Feel like Neil couldn’t have been any other kind of actor than one in theatre. If he was a movie actor or on social media or whatnot, it would not be the same. Theatre by nature is fleeting. Recorded mediums can be rewatched over and over, creating a time loop of sorts. We the audience can keep going back to a time when Neil is still alive. Theatre however is live and once the play is over, there is no going back except in our memories. It is much like life. We are forced to live in the moment in a theater lest we miss it altogether. It’s not that the poets choose to live in a world where Neil is dead, it’s that they must because the only other option is to die themselves. I feel like Keatings teachings could only be reflected in stage theatre because that’s the only way there can be no time loop of grief. I think dead poets society itself isn’t about overcoming the authority in your life to do what you want but rather about grief, about allowing oneself to feel grief and all one’s emotions without letting it consume you and to keep living after, to live every day in the moment lest you fall into grief and regret that will destroy you or force you into a miserable life

#just silly ramblings don’t mind me just ignore me 🫣#keating was teaching the boys catharsis as a means of survival and how to process their emotions so they don’t overcome them in a world #that convinces them to pretend they don’t feel at all; that’s why he focuses on the romantics rather than the realists because the romantic #is there to help you process your emotions of sorrow and joy; and that’s why he told Charlie he was misunderstanding the teachings when he #was acting out but not Neil when Neil was trying to get out of the grief over the person he wishes he could be; keating taught him that his #father was standing over an empty grave grieving the son he wanted and that Neil doesn’t have to lie in that grave just to satisfy his #fathers grief but can go to his father as he is and ask him to accept this version of himself and the son he is and his father rejected and #that is why Neil thought the only way to truly overcome his father was by allowing his father to grieve him over grieving the son he wanted #and Mr. Keating was crying over Neil but we don’t see him rage out like the school; Mr. Keating grieved Neil and moved forward with life #whereas all the other administration and Neil’s father will not be able to because they refuse to recognize any emotion but rage so they #feel they must go on a wrathful journey to try to process their grief; idk I think the whole story was about teaching the boys not to be #afraid of their emotions and that they must feel their emotions to process them and get through and I think this message just happens to be #counter to the norm we were told our whole lives but also necessary to be full people and I think that is why this movie sticks with so #many and why so many hold it so dear to them; it’s a story about grief and emotions and moving forward with life after the fact #it’s about feeling in a world that tries to convince you that there are ‘bad’ emotions and that you must not feel certain things and that’s #where overcoming authority comes in and the anti authority message of the franchise stems from #neil perry #dead poets society #dps #dead poets fandom #dps fandom #mr keating #john keating #dps symposium

stacy is sooo interesting because she's in love with house but knows that they will never ever be able to have a healthy, stable, sane relationship because they're too similar so. she finds house-lite instead and marries him and. essentially moves on with her life! and is successful in this because she's a moderately well-adjusted person!

wilson, in contrast, never manages to escape the inevitable, in spite of his best efforts to find a house-lite of his very own, because he's an absolute fucking freak and ends up glued to house to the bitter. bitter end

UNFILTERED posting wooahh #some may b shocked but i do actually read thru most of my posts several times to make sure i didnt accidentally write mein kampfe 2 #recently ive come to the realization that i am in fact not an incredibly chill person #and that the constant paranoia and fear in which i live my life is actually PROBABLY a symptom of severe anxiety #like damn. ive always known that im pretty prone to depression but ive preetty much always been aware of that #my mom is a chronic depressive so i know the symptoms i know the signs i have a pretty good arsenal of healthy coping mechanisms #UNFORTUNATELY mommy's mental health problems did not help her not abuse me as a child #so i ended up being a terribly anxious kid who was constantly being screamed at and told i was overreacting (because i was. because i had #a severe anxiety problem that was making me react irrationally.) to everything all the time #which is you know. it is VERY difficult to deal with a mental health problem when you arent aware you have a problem!#its incredible how much. better. my life has gotten since i figured this out and started actively trying to work out what triggers it #and being able to like. realize 'oookay. there is an Issue here and it needs to be overcome'#instead of just beating on myself constantly for not being able to do things without feeling sick or getting breathing problems!#anyways. trauma dumping in tags is over now!#house md #hilson #greg house #james wilson #stacy warner

thinking yet again about Saiki‘s’s final choice in the series being “I’d rather live with my powers than die without them” bc that is seriously the single best ending of a disability narrative I’ve seen. Fuck.

#The thing people don’t tell u about being physically disabled #Is that you’ll see the physically abled people in your life start to view you as something tragic #And while they rarely say it when it comes down to things #They think you’re better dead than disabled. That you’d be happier put out of your misery.#Even with stories involving disabled characters (If we’re anything beyond a background diversity shot which is… rare)#It’s about “curing” or “overcoming” your disability which is I guess a nice sentiment but most of us won’t ever do that #Saiki doesn’t do either of those things #He wants to be cured and briefly thinks he is but then it’s discovered that he Cant be cured bc his powers are part of the whole of him #He doesn’t ever overcome them either #He just puts his glasses back on and decides that if it means he can live another day then he’ll continue to deal with them #And his powers are progressive #And that’s a thing weighing on him but it’s never treated like a death sentence #It’s just something he has to and will deal with #And it sucks but what else is he gonna do #It’s just. From Vision to Purpose: Overcoming Overthinking to Build with Intention

Have you noticed how debilitating overthinking can be in our lives at times? It creeps in quietly, paralyzing our ability to move forward, to make decisions, or to even dream freely. We spend so much time measuring our lives in calendar years—12 neat little months, January to December. But what if we shifted our perspective? What if, instead of seeing time as months on a grid, we saw it as seasons? Quarters we could design intentionally, with purpose and focus.

Overthinking often creeps in when we lack focus. When our minds scatter in every direction, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, unsure, or stuck. The remedy? You HAVE to find a focus. Most especially if you are a multi hyphenate. Anchor yourself in something clear and intentional.

For me, this year, that focus is my YouTube channel. I’m not just focusing on creating content—I’m building something. A space where faith, storytelling, and purpose intersect. My vision? To scale my channel, to create content that resonates deeply, and to reach the milestone of monetization. But it’s not just about numbers or metrics; it’s about impact.

This year I decided to be intentional so I started by writing down what I wanted: What do I want my channel to look like by the end of this year? What kind of community do I want to build? What stories do I want to tell?

And then, I brought it before God. I asked Him to revise it, refine it, and align it with His will. Because a vision in alignment with God isn’t just a dream—it’s a purpose.

Seasons change, focus evolves, and visions grow. But with clarity, intention, and alignment, every season can become something meaningful.

anyway, I really, really love how, if you romance Davrin, there's that beautiful moment in the final goodbye when he refers back to (at least one of-) the lines that can be said in the main romance scene:

[Davrin: You said you wanted the road less-traveled. Seems like we've got it right here.

Davrin: All I care about is that I'm there with you.]

after a personal storyline that's in large part about him overcoming an aversion of uncertainty, and embracing the potential for change and choosing who one wants to be (like most of the others, but it's arguably even more pronounced in his, as it's reflected through the griffons' story), that's just a really beautiful sentiment.

after spending so long thinking of himself as a weapon, believing one's destiny to be set in stone, even believing himself -and by extension, the griffons- to be "meant" for one immutable thing by their very nature...

it feels very satisfying and touching to know that he's willing to head into an unknown future with nothing truly secure, except for the hand holding his.
