Yes I know I did this before, but I lost motivation for the option that won ok? I’ll try to make sure that that doesn’t happen this time
Further plot explanations:
Crutchie coming out as nonbinary-exactly what is says on the tin, Crutchie and Jack about to go to bed in the penthouse when Crutchie comes out as nonbinary to Jack, then maybe a short scene of the morning after where Crutchie comes out to all the newsies, everyone is supportive
Jack coming out as trans to Medda-again, pretty much what it says, Jack is a trans man and through either binder mishaps or him getting his period he has to tell Medda, she’s supportive
Canon era Sprace marriage-this is a fun one, Spot and Race want to get married but gay marriage is illegal so they hold a “newsie wedding” in Medda’s theatre with Katherine as the officiant and a bunch of wacky queer shit
The consequences of Pulitzer’s polycule- go to my incorrect quotes blog @faefox9s-incorrect-quotes to learn what Pulitzer’s polycule entails, basically a crack fic where Pulitzer is a trans man while all the other polycule members are cis, and whenever he has a kid he just throws it out into the world so it can become a newsie, Katherine was the exception but then she learns that she’s siblings/half siblings with a large number of the newsies and she invites them all to family dinner and it’s chaos

oh boy do I love queer history ❤️
ok fellow Newsies (yes I will refer to you as Newsies I don’t like the term ‘Fansies’) it’s history lesson time~
so I’m sure we’re all vaguely aware of the ‘Santa Fe was a popular queer destination’ but do you know just how queer wanting to be a cowboy was?
I highly suggest watching video essays on this but essentially:
cowboys were really gay. And it was less frowned upon in the Old West because the lines between homosocial relationships and homoerotic relationships blurred. it was also common for trans folk, lesbians, and PoC people to go out west because it was more accepted out there. (Unfortunately racism was still a big issue out there but you could still earn wages and be a cowboy..)
Now eventually after World War 2 the Cowboy was turned into something of a masc whitewashed whatever.. but before then it was quite a queer staple. And I both love and hate it because it’s sad…
anyways; Jack Kelly I know what you are.

jack identifies as queer rather than a more specific label because he doesn't do well with introspection and prefers to roll with the punches. so maybe he wants to make out with a dude at the club whatever. doesn't have to be anything.
davey identifies as queer because he did the whole microlabel thing for a long time only to eventually realize that for him specifically all it accomplished was more nitpicking of himself and trying to building himself a smaller and smaller box to fit in so he could fit in a box. maybe he is demihomoromantic graysexual but also he's just queer and isn't it so freeing to just let himself be whatever he is without trying to pin down his own wings?

I looooove projecting onto Davey Jacobs. Davey Jacobs is left handed and he has raynauds syndrome so his hands r freezing all the time and he has really awful posture. he absolutely hates school but perseveres out of spite and he is a HATER. he loves flowers and botany and sometimes drops the most unsettling facts simply because he finds them interesting. that’s just me if I lived in 1899

i think i mentioned this before but i actually love the idea of esther gradually finding out david is in love with jack. like it's just little hints but when it gets through to her it makes so much sense. for example one day she asked sarah "how's jack?" or "is jack coming over for dinner tonight?" and sarah just kind of scrunched her eyebrows and went "how should i know? ask david" and esther was confused because she was so sure that jack was courting sarah. and then one day she paid attention to how close jack and david were at the dinner table, even if there was no real reason for it, and how they exchanged glances and giggled from time to time, and they've always sat like this, always acted like this, so why didn't she ever pay attention to it? or in the mornings, before david went to school, she always heard some rustling--a window opening, some hushed voices, eventually a quiet laugh--and one day she just got curious, she took a peek inside david's room, and she saw jack leaning in through the open window. and her son went red in the face (for some reason?) but jack just smiled and said good morning like the polite boy he was, and esther realized that jack went out of his way to wake up early just to see david before he went to school. and one day when she went to the rooftop to hang the laundry she noticed something scribbled on the brick half-wall with charcoal messily--the initials 'j' and 'd' with a plus between them--and she didn't have to think long before she realized it stood for jack and david. and that's really when she started taking the possibility of david and jack being queer into consideration. she wasn't even shocked, she just didn't know how she didn't realize earlier. and i think from that point on she just made sure to make jack feel even more welcome

i find it really interesting that the typical trope for canon era javid is flaming bisexual jack kelly and davey who is just now realizing that he’s queer, and how their relationship builds with that understanding. it’s also fun to see that in many cases, modern era jack is the one finding his footing with bisexuality while davey is already out— obviously there are many exceptions, but i really like that we as a fandom have kept up such a variety!!
im curious to see everyone’s thoughts so rb this with your ‘when jack and davey come out’ headcanons!!

Davey seems like the kind of person who at one point was very concerned with "knowing himself" and wanted to be able to put a label on things and wore himself out trying to pin himself into a box because he wanted to understand his identity and how it all fit together so he could sum himself up in a few words but after a long time of trying and failing to fit into self-imposed boxes he finally gave up and was like fuck you I'm queer and that's good enough for me.
Jack on the other hand did not think twice about what his sexuality was until he was in a relationship with a guy and now it's a 50/50 shot if he remembers the word bisexual or ambidextrous first (he's both so he's never technically wrong just answering the wrong question)
