Please do scream about it! I love hearing your thoughts
SO starting with the one that hit me like a ton of bricks today
Song of the Sea
Co Senseis Genma and Kakashi because neither can be spared completely from their duties to the village but between the two of them there is always someone guaranteed to be available (also Hiruzen is a petty man and this is 100% payback almost a decade later for kidnapping baby Naruto)
Sakura Sasuke Naruto team makeup.
Wildly different teaching styles that somehow mesh. Kakashi is more “give them the information and let them gnaw at it until they get it.” Genma is full dad with all the head pats and “good jobs” that doesn’t quite hide the fact that he is an absolute fucking monster hell bent on making all three of his adorable baby genin into monsters as well. More than once the kids are carried home by one or both of them (or clones) because they absolutely exhausted themselves. Lots of team dinners and trust building.
Oro-Sensei AU (Team Seven Style)
Loyal Orochimaru made team 7’s sensei.
Sasu Saku Naru set up
In true Orochimaru fashion he sees these two sad orphans and one sad girl with a family that doesn’t appreciate or care for her and just yoinks them. They’re his now. Who’s going to stop him? Hiruzen? Man can get fucked.
GENDER
Oro mostly unintentionally raises these three to be three genderqueer little chakra monsters that are everyone’s bi awakenings.and when I say monsters I mean M O N S T E R S. The others in the rookie 12 are asked to go up against them in the Chunin exams are just “???? So you want us dead is that it???”
Ghosts and Greenery
Kakashi as sensei.
Sasu Kiba Naru set up
All the ninken can see the ghosts and are side eyeing/getting bribed into silence by Naruto constantly. Kiba can sometimes hear/sense the ghosts eventually confronts Naruto who folds immediately and confesses everything. Tbh pretty instant bros. This only increases Sakumo’s insistence that Kiba is the perfect partner for Naruto (until Sasuke activates his sharingan and sees them all. Look they’re used to hiding from kakashi when he lifts the headband not the spontaneous activation of this child’s eyes out of nowhere).
Kakashi’s pack also act more as teachers in this because they’re helping train Akamaru just as much as they’re training the kids. Dog jokes constantly. Poor Sasuke is the lone cat in a pack of canines. He will never recover.
—
These are only some of them rn but I am fully willing to keep going the rest just have been mentioned to some extent or I haven’t thought about yet but am fully willing to.
(I know I do want a Ino Shika Naru team set up eventually. Don’t know where I would put that necessarily but I do know I want that.)

naruto crack au where kakashi manages to successfully drill the "never abandon your comrades" thing into team seven's heads
so when sasuke deserts naruto and sakura immediately desert with him. like he gets to the village gates and they're just waiting for him bags packed like "what took u so long we doing this or what"
he tries to get them to go back bc of course he does. "no you losers this is about me i'm going to kill my brother. also i'll have to kill my best friend for the super sharingan and you two are like the only people i talk to". but they do not listen. teamwork sasuke we will defeat your brother (OUR brother #communism) with the power of teamwork. just like kakashi-sensei said
suddenly orochimaru has to deal with three horrible little goblins with an even more codependent relationship than his old team
#naruto#team seven#orochimaru's favorite is sakura bc she's smart and respectful and gives kabuto headaches#kabuto's favorite is naruto bc he thinks he's funny#nobody's favorite is sasuke. he's fine with that tho#also sakura can still summon slugs she made a bet with tsunade ahead of time for the right to make the contract#kakashi keeps trying to get his team back but keeps approaching them one on one#which always ends in whoever he's talking to going ''i can't abandon my teammates sensei wtf''#obito is watching all of this from the bushes and laughing his ass off#the sound five live bc. nobody bothered to tell tsunade team seven had left until it was way too late#orochimaru keeps her updated tho#every time kakashi tries to sneak in and steal his kids back oro sends him back with pictures of how they're doing#''little sakura-chan is making excellent progress with chakra scalpels! you must be so proud! oh wait''#she hopes he dies#oro tells naruto who his parents are to spite jiraiya#unfortunately he does this when they're all still annoying little thirteen-year-old shitheads#so sakura and sasuke are both furious and don't talk to either of them for a day#they don't even know what they're mad about they're just Mad#meanwhile sakura's parents are happy to hear she's doing well and hope she writes soon#they don't. they don't really get the treason thing#team hebi/taka still forms ofc#it's an absolute disaster#sakura's a little sad when they finally ditch orochimaru bc she'd actually really enjoyed learning from him#like yeah he was an absolutely horrible human being but. she learned a lot!#he comes back later ofc#there's sorta an awkward moment when naruto finds out gaara got abducted and demands to go after him#sasuke: ok have fun#sakura: we're going too#sasuke: fuck#orochimaru: tell sasori i said hiiiii~ <3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY @akamikazae !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a very very short little thing because I'm so busy with other drawing stuff this october ( i know i know this i my fault) and then i could also just NOT decide which AU to write for (i went back and forth through all of them ARG) so this is MY NArt AU and Akami would be about 48-49 here. Snek meetup. Anyway Im glad we are friends !!!! hope you have and had a great dayy happy birthday
The boy just about reached the top of her hip bone, the hair pushed back behind a shiny new headband he had undoubtedly just gotten. He blinked curiously at her, as if he was taking her reaction in, moment by moment, as if he was trying to savour it. Akami’s stomach turned a little, this weird sinking feeling that always announced the big hole in her soul when there was anything relating to her father.
“I’m Mitsuki”, the boy told Akami what she already knew. “You must be….Akami?” he was friendly enough to state it as a question, though he clearly already knew who she was. She wondered when his father had told him or whoever else came before him about her existence or if MItsuki just found her on her own.
She stretched her shoulders a little. “I am Akami, yes,” she confirmed and almost added a honorific to that just to push the boy to be a little more respectful to her. She stopped herself though. He was not at fault for the complicated past she had with their creator.
“We have the same father,” Mitsuki stated and smiled a little. “That makes you like my older sister, right?”
Her stomach turned again. The big hole that had opened up was opening even wider, letting her stumble and fall through it like she was walking on a tightrope. Though she had had years since she had learned that her father was trying to clone himself in some underground lab or other, she somehow felt completely unequipped to deal with this: the real product of those experiments.
To say she had a troubled past with her own father was probably an understatement and not minding what he was doing was probably the healthiest choice she had made after the war. This kid in front of her was nothing but another branch that connected her to him, something she’d better not invite into her life. A lot of time and healing had gone on and Sasuke was better, Anko was better and Akami was better too.
But he was just a kid. When one thought about it logically, then one could think that clones are not separate, own humans, since their DNA wasn’t unique. But Akami didn’t believe that. This boy in front of her eyes wasn’t her father and if he grew up around people that cherished and loved him he’d also never become her father. DNA be damned.
