The plot introduced into the series was what happens after she became pregnant and carried the baby to term, could a non Illyrian safely deliver a baby with wings which has now carried over into the discussion of Elain since it's canon that Feyre and Nesta were changed while we were not told the same of Elain. It's not a reason Elain can't be with Az but it is a valid topic of discussion within this series since the author posed it as a plotline. In the real world, most women safely choose a Caesarean section if they're dealing with delivery issues in their pregnancy so acting like delivering a winged baby has real world implications is simply you jumping on a pedestal for something to yell about. That's not to say there aren't delivery issues in the real world but this scenario is not one of them.

Respectfully, please stop being deliberately obtuse. Let's break this down, line by line.

I'm aware! I assume that you sent me this ask because I reblogged an old post of mine yesterday, so what you seem to be missing is that I've already discussed this.

Here, where I implicitly acknowledged both infertility and trauma related to pregnancy and childbirth as potential triggers in the post:

And here, where I explicitly stated that we know you guys don't mean that Elain is unable to conceive at all - which is impossible to know, as per the text she hasn't tried. If you read what I wrote, you'd see I said that - assuming Nesta had not changed her anatomy and would not be able to in the future, or that Elriel would even conceive winged children if they wanted kids at all - Elain and Azriel together would be functionally infertile*, as any child with wings (which is not a guarantee, by the way, though as you guys treat it as a foregone conclusion I worked off that premise) would die before or during birth, killing Elain at the same time.

* Is it more correct to say they'd suffer from "impaired fecundity"? Yes! But please read a little further.

It's really not hard to understand that we are discussing a fictional woman's ability to successfully have a specific man's children, and that their impaired fecundity does not (or should not) impact her worthiness to be loved by that man; that it has been equated to the struggles that many real, living people have experienced with regards to conceiving, carrying their babies to term and giving birth; and that - while an oversimplification - all these issues are being lumped under the umbrella of "infertility struggles" to be concise and accessible.

That being said, let me correct you quickly. While you very carefully said that we were "not told the same of Elain," with regards to Nesta changing her anatomy, you neglected to mention that SJM actually had her choose wording that didn't explicitly exclude Elain from the change, either.

Also of note, Nesta specified she had the "knowledge" to perform the change, which suggests that even if Elain wasn't changed then, it could be done in the future.

You should have stopped after the first half of the sentence. Elain's lack of pliable bones - ie. the second half of the "Illyrian womb" discussion that posits Gwyn as the only logical love interest - is not even a medically accurate theory, so it shouldn't be entertained full stop. While SJM may have posed Illyrian womb/wing issues as an issue for Feyre and Rhys, she never suggested it would impact any couple's decision to get or stay together. In fact, Nesta and Cassian were mates while Nesta was still unable to birth winged babies, too.

In the real world, most women safely choose a Caesarean section if they're dealing with delivery issues in their pregnancy so acting like delivering a winged baby has real world implications is simply you jumping on a pedestal for something to yell about. That's not to say there aren't delivery issues in the real world but this scenario is not one of them.

Once again I'm asking you to put your thinking cap on.

Obviously we do not have to consider the delivery of winged babies in the real world, but if you cannot see how the frequent suggestion (that Elain's hypothetical inability to successfully have Azriel's children is a valid reason as to why an author would separate, or even hint at separating, a potential couple) could be hurtful and upsetting to the many people who have/are currently struggling with infertility - or who have lost their much wanted and loved babies during the course of pregnancy or childbirth - then I have to assume that you're either suffering from a catastrophic lack of empathy or, respectfully, you have a sheep or two loose in the top paddock.

As I mentioned in the post I linked above, if the fandom is (rightfully!) expected to handle the topic of Gwyn finding love after experiencing SA with grace - out of respect for real life assault survivors - then it is not wrong to expect the same degree of care in return when discussing the anatomy change in ACOSF, out of respect for those who have trauma associated with infertility, pregnancy and childbirth in real life. It's an incredibly simple act to listen in good faith, rather than jumping straight to accusing us of wanting to "yell about" something just because you are prioritising shipping discourse over being kind.

It's 2025, the "Elain doesn't have an Illyrian womb or pliable bones" theory is both medically inaccurate and hurtful, and it really needs to end here.

Compiler’s note - skip down to the list if you don’t need to know why/what exactly I like in fic!

aka my dramione ethos: The most compelling dynamic in a ship, for me, is when it comprises of two people giving each other the strength to be the people they need to be.

Before he can be loved, Draco must be redeemed. In a way, he’s awfully bad at being a blood supremacist (lacking real conviction). Draco’s Slytherin morality, at least as a teen, compels him only in the direction of protecting and preserving himself and his own; he doesn’t seem to have a morality outside of this. Everything else is borrowed from his fear and desire to conform to his loved ones’s expectations. Contrast with Hermione, who has an outsized sense of morality—she knows exactly what is good and right, and she throws herself into her causes with self-righteous conviction, headstrong and beautifully off-putting.

Draco, the boy who belonged everywhere, watched his fragile worldview turn to ash and became unmoored. Hermione, the girl who belonged nowhere, bent the world towards her through obstinate radiant willpower, and established herself. Two people who could, maybe, find a home in each other.

A Draco in love with Hermione might wrap his morality around her courage, might steady himself while in the service of her. A Hermione in love with Draco might be preserved by him, may be bolstered against burning out or being misunderstood or unseen. They’re both industrious with their respective tasks (she researches! he toils!), which lends itself to them having intellectual parity. They’re both kind of intense. Then there’s the general enemies to lovers appeal, the idea that at no point in time were these two characters ever indifferent towards each other. The banter potential alone…!

So this is some of the kind of exploration I like in fic, pressed in many different tones; ff is especially unique in that we can play around with the elements (AUs, contrived circumstances, tonal shifts, narrative beats) and be more experimental because the weight of canon grounds it.

My rec list:

Before I truly begin, I feel like I have to comment on it: I did ultimately enjoy Manacled. A "Voldemort wins" fic with a Handsmaid Tale twist; it has compelling structure, with a D/Hr dynamic suited to my tastes and what I find interesting about the characters. However, it's dark (mind the tags) and I’m still not certain if the content was handled as effectively as the author meant it to be, and so I don't think it's a universal recommendation despite its staggering popularity. If you do want to read this I would recommend downloading it because she's going to delete it off ao3 once the novelization of it comes out next year.

My quintessential dramione recommendation is, of course, The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy. It's a full Deathly Hallows rewrite where Draco goes Horcrux hunting with the trio and as far as I'm concerned, it's canon. Unlike every other fic on my list, I would recommend this to everyone. Written very closely in style to the books, I think it has universal appeal and it’s the perfect jumping off point for the pairing while being convincing. Sometimes I would find myself wishing that this was the direction the books had taken. PG-13, in terms of violence and sexual content, which I find significant enough to bring up since there’s usually a lot of sex in popular ff.

My favorite humor-based rec: Bad Omens. Written in the vein of Terry Pratchett. I would describe this as a "star-crossed morons" kind of story. It's literally perfect.

Remain Nameless. Caveat that this sort of trailed off for me once the central tension with the relationship was resolved but I think in terms of an adult redemption arc it was very sweetly done. Sometimes achingly tender.

