on hwang in-ho/front man, seong gi-hun and their dynamic.

first, idk why people are getting so upset at other people calling gi-hun dumb, we were told that in the first season. lol being bright is not his strongest trait but he has a good heart and we love that about him. however, he is still an idealistic gullible idiot with a gambling problem. except this time his gambling addiction is backed by a sense of justice and righteousness and he no longer gambles with money, he’s gambling with people’s lives. front man asked a good question at the end of the season, “did you have fun playing the hero?” can we even call gi-hun the hero of the story anymore? he gambled with people’s lives and front man showed him the consequences of his moral heroics.

front man only agreed to help gi-hun with his revolution when he mentioned about "small sacrifices for the greater good". i think he reveled in the fact that the “good guy” was willing to allow a few innocent people to die for the greater good to stop the games, which is exactly what the entire VIP theory is to rid the world of 'trash' to improve the world. notice how gi-hun's moral code and belief also changed, from being "nobody should die" into "yeah small sacrifice is okay as long it's for the greater good" at this point, he just proved that front man's belief is actually valid. AND he gets more of his own people killed in the pointless battle with the soldiers that they had no chance of winning. now he gets to feel responsible for all those deaths and the death of his friend and for whatever additional torture they cook up in the next games (as punishment for the escape attempt).

now on hwang in-ho, i believe he was once a good man and the story he told gi-hun was the truth. but in the end he lost a kidney, lost a wife, a baby, lost his money, got fucked over by the wrong people and got into serious debt and had to play this game to help his wife and probably it was too late to save her. he might have played the games like gi-hun but saw how ruthless and greedy people are and resolved that they don't deserve help

i don’t think in-ho wants/will kill gi-hun, but he wants him to understand things from his perspective and show him that his compassion for the people in the games is foolish. you can tell the frontmen (the old man and in-ho) are extremely fond of gi hun. not only did he protect their original front man when nobody else did, he then won the games and thus their respect as he is now as rich as them. he's no longer "trash", he’s an elite like them. i think they both actually kept tabs on him after he won (i wonder if they do that for all winners? inserting them with gps chips?) because they knew he had not used his reward money and in-ho wanted gi-hun to get on the plane and be happy with his daughter

there’s one interesting aspect of the games that makes front man such a complex character. the fact that they’re operating a organ transplant trafficking network. in a way, he’s creating some good to come from a really fucked up situation. but is it really for the good of others who desperately need it, people like his wife, like his brother? or is it just a money making scheme?

either way, i don’t think there is going to be a redemption arc for in-ho, he’s too far gone. we may get to see more of his human side if he manages to see jun-ho again. the only time we’ve seen genuine emotions from him was when he shot his brother like he seemed distraught

the real cliffhanger for me, is will gi-hun stay true to his belief that people can be good, or will he be forever changed into a villain and become the next front man…? after the events of this season i don’t see how his will doesn’t shatter. he’s witnessed how humanity consistently chose money over survival, he’s lost two close friends, his mother, abandoned his daughter. he has gained nothing from wanting to stop the games and this clearly feels like an origin story for the next front man. it’s clear the front man has won this round and i think squid game will either die with 001 or continue with gi-hun as game master

another thing i find funny that i don’t see many mention is how gi-hun is like the luckiest guy in the fucking world. but i don’t think him being alive this long is plot armor, it makes sense. the games exist for the entertainment of rich sadists who have so much money they don't know what to do with it (remember what old 001 said in s1 about life being no fun for both people with no money and people with too much money). and i’d imagine killing hundreds of poor debt-ridden fools year after year gets boring. especially when said fools are desperate enough to gamble with their lives because they think they can beat the system by playing better than everyone else and surviving and getting the money.

gihun is different because he got the money, got out, and still came back. not because he's unfeeling or because he wants more money, but because he's still convinced he can beat the system.

if you're a rich bored gazillionaire, would you rather watch some randos die or would you rather watch this exceptional idiot fail again and again until he learns that his ideals are meaningless and people are inherently greedy and equality is a myth and people at the bottom of the barrel don't get to question the system?

if you're an asshole gazillionaire, you don't want someone to challenge you and just get away with it. you want to hand them 45.6 billion won and make them go away quietly, traumatized, after breaking them psychologically by making them do horrible things until they understand they're just powerless "horses". if they insist on challenging you and your system and your beliefs (money = boundless power), you teach them a lesson and show them their place in the most manipulative and cruel way possible. if gihun dies right away, that's boring. so he can't die, he needs to suffer. he needs to concede defeat.

also, i find it funny how people are comparing hwang inho and gihun dynamic to hannibal and will graham. makes sense, their whole cat and mouse game, front man hiding his true nature from gi-hun the same way hannibal does, trying to corrupt the righteous protagonist, sowing chaos, testing him and observing his behavior like a lab rat, the crazy tension and staring contests, the gaslighting and manipulation. and with the fact that they think lee byung-hun looks like mads mikkelsen. i never put the two of them together but now i can’t unsee it lol

*He already had a suspicion you liked tickling. After you told him, he told you how he noticed how happy you get whenever you’re being tickled or tickling one of your friends.