Mitsuki wasn’t responsible for the sins of the person that created him, he had come up to her with his head held high and a smile, maybe searching for a family he didn’t know he had before. What people were there with him where he lived? Were there any? Sasuke had told her that Karin and Suigetsu had stuck around and that their kid was there too, but did that mean he was happy?
There was this part of her that wanted to take him away and keep him, raise him, just like she’d done with Sasuke, just to make sure he was going to turn out alright. But that hadn’t worked with Sasuke either and now she was much older and tired more easily. Shinobi business never meant a painless life growing into old age.
Mitsuki’s eyes watched her, waiting for a reply and it reminded her of one of her snakes. He was just a child. His child. But a child nonetheless.
The choice seemed impossible to make and yet it was surprisingly easy.
Akami put her hands onto her legs and leaned down to eye level the boy. “That's right,” she said, “I am your big sister.” She laughed a little and turned one strand of her hair that had greyed a little under her finger: “Though I am more like your aunt, when you consider my age.”
“Ahh,” the boy said, his eyes lit up so brightly that it took her aback, “Akami-nee. I’m so glad.” He definitely sounded like he meant it.
It was like light in his eyes and the smile on his face closed the open hole in her stomach. He was just a kid, his DNA didn’t define him. Why would it? It hadn’t defined her either.
“Did you just get promoted to Genin?” she asked in a friendly tone and tapped the headband that was still shiny and scratchless.
She thought about hers, laying at the top of her sideboard in her apartment. She retained it from when she was very young, but it looked incredibly worn down. “You can have a new one,” she’d been told, last time she wore it. But she was older now and retired from shinobi business so for the very few official events that she wore it the old one did just fine.
“That’s right!” he said and tapped it too. “I was accepted as a Genin even though father is not highly regarded. It was lucky.”
“Congratulations.” Akami smiled at him.
Her response brought something like pride in his eyes. “I wasn’t originally going to school, but father asked the hokage to accept me and then I was! I was suddenly around a lot of people, it was very interesting.”
Akami tried to picture her father, however he looked like now, walz right into the Hokage office and asking for his little experiment child to get an education. The image in front of her mind's eye almost made her laugh. “I know I tried to murder your best friend and take over his body, but can you still pay for my child’s education?”
“Lord Seventh is kind,” Akami replied. “Of course you were accepted.” Naruto would never hold his parentage over a kid like this. That just wasn’t the kind of person he was.
Mitsuki nodded. “I was happy also because my brother didn’t get this education, but I got the opportunity.”
She shook herself a little: “Brother?” How many of them were there? Was it another identical clone?
“Log,” Mitsuki reported. “He is about 18 years of age, I think. Supposed to be, I think.”
Akami did quick maths in her head. About Konohmarus age, she wondered to herself. That meant that either her father had experimented with clones already before the war (which might as well be possible), or that he had found a way to accelerate the ageing process. “Is there another?”, she asked next. “Brother of ours I mean…”
The boy shook his head: “Just Log and me and Akami-nee.”
Noted. “Well, that is two more siblings than I ever though I’d have. So thank you.” She ruffled the boy's hair. “And you guys are doing good?” She tried to keep the question casual, but couldn’t completely cloak the underlying worry. Mitsuki for his part didn’t look neglected and if he had a big brother around they could protect each other but still….
“I have nothing to complain about.” He said, which only half satisfied Akami.
“No experiments?” She asked.
He shrugged. “Nothing but the initial way we were born.” The way he phrased it sounded as if his birth was no different than any other birth, she wondered if he knew that his was absolutely not normal at all.
Putting both hands on his shoulders she directly looked at him: “Listen, Mitsuki, if anything - anything- ever comes up, you come straight to me. You pack your brother too if you want, but find me and I’ll take care of you.”
Mitsuki blinked so she grabbed his shoulders a little tighter to show that she meant it: “Promise me.”
He hesitated for a moment. Then he looked up. “Promise.”

Omg I just finished reading svsss!!! And now you have a naruto au about it!!!
I think either way Houhua Uchiha is hilarious, but especially in that way of *what do you mean he's actually competent/dangerous?* from elite ninja. He's absolutely a sneaky coward.
If he gets noticed by Orochimaru I think Houhua entire.... *everything* will entice Orochimaru in a way that's like. Put it in a jar. I want to put my blorbo in situations! Especially with his .... lack? Weird relation with moral (I mean both of them).
I want to know more about his genin team. Especially his sensei. Like. I know he unplayed his skills, but also he alway somehow has exactly what the situation calls for on a mission. His mission reports would be weird as hell. "Successfully solved village dispute by realizing nearby village was messing for farmer Xs crops because of family dispute about prized cow, solved with better fence and different trade route."
Just. I love this au. <3
Another one falls to the scum villain agenda, let's go !!!
YEAHHH YOU GET IT! No matter how strong he gets or may be, Houhua continues to project the aura of a very scared genin. He has whatever the opposite of killing intent is, and it throws all of his opponents off
I think that Orochimaru and Houhua would be fucking amazing to watch interact w eachother actually— Houhua is so fucking scared of him, which is typical of people to act around Oro, but like. Orochimaru seeing past the layers (both real and carefully cultivated) of a coward to see the alarmingly smart little rat underneath.
Orochimaru is poking him with a stick
You know that one scene where Asuma like, tricks Shikamaru into playing some sort of strategy game? And realizes he's really smart? Or smthn like that? Ok so something similar to that for Orochimaru and Houhua could be fun.
Orochimaru somehow sniffed out that there's a LOT more to Houhua than there seems and he's got a bit of an eye on him now, just for funzies. Just as a little side project
(And then Houhua maybe says something incriminating about immortality bc he was an immortal cultivator, and Orochimaru is instantly right behind him breathing heavily over his shoulder)
I think that if Houhua ever tells anyone ab his past life, not that the system would let him, (tho considering the reincarnation in naruto, there might be a loop hole to exploit there?) I'd want it to be Orochimaru who he tells, just bc I think he'd be the most interesting character to get involved in that.
Like, other characters you might get the usual "omg no way" song and dance, maybe some hurt/comfort or whatever, and like that's fun! But Orochimaru you'd get him trying to fucking dissect the system. He's putting his plots on hold to try and figure out how to get this "system" to manifest. And if he can kill it. Or better yet: harness it's power
Oh shit Houhua's genin team, I didn't even think of that
I am suddenly struggling to think of any naruto characters who are Itachi and Houhua's age that I can throw into a team for him actually. Am I going to have to make some ocs for this? I hope not tbh, I like stuffing as many canon characters as I can everywhere
Oh god and who would their sensei be too
I can't use Itachi for the team bc he graduated early, do we even know if he was on a genin team or did he just go straight to ANBU? No but he'd have to take the chunin trials no matter what, so hmm
Yk what? I think it'd be funny if Houhua was on one of Kakashi's past teams Sarutobi tried to saddle him with, the ones he'd like fail on day 1 then dumped back into the system
I dont think the timeline on that would actually add up correctly, but it'd be really funny so I don't care actually
hear me out: Houhua was actually on the very first team Sarutobi tried to saddle Kakashi with. And at first, he's like "omg,,, isn't this Kakashi? did I stumble on a secret plot route???? Is this finally my chance to gain more character relevance points????"