The Fallout is probably my favorite “extended wartime” fic of all time. The intimacy in this makes me want to kms, in a good way. I'm linking to a downloadable pdf here since it's been removed off other sites.

Love in The Time of Zombie Apocalypse. Zombie outbreak AU. Strays from canon characterization but. Plot goes crazy. Complex character work. Hooked me all the way through.

Thirteenth Night. Post-war, Hermione assigned to monitor a memory-charmed Draco. Less epic than a lot of the other recs on this list because the scope of the world is small, but it’s quietly good.

This is just my plug for anything PacificRimbaud has ever written, but particularly the historical rom com Love and Other Historical Accidents, the raunchy and funny One and Done, and the tender romantic one-shot Les Pelerins.

BLOODY, SLUTTY, AND PATHETIC. Listen to me. Listen to me. The title sort of explains the tone and it carries entirely throughout. I am obsessed with this version of Draco. All men should be bloody slutty and pathetic. Post-war, ministry employee Hermione, marriage law AU (which tbh I don't tend to love usually, so this really is exceptional).

She Whom He Harbors. Ok before you read the summary/tags and judge me, yes, this is basically a "fuck or die" fic. I figured I needed to make the rec in case this is a vibe anyone is interested in pursuing. But it's not just gratuitous smut, I swear, there's a compelling plot here. Lot of orgasms. But there is a plot.

Brand New World. Epic in scope. Diverges in plot while they're still at Hogwarts. Great Draco redemption arc (which is important to me!)

The Gloriana Set. ThebeMoon is my personal queen of Hogwarts Eighth Year fics. I would also rec The Darkwood Wand, by the same author. Both very fun reads.

Things Without Remedy. Time travel! Adore the serious relationship build in this one.

Tea & Necromancy. Sort of an experimental tone. Equal parts funny and morbid.

Sucker Punch. Also would classify this as experimental; you'll know if you jive with the writing within a few paragraphs.

Choice and Chance. Absolutely delicious plot divergence at the point of Hermione's torture at Malfoy Manor. Involves multiverse elements.

Beyond Recall or Desire. If you like soulmate bonds!

Malfoy Shrugged. On the shorter side; just a great two-shot.

Tromp as Writ. While I'm recommending perfect one-shots.

Mindbound. This author has a series of very short works based on fairy tales. This one is my favorite but I'd recommend the others too.

Past / Present / Future. Barbara Kruger AND a perfect adult Draco characterization? J’adore.

My very last recommendation is something that is so important to me, but I'm separating it like this because it's a WIP whereas all the others are completed fics. Please don't let that deter you, if at all interested.

Lionheart. !!!!

What can I say about Lionheart, except that its author somehow resides in my brain and created something for me, specifically? I've really so rarely read fic that is so perfectly balanced in dialogue, character understanding, narrative arc, plotting, action—when I read this, I feel like how I felt at 11, reading Harry Potter. For real. It's a whole series rewrite, truly epic in scope, asking the question: what if Draco had been sorted into Gryffindor? Currently the storyline is complete as to book four, partially through book five, and being updated. The character work is especially stunning to me. This is the sweetest slowburn friendship-to-lovers of my dreams; obviously heavy on the friendship arc since we're not all the way through, and yet I find that my emotional investment in this is so heightened it doesn't even matter to me. I want to read thousands of words of this (luckily, it's already got 600k+ of those). Thank you greenTeacup, for my life.

I obviously have read more than this so if there are any specific tropes/interests/limitations you want a rec for, I'm open to give an opinion. Also I have my eye on a few fics that I just haven't read yet, so alas, this list is not perfectly complete. The next thing I want to read....Détraquée....

HP Fans stfu already pls tyyy

I left the fandom some time ago but have gotten more and more posts in my feed recently. And I'm completely confused about how we're still at the same place/ maybe even further behind than we were years ago.

I haven't read any HP FFs lately, not even ATYD (?) when it came out, but since then I've seen a hunger portion of the fandom be interested in the marauders era. Which is great imo!

But how come we're still doing the anti/pro Snape/James shit?

Is fandom culture dead?

Yes. In other fandoms and on social media I have noticed this as well but there is a reason why AO3 is a great FF platform! No censorship with a great tagging system, perfect for "don't like, don't read". There is a reason for that system. If something genuinely triggers you, you filter it out. If you don't want something specific in your fanfic, you filter it out. And if you don't, YOU CHECK THE TAGS before you read. This also goes for Tumblr and other platforms. Dead dove do not eat and don't like, don't read go hand in hand.

So: if you don't want to hear about what the other side has to say, just block the tag or scroll past it. Simple as that. As well as the other way around, if you say something, you tag it so people who don't want to see that can filter it out. If you post something anti Snape, and don't tag it as that, you don't get to complain about pro Snape ppl interacting. This also goes the other way.

You don't HAVE to interact with people whose opinion you don't share, this is the Internet, so stop complaining and just use the block feature.

Why is ANTI Snape worse than pro Snape?

Obviously being anti ANYTHING is not bad. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This is my opinion about the anti *thing* tag with the example of anti Snape. This could also be about Anti James, etc.

People talking about characters they like, no matter for which reason, is great. Characters are never saints. Debating certain opinions about the character and the actions they did is important and fun. This also goes about why you don't like a character. But the most important part about this is being respectful while doing so.

Just posting about why a certain character is an asshole in your opinion is a part of fandom culture and has its place. Feel free to debate your opinions. But if you see someone posting "X/Y is my favorite character :3 and this is the reason:.." doesn't mean you should go ahead and comment "but weren't they X? So you're excusing Y behavior? Why would that be your favorite when they are obviously Z?" That is not the place for a debate. If you want one, ask for one. But don't use people's posts being happy about their favorite character to hate on them when they didn't ask for it.

Like I said, this is not just about "Snape is a death eater Nazi equivalent bully of kids", but also about "James (/*other marauder*) bullied and SA'ed Snape for no reason and harassed Lily for years", as well as other characters and fandoms!

What happened during the marauders era?

We have certain parts in the books and movies that indicate what has happened during that time and even more about what happened after. Both the books and the movies are canon. Having characters without certain knowledge about what happened/ how they were like when they were younger is great for HC's! This gives writers more freedom to write than having to make up their own complete story or when writing about characters that do exist and having to tag everything OOC or AU. You HAVE to expect things to be "OOC" when there are nearly no facts.

This is why Jegulus is so popular. Regulus is a watered down Snape in fanfictions imo, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't ship it. It just gives people more creative freedom while writing that 'Savior x victim, forbidden romance, redeemed and saved Slytherin' type, which I PERSONALLY prefer with Jeverus.

Neither Snape nor James were saints!

As already said in the two parts above, there is a constant debate about which character is bad and why. I like both Snape and James, so I won't advocate for either. But people need to realize these characters are both not great people. Simply because one person is worse doesn't mean the other was great. Just because I say that James was a bully to Snape without any reason (since Snape was not a death eater as a student) and he was a rich entitled brat for harassing Lily by not accepting her no, DOESN'T MEAN I don't also believe that Snape was an unfit teacher with his bullying to his students, shouldn't have called people slurs and shouldn't have stayed a death eater 'just to be a spy'. People speaking out about either side are not asking for your opinion or believe either of that behavior can be excused.

