I was doom scrolling through Instagram (yeah I know) when I came across this ad

More about the pride, any photos?

We have a two-day city pride since last year and this year we tried to do as many things as possible. It was SO much fun, lots of a things to do, a drag pride competition, a street party and even a parade. 🥰

There were programs for pretty much every generation of queer people which I loved. Since the recent increase of hate crime and intolerance towards queer people in the Netherlands, I really feel like we are in dire need of pride (especially also the activism). I'm glad more cities in the Netherlands decide to have their own pride aside from the bigger cities like Amsterdam.

sometimes i still can't believe that i finally have or can recognize the autonomy on parts of myself that seems so little to others. i had this realization while threading my fingers on my hair, it's a wolfcut, in curls, and short - just how it's supposed to be in my own liking. it's not straightened to its expensive and highest degree as it was during my pre-lesbian days, nor ridiculously long enough just to be recognized as feminine by others - especially men. there was this gnawing need before to be validated by them and I'm glad i caught up just in time to reevaluate things. i no longer value their opinion.

Happy pride to non-queer people in the LGBTQ+ community.

It always seems like the discussion is just Queers vs non-queers, where queer people are radical, all encompassing, accepting, etc, and non Queer people are not progressive, policing people's ide tities, or worth being exluded because we're not queer, so we aren't the target audience.

You are just as radical in your non conforming identity. Queer is just another label, and just like bi, pan, gay, lesbian, trans, etc should not be forced on you, queer shouldn't either. That doesn't make you a lesser part of the community. That doesn't mean you are inherently exlcusionary of queer people. It just means you aren't queer.

So happy pride to my non-queers in my community!! Love y'all

this year while we all celebrate pride month and celebrate ourselves as well as those who came before us and paved the way for us to do so, we must also think of those in gaza, queer or not, who live every day under a brutal occupation and don’t have that same privilege. happy pride, and may we see a free palestine in this lifetime.
