Springtime in Konoha!

The Yamanaka clan has a big springtime celebration every year when the flowers bloom: they mark their years by springs, so it’s like their New Year’s celebration. Tons of friends and allies from other clans are invited to enjoy the flowers and a traditional Yamanaka tea brewed from a special blend of flowers to promote a healthy and prosperous year:)

I have been thinking about that, too.

Why not just say that, Tenten is teasingly referred to by the other girls in the Konoha 12 as "tomboy extraordinaire", due to how little real interest she has in girly gossip and talk about boys, as she is way more focused on building new tools, and dedicating her life to studying all about weapons. Which is why, she is not as present, but she doesn't get excluded either.

I feel like, Tenten herself, might truly not be a fan about how the shinobi system is essentially forcing kunoichis into pre-conceived, archaeic molds, all about "flowers, marriage, finding boyfriends", etc. Not only does this talk put her to sleep, but it also annoys the hell out of her, because of how patronizing it sounds, as if these old farts at the council want to put words in her mouth. And so, having some pride to herself, she wants to grow completely independent of any male partner, since she is not exactly a fan of growing dependent on anyone. Because hey, if you got the practical smarts, and the means to build tools and weapons to protect yourself, who needs anyone else?

Naturally, her mindset isn't foolproof, because Neji, the usually aloof, socially stunted potato that he is, becomes a fanboy of her work, because we all know, the way to a man's heart, is being a badass, especially with weapons. And since the Hyuga have a knack for weapon usage, it's a match made in heaven. He makes her drop her guard, making her realize that: ...I don't need any men shielding me... Unless you're Neji, because bless his soul, is he a sweetheart.

He doesn't judge her for feeling the way she does, he respects her boundaries, her goals, her aspirations, everything. And he remains so accepting of her quirks and eccentricities, being a smelly gremlin, who hogs any unique weapon she can nom-nom-nom on, to him, this translates to one thing and one thing only:

Wife.
