Welcome to the first and terrible installment of Roses’ rants! (Not really a rant but uhh… just some yapping)

My opinions on the “Anti Piastri” thing!

Well it… sucks in my opinion. yeah sure, Oscar may not be the best driver ever. But I do feel like it’s useless to make an entire tag based on just blatantly hating on a driver for stuff he was basically ordered to by McLaren, same with Lando.

Honestly, for me “anti piastri” is basically just a tag created by Lando fangirls on either tumblr or heck even the official McLaren discord server who decided to replicate Team LH’s Abu Dhabi 2021 meltdown, except switch it with Hungary 2024. Which honestly is giving us Lando fans a bad wrap

This claim personally bothers me, yes Oscar did win the Grand Prix by team orders, in which brings me to say this. Don’t hate the driver, hate the team, yes, I wholeheartedly agree with what I just said, don’t hate Oscar piastri for McLarens’ very poor team orders since Oscar can’t control what happens up with the strategists, and it’s not like he was on the radio saying “I want the win” because well- let’s be honest, when has a driver ever said that? Seriously, that’s not something he or anyone could say.

To be honest (I’m gonna bring in Team LH again) anti piastri’s version of Abu Dhabi 2021 is Hungary 2024, there’s pretty much nothing we can do now about the race (this part of my yappering is pretty much bad I’m sorry)

(I don’t feel like writing more of this right now since I wanna eat dinner so I’ll end it off here, but if you want more reasonings to why I don’t approve of anti piastri please slip into my dms and fight me over it because this is just- childish, also if I got anything wrong please let me know, I’m tired and I had honestly a shit day and this thing didn’t make it better for me)

I never get fanfics that needs Izuku to not use "Kacchan" to call Katsuki. I mean sure, he can call him Katsuki but-

Kacchan.

I think it's a preference to me for fics to have Izuku keep calling Katsuki, Kacchan for the rest of their life while Katsuki.. calls him what ever he wants-

As long as Kacchan is uttered by Izuku, I am happy

ANOTHER SONIC DREAM

You know how people are always saying how they have the most vivid dream where they fall in love with someone or they have a child and it's so realistic and when they wake up they're devastated because it wasn't actually real?

That happened to me this morning. But of course it wasn't about a person or a baby or what have you. It was about Sonic lol.

I dreamt I was rewatching episodes of Sonic Boom, and during my marathon there was an episode I hadn't seen before. In it, Sonic was really sick and groggy but he refused to get any rest. This of course made him only more tired, groggy and dazed. But that's our stubborn boy, right?

So anyway, during the battle Amy does what she always does, kick Badnick-butt. And maybe because Sonic is a little loopy, he gets overly enthusiastic about it

Then unexpectedly he just rushes Amy and full on kisses her!

And in my dream I'm screaming, I can't believe I'm watching this! The kiss is so comedically romantic and over the top, too. The background fades out, Sonic and Amy are floating and spinning, Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" is playing, Badniks are flying in slow motion in the background and exploding into fireworks.

Then the shot fades to reveal that Sonic was JUST HALLUCINATING BECAUSE HE'S SO ILL AND GOT BRAIN FOG

But it didn't matter! It was a super well animated kiss in the Sonic show and in my dream I'm like "WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS? WHY AREN'T THERE GIFS OF THIS? WHAT WHAT WHAT" and so I rush on to tumblr to scream about it with you all.

AND THEN I WAKE UP. IT WAS A DREAM. A DREAM!!!

The real tragedy of TGWDLM is that Paul was minutes away from being carried off the island.

Emma has a pole through her thigh. Even assuming that the pole is helping stop the bleeding, she had like max fifteen minutes to live without medical care. Not to mention the internal bleeding; she is coughing up blood. She's either going to bleed out or drown in her blood, whichever comes first.

The scene after the helicopter crash is about three minutes long already. Emma was likely saved sometime within the next five minutes after Paul left.

Think about that. If he had stuck around for five more minutes, he would've gotten off the island. I can just imagine Emma realizing the PEIP is here, and screaming Paul's name because she knows he's about to go on a suicide mission. But he's too far away. He can't hear her.

Was there every any hope for Dream and Nightmare?

Could they have stayed in their universe, stayed together, stayed happy?

Maybe. But somehow, I can't see it, at least not after the village comes into the picture. They might have been able to stay in their own little bubble forever, but as soon as that outside force exists, the clock starts ticking.

It was Nightmare who couldn't take it anymore. But it could have easily been Dream. Either way, it was only a matter of time. I don't think there was any avoiding it, not really. Not in their situation, not with who they are.

Nightmare. The scapegoat, the dark one, the moon, the night. Tied to his brother by his very name, because even though he wasn't a nightmare, he's Dream's opposite, and that is all he was ever seen as by others. The dark to Dream's light, the negativity to Dream's positivity. Always defined by his brother, even before he was hurt for merely existing. Did he ever really get to be his own person?

And Dream, the golden one, the perfect one, the kind one, the sun. Always so helpful and positive. Always in demand, because who doesn't want to be happy? Their happiness is his responsibility. So he smiles, he helps, he conceals all the stress and sadness and anger and grief. He can't be seen with negative emotions, he can't effect others with his own feelings, he can't let his own feelings or needs or self matter when there's always other people who need him. So he keeps up that sunshine mask, keeps all the clouds and rain and storms locked in the dark where nobody can see them.

