While it's important to recognise that depictions of mental health and mental illness in video games are often dogshit, and a "sanity meter" flattens understanding of the impossibly complex issues of mental health into a single metric
We also have to acknowledge that sometimes you do just encounter shit that causes your sanity meter to decrease

The point of fiction is actually to put that guy in a situation™️, and he might try to tell you the point is to then get him out of the situation, WRONG, second situation

episode 6 screenshot review time!
the fact that we got a time travel episode and a mention of a time paradox is trying to activate my conspiracy board brain!! which is nothing, and i will not succumb to speculating on nothing. there's just been a weird vibe popping up this season, outside what i'm assuming is either the budget or directing (or both) not being quite where they need to be. for example, i had a good time with the ep, but the time tangle could have done with more variety and nonsense. but the other weirdness is nothing until proven otherwise!!
but! i'm choosing to focus on the fun parts, and misc observations. like, for example.
i snatched up these two frames for absolutely NO reason at all!!
no but for real
never not funny that osomatsu has ruined his reputation so bad he cannot avoid taking the blame.
such a fun cyber moment! totty set himself up a chance to boke. also, i tried so fucking long to get the frame where choro whacks him and there's a cute lil impact effect, but that level of precision turned out to be impossible with my setup.
it's t-posing for dominance!! CANNOT believe that just earlier this summer i was absolutely baffled by a similar looking fan! what coincidence
another one for the folder of nice lineups where their postures and the fits of their clothes are nice and varied! though at this point i'm worrying if this sort of stuff is the candles in their budget lmao.
the contrast of two lowly worms approaching a goddess and osomatsu being osomatsu dfsgsdfgds kick his ass out with nothing chibita!
had iyami worn this outfit before??? absolutely cursed look.
on second watch, i realized how early on totty started to look like he was actively not saying something. hey what about that thing about how truth should be out, huh? well, i guess technically speaking shutting up isn't lying.
a HIGHLIGHT for me how doubting himself and not going landed ichimatsu to time travel with osomatsu! ichimatsu was in general a driving force in this ep, taking choromatsu's usual role in being the sensible one making plans.
osomatsu made him work so hard!! and lmao, in my head it's confirmed that osomatsu escalated the crew cut incident on purpose.
and then my favorite part, and what i wish the ep had done more of!
they went back to season 1!! i didn't even realize how exactly they recreated the s1 look on the first watch! the choppy lines and everything! ahh, i wish they had done one for each season, but i guess s2 and s3 don't have that different of an art style to them. though they could have accidentally popped in their childhood or whenever, if the skit had gone a bit harder.
i like the comparison between their first and current character models! i love what s1 did, but i've really grown to like the s4 look. only wish that they'll get to wear at least some color, if not proper lil outfits at least at some point this season.
and! just them looking happy and cute!
because next i'm going to allow myself to read too much into things.
i thought it was weird how ichimatsu did most of the talking. and then choromatsu comes in at the end, vaguely calling things weird. it's... hmm. it IS interesting that he doesn't say "this is wrong." because that's an obvious thing, right? he's serious and proper (relatively), so he would care that they essentially stole the fan. but instead he calls it weird.
this works as another sentimental moment, and as a bit of meta along with the stuff about you know. worrying that there aren't as many people watching during the festival and all. but it also feels a bit strange. makes me think about who is the them being thrown away? like. honestly part of me thinks they're talking about the rest of the cast, because the season has been REALLY focused on the sextuplets so far. hmm.
it feels strange how wholesome they keep on being, too. hmmmmm.
honestly i blame the sheeh wave ep for these thoughts. like i don't want to be speculating about some secret overarching twist to be incoming, because that's just stressful and not helpful to enjoy what the season is actually delivering. but also ono did say that this season should have rewatch value, with how things link back. honestly hate that he said that, because now i won't get it out of my head until the season is over!!
#reitzreact#ososan spoilers#honestly watching the season has been weird for me#outside of the silly shit i described#you know when you got a load-bearing hyperfixation and then it gets new material#but because the whole situation is so fraught it's hard to take it as it is#anyway!!#really curious for today's ep! seems to be a fairytale medley?

Game where the ancient hero is awakened from the deathless sleep of centuries in the hour of their people's greatest need, only to find that civilisation is thriving and there are no obvious threats on the horizon; the game then becomes a fish-out-of-water detective sim as they try to figure out what woke them up, and also solve other, smaller mysteries along the way.
