Okay, I need advice or information or something because I'm very confused right now.
So the name "Neurodivergent Brain Goblins" comes from these bits of myself that I've named and given an identity to in order to help other people understand my brain.
I've had neuropsych testing done (4.5 hrs of testing, surveys, and forms). They agreed that I have C-PTSD and dissociative symptoms with a somatoform disorder, but they don't agree that I have DID because I don't lose time and don't have other personalities that take over/replace mine.
My brain goblins are their own people but also are just me. Mini little parts of me that sometimes control more of my life than I often do.
Reynold is my logic. He is my assistant manager who definitely wasn't given enough training and is more of a glorified babysitter than anything else 😅 I honor the amount of shit he puts up with every day. He is second in command and acts as a buffer to all the other brain goblins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there is Jeff 🫠 I call him my ADHD goblin. Jeff loves buttons. He loves pushing them and watching them light up and hearing them make noise. Jeff also loves running around, jumping, making ridiculous noises, and seeing how many times he can do the same exact thing in a row before it pisses everyone else off 🤣 sometimes Reynold will give Jeff a tennis ball to go bounce against the wall for a while just so he can get some real work done.
(I'm not done drawing Jeff, but this is him so far 😊 he is a very mischievous little shit lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have Frank my OCD Goblin. He carries around an abacus instead of a calculator because 1. He is obsessed with numbers and 2. Physically moving the pieces to count calms his anxiety 😅. Frank loves simple repetitive tasks that he can do on repeat so he can count them over and over again. He often teams up with Jeff because of this and then they bug Reynold all day. Kind of a "hey! Hey! Hey check this out! Look what we can do! Hey!"
Bobby is my Autism Goblin 🤣 I love him so much but like sometimes I just.. he tries so hard and his effort is absolutely beautiful, but he just isn't good at any of it 🙃 he is the director of communication, so anytime I socialize Bobby shows up to help navigate talking. But like he just REALLY isn't good at it 🤣 the heart and soul he puts into it though is why he is still the communications director 🥰
I also have Manic Manny, Depression Dave, Sensory Sally. Though they like to work from behind the scenes. Their control is really strong but everything they do is by sneaking up and whispering in Reynolds ear and *poof* disappearing. He can't ever see them, but the weird creepy crawly feeling they give him makes him act on what they said every single time.
There are lots of other Goblins that work in this factory, but they are more like background characters? Like, everyone has a job, but most are just quiet office workers that help to keep the lights on 😅
If you have read this far thank you so much!! My question now is, what are my brain goblins? Is this DID or is it something else?? Tbh I don't really care what it is because these are my Brain Goblins and I love them no matter how much they annoy me 😅 but I also like learning information because sometimes it can really help me with managing life lol

The only experience we can all have in common is the human experience, which will be different for every person. 🥰
Man I hate posts about the Neurodivergent Experience that try to universalize it in opposition to the Neurotypical Experience. I just saw a post about how "neurodivergent people don't perceive early signs of hunger and neurotypical people do which is why neurodivergent people forget to eat" and a bunch of people in the comments like "whoamygod makes so much sense" but like, I am able to detect hunger at its early stages. I do forget to eat when I'm manic but that's because I'm distracted and don't notice it, not because I'm not able to perceive it if I think about it. Anyway the Neurodivergent Experience is not universal and one size fits all so stop saying stuff like "the Neurodivergent Experience is __" it can be annoying especially to people like me who have been told they're faking it their whole lives. Even something like "a lot of neurodivergent people have this" can go a long way to being inclusive.

so I've heard discourse about nonhuman rep for nonbinary people, aro/ace spec, neurodivergence (especially autism), etc. amalgamating a few different opinions I've heard, I propose that not all characters of those types should be inhuman, all inhuman characters must be at least one of them. your alien/robot/cryptid/other nonhuman understands gender and romance and sexual attraction and human social norms? unrealistic do better

This is Reynold! He is the brain goblin I drew years ago when I was first trying to find a way to explain my brain to people.
He is in charge of "logic". He is an assistant manager who never received any training and really is just a glorified baby sitter to all the other brain goblins 🤣 he wears a funnel on his head to "funnel in the information" and carries a collandar to "filter the information"
Since creating Reynold, I now also have:
Jeff the ADHD Goblin
Bobby the Autism Goblin
Frank the OCD Goblin
Manny the Manic Goblin
Sensitive Sally the Sensory Processing Disorder Goblin
Dave the Depression Goblin
Penny the PMDD Goblin
Each of them earned their name and title as they made themselves known. Reynold finds Jeff, Frank, and Bobby to be the most obnoxious 🤣 he usually just gives Jeff a tennis ball, frank a calculator, and Bobby a speaking engagement (he isn't good at it but his passion is amazing 🤣🤣🤣)