Every character is flawed. Even Lily, the rest of the marauders and just, well, everyone.

Getting personal is disgusting behavior and you deserve everything bad that happens to you!

I have seen people genuinely tell people that if they like Snape, they deserve to get bullied. People have also said that to James fans. Bullying is never okay and I hope you guys start thinking about what you're saying. So stfu.

Same with death threats. Are you guys actually that chronically online and disgusting that you wish people death, illnesses and a genuinely bad life for liking/ disliking FICTION CHARACTERS??

Another thing I have heard people say, is that Snape fans are Nazis. I am German. The right wing party AfD is more prominent than ever. They got promoted by Musk. And the so called political middle party (CDU/CSU) spoke about working with the AfD. It is never okay to call people Nazis for liking a certain character (except when the person tells you that they are against immigrants, women, the lgbtq community, aka minorities & vulnerable communities of any kind). Look at Germany, look at the USA, LOOK AT THE WORLD. Go after the real right wing disgusting pieces of shit and nazis. Stop watering down what Nazis were. How it started.

Words have meaning. Using them has consequences. The internet is not a punishment- and law-free area.

I think you could really play in the space of both Rook and Emmrich having insecurities via the relationship and it would be Delicious™️

You have Emmrich who has multiple codex of past lectures, and while he might have started life as a Butcher's Son, he's so removed from that life now it's kinda laughable. He's got money, respect in his field, and TENURE. Forget everything else about the man, on paper he's a golden meal ticket.

Do you know how many people have salivated on the idea of hanging off his arm? Do you know how long, colleagues and students alike, have probably spent trying to get closer to the Prize rather than the man himself?

And then Rook, regardless of faction, is the de facto Wild Card Rebel. They got picked by Varric Tethras, known "make a street rat into a hero" author. You have someone who, if you do LoF or Crow, was someone who did the right thing, but not the Politically Sound Thing. If you have a Shadow Dragon or Grey Warden, the secretive organization that helps the helpless? No one outside those organizations knows what the slight was, they just see an archetype. And a Veil Jumper or Mourn Watcher has the academic backing, sure, but Rook is the equivalent of an Indiana Jones (in both derogatory and Romantic Adventurer sense).

Pre-Game, the only people who were hanging around Rook were fellow rule breakers and fanatics. I can guarantee two things:

1) there has absolutely been a Mr Incredible "you're not affiliated with me!" Moment in Rook's Career

2) Rook fits the bill for a MidLife Crisis Partner

People on the outside looking in, who don't know either of them, will try to get in the middle of it. And that's where the jealousy rises. "Spring in the capital has always arrived early, and has been exceptionally sassy." A few older women gathered together, their bond shared through the season and by washing laundry.

Your ears perked up to the sound of spring, one thing you've been waiting for your whole time travel frenzy. You had arrived at Daedo during fall, and now spring had come. It was a nice experiance especially during the historical times- it was fresh.

"Reminds me, Taehyun did mention something like the spring festival just two days ago." You whisper to yourself, walking around with such thoughts. Your sandals click around the stone path, as you pass around people around the palace.

And with a lot of observation, spring had become the hot topic of the palace. Every person you had passed, majority women- had been talking about the upcoming spring festival.

Spring just didn't mean the season, the season of blooming of flowers, or the warmth. Love lingers around the air of spring, and thats a big reason why women talk about it a lot.

Now based on your conclusions, the spring festival was something held around this time of spring. It had arrived early, and wrapped the people in its season.

"Oh, hello!" A boy about your age bows infront of you once you both crossed paths. He seemed to be a merchant, not familliar with his way in the palace. His clothing had looked like someone from overseas, and his sweating face tells a lot that he was running around.

You both had arrived at his office, the warriors training infront gave off "dedicated general" vibes, to where he had pushed the warriors to their limits, which oddly enough made you feel a lot more responsible.

The boy, who's name you still didn't know, announces your arrival, which silence arrives, but you dont care and just bid farewell to the escort.

"Ehem, he said that her grace has arrived." You barge in the door, welcomed by the wooden and dark office, filled with books and swords in display. This multiplied the "I feel responsible" effect up to ten times more.

"Ew." You catch sight of Kang Taehyun, to he replies with an eye roll, and there stands the General who had called for you. "So, whats up again? Are you here to tell me how spring has bloomed and I'm required to unfortunately go to the festival?" You say, rambling on with your head.

The whole room goes silent.

"I'm right, aren't I...?" You sigh, as your voice fades over time.

"Yeah." General Beomgyu replies, as the Crown Prince laughs with his hearts content, holding the table to prevent him from falling. He laughs as if the world were to collapse, or he was infected by a laughing plague.

You clear your throat, annoyed by his burst of emotion. "Funny? Ha. Ha. Funny." You sarcastically laugh, crossing your arms after rolling your eyes at him. Taehyun laughed harder, as your annoyance added fuel to his amusement.

General Beomgyu wishes his leave lasted a lot longer, which he feels himself wish for another one. He clears his throat at the both of you, slamming the scroll down at the table, which makes the room silent.

"This scroll was sent to one of my guards, without approval and with secrecy. Good enough, my guard showed me the content, and asked if I was aware- which I was not. They even included a meet up place and specifics." He discussed the matters with you, and probably was reporting another stir around the palace.

"It was a letter signed by the Cheol family, and was discussing about the upcoming Spring Festival, to which a national treasure was to be kept safe by the guards and to await their arrival," He opens the letter, and points towards a paragraph. "To where they will steal it without permission, to where it 'really' belonged."

You nodded, grasping the situation. "What exactly is this national treasure they want?"

"It's something the Cheol family used to own, when my great great grandfather had the throne." Prince Taehyun answers, seeming to know the answer.

After all, he was royalty. "The head of the Cheol family owned a sword which played part in a war they fought in. They brought home victory, making the sword a family heirloom."

"The Cheol family's head decided to make it a national treasure, removing it from their hands and instead giving it to the kingdom, to be shown and adored during around the spring festival- where they took home victory from the war." He finished narrating such a story.

You felt surprised, that the Kang dynasty had a lot more depth in history than you knew. "Well, by attending, what's our agenda?"

General Beomgyu answers, "We'll be going in disguise."

The day of the festival had come, where the flowers bloom and bustling streets erupt, spring it was. Everything felt warm and fresh, as the beautiful breeze crawled up to your skin- you watched as everyone had felt the same as you, wearing their best, running around children, and the merchants selling products in season.

And by disguise, you never accepted to look bad. You wore a beautiful piece that reflected "spring" by cloth, and by design, it was the flowers that bloomed during the season, it's colors representing them.

The only thing you hated that it was the dress that Kang Taehyun had unfortunately, gotten you. A beautiful piece can be so beautiful, yet the intention behind it makes your blood boil.

"You really did not accept to be unsatisfying with your disguise." General Beomgyu walks up behind you, he wore something out of his usual armor. He seemed like a nobleman, someone out to do business rather than fighting.

"You look good too yourself. But won't your disguise be recognized due to your famous or infamous face?" You tilt your head, observing how much his disguise covered him.

