In the bustling metropolis of Delhi NCR, where life moves at a frenetic pace, it's easy to overlook the importance of regular health check-ups. Among the myriad of health concerns, liver health often takes a backseat until symptoms become apparent. However, proactive measures can save lives. One crucial tool in assessing liver health is the Liver Function Test (LFT), and in Delhi NCR, Wellness Pathcare emerges as a reliable partner in this endeavor.
Understanding Liver Function Tests:
Liver Function Tests (LFTs) are a series of blood tests that help assess the health and function of the liver. These tests measure various enzymes, proteins, and substances in the blood that indicate how well the liver is functioning. LFTs are instrumental in diagnosing liver diseases such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and fatty liver disease, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of treatments.
Importance of Regular Screening:
The liver is a vital organ responsible for numerous essential functions, including metabolizing nutrients, detoxifying harmful substances, and producing proteins necessary for blood clotting. Unfortunately, liver diseases often progress silently, with symptoms manifesting only in the advanced stages. Regular screening through LFTs can detect liver abnormalities early, allowing for timely intervention and better outcomes.

Kris Hansen had worked as a chemist at the 3M Corporation for about a year when her boss, an affable senior scientist named Jim Johnson, gave her a strange assignment. 3M had invented Scotch Tape and Post-it notes; it sold everything from sandpaper to kitchen sponges. But on this day, in 1997, Johnson wanted Hansen to test human blood for chemical contamination. Several of 3M’s most successful products contained man-made compounds called fluorochemicals. In a spray called Scotchgard, fluorochemicals protected leather and fabric from stains. In a coating known as Scotchban, they prevented food packaging from getting soggy. In a soapy foam used by firefighters, they helped extinguish jet-fuel fires. Johnson explained to Hansen that one of the company’s fluorochemicals, PFOS—short for perfluorooctanesulfonic acid—often found its way into the bodies of 3M factory workers. Although he said that they were unharmed, he had recently hired an outside lab to measure the levels in their blood. The lab had just reported something odd, however. For the sake of comparison, it had tested blood samples from the American Red Cross, which came from the general population and should have been free of fluorochemicals. Instead, it kept finding a contaminant in the blood. Johnson asked Hansen to figure out whether the lab had made a mistake. Detecting trace levels of chemicals was her specialty: she had recently written a doctoral dissertation about tiny particles in the atmosphere. Hansen’s team of lab technicians and junior scientists fetched a blood sample from a lab-supply company and prepped it for analysis. Then Hansen switched on an oven-size box known as a mass spectrometer, which weighs molecules so that scientists can identify them. As the lab equipment hummed around her, Hansen loaded a sample into the machine. A graph appeared on the mass spectrometer’s display; it suggested that there was a compound in the blood that could be PFOS. That’s weird, Hansen thought. Why would a chemical produced by 3M show up in people who had never worked for the company?

Turns out they knew as far back as the late 1950s.

the good news is that we can rule out cancer for ava
#the bad news is that despite the blood tests indicating a problem with the liver the scans showed nothing#so we're just going to treat it as epilepsy for now and hope like hell that makes a difference

Purina apparently discontinued and then reformulated the only canned food I've found so far that Griffin's extraordinarily sensitive tummy can tolerate, adding one of his potential worst allergens to nearly the top of the formulation list. I have sent a Karen-like e-mail to Purina, and am now having to have five million tabs open on different pet food websites to put the ingredient lists of everything under a microscope to try and find something remotely close.
#(look he's my special boy he has very special needs)#like he has one brand of dry dog food he can eat#so he won't starve#but he gets the canned wet food on top because of other gi issues#related to last year's emergency surgery#but on an unrelated rant: why the FUCK would you put LIVER in your sensitive stomach formula#it literally registers as a 5000 on griffin's allergy test#i believe 80 was the cutoff limit before it starts causing problems#so like he had some cranberry supplements he was getting after a uti#that had beef liver in it#and it would immediately start him on an episode that would take several days to calm his stomach down#so if i had not looked at that ingredient label and started feeding him this#i would have had at the very least a giant mess to clean up

