Tim Drake, Caffein and ADHD

Ok so, I know Tim is a coffee/energy drink addict (not sure if this is cannon or not but i don't really care). I was thinking about this a few days ago while thinking about my own ADHD relationship to stimulants/caffein.

What if Tim Drake is not addicted to caffein because he is trying to stay awake. He for sure has insomnia but what if its unrelated to the caffein?

What if he has undiagnosed and therefor untreated ADHD? His thoughts run a thousand miles a minute and he uses caffein to slow his thoughts down long enough to make sense of.

His parents were never around to see the signs. By the time he's Robin he's figured out how to self medicate with coffee. Dick (who is also hella ADHD) kicks himself for not noticing it. While Dick's ADHD presents as hyperactivity, Tim's presents in him being unable to regulate his focus. This is not in the "I can't pay attention way" that most people think of but the "I will hyper-focus on this thing to the point that I will forget to eat, sleep, drink, use the restroom etc" way.

Eventually someone figures out that he's got ADHD and he gets on the proper stimulants, (Adderall, Ritalin or Vyvance) and gets him on a good sleep med for insomnia and he slowly starts drinking less coffee because he doesn't need to anymore.

i think we should dissect the “not like other girls” mindset a little bit. from my experiences at least.

i developed this complex through my interactions with other girls my age. the most memorable experience was me not being invited to who i thought was a friends going away party because the “popular girls” didnt want me there. i was told this to my face word for word. i was the only one not invited.

i was actively excluded from birthday parties, sleepovers and such do to mob mentality of my peers deciding what i could and could not do.

if i tried to participate in a trend. clothing trends, music trends, social trends etc… i was ridiculed for it. was told i was copying them. everything i did that was a trend i was made fun of for doing.

i started drawing. i was made fun of for it because there could only be one art girl and that would be copying. didnt matter if other girls drew, i was not allowed to. and i was told this every time i drew. even notebook sketches. they decided me doing that was copying and “ew gross, stop thinking you can copy emma”

i had girls tell me to my face to shut up because they didnt want to hear me talk. i didnt talk right. i was then ridiculed and deemed a bitch for not talking enough.

i was an easy target. i was incredibly neurodivergent (autistic, dyslexic, adhd, ocd and probably something else i missed) and i came from and incredibly neurodivergent family. all undiagnosed and all untreated.

i didnt understand a lot so i got picked on and they used these against me. i got frustrated and would lash out and it only made it worse.

i was actively ridiculed for trying to be like the other girls. then shamed for not being like them.

its not that i didnt want to be like other girls. they didnt want to be like me.

so i read YA books, listened to rock music and cried myself to sleep every night begging to know what was wrong with me and why dont they like me.

that was the original “not like other girls”

being so shamed from girlhood and the expectations. whats shown on mainstream tv, media and the friendships around you. you become an outcast. not like the other girls.

ppl talk about how that "omg you people can't do anything" tweet about ADHD helped them and like, i hope those people also looked into more resources beyond that mean spirited post bc. eventually you'll be overwhelmed with something or even a lot of things and you'll think of that tweet (or any similar way of thinking) and just Agree that you can't do anything Omg and just spiral from there

I'm an anime-only bsd enjoyer & ever since that damn sword popped up after Atsushi & Akutagawa killed him on the boat but he was able to erase/undo(?) that timeline, I've been thinking that technically means there's multiple timelines. This would be the one where Fukuchi won that conflict we just saw or something else entirely is going on given the way he's dressed (if that even is him)! 👀👀👀