He chuckles, "I am barely recognized unless I am seen face to face in the prison. And if I am- I have a hat to cover." He tilts his hat, showcading his so called disguise. You laugh, finding him appealing somehow with his outfit.

"General!" Your heart jumps, startled by the sudden greeting. A boy bowed at Beomgyu, and was most likely someone who served him. His face was covered, making you crouch a little to try and peek at his face.

The boy lifts his face up, revealing he was the escort who brought you to the General's office two days ago.

"Oh! My Grace!" He bows once again.

"Long time no see!" You smile, bowing a little at him. He then lifts his head up, revealing the boy smiling sweetly. "I'm Huening Kai, I serve General Beomgyu as a personal assitant and a guard at the royal palace." He introduces himself, bowing again.

You clap, "Woah, it looks like General Beomgyu has good eyes for help. Do you both work for the palace and the Choi household?" You tilt your head, curious.

"Something like that." Kai replies, smiling at you once again.

"Ack! He's sweet as hell, General, when must you learn from this educated boy?" You tease Beomgyu, pushing your arm onto his, which he reacts dramatically to. He pulls away and shrugs, yet his face is clearly offended.

You laugh, absolutely forgetting you lacked one more member in the disguise team.

"Spring arrived so early, and has been exceptionally sassy." A man beside you spoke, making you jump once again, your heart startled that it threathened to leap out. "What is up with people surprising me today?" You scoff.

You eye him up and down, preparing to share your remark. "And what is up with that "exceptionally sassy" line? I've heard it atleast so many times." You shout at the boy, tired of hearing the same line over and over again. It's as if originality never ceased to exist.

"Whats your problem?" The blurred man from your vision turned out to be the missing diguise member, Prince Taehyun, scoffed at you. "It's a famous line from a famous poet. You're outdated, you don't even know the great poet Ae-sun."

"You're dramatic." You snort, holding back laughter. You return your gaze back at spring's ray on the kingdom, admiring the well decorated flowers and the touch of humanity to add to that beauty.

After officially two days from your meeting at General Beomgyu's office, you four had officially initiated the plan of preventing the nations treasure to be placed in the wrong hands.

It was discussed that they would use the main center event of the festival, exactly happening today. A distraction amongst the people as they work behind the scenes.

You sighed, and thought to yourself. "I'm thinking that the Cheol family muat be plotting something else that meets the eye. Regaining the sword does nothing, yet the intention behind it holds deep meaning."

"It must be something related to the politics of the country. Is to regain the glory of their family once again to try and aim for the throne?" You nod to yourself, thinking the possibility was high.

Taehyun drifts his gaze to you, noticing your mind wandering to somewhere else. He smirks, turning his body towards yours. "Mind floating? Where are we supposed to be then?"

You snap out of it, noticing the teasing man beside you. "Right here." Your fingers fly around imitating an airplane, then you suddenly flick his forehead. He winces, holding his forehead as if he was stabbed.

Cackling, the two other men stare at you as if you just cursed someone, General Beomgyu sighing, and Kai holding back a snort, in fear of being drifted out the palace.

"Okay, the sun is about to set, so we should get going!" Kai smiles, pointing towards the road ahead. You two stop bickering, both nodding in unison forgetting the limited time ahead.

As you four walked through out the busy spring festival, where stalls stand, full of games, food and accesories, and more shows where beautiful dancers sway along with the wind. Spring was beautiful, full of life and beauty.

"General, are you here to find- OW!" Kai nudges his arm, teasing about finding a spring date for tonight. It seemed that General Beomgyu wasn't ready to open his heart, yet.

"Shoo! Let him open his heart at the right moment, maybe he'll bring her to the next festival." You giggle, nudging Beomgyu's other arm. You and Kai looked like worms snuggling into Beomgyu, teasing him about a spring date.

Beomgyu scoffs, annoyed at you pests. "You ask him." He looks at the Crown Prince, "He'll need to find a Crown Princess to bring here before he becomes Emperor."

You raise a brow, suddenly having a realization. "In history, as I remember a litte too well, Kang Taehyun never had a wife. Wonder how this turns out after a little altering?"

"You're rushing me too much, Beomgyu." Taehyun chuckles, "And besides, we'll need to succeed in this mission before I can still get my throne." He crosses his arms, seeming to enjoy the warm and playful atmosphere.

"So we have the same theory?" You think as you look at him, catching eye contact with him. He continues, not daring to break the contact between your eyes. He saw the lit up lanterns with flowers in the reflection of your eyes along with his figure.

You notice too, how his eyes drifted onto nowhere else but your figure. It's as if he blurred the things behind you, and had highlighted you.

Feeling awkward, you cough to break eye contact with him. Once you do, he follows, feeling the same awkwardness as you felt.

"Okay, here we are." Kai calls out, as the squad stops infront of a building which seemed to look like a normal fancy shop, where fancy stuff like gold toads, decor, and the building full of marble.

"Wait." You halt, stopping all of them in their tracks. You clear your throat, as if you were to announce such an important thing. "We need a squad name." Which was really far from that.

They all give you a blank stare, confused onto why you needed one. "Why?" General Beomgyu was the first to reply.

Kai on the hand nods, "I think it would be nice."

And Taehyun surprisingly was the last to reply. "That's-" He felt like he didn't need to continue any further.

"Well, you know- to refer to our selves instead of saying "we're actually spies from the palace" which would be awkward." You answer. "I say we should be named "Kang Possible," it sounds nice. It makes us believe that giving Taehyun the throne is possible. Pretty good, huh?"

They blink at you, concerned whether you were sick in the head or just really serious. "Kang Possible~" Kai sings, giving off that old disney series vibe. "See? Kai got it." You clap.

"Let's just go in." Beomgyu sighs, stepping forward and leaving you three behind. You trail behind him, stepping into a leap of danger.

"Excuse me, I'm here for this." Kai changes his tone into something serious, like a true guard. He shows the letter to the saleslady, in which the girl nods, pointing towards a basement level in the building. "Please go down there, then someone will meet you."

"Thank you. I've brought backup." You all bow at her, going down to the ground level she had pointed. Who knew such a building would contain the national treasure, and to find it's way all the way down there.

The four of you head down, going through a series of stone walls with torches attatched over the sides. It seemed like a typical dungeon of all sorts, but it looked fitting for something to hide the sword.

"Wait, once we've reached the sword, what are we supposed to do then?" You ask, remembering nothing about the plan for escaping nor what to do with the sword itself.

"..." No one answers.

"You guys haven't planned this?!"

You raise your hand up towards them. "I'm about to slap you all!" They flinch, backing up far away from you to avoid your rage. "Even you, Beomgyu?!" You point at him, feeling the most annoyed with him.

"I had nothing to do with this." He crosses his arms, seeming to avoid the topic. You then turn your head to the other two, who also turn their head away from you.

"So we stepped here, with no plan?" You cross your arms, all of you stopping your tracks somewhere in the middle of heading down.

"I'm joking. The sword will be transfered to safety by Huening Kai, and will be guarded in one of the palace safes." General Beomgyu chuckles, holding your shoulder to pat you to calm down. You manage to, sighing a breath of relief. "We've placed guards outside to transfer it instead of us, which would be a risky move. Then, Taehyun will make an appearance infront of the palace with me to officially welcome the festival- a perfect cover up."