You can't maintain masks like that under enough built-up pressure. Eventually, something breaks.

Maybe they still had a chance. Broken things can heal, after all. Maybe they could have helped each other, grown, figured out a way to make things better.

Or maybe they were doomed from the start.

All I know is that if one didn't break, the other would have eventually.

i saw a similar post on Twitter to this and decided to ask someone else on what they thought

let me tell you I almost started crying

so many people emphasize the importance of mental health representation in fiction, & i completely agree. likewise, many feel sympathy for characters showing typical symptoms of mental illness—the ones that are often talked about openly, such as feeling nervous & sad.

but what about the characters showing more stigmatized symptoms? the behaviours that are complicated, the trauma responses that aren’t talked about often?

countless steven universe fans refer to pearl as “insane” for being self-sacrificing. but they say this without acknowledging the fact that she was carrying many distressing secrets at the time & she grew up in a society where all pearls were seen as replaceable, inferior objects.

rose is impulsive & she lies often, which many fans quickly label as “malicious,” ignoring the anxiety, self-hatred, guilt, & trauma that may have influenced her habits & behaviours.

pearl & rose had a mutually codependent relationship with a handful of other ongoing issues, & therefore some people claim that “they never loved each other.” some say rose’s unstable relationships are because she’s “incapable of love,” completely missing the fact that she was a very loving person who didn’t love herself.

pearl is called “petty” for flaunting her relationship with rose in we need to talk. but what if showing off her boldness was easier than admitting her fear of being replaced—just like being extra intimidating on the battlefield forced homeworld gems to take her seriously instead of laughing at her for being “just a pearl”? talking about her insecurities likely made pearl feel as small as she did on homeworld.

unhealed wounds don’t just hurt the person—they can hurt others & strain relationships too.

this doesn’t mean we should excuse everything pearl & rose have done or claim they’ve done nothing wrong

that’s harmful in its own way; we shouldn’t say that those actions are positive & don’t need to be worked on in any way.

at the same time, these issues don’t make them bad people, they’re just… people

that’s why i love them.

they displayed all kinds of trauma responses & symptoms of mental illnesses, not just the ones that are discussed often or stereotypical or considered “acceptable.”

lots of us look back at the times when we were struggling & we regret a lot of the things we did. it’s important to recognize when we were wrong so we can grow & take accountability, but it’s also important to have self-compassion & understand that many of those regrettable actions were reflections of our pain, not our character. this is why we regret them & why growth is possible. this is why we can say that we are filled with love that we’ve always had—it’s just difficult to properly show that love when we’re not only filled with pain, but overwhelmed by it.

i have so much compassion for pearl + rose. they’re both extremely caring & strong and they have so much love for each other—that’s who they are. their pain is also very complex & they have mental health struggles. nothing is glorified, nothing is brushed aside, and their healing is nonlinear & just as complicated as everything they’ve been through. i think that’s amazing. having empathy for characters like pearl and rose can make you learn a lot about yourself.

they’re not meant to be angels or villains—they’re meant to be something much better: complicated & relatable

What gets me is that Feyre genuinely believes all High Lords should aspire to be like Rhysand, while simultaneously labeling Tamlin as a villain even after he apologizes and goes out of his way to save and help her, despite his court literally falling apart.

Rhysand, who abandoned 2/3 of his court, who leaves the CoN to be ruled by Kier (a disgusting, misogynistic man) and only goes there every once in a while to scare the citizens, who wholeheartedly believes Mor is the only "dreamer" there, who in his entire rule has never actually outlawed the clipping of wings (despite saying he did so — which I find hard to believe, considering the "most powerful High Lord in history" should be able to get a few things done in his 100+ years of ruling), who left his whole court undefended and open to Amarantha's beasts to protect Velaris, who sexually assaulted and drugged Feyre (therefore, making her unable to think of the riddle because of how disoriented she was), who hid the risks of the pregnancy from Feyre, who treats Nesta like shit (despite her, a human girl, willing to fight in the war for him), who sent her on dangerous missions and threatened to kill her knowing she was suicidal and depressed (but obviously his IC is allowed to grieve and make mistakes), and yet he is forgiven and seen as this misunderstood villain not just by delusional Feyre, but surprisingly, most of the fandom.

And then you have Tamlin whose court was targeted by an evil woman for 50 years, whose citizens were cursed, who had no one except Lucien, who had a whole court to protect and went to great lengths to ensure wasn't destroyed (such as sending his men to die, which he refused to even do at the beginning until they begged him), who treated Feyre with nothing but kindness, who saved her sisters and father, who killed Amarantha for her, who saved her from Hybern's hounds and saved her mate's life, and yet Rhysand does not let the man grieve and deal with his shit alone.

No one will tell you Tamlin is a good person, because he is not. He made mistakes, traumatized Feyre, betrayed Rhysand horribly, and treated Lucien like shit.

But the difference between the two is that SJM simply doesn't acknowledge the trauma Rhysand inflicted on Feyre, while agressively reminding us throughout the books of Tamlin's mistakes. Feyre is sexually assaulted by Rhysand to "protect" her (which he didn't even end up doing; in fact, he only attracted more attention to her), and people run with the excuse. Tamlin locks Feyre up to protect her (which Feyre ends up doing later on to Nesta, and she is forgiven for it), and people run for the streets to slander him.

Between the two, Tamlin will always be the better man.