But no. It's not. And Kakashi fails him and his team just like he would have anyways.
Possibly with even more ruthlessness, depending on if Houhua has interacted w him before that.
Hmmm ok so timeline.
Houhua and Itachi are both 13 during the massacre, Houhua was about to graduate, but the massacre and then taking care of Sasuke in the year that followed delayed his graduation, which also meant he got dropped from the team he was supposed to be on (whichever team it was)
So then he graduates fr a year or maybe more later, right around the time Sarutobi is starting to try and peer pressure Kakashi into taking a team.
Kakashi is given Houhua's team, makes eye contact w Houhua like once, then immediatley turns around and leaves without comment.
(This also adds tension between them later on when Kakashi eventually does take Sasuke on as a student. Plus tension between Kakashi and Sasuke, who would remember him as the sensei who failed Houhua + whatever else Houhua let slip, possibly about knowing Kakashi trained itachi)
No fucking clue who he gets saddled with in the end, but it'd be funny if his team gained some sort of reputation of being cursed bc they keep being passed around by sensei's who inevitably drop them for various reasons.
Who do u guys think would be fun to see on his team tho, I really can't think of anyone who's the right age so I'm struggling over here
LOVEEE THE IDEA OF HIM SOLVING CONFLICTS IN REALLY OUT OF NOWHERE WAYS THAT RESULT IN NO BLOODSHED AND 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 BETTER TRADE DEALS AND ROADS THATS SO FUNNY
Its not even that he he doesn't want to kill, he just thinks it's messy and will only lead to MORE problems they'd be called in to fix later down the line. This is actually the easy way, you know!!
(Somewhere far away but still watching through his crows, Itachi goes through several emotions as he watches Houhua peacefully solve more than one dispute when he was brought there specifically for murder. He's kind of going through a lot. Actually.)
(I like to think that if Houhua had been made aware of the root of the Uchiha Massacre, he could have fr helped think up a plot to get them all out of it. Unfortunatley everyone was under the impression he was a silly little untalented 13 year old. So that never happened.)
Houhua gets the nickname of "the beaurocrat nin" or smthn silly like that bc hes always resolving conflicts via the power of paperwork. The silly title only helps to make him seem more harmless, which gives him even more of an advantage in a fight when it comes to taking the enemy by surprise

Happy thought: Tobirama adopting a recently orphaned baby Orochimaru, because he recognised a fellow brilliant but misunderstood mind. Lotsa trauma averted, because Hiruzen obviously can't favor his two other students over his sensei's kid, Tsunade is thrilled to have cousin her age, Oro has actual familial connections instead of a vaguely defined 'teammates'...
/I got warm inside/ Thank you! it's such a splendid idea, i'll write in down in my notebook for sweet PLANS.

SS Month - Day 6
Day 5 | Day 6 | Day 7
Prompt: Magical Girl AU
Warnings: Mentions of mild violence
Another week of school, another monster to fight.
Sakura - now the magical Ruby, heaved a sigh as she ran through the courtyard, clutching her fist to her chest. Her visor wasn’t quite cracked yet, but that last blow had really tested its mettle.
“Ruby, where are you?” A familiar voice rang through her earpiece, harried and winded.
“Near the gym,” she responded as soon as she could draw breath, whirling around to stare up at the giant snake slithering determinedly towards her. “Are the boys safe?”
“Pearl is watching them at the cafeteria.” Amethyst huffed a laugh. “She nearly fainted when Naruto jumped into her arms.”
Ruby chuckled to herself; that poor girl would never be able to compose herself around him.
Turquoise chimed in: “That stupid snake has reinforcements near the front office. Ruby, Amethyst, steer him away!”
“I’m already on it!” Ruby narrowed her eyes at the giant creature and readied her other fist, muttering under her breath, “Sorry, Principal Senju…!”
DOOOOOOOM…
The ground splintered under her knuckles, creating a wide divide in the grass between herself and the snake. The earth crackled in a shockwave towards him and caved beneath his weight.
An ear-splitting shriek pierced the air, coming from the beast’s horrible maw. Ruby gritted her teeth, resisting the urge to clap her hands over her ears.
“Why, oh why couldn’t you decide to come on a test day?” She shouted at him, picking up the pace until she was sprinting towards the snake. Her voice grew louder and angrier, eyes flickering, as she added, “I was having lunch with SASUKE-KUN!”
----
“What’s happening? What’s going on?” one of the students was panicking, pacing back and forth from where they were trapped in the cafeteria.
“Everyone remain calm,” Mahou Shoujo Pearl was instructing with a soothing tone. “The giant snake is being dealt with as we speak. Once the coast is clear, you will be allowed to return to your classes.”
Sasuke sighed quietly from his spot at the corner table, resting his chin atop his interlaced fingers. It had been almost fifteen minutes, and lunch was nearly over - yet half the school was acting like an earthquake warning had sounded.
“I wonder what we did this week,” Shikamaru drawled from beside him. “I don’t think the Snake has attacked us for at least a few.”
The dark-haired boy shrugged. “Maybe it’s because of Naruto’s forty-two on yesterday’s quiz.”
“C’mon, teme, I doubt that snake is Oro-sensei. Wouldn’t they have fired him by now?” Naruto questioned with an irritated glare. “Besides, that was the day I got sick! You can’t blame me for that! I would’ve gotten a higher score if I had had more time.”
“And whose idea was it to drink that sketchy milk carton again?” Sasuke rebutted.
“Kiba dared me,” the blond protested. “It was a thousand easy yen!”
Rolling his eyes, he turned his attention to the windows overlooking the school’s botanical area. Much of the student body was practically glued to the windows pointed towards the rest of campus, where some girl in (admittedly a cute) black-and-white seifuku with a round ruby pinned to the front. Her helmet and visor looked almost ridiculous, but its red tint concealed much of her features.
She was either very brave or very foolish to be running at a giant snake with nothing more than her bare fists. Then again, Mahou Shoujo Pearl didn’t seem to have any weapons either.
Several boys exclaimed as she hit the trunk of the snake, and his scales practically disintegrated in the strike, revealing a fleshy belly. The beast’s roar of pain made the windows rattle dangerously.
“I wonder how much this is gonna cost the principal to repair,” Sai commented offhand, making the other three startle.
“Where did you come from?” Naruto squawked in surprise.
“I’ve been here the whole time.” The pale boy smiled that unnerving smile.
----
“Once again the day is saved,” Temari said sarcastically as the four girls walked out of homeroom.
“I hope Tsunade-sama won’t be too upset that I broke my visor…” Ino heaved a sigh. “You really came in clutch with your fan. Thanks.”