You smile, "You three almost made me kill you all."

They gulp.

"Finally." You huff, "Those stairs made me lose five pounds of weight." The four of you made it to the room where the sword lays, hanged over the wall with ornaments decorated to avoid such an empty room.

The sword was beautifully made, it's handle perfect for people fighting for the victory of the country, it's brown sharpened hold adds a nice touch of bravery to the vibe, and its golden gem placed to represent the shining aura of the country.

"Okay, Kai, take the sword." Taehyun commands, holding out the scabbard. Kai places the sword into Taehyun's scabbard, as he closes it and places it down to his belt.

Beomgyu checks the area for one more time, analyzing it carefully for anything wrong. He sees nothing and nods at the rest of you. You all escalate to the floor, preparing the last stages of execution of your plan.

"Oh, why did you four go up?" The saleslady hears the footsteps from the stairs, as she goes to check the noise.

The three boys carry your body like a piece of wood as they shout, "She couldn't handle the stairs! She fainted!" They march towards the exit, ignoring the saleslady further to avoid more drama which could lead to confession. You laid against their palms as they carry you up high, tongue out pretending to faint.

The sword was hidden inside your body, somewhere not seen due to you being carried.

I love Wangxian as much as the next guy, but my unpopular MDZS opinion is that both LWJ & WWX after the resurrection were really shitty brothers. Both to their own brothers and to each other's.

Like...JC just threw himself in front of WWX & his boyfriend & Jiggy's sword & took a stab to the chest just narrowly missing his heart, & Wei Wuxian DIDN'T EVEN ASK HIM HOW HE IS! I'm sure JC didn't want him to thank him, but totally ignoring that & forgetting about it is... you know, not fine. even LXC was more worried about his wound. After the temple, when everyone was talking to everyone else, & WWX thanked JC for giving Chenqing back to him, he doesn't even wait until JC's answer is fully out before he immediately turns back to look at LWJ!

Even JL who wasn't talking to JC at that moment saw that JC had something to say! But WWX not only didn't give him a chance to talk, but didn't even have any interest in what he had to say, and wouldn't listen to him just like all the other times when JC tried to talk to him (Repeatedly reminding WWX of his promise & even asking why didn't you go back to Lotus Pier). As you try to do, after you brother has returned from the dead, after causing his own death, your sister's and your brother-in-law's. WWX doesn't think that that's an issue that they need to talk about. Because it's unpleasant for him. While he is not the one who's owed an explanation or an apology. He's not the one who gets to decide if they're having this conversation or not. Let alone asking about JC's wound! WWX! just! Left! With! His boyfriend! & didn't look back! Not even after JC's public meltdown!

And and, what's worse, for both LWJ & WWX is this! Here is what happens when JC is trying to have a conversion with WWX about the non-consensual surgery WWX performed on him by mutilating himself on JC's behalf:

Like...Beating someone's family member in front of them is a very, very rude thing in general when they're themselves handling the situation very well. They were just having a family argument, and LWJ felt the need to beat JC. If you want to de-escalate a family argument, you do it the way JGY does. Or LSZ, A CHILD, de-escalates situations. While respecting both parties. Or else it just escalates even worse.

And this happened at the Jiang ancestral halls, too. WWX was the first to attack JC (which was totally within his brotherly rights when JC was being a little shit) and JC counter-attacked. JC's spiritual powers, unlike WWX's and LWJ's, hadn't returned yet. WWX totally got this. It wasn't their first time fighting. OK, LWJ deflected the first blow of Zidian. (& bear in mind that hours ago, JC with his spiritual powers sealed, barely able to walk, picked his sword and was going to go back for WWX in the burial mounds, before he knew about the golden core thing)

Imagine your friend invites you to their home which they've ran away from when they were very young, their sibling that now owns the house lets you in even though you don't even say hi to them or acknowledge their existence there in anyway, & your friend invites you to somewhere you really have no business being in. IDK. Say, the master bedroom that's been locked ever since their parents' death. Your friend's sibling arrives there and they have an argument. You get offended in the crossfire but your friend leaps in to protect your honor, by beating the said sibling. The said sibling beats back. Can you imagine actually beating the sibling?! She should scare him shitless. The conversation SHE HAS BEEN AVOIDING has to be had ASAP. My preference is in the hallway post-panic attack as S4 opening act and I want all Sydcarmy action from then on throughout the whole season. Throw Sydluca in the mix too, bring back Claire if you want to, IDGAF, I want it all, I want jelly Carmy and Syd finally letting herself feel what she really feels for Carm and not approving of it at first but eventually giving in and Luca, who already said that will be staying in USA for only a few months can go back to Noma or where the fuck he wants after that, his purpose will be served.

I want Claire to even fucking beg Carmy to fuck Syd because she finally comes to her fucking senses and realizes he's an emotional cheater and calls him out on his shit and for once she doesn't tell him the most unfuckingbelievable line ever thrown on TV: "Never apologize", she actually forgives him even if he can't apologize to her for feeling what he feels for Syd, especially after the conversation Sydcarmy had in her hallway that resulted in her declining Shapiro's offer and staying with at The Bear.

So Carmy humors Claire and decides to finally grow a pair and now with Luca outta the pic and Claire too, he goes for it and finally Syd, after all this is said and done, lets him in. No more fumble on either side → "If it's not perfect, it doesn't go out."

That is what is marinating here in the potential realm, that is one of the menus Storer can serve next season with the ingredients he prepped in S3.

I don't wanna see anything else unless Storer surprises me with something even better, which would be a full-on Sydcarmy main dish all the way, but I won't hold my breath for that one.

I'm not saying all of this will happen to the T, I'm saying that the story is at that point exactly. All of the aforementioned can very well unravel in 04x01 and go from there in this order, with these characters without disrupting their respective arcs.

And Nat will be happy that Syd signed the agreement and when she finds out about a potential Sydcarmy relationship she will play Cupid. But she will also be too busy being a first-time mom and mending the relationship with her own mother, who along with uncle Lee can come in and save the restaurant when Cicero pulls the plug after The Bear got its ass served by The Chicago Tribune and then or in the middle of all this: either the JB award or the Michelin Star or both can happen. ON THE WHOLE, I THINK Cas, for his part, would get along pretty decently with John, and he'd try his best to keep the peace. After all, despite John's complicatedness, this is a father who Sam and Dean BOTH love. Cas would inintally try his best to steer clear, kinda like he tried to steer clear with Mary.

BUT I do think that if John came back while Mary was alive, I think we'd likely see an unfridging of a lot of the positive, hopeful elements we saw in younger John. (He's like Sam in some ways! He's like Dean in other ways!)

That said, I think there's the potential for Cas to have to react to John picking at and cornering him, and I think Cas would try his best to "gray-rock" John like how he does with Lucifer. Cas, after all, tends to tolerate hot-and-cold people pretty darn well (Dean, Meg, Uriel, Lucifer, etc.)

Cas would do okay with that at first because he neither wants nor cares about John's approval. But I think the game of "testing" would eventually go too far, and it would end when Cas snaps at John or does a big show of inhuman strength. AFTER THAT... like how Sam's loss of temper engendered respect... so too does this get Cas on John's GOOD side.