Hello! I have ADHD and autism and lots of ideas. Once I sit down to write a story, I get overwhelmed by the need to plan and write and edit and write and edit and write and... You get the idea. Is there any suggestion you could think of to make the process easier?
Streamlining the Writing Process When You're ND
I think this is something a lot of neurodivergent writers struggle with, and to a degree so do a lot of neurotypical writers, because it can take a long time to work out a writing process that works for you.
Planning - It may be worthwhile to sit down and think about how much planning/what planning tools you feel you need before you sit down and start writing. Like, if you feel you could probably write the story with just a beginning to end summary, make writing that summary your one planning item, and move on to writing. Or, maybe you want to do an outline/summary, character profiles, and a map. Make yourself a list somewhere for each of those things--maybe even breaking it down into the necessary sub steps, and deem yourself done when you've finished them. You may still have an urge to do more, but reassure yourself that you don't need to. And, remind yourself that you can plan as you go to fill in the gaps.
Writing - It might help to think of your first draft as a "zero draft." Or, in other words, a very rough draft that is just really there to help you get ideas down in a semi-cohesive manner. Write it beginning to end, and then check this off your list.
Editing and Revision - This is where you can get caught in a bit of a whirlpool, but this is where it's useful to think of your drafts as revisions. Read through the zero draft and make notes of things that need to be changed, added to, rearranged, or polished. Make it a list, then go through the list and complete the tasks. Once the list is done, that revision is done. Now, do it a second time, but this time only mark down things that are a genuine problem. Try not to listen to your nagging doubts or your brain being wishy-washy--look for things that are actual fixable problems. Make another list and complete the tasks. When that list is done, that revision is done. Then, if you feel it's necessary, you can do another read through specifically looking for typos, spelling errors, etc. Make another list and go through it. When it's done, it's done. And you can check off this story as finished.
You might even streamline my suggestions in a way that works for you. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, there's an app called Goblin Tools which is amaaaaazing for when you get overwhelmed by projects that have a lot of tasks. You basically put in a task like "write novel" and you can set how detailed you want the task list to be, then it generates a list of tasks you can complete to get the project finished. It can be really, really helpful in getting things done. :)
I hope that helps!

i don’t think people understand how important gift-giving can be, especially to neurodivergent people. i’m not just talking about gifts for birthdays and holidays, i’m talking about the random “hey I found this cool rock/leaf/plushie and it reminded me of you :)” kind of gift-giving

Not my own headcanons but asking for one of yours!
What flavour (if any) of neurodivergent are all the Bad Kids?
Neurodivergent has to be looked at a whoooole different way when you're looking at a bunch of kids who are different species. Some stuff still lines up but the baseline of whats considered 'normal' is different for all of them.
Kristen is absoloutly ADHD, she's got that hyperfocus then absoloutly no-focus pendulum going all day every day.
Adaine has anxiety, that's cannon. She was mostly okay before the whole oracle thing kicked in but now she literally has her brain telling her things are going to go wrong all the time.
Gorgug is nothing really if you look at him from a human perspective, he's just a quiet kindof shy guy. He even has a decent grip on his rages and is fairly emotionally intelligent. Looking at him from a half-orc point of view might make him seem like he has something going on though.
Fabians got something going on, he's definitly got that post-laviathan PTSD but his is more of a problem with how he was raised. Simultaniously doted on and also neglected, he's starting to sort himself out though. He's nowhere near as bad as he was freshman year, but simultaniously somehow worse in other ways.
Fig is a little bipolar, she has her manic swings and then massive depressive episodes. She's working on it though, Jawbone is helping her work through it.
Riz is all sorts of autistic (even from a goblin perspective), you can fight me on this one. He has his special interests, is constantly trying to 'mask' to seem normal and has a hard time making friends. The whole goblin thing just adds an extra layer onto the masking and makes it a lot tougher (he over-compensates with the whole suit getup to try to seem normal and goes waaaay too far).
