higuchi thoughts of the day: as much as i love the idea of her having some devastatingly destructive ability… her having a healing/support ability would explain so much of her character. like. her high ranking in the mafia despite (as far as we know) not being extraordinarily strong. her assignment to akutagawa + his resentment of her + her being so overprotective of him. the irl author’s connection to mori and yosano. dw about it
#what if it’s something like alleviating pain or slowing disease progression. a palliative care thing#if that’s the case then it would explain why it’s been a mystery for so long. asgr would've had to reveal akutagawa’s illness first#which only just happened timeline-wise#ik aku said he hasn’t told anyone about it but. i find it very hard to believe he could hide it from mori of all people. the literal doctor#but GOD it would just make so much sense.#i always thought it was weird that he has these ultra specific plot reasons for why he treats/treated atsushi and kyouka so badly#but for higuchi it’s just. unprovoked malice??? idk. i don’t buy it#and why does he even need an assistant. there are other mafiosi weaker/less loyal/more of a loose cannon than he is that don’t have one#but if she was assigned to him bc of his illness… him not being able to stand her bc her presence is indicative of his own weakness#her being overbearing bc she knows it’s entirely her responsibility to stop him from succumbing to his poor health#much more satisfying than the ‘he’s just an asshole’/‘she’s just a obsessed stalker’ idea that a lot of people believe#and it would add a whole new layer of context to that chapter of her saving his life and saying it’s her job to do so. hrmmmm.#i can invent an akutagawa and higuchi lore that’s sooooo copium#bsd#higuchi

*through gritted teeth* do NOT borrow grief from the future girl
#my (cough my parents) 13 year old dog has been sick since thanksgiving#and treatment would be both too expensive and too painful for an old dog :(#He’s happy and bouncy right now! Palliative care is doing him a lot of good and he’s doing SO much better than at thanksgiving thank god#We just don’t know a timeframe and since I live pretty far away I worry you know?#But ive also said my “final” goodbye like three times now to that dumb dog. He’s the comeback kid for real for real#He’s been my buddy since I was nine and I love him so much#Just wish I could be home to give him my love you know?#Feeling maudlin about it but it also feels silly to grieve him while he’s alive and ostensibly doing well#whispers from the ally

I haven't posted about my art in a while due to my major health issues.
From March 12, 2023, when I first located the lump in my left breast, to the present, it has been heart wrenching and challenging. I no longer have my father or mother, both have sadly passed away, to help me through this.
And I don't want to be a burden on my children.
My siblings ... have always been and continues to be distance ... which is the saddest part of going through any terminal illness alone. But sometimes, you have to walk away from what hurt you and you can't go back [no matter how much it breaks your heart ... God knows your journey.].
After being in remission for ovarian cancer from 2018 until 2023, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer with numerous bone metastasis.
The illness and treatment have drastically impacted my physical and mental health to the point where I have not been fully active. It has taken a toll on me.
Everything has changed. I am sad to admit, also, that many people have also changed. This is a devastating and horrible disease that no one should have to journey alone. But 'it is what it is' and I must keep fighting, whether with support or on my own.
I will always have God.
Cancer takes away everything. Each day is a battle, but this is my journey and forward I must go.
Stay safe. Be kind. Be humble. Be human.

completely absurd how they're trying to repeal laws about nosocomial infections, repeal protections, make it harder for people to sue. and have the audacity to blame patients who sue for rising medical costs.