And I think Cas would actually like the acknowledgement of his strength/capabilities if John were to give it TBH. Cas rarely has ppl who take his side OR give his efforts verbal credit, and John would be quick to commiserate with Cas as a "fellow soldier," especially if Cas happened to "be in the doghouse" for anything...

I think where we'd see the biggest schism between Cas and John is on the battlefield, where I can imagine Cas putting John in his place quite succinctly if he sees something he disagrees with.

And as far as Cas's blunt way of speaking, I just KNOW that Cas could and would hurt John's feelings, even if John tried to hide it. ((SEE: Cas hurt ARTHUR FUCKING KETCH'S feelings with his judgey disapproval of the way Ketch handles the mission in 14x09 LMFAO.))

ASIDE// If we're talking extended daddy issues, though, I'm obsessed with the comment tag I got that Cas winds up liking Samuel C. better than John, and Samuel C. also likes Cas better than John, and both of those things John insane.

ANYWAY, in short, I think Cas and John kinda get along, because Cas gets a lot of the "impossible situations" and the "holding up protectorship burdens."

And there's also the familiarity that probably feels disarmingly comforting because there are GOOD parts of John that remind Cas of Sam AND Dean.

Plus, it's important to remember that Cas gives a LOOOOT of leeway to humans when they're "bad/evil." I won't say he woobifies them, but he kinda sorta definitely a little bit does do that. (Even human Metatron, who friggin' KILLED Dean FFS.) Cas tends to see "human evil" thru a more pitiable lens, and I think John would definitely get the full benefit of Cas's "giving humans a pass."

(Especially since John's a crybaby. Cas is weak to that.)

ANYWAY, as far as getting along goes, this is also what I think would happy with Benny and Sam, if you care. Benny's personality is a lot harsher in canon than fanon, though fanon gives him something of a syrupy tone, I feel like Benny is more like Sam than even John is in a LOT of key ways, and I get the impression Benny'd get along with Sam like a house on fire eventually, maybe even better than Dean does.

Alright, my first and foremost thought is this being aged-up!Jon with Damian. ANd Dick reaches critical hypocrite levels with the extent in which he's (ʘ言ʘ╬) because he loves Jon, they're cool, but really? Fawning over Dick's son brother? To which Jon would make an awkward quip about Dick fawning after Dick's brother and Dick shifts to Σ(ಠิωಠิ|||) because oh damn, Jon got him there.

Beforehand though, it was a stupid happening on a mission and Damian insists he's fine although he's battered and bruised, but Jon still flies him home and helps Alfred look after him.

Jon gets similar treatment. Despite being fully capable of being an immovable object to someone like Jason - Jon still gets sent flying. His strength is nothing compared to that of a fretting mother nanny brother.

Jon catches himself, floating back towards Dick to watch from a distance as Jason nags and frets in that way he does. Gruff, but kind. A very Damian characteristic that Jon wonders sometimes if it was influenced by Jason.

But yeah, Jon watching them with fondness.

Which Dick does, too. Until he realizes Jon is doing the same and Dick's protective tendencies come about.

That Dick recognizes he'll have to apologize to Bruce for forcing him to experience similar feelings of petulance and grief is something he's not looking forward to, but Dick gets it now; he wasn't prepared!

Which Jason does. He beckons Dick over and Dick will never not answer a call from Jason or Damian, so he goes and they sit together and check over Damian's injuries and make sure he's fine/if he needs anything/etc.

But yeah then Jason picks up on Damian wanting to be with his friend/crush, so he excuses Dick and him. Which Dick is affronted at, but Jason scoffs and makes it happen.

There are threats about the door being left open though

Then both Dick and Jason do that eye pointing thing to Jon as they slink out and Damian is composed, but so exasperated and embarrassed in his own way

And Jon adores them regardless of their protective threats and shenanigans. He adores them for how they love Damian, for how they look after and treat him.

He takes his spot beside Damian on Damian's bed again and it's easy, even after all of that.

Until Jon shudders because he feels a foreboding presence he hadn't sensed before? When he suddenly turns his head -- Dick. Peering in through the shadow of the door and Jon actually gets jumpscared and it's soft, but Jon hears it, the quiet huff of Damian's laugh.

On the subject of consent and/or anonymity

So, I've been noodling on this topic for a while now, both for this blog and also just in general. As a Quinnling, I see two different kinds of VAs: The ones who show their faces and the ones that don't. Some share their name (at least their first name) and others go by a stage name. Some are also screen actors and some are strictly voice actors. But regardless of gender identity, sexual proclivities, or chosen audience, these all fall into 2 general categories, the anonymous and the known.

Now, I feel that general parasocial rules apply across the board. And for those playing at home, here are they are:

Be kind

Be respectful

If you don't like something, that's cool, keep it to yourself though

Don't Make It Weird (this one feels difficult given the nature of Quinn, but there's a difference between cheeky and intense - you can be flirtatious and share your reactions, but ffs, Don't Make It Weird)

You are not entitled to their private life or anything more than is being given

I'm open to more rules being added to this, but this is how I tend to look at things. When it comes to the Anonymous VAs, I would also emphasize these rules, especially the latter two. Just because they are also hidden doesn't give you the right to be weird and gross and none of us are entitled to their identities.

Off the top of my head, there are a handful of creators that I feel get an inordinate amount of attention: Anonyfun, Naudio, The Devil of Dublin, and Bad Influence. There may be other extremely popular accounts and, if so, please feel free to share them, but these are the ones I hear the most about.

Now, from what I can gather, Anonyfun has taken a break from creating, Naudio has left social media, Bad Influence, or Milo, has left Instagram, but is trying out a weekly newsletter instead, and The Devil of Dublin is teasing a face reveal. All of this makes me deeply uncomfortable for various reasons. Of course, I have zero problems with people taking a step back or reinforcing their boundaries. It's less what they are doing and more why they are doing it. From what I can tell, they are either being harassed to the point of retreat or, in the case of Milo from what I read from his stories, nearly having their identity revealed because a bunch of fans decided to play creepy detective.

Hearing all of this was super disheartening, mostly because it shows a lack of gratitude for what we were being given. Whether it's Quinn audios or tiny pieces of what goes on behind the curtain, every interaction is a gift and to be greedy smacks of selfishness in the worst way.

As for The Devil of Dublin, I will not even try to suss out what he's thinking with the face reveal. For all I know he is super excited to reveal himself, that is more than possible! But I worry that pressure is the catalyst here and, moreso, I worry that it could backfire.

Recently, I saw a post on Reddit where someone was bemoaning the fact that they don't know what their favorite VAs look like, how they longed to put a face to the fantasies. There were some responses shutting that thought process down, but there were one or two that were concerning. Primarily, someone worrying over the possibility that if they did see their favorite actor's face, they wouldn't find them attractive. I actually did see this happen with some Twitch streamer, who finally gave into pressure and did a reveal, only to receive backlash. Over. His. LOOKS. Like FFS are you KIDDING ME? How shallow and cruel. And I know nothing of TDOD besides what he shares, but I do know there is a possibility of backlash and I would hate to see another fantastic creator retreat in the face of it. Or in the face of the opposite reaction, which is terrifyingly rabid approval.