Sakura waggled her brows at Hinata. “How was your time babysitting Naruto? Hmmmm…?~”
Hinata’s face turned bright red and she cupped her hands over it.
“C’mon, you’d do the same thing with Uchiha.” Temari nudged her and grinned. “Don’t think I didn’t see how you almost spilled your strawberry milk all over yourself when he asked to sit next to you.”
It was the rosette’s turn to blush, and the other girls laughed.
“Hey,” a boy’s voice made them turn around.
Ino’s face brightened. “Sai!”
“Hey, Creepy,” Temari greeted, hands stuffed into her skirt pockets. “What’s up?”
“Naruto was wondering if you would like to stop at the arcade after school.” He paused, gaze sweeping over the others. “All of you are invited.”
“O- oh.” Hinata poked her fingers together. “I would love to, but my father needs me to come straight home.”
“A pity,” the boy agreed mildly. “What about you, Yamanaka-san, Haruno, Temari?”
“I told you already; my last name is Sho,” the sandy-haired girl interrupted.
“We would love to,” Ino confirmed, linking her arm with Sakura’s. “Right? Sakura?”
“I guess.” The girl smiled. “I haven’t hung out with Naruto for a while.” Turning to Hinata, she added, “Want me to get you a souvenir?”
She ducked her head. “If you want to.”
“Excellent. I’ll tell the others that you’re coming.” Without another word, he turned and strolled away.
“I never actually said I’d go,” Temari muttered irritably.
“Yeah, but he said the others will be going. That means Shikamaru.” Ino flashed her a teasing grin. “Besides, I think he’d tease you more if you didn’t go.”
“I guess.” She heaved a sigh and folded her arms.
“Today has been quite the day…” Hinata stretched, a delicate yawn escaping.
“I’ll say,” Principal Tsunade’s voice made the four jump in surprise. The tall woman stepped out from the staff room with a hand on her hip, a solemn expression on her face. “Step in, girls. We have a lot to discuss.”

● Teoría No.1
● Teoría No.2
la posición en la que está 🧘♂️
"Gasshou Shibari", o "Gote Gasshou"

Meme; send me headcanons for my muse. || In the manga and anime we saw how Team Asuma Sarutobi got earrings as soon as they graduated to genin or chuunin. Maybe that's a family tradition. I like to think that Team Hiruzen Sarutobi got earrings from sensei upon graduation as well, and that Jiraiya's are just covered by his hair. Orochimaru and Tsunade wear earrings. Why not Jiraiya? Oh, and Orochimaru wears one dupe. When running from Konoha, he lost one original earring. Orochimaru doesn't know Jiraiya found it on the initial chase. Orochimaru had to go to a jeweller to have a duplicate replacement made. The fake earring is a little lighter, and it annoys Orochimaru tirelessly, but not enough to do something about it.
I’m so down for this! Jiraiya with some cute little studs! Anything else would probably get caught in his hair like how he usually has it. I like the idea of Oro replacing his since its a precious moment/memory. It’s something from the past they all hang on to.

im scared of the wider fandom so i came here to bother you instead, because you have the most based takes
ok so. i feel like as a kid, orochimaru had a weird crush on hiruzen. exact same vibe as kid kabu's crush on oro. they admired and resented him, because he was everything they wanted to be (the hokage, master of almost all ninjutsu), but he was also holding them back. not letting them fulfill their true potential. to them, he was a wall they could never climb over, a constant one-sided struggle to overcome their sensei.
of course, all of that culminated in them killing him. they clearly take immense joy in the act, even pleasure. it distinctly mirrors kabuto after sasuke killed orochimaru; this sort of manic desire for something to struggle against. some kind of authority holding them back, someone for them to really sink their teeth into. as a child, they attached themself to him because they had no one else. and he indulged that bond, showing them just enough kindness, just enough love to keep them dependent, but never enough to make them feel like they were worth it. hiruzen saw orochimaru as both his child, and a dangerous parasite. orochimaru saw hiruzen as both their dad, and their prison warden.
do u fuck w/ the kabuto parallels or am i getting too freudian. lmao. anyways thats all uhh sorry for bothering u, love ur posts, keep up the good work o7
my take isnt even that good compared to most of my priv moots, im just an average viet with 3/5 reading comprehension🧍
its just really fucking weird out there with all the anti-intellectual kids online
i honestly only post slightly lukewarm orokabu take for 5 followers, two of them russians and one of them chinese, they dont even speak english, ik im cooking when they liked my posts
ALSO Yes please do bother me about more oro and kabuto's hcs I'm desperate to talk more about them than skimming fat of their *gesturing at all of them*
I fully agree with you about Oro's admiration toward Hiruzen is similar to Kabu's admiration toward Oro. Hiruzen was a fascinating case of good teacher but shit parent, he raises Oro and pay special attention to Oro but as a teacher, not a guardian or parent. Despite knowing Oro's wanted a parental figure/ someone to guide them and accept them. Hiruzen doesn't just treat Oro as his own kid, he treats the entire village as his own kids.
And for a kid, this sort of special attention could get into their head. It's easy for Oro to think maybe, Hiruzen love them or adore them or possibly even cherish them. But Hiruzen doesn't act like their parents so this must be something else. And they'd ponder over what sort of love is that. What does it all mean? what are they to Hiruzen? what can they be to Hiruzen? what can they do for Hiruzen?
I think the exact moment Oro become Jonin was when Hiruzen stop giving a shit about them. Because to Hiruzen, he did his part of "watching over the village's kids", Oro isn't a child anymore and there's the entire village to raise.
And it's so tragic because to Oro, they had thought there's something special between them and their teacher (that they barely figure out). While Hiruzen only remember Oro as they were (when they were a child)
I always think back to the flashback during Oro vs Hiruzen's fight, its interesting how Hiruzen doesn't remember Oro as a Sannin, THE legendary sannin, this shouldve been their greatest achievements as one of Konoha hero. But Hiruzen recalled Oro as the child he failed to raise as his own.
This led to my next point, the reason why i think Oro resent Hiruzen to the point of killing him. When Oro become Jonin was also the exact moment Danzo closing in like a bloodhound.
I think Oro only works with Danzo with the expectation that Hiruzen would notice them again, like how kids turn rebel in hope their parents will finally look at them. And Danzo is Danzo, he would immediately catch on what fragile adoration Oro have with their teacher and think of way to use it.
By the time Hiruzen did notice Oro again, Oro doesn't care anymore. They've been digging their grave for years in hope that anyone would notice them, while Danzo completely isolated them. What Oro behind for Hiruzen when they flee the village was something cold and full of hatred.
And personally, I think when Oro found Kabuto. They spoiled him rotten, drown him in attention and praises and teach him everything under the sun, he's getting everything that Hiruzen withhold from Oro.