Compassionate Care: The Vital Role of Nurse Case Managers in Hospice
Hospice care is one of the most profound forms of support in healthcare, centered on offering comfort and dignity to individuals nearing the end of life. Within this delicate field, nurse case managers play a critical role in ensuring patients receive compassionate, quality care while supporting their families through what is often a deeply emotional time. Their presence is not only necessary for the coordination of care but also vital for providing emotional and logistical guidance during this unique phase of life.
What Do Nurse Case Managers Do in Hospice?
Nurse case managers fulfill a multifaceted role in hospice care. At its core, they are tasked with coordinating care plans that are tailor-made for patients’ medical, emotional, and spiritual needs. They act as the touchpoint between patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. Here are some key responsibilities:
Developing Individualized Care Plans
A nurse case manager begins by assessing the patient’s condition, medical history, and expressed wishes. They design a care plan that respects personal preferences while addressing pain management, symptom control, and emotional wellbeing. For example, if a patient prefers to stay at home, the nurse case manager ensures that adequate in-home support and resources are provided.
Managing Symptom Control
Comfort is at the heart of hospice care. Nurse case managers work closely with physicians, nurses, and palliative specialists to adjust medications or therapies that alleviate symptoms like pain, nausea, or shortness of breath. Their expertise ensures patients remain as comfortable as possible throughout their hospice journey.
Serving as a Liaison
Hospice care involves a team approach, and nurse case managers act as the linchpin. They bridge communication between doctors, social workers, chaplains, and caregivers, ensuring that everyone involved understands the plan of care and their role in delivering it.
Supporting Families
Families often face immense stress and heartbreak as they prepare for the loss of a loved one. Nurse case managers provide not only medical guidance but also emotional support. For instance, they may help a family understand the signs of nearing death or guide them through difficult decisions, like when to transition to hospice care.
Advocating for Patient Wishes
One of the most important roles a nurse case manager plays is being an advocate for the patient. Whether it’s ensuring the patient’s wishes for spiritual practices are respected or advocating for better resources, they put the patient’s dignity and preferences above all else.
Skills Required for Success
Nurse case managers in hospice care need a unique combination of clinical expertise and interpersonal skills. Compassion is perhaps the most essential skill, as they deal with patients and families during some of life’s most difficult moments. Other critical skills include:
Strong Communication
They must communicate clearly and compassionately with families while also collaborating seamlessly with a care team that may include physicians, chaplains, social workers, and therapists.
Organizational Abilities
Coordinating care for multiple patients involves meticulous attention to detail and an ability to manage competing priorities.
Cultural Sensitivity
Hospice patients come from all walks of life, and nurse case managers must respect and honor diverse cultural and religious beliefs.
Problem Solving
Challenges often arise, whether it’s sourcing equipment for a home-care setup or resolving conflicts within a family. Nurse case managers need quick thinking and creative solutions.
The Impact of Nurse Case Managers
The impact of a nurse case manager in hospice care cannot be overstated. Their professional care often makes the difference between chaos and peace during a critical time.
For instance, consider a scenario where a patient wishes to spend their final days at home but requires specialized medications and equipment. A nurse case manager arranges home health aides, ensures proper delivery of supplies, and trains caregivers in providing basic medical support. This attentiveness transforms the experience for the patient and family, enabling them to focus on creating meaningful, lasting memories.
Equally important is their role in addressing family concerns. For example, a sibling may be struggling with the financial aspect of hospice care. The nurse case manager collaborates with a hospice social worker to explore financial assistance or insurance coverage, reducing stress and allowing families to focus on their loved one’s needs.
Elevating Quality of Life
At the heart of hospice care is the goal of enhancing quality of life, not just for patients but their families as well. Nurse case managers bring compassion and expertise to this mission, giving comfort both physically and emotionally to everyone involved. Through their efforts, patients live their final days with dignity, surrounded by understanding and support, while families find solace in knowing their loved ones are cared for.
Hospice care requires a concerted effort from an entire team, but nurse case managers are often its backbone. Their deep commitment ensures no detail is overlooked, no concern remains unaddressed, and no family feels alone during this overwhelming time.
If you or someone you love is considering hospice care, take heart in knowing that nurse case managers are there to guide you, shoulder the burden of logistical challenges, and help bring calm and comfort in moments that matter the most. Their role is more than a job—it’s a calling, and their compassion leaves an indelible mark on every life they touch.

I’m stepping a bit outside my comfort zone and starting something new.
My therapist could see how frustrated I get with people not knowing or understanding how sick I am. She floated the idea of me coming up with a social media project to help raise awareness for what I’m going through.
So I created a podcast! I’m very nervous about it, but also very excited! I’ll be talking about various topics about being disabled and terminally ill.
It’s available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, and Amazon Music!! So far the only thing available is my trailer, but I’ll be uploading short episodes weekly as long as my health lets me.