Either way, I feel like there has been a recent shift towards throwing out the old consent playbook out the window and that needs to be examined and repaired. Not just for these wonderful people who are just trying to do a job, but because it ruins the fun for everyone. Besides the fact that it scares away such talent, it sort of kills the fantasy.

Milo mentions in one of his unplugged audios about the liminal space in which he and The Listener get to meet. Let me tell you how excited I was when he said it because I had been pondering this concept with the exact same phrasing! It's nice to be part of that hive mind, you know? And honestly, every single VA inhabits this space when you put your headphones in. But there is something about when you don't know what the other person looks like.

Because in this space, the space between your ears where The Voice of Your Choice reaches, he/she/they can be whoever you want. They can look like your greatest desire. And on top of that, you can be whoever YOU want. You can be the sexiest, brattiest, most confident version of yourself. This is fantasy, this is play, and there is so much you can do with just a whisper and your imagination.

So why ruin it with reality? No offense to the gorgeous faces we DO get to see because that is also VERY fun, but being able to create the entire interaction from scratch, up to and including everyone's appearance? How can you not feel powerful?

I guess this incredibly long post is just here to act as reminder. That this is fun, this isn't real, and anything real WE DO get should be treated like the precious gift that it is. Because it takes a special person to want to fulfill a fantasy and be vulnerable at the same time.

This is meant to be fun, let's live in the moment, in the liminal space, and let the rest of the obsession go. Natural curiosity is to be expected, goodness knows I'm guilty of it, but there is no reason to take it any further.

And all of THAT being said, I highly suggest subscribing to Milo's newsletter. I read the first one and he gives some interesting BTS info on the technical side of recording, as well as giving his own reviews and being his general cheeky self.

I love seeing an incredibly and rather bizzarely repressed and mentally ill fragment of text on my dash that is clearly from *some* kind of 90s novel about some guy named fitz abd needing a second to figure out which one is it, but having only very cursory secondhand eda knowledge i feel inedaquate to form opinions on which fitz goes through more/ is more messed up, or how they would react and mesh

I think the thing to keep in mind here is that while both Fitzes go through frankly absurd avalanches of trauma, Fitzchivalry's repression technique is depression and self-isolation, while Fitz Kreiner's is projecting a carefree persona. Fitzchivalry's mental narration is of the "everything sucks, I suck, I want to die," variety, while Fitz Kreiner's is more like "everything's actually so great and I am cool and awesome I want to die".

Other differences:

FF is a violent murderer but a general woman respecter; FK is very gentle but is also a sexist sleazeball

FF had multiple fathers who failed at parenting; FK had a mother who failed at parenting

FK is fairly aware he is in love with and attracted to his male presenting nonbinary best friend, he just is Choosing Not To Think About That

FF has a lot of conflicting loyalties and motivations to sort through. FK's only priorities are 1) protect The Doctor, 2) try to do the right or just least horrible thing, 3) get laid?

I think Kreiner wins any angst-off just because he suffers for over two thousand years, which is. Kind of hard to beat. Although he was then replaced with a clone of himself who didn't go through that, but had to angst over the knowledge that the 'real' version of himself did. Yay Doctor Who weirdness!

I think they would loathe each other ngl- FK would be disgusted by FF's violent and sullen ways, while FF would despise FK for being a womanizer and a coward. I do really want to write this crossover now though because I think both of them would instantly fall in love with the other's boyfriend, eheheh.

Man its just that the average nfcv fan vision of the belmonts is a human centipede. You grab the og belmonts, you kno the good hearted almost superhuman warriors who fought and killed Dracula time and time again, let nfcv turn them into regular vampire hunters that are framed as morally gray bc "muh poor vampires :(", and who are cynical jerks that don't do much of anything. And then you let the fandom bully them into the ground bc haha loser men and muh girlbosses.

And regarding girlbosses, they way ppl need to put down their men to show how cool the girls are just, reeks of insecurity to me? Why does having a "loser dumb wife guy" makes her a girlboss? Why would a confident gal need a loser to take care of instead of a good partner were both compliment eachother's strong and weak points? Maybe im being a bit dramatic here, but it carries off a similar mentality to sexist guys that need to put down their gal's accomplishments to feel well Plus, the way how fandoms still revolve around said loser guys and how a lot of the times the writing itself makes the girlboss character a compliment or a motivation for the man without depth for herself makes it all feel performative. Just write a normal character with character traits who happens to be a woman ffs :/

It's incredible. NFCV alone feels like a shitty fanfiction, full of those fanfic tropes that would make me close immediately: flanderization, wimpification of "pretty" male characters, thirsting, juvenile wit, spotlight-stealing OCs, gratuituous sex and SA treated with the finesse of a charging hippo. Then you let the fandom fandomify this shitty fanfic even more, and the result is just a disaster, a kiddie pool of the most baffling misconceptions you could see.

Just to make one example, Trevor in the games is a noble but ruthless hunter, both friendly and fierce, fighting for mankind yet wanting respect yet gladly giving credit to his friends; in the show, he's a washed out Bojack Horseman-esque asshole, who despite his cynicism admittedly attempts to do the right thing when push comes to shove; and according to fandom he's pretty much a funny penis man with two braincells, Sypha and Alucard. the scene where he punches Dracula and he goes "you must be the Belmont" became a meme for a reason :^)

And yeah you're right that the fandom doesn't seem to. like the Belmonts much. But then again, they're acting like the show wants them to :) The writing doesn't take Trevor's alcoholism seriously, so they don't, alcoholism is a funny joke that makes people silly and just a tad pathetic (and it's not a serious addiction and symptom of larger problems no sir). Richter is a goofball who cries in a corny way, so it's easy to laugh at him - and that's when fans don't say that Julia deserved to die for being a "colonizer". Lenore is sexualized to hell and back, so the fans thirst for her and they think that Hector must thirst for her too, and look, wasn't her death so prettly tragic, maybe she was a good person after all!

The way fandoms treat girl characters nowadays is... barely an improvement over the 2000s when Amy would be called a slut for having a backless dress. Now it's all about how stronk and kewl and queens and girlbosses they are. And you can't criticize the writing of a female character because "just say you hate women 🙄", even when the said character is a female victim of abuse who was written by a molester as a smug radfem whose personality never goes beyond "i want to steal from men because men bad" *coughcoughcough*

The show itself is regressive when it comes to its female characters. They're all the damn same. They're either spunky sassy gals who put their men in their place, or evil but hot dommy mommies (Striga and Morana don't fit the mold because they're not characters). Most of them are magic users, even those who in the games were normal women. I will forever stand by my point that Annette did not need to be a metal bender, and if the writers truly cared, they could have fleshed out the skeleton provided by RoB. But they didn't. Because girl power!!! but only if you're conventionally "badass" and have a "strong" attitude.

I think my problem with LWJ is that I love him in his teen years and when he’s being stuck between protecting WX and his clan, but I find his grown up version unappealing. I liked him being conflicted and having to make serious choices with consequences. I don’t like him leaving his brother alone after his own traumatic conflict without even looking back. Hell even WX in the extras asked LWJ if they should check on his brother to which he just kind of shrugs. I hate that it feels like any loyalty he had to anything outside of his relationship with WX has evaporated. He’s not like other MXTX leads he has someone else who needs him that he’s ignoring and it just feels wrong, especially with how tortured we saw WX and JC’s separation was for them both. He goes from an interesting character to a blank lover and it’s a down grade.