And it made things complicated because Kabuto did have a mother who dotes on him and teaches him and love him and Oro isn't quite right. Kabuto doesn't think of Oro as his parents. But he still craves parental acknowledgement from Oro ( l really don't know what up with him/ affectionate)
Kabuto doesn't know what to make of it. And it all loop back into another cycle in this case the role is reversed for Oro. In this case, it's Kabuto going What does it all mean? what is he to Oro? what can he be to Oro? what can he do for Oro?
also i absolutely do fw Freudian/Oedipus orokabu its like a point i tried to make in a fic im working on. I really want more fics about them from this angle.
#thanks for the 🐍#yap hour#i was also one of those weird kid who never get along with my peers and spend most with the teachers :\#I did think of some teachers more than what a student should its nothing new bc i move on but it was there and it is what it is#i also dont think i have any ideas what romantic love is and for a while i was certain im bi#bc id fall in love with anyone i adore who'd look at me twice. but it wasnt love. I just wanted them to stay with me#some thoughts on jirai being oro's father figure and tsuna struggle w motherhood project her empty nest on oro. childish oro in general#and kabuto as kabuto#but thats another yap post for later#kabuto yakushi#orochimaru#hiruzen sarutobi

Is Oro not a man? Since when?
orochimaru's gender has been the subject of discussion since the early manga. for the most part, orochimaru is referred to as male and doesn't particularly seem to care, although when we first meet him his host body is that of a woman (which we know bc he showed it off to freak out lord third)
however, at some point in boruto (can't tell you when bc. i don't care), mitsuki asks if orochimaru is his mother or his father. orochimaru says it's a stupid question, but then later tells mitsuki "i have been a man and at times a woman, as well as something not of this world. outside appearances don't matter. the will to uncover all truth... that is the core of my being"
this is consider by some to be confirmation that orochimaru doesn't identify as a binary man. also, both hinata and ino have referred to him as a "mom friend".
personally, i don't think orochimaru actually cares all that much. he never tries to get anyone to see him as particularly male or female, and even when he went undercover in the chuunin exams arc, his disguises as a genin and a jounin sensei were both fairly androgynous (not as rasa, but that's a bit different). since the language he speaks is japanese, he wouldn't think about english pronouns regardless, so i don't bother being consistent with how i refer to him.

"hmm? oh, you like this kinda music?" jojo asks, leaning over to show oro his phone screen.
"maybe when my head is less stuffy," oro rumbles, but gathers the energy to at least sit up a little while cocooned in their blanket.
"haha, that's fair. this's by a metal singer, goes by 'zylla,'" jojo explains.
"there's barely any footage of 'em online, but looks like fish folk to me. maybe even like us?"
oro scoffs.
"wouldn't count on it. they'd have to be hiding their true identity, especially as an artist."
"hmm, maybe..."
#splatoon oc#splatoon ask blog#splatoon rp#oro sensei#jojo#paint#misc#it would be extremely funny if oro was the shortest out of the three of them

Ninja Daily: Vapors 17
Five ninja sat uncomfortably close in a stall. Jiraiya had managed to sit across from Tsunade, leaving the two boys to pile in next to him and Shizune to linger at the end of the table for a long moment, before she cuddled Tonton closer and sat down next to her mentor. Naruto made a reach for a sake saucer, but the taller blonde slapped his hand away with nearly enough force to break the delicate bones in his hand. He resentfully glared at her, holding his hand to his chest.
"Serves you right, loser," Sasuke said in a low undertone, managing to become the new target of Naruto's ire. The boys squirmed, engaging in under-the-table warfare with kicks and elbow jabs.
Tsunade gave her old teammate a distinctly unimpressed expression. "I didn't know you were dragging around brats now. Going to get those ones killed too?" Shizune winced at that particular bit of bluntness, but Jiraiya knew better than to react. She was trying to drive him away. Calmly, he poured drinks for the three adults, noticing Shizune's raised hand a moment late. Tsunade solved the problem by slamming down her drink and then pushing the saucer away.
"Have you heard about what happened yet?"
The older blonde's eyes narrowed. "What are you talking about, pervert?"
Sasuke spared a moment from his covert war against Naruto to smirk at that insult. He hadn't been pleased by their guide's habit of 'stopping to observe the sights'. It was one of the few times when he deigned to outwardly agree with Naruto—the man's behavior was an embarrassment and completely degraded the often-civilian women he took advantage of to leer at. Plus, he was still trying to process the strange way the white-haired man had looked at him before off-handedly mentioning that he looked just like his mother. Sasuke shuddered in his seat.
When it came, the reply was measured, calm, and almost emotionless. "Orochimaru went and founded his own village, which he used as leverage to kill the Kazekage, take his place and have the two groups attack Konoha from the inside during the Chuunin exam."
Tsunade visibly expressed surprise- a minor victory for Jiraiya. He had her off balance. Shizune didn't have her mentor's reticence and leaned forward, face twisted into dismay. Tonton began to wiggle when her grip tightened. "What happened?"
Jiraiya very noticeably did not look down her kimono when she leaned forward, Naruto noted with some surprise while he tried to pull his aching shins out of Sasuke's reach. His face was the most serious the boys had ever seen. "I killed Oro- the bastard, but Sandaime-sama… Sensei is dying. He's in a coma. Tsunade, the village is in dire need. That vulture Danzo and his cronies are doing everything they can to steal as much power as possible before Sensei is even cold. We need a strong candidate for Hokage. Someone who no one can claim isn't qualified for the job."
Naruto's eyes were wide at the dramatic way the information was laid out, but everyone else had regained their feet. "No." Tsunade shook her head, ponytails swishing over her shoulders. "Absolutely not. That job…" She unconsciously splayed her fingers across her collarbones, brushing against a pendant. "Only a moron would take that job!"
Sasuke sent a genuinely considering look at Naruto, his thoughts written plainly over his features for once. 'Good news, if that's true we have a great candidate.' Tsunade caught the look and gave a mean, mildly hysterical sound of amusement, but no one else acknowledged it. He'd expected Naruto to react to the other blonde's declaration, but the other boy was staring at the older woman across the table with disgust frozen on his features. 'Maybe he gave up on that dream,' Sasuke idly thought. 'He hasn't mentioned it since before… He hasn't mentioned it since before the exam.'
"Fuck you, old lady!" Naruto banged a fist on the table, standing up so violently that the bench was pushed back.
'Ah, there's the reaction,' Sasuke thought blandly.
"The Hokage have been some of the greatest people born to our village. You can't possibly say that the Sandaime was a moron. He was brilliant, like the Yondaime! I'm going to be the Hokage one day and you won't say crap like that then!" He leaned across the table aggressively, shouting into her face with his hands planted on the table surface.
Shizune covered her dark eyes with the hand that wasn't strangling Tonton. Eyes the color of honey, ringed by ridiculously long blonde lashes narrowed dangerously. Her left hand shot out and tangled into the front of Naruto's shirt, pointed nails digging into the fabric. "Listen, kid," she snarled. "I have known people with ten times more talent than you with that same dream, and they all ended up dead chasing it. You don't have a chance. You should give up now, while you still can. There's some good advice for you."