Looks like my loser liver is staying intact. I have two small lesions on my liver--which is not as scary as it sounds! They're called hemangiomas and are basically clumps of blood vessels. As it is, considering that I have no symptoms and am otherwise in good health, they're nothing for me to be worried about.
But, at the same time, it's not a good idea to go cutting around them. And it also doesn't make my liver the best choice for the recipient.
Next step is to start the process of kidney donation. Which I'm cautiously optimistic about, because the scans didn't find anything wrong with those guys. I guess, in one way, it's selfishly good news, because kidney donation is significantly safer, but it's still a huge bummer. Ah, well. I'll just have to thinking about kidney puns instead of liver puns.
#the organ trail#what's a girl gotta do to get someone to carve out her organs?#silver lining#i got a bunch of testing that i never would have gotten otherwise at my age#and it's not bad to have confirmation that that my heart and lungs are completely normal#and my liver is functioning fine#(i'll have to get them checked in a year#because there's a *small* chance that they could grow and *if* they grow#there's a *small* chance they could cause problems#and even then the treatment is simple)#getting even more tmi#i found out i have to get a mammogram because the mri found something#which again is almost certainly nothing to be worried about#and that on one hand sucks#but it's way better than it being there and me not knowing it

this september has been absolutely cursed so far. back to back misfortunes and setbacks.
the funniest one (or well, the one i can't help but laugh about) is how my new doc at the health center was gravely worried over my hemoglobin count. surely it is a sign my hrt dose is too high and all my organs are going to melt!
i have just recently graduated from the trans hrt specialty clinic after a long time of monitoring my hemoglobin and figuring out a dose that actually keeps me just above the lower threshold of the clinical range i'm aiming for. they figured my blood is just Like That as a genetic thing. the only time in my life i've had a hemoglobin count within the reference ranges is the few years when i ate mostly vegan and donated blood regularly. i was told by a school nurse at fifteen that i should donate blood when i turn 18 because my blood is so thick.
like it's p likely i was a bit dehydrated during that latest blood draw too. the doc needs to chill. there were much more worrying things in the results than the hemoglobin. stuff that's the actual reason i went to get the tests done.
but my blood being thick and rich like a luxurious vampire delicacy never fails to make me laugh
#overshare best share clearly#it's not super worrying#it's actually stuff that's been Going On for a long time (and actually been getting better lately)#mostly a combo of how i can't manage to eat right exercise enough and destress and that's taking a toll on my body#and then how my meds and the amount of pain meds i take for the migraines are hard on my liver#this all stops being funny real fast when you stop to think#about how a doctor is ignoring pain medication overuse and weight as problems (docs favorites)#in favor of seeing hrt as the culprit#(weight itself ofc isn't the problem here (or ever))#(my weight gain just happens to be the result of the same process that has fucked up other shit)#so you bet i'm going to donate blood and superhydrate myself before the next test i got scheduled for in month and a half

Nevermind the fact that I don't even know what to buy cause of course I have to be in a period again of struggling to eat anything without feeling like I'm going to throw up, because of course I can't be normal in that department either and just HAD to have a fucking eating disorder too. And haha funny how of course I have to sit here now that I finally was allowed to be awake because oh what's this? Bitch ass sleep disorder too??? Why can't I have at least one thing that's fine and normal??? Why do I have to be buried with my own body as the coffin??? Why can't it at least stay relatively stable rather than getting rapidly worse as I age???? My fucking great grandpa was healthier than me until his death at 102 and my mormor and morfar run around all fine and dandy in their 80s like their parents did well into their 90s and 100s. My punishment for being a carbon copy of my farmor whose side is where all these physical issues come from LMAOOOOO
#at the very least i inherited SOME of my moms sides good health things#such as and i quote nurse who tested me: perfect lungs kidneys liver and cholestrole better than any living human he'd ever seen#so i guess i got that going for me lmaoooo#silvi talks