I actually love him in the Gusu-arc. He's so weirdly repressed and helpless to make this strange boy make sense! To make his own feelings make sense! He struggles with himself and his feelings and what he knows should be appropriate way to deal with it, but somehow isn't. I cheered and cackled when the porn book happened to him and his virgin eyes!

And then he just...stops being that. He turns into a Love Interest and that's his whole role.

Does he have friends? Does he have duties in CR he has to preform? Is he the first disciple?? Does he even talk to anyone there at all apart from his brother and his young ward???? Like, where is your life Lan Zhan? You're meant to be the half of the main couple, where is your life??

After the Nightless City, JGY took control of the richest sect around, got married, got and lost a kid and did some murdering. Nie Huaisang was inventing a cruel and unusual punishment for the murderer of his brother, and failing at running a sect. JC built a sect from the ground up and raised a kid. What have you been doing, Lan Zhan? Apart from going around and fighting stuff, and being a periodical dick to JC, what was his life about in the time he apparently 'got over his loss'?

I wrote before that I wish these years between his seclusion and WWX being back were spent by Lan Wangji on regaining his standing in the sect and the respect of the Elders. That it would be amazing to see him facing the choice of getting his place back or 'here we go again' with Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian who, as far as Lan Zhan knew, didn't like him all that much.

Does he go back to his stoic life or change it all on the man he fell in love with as a boy? Is he the copy of his father after all - trailing after an uninterested person to soothe his own feelings? Does he slowly start to figure your that while his crush is not perfect, a lot of things just went very wrong for everything to go to shit so badly and he doesn't want it to happen again? Does he think that while his brother is in pain, he still has support of their uncle and the clan, while Wei Wuxian once more chose to walk alone and he wants to follow???

Serena always knew she’d go to work the day after Bernie had deployed. In some way, she can make herself believe that this is just like the times when Bernie has gone away for a few days for a medical conference or to visit an old army friend. But deep down she knows it’s not, knows that she won’t see Bernie in person for nine months. 

She walks into their office and there on her desk is a beautiful floral box full of what look like ivory envelopes. Serena sits down in her chair and pulls it close to the desk, noticing one delicate envelope propped up against the front of the box.

She stares at it, eyes fixed upon Bernie’s messy writing on the front: Serena - Open when you get this…

She stares at it a little longer, wanting to commit this image to memory before complying. 

My Dearest Serena,

The main reason for writing these letters is because I love you! I love you so much and I want to be able to remind you of that as much as I can. In your moments of weakness. In your moments of joy. When you need to feel loved know that I will always love you. These letters are just here to remind you of that while we are apart for the next nine months. Put them somewhere you will see them often, or carry them around with you if you have to, so you always remember to Open When You…”

She knows she doesn’t have time to respond instantly, she’s got ward rounds to do, and a short surgery scheduled but she promises herself this is the perfect excuse to write Bernie her first bluey. 

She plans to write to her on her break but of course, all the best laid plans always go wrong. Bernie’s red phone rings just as she’s about to go and get herself a pastry from Pulses. She’s missing her girlfriend, so who can blame her if she wants a bit of comfort food?

She goes into surgery with Raf, naturally taking the lead. He’s a good surgeon and she knows it, but it’s going to take her some time to be able to give up control to him in that way. She’s so used to working with Bernie in that respect, where neither of them really takes control, they just work side by side effortlessly without there needing to be a lead. 

After surgery she updates the patient’s family and is just thinking that she’ll have a break now, and maybe actually write to Bernie, when Sacha comes onto the ward to remind her that she’s ten minutes late for the clinical leads’ meeting. Thankfully, she can blame it on the emergency surgery.

She spends more of the meeting thinking about Bernie than actually paying attention. Wondering how Bernie’s flight was. Wondering exactly where Bernie is now. Wondering how she is ever going to get through the next nine months without her girlfriend. 

Normally after a meeting, Bernie will spoil her with coffee and a pastry and kisses if there is time, but she knows she isn’t getting that today or for the next nine months and she can’t help but feel a little deflated at the thought. 

She’s professional enough to offer her opinion a few times to make it look like she’s paying attention to the meeting but doesn’t really stretch herself. She’ll make up for it another time but today isn’t it. 

After the meeting she grabs her own coffee and pastry from Pulses and is this time determined to write Bernie’s letter, so she walks back onto AAU and locks herself in her office. She takes her time thumbing through the envelopes in the box, allowing herself to glance at what’s written on some of them, from love, to sorrow to anger, although she’s not convinced, she’ll need to use that last one. She then turns to her own bag and gets out one of the blueys she has in there—she and Bernie had picked up a stack from the post office before her deployment—and her favourite writing pen before sitting down at her desk. She knows she could use the INtouch electronic mail service to send Bernie an email but she wants the first letter she writes her girlfriend to be a handwritten one. 

Dear Bernie,

How!?! How did you ever get time to think so much about my needs while doing all the things you had to do? The idea of the envelopes has filled my heart with joy and all I can say is I’m so damn lucky that I am the woman you want to share your life with.

I had a quick look through the other envelopes, and I cannot believe all of the different occasions you have managed to cover. I do not have the words to tell you how loved this gesture of yours has made me feel. And you say that you don’t think you’re very good at romance!

I’ve got so much more I want to write but I’ve got to cut this letter short as your red phone is pulling me away from my break, but I promise to write again soon.

She always thought that Sara was beautiful, even way before they first started talking. She often referred to her as "the Pretty Tengu" when talking to Itto. She eventually began to talk to her (outside of getting Itto and the gang out of jail) and slowly became smitten.

She has a small shrine in her home that's dedicated to the Oni. She hopes that, by praying to his ancestors, Itto will be a little bit safer. she doesn't take the best care of it, since she hates the idea of being a shrine maiden even if it's her own shrine, but still.

Her right leg is a prosthetic. She was born without it. She also wears braces on her arms and often uses elbow crutches.

She always has a first aid kit on hand. Even though she heals with her vision, she uses the first aid kit for herself. She also uses it for minor injuries that don't warrant elemental healing.

She has selective mutism. Itto, Heizou, and Sara are all pretty good at understanding her body language and are usually able to communicate for her if needed. She also has communication cards.

idc if it's not canon. Shinobu has scars on the sides of her mouth like Iguro Obanai from Demon Slayer. She also has a split tongue and lots of piercings.

Pep has type 1 diabetes and wears an insulin patch. Pep wears it on pep stomach, and has it decorated to look like a fish. It matches with some of the tattoos that pep has covering pep body.

She is autistic and has trouble regulating her volume. Being partially deaf doesn't help, and neither does the fact that she's constantly shouting over fireworks!

They have competitions with Itto to see who the kids of Hanamizaka like better! The kids know about this and milk it, getting both Yoimiya and Itto to be as awesome and fun as possible. Sara's had to intervene to stop Yoimiya from shooting off fireworks in the middle of the day in the city.

Okay so like. In a modern world, Yoimiya's definitely a decora girl. That's it. That's the headcanon.

Pep has a service dog named Kingyo! She's a boxer who helps with peps diabetes.
