating either and it’s realy bothering the adders. ponyboy keeps getting that far off look in his eyes and the adders keep looking at him like he’s sick or crazy. i’ve tried telling them he’s not crazy but i overheard them whispering about taking pones to a doctor.

he doesn’t need a doctor, dar, he needs to go home. he didn’t even like sleeping at grandmas, he’s never been away from home for a whole week! are you still coming to get us?

i like the adders and i think they like me but i think they’re getting tired of ponyboy. you hafta talk to him darry. ms adders keeps calling the social worker lady and i think they want to take him to the boys home but they can’t. they’ll eat him alive in there, you have to do something darry we wanna come back home.

It's easy to interpret animals evolving into niches as like. Finding premade holes made just for them. But that isn't accurate. It's like saying an animal is in a burrow it evolved to fit — no, it ripped the ground out to make a hole shaped in its image. They alter the ecological landscape, as part of that landscape. The niche doesn't "exist" until the animal in question evolves into it. Like... Parasites don't evolve to parasitize specific species because THOSE SPECIFIC SPECIES had an available niche, some weakness or special meat others didn't; it's more like a lot of Chance. Things don't evolve x way because they're like water flowing into every available predetermined crevice basically. They evolve because they want to replicate their genes. If they are ABLE to survive and reproduce, they will, even with some stupid limitation like needing to parasitize a different specific parasitoid wasp or whatever because their parents were parasites but there are other parasites competing for the same resources and you happen to have some mutation that allows you to or drives you to target the competitors as the resource instead... It's not perfect, even though it can become incredibly precise when it comes to efficiency and instinct and adaptations to said niche, and so on. It's just what worked. And what didn't work, was culled