"Why would I give up, when a loser like you already has that market cornered," Naruto jeered. "I don't know why the pervert even bothered to track down someone as old and bitter as you!" Jiraiya twitched in his seat.
Always ready to chime in with an insult, Sasuke added, "We might be better off with the pervert in charge than a coward." He glanced over at his teammate, who looked significantly less idiotic than usual and hadn't kicked him in almost a minute. "The idiot might even do a better job. Come on. We're wasting our time." He turned to slide out of the seat, dismissing the fact that Naruto was still trapped in Tsunade's monster grip.
"Don't you walk away from me," the older woman practically roared. "You brats! You have no idea what I've been through that led me to know that position is bad news!" She dropped her alcohol untouched, letting the liquid splash over the table and grabbing Sasuke by his obnoxiously wide collar. Tsunade then proceeded to bodily lift both boys above the table, letting them kick futilely. Naruto managed to clip Jiraiya on the head pretty well, but she was too furious to laugh at his misfortune and the shoeprint in his hair.
Naruto gave her back just as good as he got with kicks and muffled exclamations, face red from both oxygen deprivation and mindless rage. Jiraiya joined Shizune in escape, slumping down in his seat to crawl out under the table on his hands and knees while the more conventional path was blocked by struggling adolescent feet.
"And don't you dare call me old," she added, as if an afterthought. "I'm almost a full year younger than that white-haired moron you followed here!"
There was a moment of silence, then Naruto's face twisted in mild surprise. "Holy shit, you're that old? I thought you were more like thirty than a gazillion." A small, squeaking sound of inestimable rage escaped through Tsunade's dropped jaw. The muscle below Jiraiya's right eye twitched, and he paused in his stealthy retreat to slowwwwwly turn around.
"You're getting off topic, idiot," Sasuke choked out even though the words were muffled by the collar that was currently covering almost his entire face.
"The bastard has a point," Naruto rallied in much the same easy way as he'd just insulted two of the three adults at the table. "You're still a loser, and you're wrong about being Hokage! The Hokage protects the village and everyone in it." He practically shone with the force of his conviction. The darkness and newly acquired doubt in that particular ambition that someone who knew him would see was completely invisible to Tsunade's eyes.
As someone who did see the crack in the slight pause Naruto gave mid-sentence, Sasuke shifted uncomfortably. Something that was still raw related to their missing teammate tainted the way he thought about what the loser said. He usually felt derisive when the idiot made declarations like that one. But… 'Maybe Naruto isn't such an idiot after all. The idea of wanting to protect your precious people… If I had precious people left, I would want to protect them from Itachi.'
Sakura had definitely not been a precious person. But she had been familiar and increasingly tolerable. Even if she had remained as annoying as she had been at the start, he would still have tried to protect her from enemies.
Maybe Naruto was onto something with the idea of protecting people you loved. That was a lot like getting revenge for people if you had never failed to keep them safe from a monster in the first place. It would be accomplished in much the same way, after all. Killing Itachi and others like him.
Tsunade's grip momentarily loosened while she stared at the blonde, some strange emotion passing over her face. Of course, with Jiraiya and Shizune at a slightly safer distance and Sasuke's face covered by his collar, the only one who saw it was also the only one without the social skills to recognize that he'd just made the busty woman think about something else. Her eyes softened, and she let go of both boys in order to bury her face in her hands, elbows splayed out on the table. Naruto yelped as his tailbone connected with the seat, while Sasuke missed the bench altogether and managed to be the only person in the world to fall to the floor and struggle his way out of his shirt in a semi-dignified manner.
Tsunade's shoulder shook, though whether she was laughing or crying was anyone's guess. Jiraiya swooped back in and extracted both preteens, bundling them off into Shizune's custody and quietly asking if she could please take them to the hotel, he needed a word with his old teammate. She was actually flustered enough to comply.
"You're pretty good at that," Karin said blandly, not looking at Aiko at all. She licked a fingertip and turned the page of the medical text she was reading, face not displaying any of the frustration Aiko would have felt in her place. 'Anatomy of Chakra Systems: How it Can Go Wrong; Third Edition' sounded like a book used for torture, not education.
The taller redhead grimaced. "Very funny, Karin." She gave up on the attempt at chakra chains for the moment, viciously kicking a rock that she could displace her anger on to. It bounced across the training ground on the outskirts of town, ending up in a patch of mud.
Her companion raised one eyebrow silently. Aiko flushed. 'What is it about this girl that gets me so flustered?' she griped. Karin had some sort of sixth sense for making Aiko feel immature and silly.
With a sigh, Aiko ran through a mental list of what she should get done for the day. With the reconstruction occupying a good portion of her time, she had been neglecting her regular training.
'I can't go another day without trying to get the senbon trick to work,' she decided. She'd been putting it off for a while. Anko had demonstrated a wrist-flick that sent a brace of senbon hidden under fingerless gloves flying. It looked really cool, and was a low energy, low chakra way of turning around a fight… especially if she poisoned them. They weren't poisoned yet, of course. Until she had gotten to a point where she aimed them reliably, that would be a phenomenally stupid idea.
"That's my cue to leave," Karin said dryly, marking a spot in her book.
Aiko blinked at the other girl, confused. "What are you talking about?"
A theatrical sigh filled the air, and the older girl held up two fingers. "One. You're staring at the target circle and rotating your wrists, indicating that you're thinking about possibly skewering my person with badly aimed senbon again."
"I said I was sorry," Aiko grumbled a bit bitterly. Karin gave her a withering look and plowed over the mild objection.
"Two. Sasuke-san and one more person are coming in this direction, and fast. I don't know the other, but it's like monstrously big. It must be that Sannin he left with. Sasuke doesn't seem to like me at the best of times, and right now his chakra signature feels really weird. It's really.." she scrunched up her nose. "It's really still, kind of, and he feels very sad. If I had ever felt another chakra signature like Sasuke's, I would say it was a different person. But his is so unique." Karin's eyes glazed and she dreamily floated off on a tangent, as she often did when she tried to describe the unique way she understood the world. A bit bewildered, Aiko let her. "I think it must be connected to the Sharingan. But he also just has the most beautiful aura, Aiko."
It would probably be best to pretend not to hear the sigh, Aiko decided. "Okay then." She glanced at her target, wondering how long she'd have to practice until Sasuke showed up. She didn't want to skewer him either. "How long til he's here?"
Karin closed her eyes for a moment, entering that clear, practical state of mind she slipped into when there was intellectual work to be done. She bit her lower lip just once before she opened her eyes and mouth. "About two minutes, if he keeps a steady pace. He'll be cutting right through there, about forty feet north of us." She frowned, noticing something. "Which is rather bad of him, he'd only come this way if he were avoiding using the gates. He and that Jiraiya person are slipping in through an unpatrolled section. I don't sense Naruto or anyone else either. Something important must have happened."
