the thing with egg discourse is a lot of you are convinced it's progressive to say: "i believe cisgender people can be meaningfully coerced into being transgender and this is a problem worth taking seriously."

weird how so many of these “fake slurs against AI supporters” invented by white people desperate to find an excuse to say a slur seem to end in -er. i wonder why that is
#seriously it's getting.... no actually it's always been gross i'm just more aware of it now#so much slur discourse (at least in english) really does seem to be non-black people dancing as close to the n-word line as possible#also i can think of maybe one other slur that ends in -er off the top of my head. most of them don't#also clank IS a verb but it's also a noun. sorry i'm a language nerd sometimes

Are you transgender by any chance?? You posted about being confused about your gender as a teenager so I'm confused..
yeah, i'm trans. came out when i was 19, so... going on nine years ago now, i think. that said i was mostly oblivious to thinking about my gender for most of my teenage years. i knew i was queer bc everyone knew i was queer but i ever stopped to think about gender until one day i did. don't remember if i ever made a post saying "btw i'm trans now" back then but i certainly haven't been trying to hide it since lol
#personal#i identify as nonbinary/genderqueer but i don't really feel the need to get more specific than that#i tend to refer to myself as ''dude'' or ''guy'' but i wouldn't say i consider myself a trans man

lovecraft: the plot of this story is that if you have sex outside your race your children will be hideous monsters and the world will be doomed. also if you have mixed race heritage you are evil and will ultimately join the side of evil (evil being the non-white part of your ancestry)
someone: yeah i think we could make a non-racist version of that
listen not to like jump on this random person in my notes but like... yknow, i think people saying things like this is kind of indicative of exactly what i said, that lovecraft's racism is if anything critically underdiscussed, i mean--'undertones' alone, right, because it's not an Undertone it is the cornerstone of the text, and you cannot 'do innsmouth without the racial aspect' because then you're left with nothing, innsmouth is not just subtextually but textually about the dangers of miscegenation. and again my point is not to Own this person epic style but just to say, yknow, there has not been this total cultural reckoning with lovecraft and his ideology that some people seem to think there has!
#to be fair to lovecraft he actually DID grow as a person (somewhat) later on but that was iirc after he'd done most of his writing#but his writings to my knowledge are overwhelmingly steeped in bigotry and that really hasn't been dealt with much#some of his work could be altered for sure#like a version of call of cthulhu where it's not clear how much of the horror is cthulhu related and how much is the narrator's blindingly#obvious bigotry that he seems to think is a perfectly normal world view would actually be very interesting#bc call of cthulhu is overall a well-written story but lovecraft's assumption that his narrator's line of thought is normal is... a weaknes#sorry man most people don't think ''of course it was The Cult - there was a brown guy there!''#the words ''nautical-looking negro'' just float around in my head sometimes. what the fuck dude#but yeah the bigotry in lovecraft's work (racism classism antisemitism mathphobia...) really could do with some serious discussion#i'm not even sure you SHOULD try to remove any and all bigoted undertones from lovecraft tbh#i think you should use his work to improve your critical thinking and reading comprehension skills if anything#what did he mean by x. what can we learn about him via y. etc etc#learn to engage with an unpack a narrative that is fundamentally incompatible with your own beliefs#learn how to read a story without assuming that the author is correct by virtue of having written it#all (or at least most i think) of his stuff is online for free including some things he never published#iirc i used hplovecraft.com to read call of cthulhu but i don't remember for sure

its crazy how many people on that post will be like 'but dont you know that this phenomenon happens because the people making these jokes see sexual violence as smoething that could happen to them while war crimes as some vague ambiguous nebulous thing that could never impact their lives?' yes amiguita thats literally what the post is about. the whole post is about that fact. Thats the opint of the post

some of the tags on that post from yesterday are bananas honestly for all that people love to scarybrag about seeing so much explicit material on the internet the actual etiquette that is discursively performed around sexual arousal online is like shockingly naïve to the reality that sexuality is simply something that exists everywhere all the time whether you want it to or not
#people are so so so so weird about other people's sex lives#just mind your own business it's easy#''what if you see something in public'' stop looking bitch yeesh

#so you have to throw it fast and weird to evade the bat#and there is a dude behind the plate who failed out of the police academy telling you if the throws are good or not#and he's wrong a lot of the time and you aren't allowed to tell him that#and if the throws are bad or “bad” he gets to punish you
fortunately you have a whole bunch of people who also hate the wrong guy and will yell at him for you! it's good to have friends

LET'S BEAT THE RETREAT LET'S HOP ON A PLANE LET'S GET OUT OF HERE LET'S GO TO MAINE
everyone's always making dramatic posts about mountain goats lyrics like "I am gonna make it through this year if it kills me" and "hand in unlovable hand" why does nobody care about "someone's gonna wrap us up in styrofoam and paper and mail us flat-rate right down to hell"