'That's really weird. Maybe Naruto is with Tsunade?' Aiko thanked her housemate and waved her off, finally getting to start working on hitting that damn target. Anko had made this move look so easy, slipping out ten senbon one right after another with highspeed and impeccable aim. When Aiko did it, they all tended to flop out at once and fall to the ground about a foot away from her outstretched hand.
'Maybe I need to try one at a time.' Instead of packing them all back under her glove, she slipped just one senbon in and tucked the rest into her thigh pouch. After her rough count indicated that a minute and fifty seconds had passed but she still didn't sense Sasuke's chakra signature, she frowned. Granted, she wasn't a sensor like Karin, but it was still embarrassing that a genin could hide from her. 'Jiraiya must have either taught him how to block or be blocking for him,' she decided.
Then she decided to take a chance. At worst, she was talking to herself and no one would know. If Karin had been right, she'd fool him into thinking that she still had one over him. Aiko repressed a smirk. 'Maybe the impulse to prank poor Sasuke is contagious.'
"Sasuke-kun, you're ten years early to successfully sneak past me," she idly called out. For a moment, a chakra signature fluttered in and out of her ability to feel out of what had to be surprise. She'd managed to shake him much more than she would have guessed. She smiled to herself. 'Oh yeah, paydirt.' Funny, that. He really shouldn't be too surprised to be caught out by someone of a higher rank.
The redhead gave a deep sigh, flicking her wrist again to send just the one senbon flying. Remarkably, it hit the target. She tried to exercise similarly good aim with her teasing. "Isn't my cute little kohai going to say hello, after you've been gone so long? It hurt my feelings, you know, to wake up in the hospital alone." There may have been a little bit of genuine bitterness in that sentence. She slipped another senbon out of her pouch to ascertain if the hit was a fluke or indication that she'd figured the basic move out before she added a second.
Then the two men behind her actually dropped their chakra cloaking technique and she almost literally choked in surprise, dropping the senbon into the dirt and whirling around to see that the fucking scary signature that had only the barest of similarities to Sasuke's (and what the hell was Karin smoking? Did she even feel the same things Aiko did when she used Kagura of the Mind's Eye?) and that the other belonged to about eight feet of big, blue man.
She swallowed, hard, and wished the next words out of her mouth were a little more intelligent than "You're not Sasuke." Aiko did her level best to sink into the ground.
In her short career as a ninja in this batshit world, she had managed to push back fear many times. Aiko knew that she did not have the plot armor that the manga characters had, but she could have also have been relatively certain that the no-name opponents she fought had weaknesses. Most of them could be outsmarted. She took out most of her opponents in something other than direct combat—she sensed them, poisoned them, or herded them where she needed them or something like that. Occasionally she had to revert to taijutsu, but that was her best skill.
She could not push back this fear, because she recognized these two people by their coloring and clothing. There was absolutely zero chance she could outsmart or outfight these two.
Uchiha Itachi lowered his head slightly and took off the hideous, bell-ringed hat, letting it fall to the side. "No." Calm red eyes cut into her face as if looking for something underneath her skin. "I am not." The man beside her grinned with utterly terrifying pointed teeth. 'Is that just a Kririgakure thing?' some portion of her brain that still operating managed to question.
The part of her brain that wasn't functioning helped her blurt out, "Is now a bad time to scream like a little girl and run for my mommy?" She fought the urge to back up and put as much distance as possible between her and these guys. That wasn't the ninja thing to do. At the moment, it seemed like a fabulous idea.
Kisame (that was fucking Hoshigaki Kisame ten feet from her, looking dangerous as all hell) gave a short, barking laugh. "That would be a very bad idea." He bared his teeth at her. "You wouldn't get very far, kid."
Indeed. Her physical conditioning was nowhere near theirs, eliminating both flight and taijutsu as life-saving possibilities. 'Suddenly, being a shinobi who specializes in taijutsu seems like a terrible idea. When there are monsters like this around, anyway.' Her right hand drifted down to her thigh pouch, where she had poison, kunai and explosive tags. "No, but I think fighting wouldn't end much better," she pointed out in a calm tone utterly at odds with the hysteria bubbling up.
'Itachi is supposed to secretly be a good guy, right? He probably won't kill me. I think.' The thought wasn't that comforting. 'I can't beat them, I can't really stall them for long, and I definitely can't just let two S-class criminals pass me into town.'
"How about we have a nice civil conversation and then you two leave as reformed men, happy to abandon whatever nefarious things you had planned?"
'That plan might work for Naruto. Maybe I also inherited therapy-no-jutsu, despite the total lack of charisma I've shown so far?' Ugh, long shot. She slipped a finger through the loop of a kunai, pretending not to know that the older two definitely saw the move and could have killed her at least five times while she made it. Each.
"A decent plan," the taller man leered. "But not as good as the original plan, sorry." He hefted his gigantic sword.
"Kisame."
Everyone stopped to look at the Uchiha, who was still staring at her with unnerving focus. She felt her legs begin to shake.
"Leave us. Continue with the plan."
His hand fell from the handle of his sword, and Kisame shook his head fondly. "I suppose I'll find a better fight, then." In a flash he was gone, chakra signature still unbound and almost certain to attract a lot of attention, very fast. Aiko swallowed, hard, and hoped against hope Karin wouldn't wander right to him to find out why 'Sasuke' had been feeling so strange. No, she wouldn't. She might have mistaken Itachi for Sasuke when he was repressing his chakra, but not when he was practically shouting his presence.
"Why did you think I was someone else." His face was as blank as his tone, but she knew that if he hadn't cared he would have left.
She instantly felt like ten kinds an idiot. 'Of course it would be worrisome to an S-class criminal who happens to be a spy that some random Chuunin apparently sensed him when he was meant to be stealthy. I can't tell him that it wasn't me who sensed him without selling out Karin, and she doesn't deserve to get involved in this.' She was trapped.
"I'm not telling you shit," she spat, feeling quite a bit less brave than she sounded. Irritation or something quite like it flashed through his red eyes in the instant before she broke eye contact and flung three kunai at the bulk of his body and shot to her left, fingers shooting together to start a handsign sequence and not succeeding. That failure was in large part due to the rather large, warm hand that had captured both hands and forced them together with the palms facing outwards so that she couldn't form handsigns. The other hand pushed against her shoulder with uncomfortable force, pinning her against a tree. Reflexively, she kicked out at his shins and received a tightened grip in response.
"I do not play games, kunoichi."
Up close, he seemed much taller. Perhaps it had just been the fact that he'd been standing next to Hoshigaki that had made her think he wasn't so big. Not that height mattered, but she was used to her unusual height putting her only about six inches below most adults. She really did feel like a child now, subdued almost instantly like she'd been naughty and merely needed correction. She swallowed, knowing that he could probably feel the rabbit-like flutter of her heartbeat through his palm.
He probably sensed the angry presence barreling straight for him before Aiko did, but it might have been close. It was a presence she was very familiar with, after all. She started to smile, feeling inestimably relieved that her sensei had pulled through, followed by what felt like Gai. That was when her eyes met those of the man pinning her for the third time. This time, she didn't marvel at their color or coldness. Instead, she found herself mildly surprised to perceive that she was in a world of black-and-white, and that the redness was still pure and intense. It was possibly more intense than usual because it was the only color visible.
"Tsukyomi," he intoned, sounding almost bored. "I have almost literally all the time in the world for you to explain how you sensed my presence." Aiko hyperventilated, tugging at the ropes that bound her to a cross and trying not to look frightened when he pulled out a short blade. 'If he isn't evil, he is doing an excellent imitation,' she noted weakly. 'That in mind, I can't tell him Karin was the one who sensed him. He might go find her. She's an important village asset now.'
She said nothing, averting her eyes and allowing herself to go limp, doing her very best to ignore his presence and recede into her own mind. That lack of struggle made his next words seem a bit futile and redundant. "This is a dimension of my own making where time passes as I wish and I control all. You cannot hope to fight me here."
'This is the part where he disembowels me, right?' She braced for the pain. 'Is it Tartarus who was disemboweled every day by an eagle? I haven't brushed up on my mythology lately.' The thought almost made her giggle out of some bizarre form of nerves and sheer terror.
'Go inside, where he can't hurt you,' she reminded herself, thinking of the lessons on torture resistance and wearing them like a cloak.
Of course, a cloak didn't keep her safe from the blade that started by tracing a line up her arm, slicing off chunks of flesh.
"How did you sense me, little one?"
Dog felt the silent scream of adrenaline that had begun the instant he sensed those two monstrous presences emerge in training ground seven, eyes glued to the figure of his long-term student in the exact instant that the relief at his presence fell off her face and the man holding her let go, allowing her to collapse in a pile at his feet.
He barely registered that his team was behind him—they had been waiting to check in at the Hokage tower. The three following him were comparatively rookies, but even they must have sensed those signatures emerge. Gai, on the other hand, who must have been working out in Training ground 10 had nearly beat him there. He had stopped to fight the Mist traitor—with blue skin and a sword like that, he couldn't be from anywhere else.
The Mist traitor was the least of his concerns at the moment, however. That was Uchiha Itachi there, looking at him with a blank expression and a twelve year old slumped at his feet.
"Get away from my student."
He didn't think the Uchiha would harm her further—she was obviously unconscious under some sort of genjutsu and there would be no point to it. But then again, he'd worked with Uchiha Itachi seven years ago and it had never occurred to him that the solemn preteen would kill his entire family, so his predictive powers were in question.
The fight that followed made him wish he had been insane enough to pull a Gai and learn to fight by only watching his opponent's feet. The younger nin was obviously holding back, though Kakashi had no idea why. Sadism or mercy?
If he had been watching his opponent's face, he might have seen the moment when Itachi realized that he had succeeded in getting Danzo's attention. A group of ANBU that were almost certainly Root affiliated were approaching quickly.
'It is time to end this fight and go. I am sorry to do this, Hatake-san.'
His regret was definitely not on his face when the Sharingan whirred and he flickered out of sight, reappearing directly in front of the silver-haired man. It might have been a dangerous move to get within arm's reach if he hadn't ensnared the Copy Nin in the exact instant he forced eye contact.
Karin fluffed her cousin's pillow (it was simpler to judge their relationship that way than with the honest but vague 'distant relation of unknown connection'). She fought the urge to take another pain pill- she had a hell of a headache that just wouldn't go away.
'When I found family, I didn't think they would be this much trouble. She'd only just got out of the hospital a week before she went back in.' The redhead settled into the chair at Aiko's bedside and dug around in her canvas knapsack for the book she was working on.
Truthfully, she wasn't entirely sure why Aiko and her teacher were nonresponsive in the hospital. Whatever had happened was above her clearance- both in the regular military and as a hospital trainee. The notes on Aiko's clipboard were coded- she had peeked. At this point, she was less worried and more resigned. Aiko would undoubtedly wake up soon. In the meantime, she had homework to do if she wanted to show up that whiny little civilian-born brat who thought she was oh-so-superior to the outsider. Lousy brat, with her tiny reserves that made it easy for her to use scalpels and her big dumb face…
"Is there any particular reason for you to scowl at that book?"
Karin nearly fell out of her chair in surprise at hearing her teacher's voice. "Ah, Mito-sensei!" She sat up, nervously smoothing down her shirt. "No, I'm just a little frustrated," she admitted honestly.
The kind brown eyes of the woman who led her small group through lessons and let them shadow her at the hospital seemed to understand what she didn't say. The older woman crossed over to check the clipboard at the foot of the bed, scanning dispassionately. "I don't suppose you can read this, hmm?"
Karin shook her head, feeling a little foolish. "I can't." She admitted honestly. "No one would tell me why she's unconscious or for how long she will be. It's annoying."
"I see." Mito-sensei's eyes flickered to the open door, and then she seemed to shrug. "Your cousin is under a genjutsu. See here," the woman gently pushed up the eyelid. "She seems unconscious, but she's experiencing rapid eye movement, even though a scan here…" Her hand let the eyelid drop and passed mint green light over Aiko's forehead. "shows that the patient is not experiencing the REM cycle in any stage. Her mind is working as if she were awake. The patient's movement is constricted, but it is still possible to tell that she's experiencing significant stress. Tell me how, Karin-chan."
"Um…" Karin stood and leaned over her cousin, red eyes trying to look for clues she'd missed before. "She's sweating. Is that it?" She moved a little closer and lightly touched the tips of her fingers to the pulse point on her cousin's pale, naked throat. "Her heartrate is elevated, too."
"Very good. Possible repercussions of this state being sustained for a prolonged period of time?" The question was bland and impersonal, as if this was just another textbook hypothetical. Karin found that it helped her relax and truly consider the problem.
"Extreme mental strain and maybe even brain trauma," she said promptly. "She is essentially going without sleep for however long the genjutsu persists, meaning that her condition will deteriorate. The patient is likely to be irrational at time of waking."
"Astute as always, Karin-chan. That being said, it is impossible to know when she will wake up. In fact, it is a little worrisome that she hasn't already. If she does not regain consciousness naturally within ten hours, we will be forced to try to awaken her by disrupting the genjutsu manually." Mito made a mark on the clipboard, changed the iv, and then took down vital statistics. She touched Karin's shoulder lightly, pausing on her way out. "You should go home and get some rest, Karin-chan. You still have class in the morning. Someone will come for you when she wakes, as her only relative in the village at the moment."
"Hai," Karin agreed reluctantly, packing up her bag. "I suppose visiting hours are over, huh."