*He’d listen attentively, interrupting here and there to tell a story about how he would tickle his son or wife sometimes.

*He would also tell you it’s not weird to like it. Lots of people do and you just happen to be someone who tends to like it more than others. 

*Ted would ask about boundaries, all the words associated with it like lee and ler, and even ask about lee and ler moods.

*After learning everything, you two hugged and he’d give you a quick side squeeze.

*From then on, he’s a go to person when talking about this subject. It doesn’t bother him at all and he’s also the type of guy who playful pokes his friends and teammates. So he tends to do that to you way more after the conversation.

*I can see him saying, “Are you in one of those moody things? Yeah? If you want you can come to my office later and we can chat or I can tickle all the blues away.”

*Definitely tells jokes and puns while tickling you. Teasing is something he’s very good at.

*If you like tickling others, he’ll let you poke and tase him. He doesn’t like rough tickling all that much, but will let you playfully start a little war with him.

*It’s a running joke now that whoever gets the last poke before you both go home wins.

Keeley~

*Thought it was the most adorable thing ever. Also had a suspicion about it because she’s a very affectionate person and tickled you a lot before you told her you liked it.

*Said she understands where you’re coming from and talks about how her and Roy have tickle fights all the time.

“Yes. The Roy Kent is ticklish. It’s really adorable.” 

*She will talk to you about his worst spots. If she notices you blushing about certain spots she’ll ask why to make you squirm in your seat.

*She loooooooves teasing you. It’s practically her job as one of your best friends. She gets Sassy to join in as well when you’re comfortable enough to tell her.

*One of her favorite things is to wiggle her fingers at you to make you blush. Air tickles are her favorite way to make you giggle before she actually starts tickling you.

“But I’m not even touching you what’s so funny?”

*Whenever your two hang out, there’s always at least a poke to the neck to watch you scrunch up. If not a full on tickle fight.

*She actually really likes being tickled, especially by Roy, but also by you.

*She doesn’t blush easy. The few times you’ve gotten her to blush either from teases or tickles, you bring it up to make her flustered and/or smirk as she’s thinking up a revenge plan.

*Always super sweet and will straight up ask if you want to be tickled or if she wants tickles.

*If you get embarrassed by the word tickle, get ready for it to be whispered in your ear every chance she gets.

Roy Kent~

*Was completely confused at first as why someone would enjoy it.

*Then once you explained it more he came clean about “not totally minding it” when Keeley tickles him and vice versa.

*If he was the first person you talked to about this, he’d make sure to keep it a secret unless you talked to someone else about it.

*You ended up telling both him and Keeley about it. Now whenever the three of you hang out, the two of them are nonstop teasing and tickling you.

*Swears a lot when he’s teasing you. But is always sweet about it because he knows how embarrassed you can get about it.

“Did you just fucking snort?”

“What the fuck was that noise? If I tickle here will you do it again?”

*Will ask Keeley if you’re in a lee mood when he can’t read you. She’s his go to about this kind of touchy feely stuff.

*You’re one of the few people he hugs. You’re the only person besides Keeley that gets side squeezes while hugging you.

*Sometimes he won’t stop and continues doing so till you let go while he’s still holding on.

“Oi! I give you a fucking hug and you’re not even hugging back? I don’t hug anyone then I hug you and this is the thanks I get.”

*He doesn’t like being tickled unless it’s Keeley so he won’t let you tickle him that much. However, when he’s in a more playful mood you and Keeley team up to tickle him.

*But if it’s just you, you can most likely get a couple pokes in before he turns the tables on you.

Sam~

*The sweetest and most ticklish out of everyone you’ve told.

*Gets just as embarrassed as you do when talking about it because he’s so sensitive.

*Overall, it was a very long deep conversation that brought you closer together.

*He told you that it reminds him of back home and finds comfort in being able to laugh freely when he needs it.

*You have a blast teasing and tickling him. He doesn’t love it as much as you do but he enjoys it and sees it as a fun way to make someone laugh.

*Gentle and playful tickles fights if the other person is down about a game or life.

*Can’t say the word tickle to save his life but will tease you about how adorable your laughter is.

*Okay but fun sleepovers with Sam and some of the other guys and they all team up to tickle you.

*You and Sam are a teasy ler duo to everyone else on the team.

*Giant group tickle fights and sleepovers. Whether it’s every person for themself or teams, group tickle fights are a sleepover must. A good handful of the team talked to Sam about tickling after he talked to you about it and now you have a little group that loves to have tickle fights and cuddle piles.

Team Gai "Needs" a Medical Ninja

I often see the talking point that Team Gai does not have a healer on their team, and that makes them incomplete/ lacking in some way. I'd like to bring up a counterpoint:

Team Gai does not need a healer, because every member of team Gai acts as a healer in their own way. Sometimes, better than any medical ninja could provide on their own.

Gai & Lee

Now one might think that these two knuckleheads are the most likely to get injured or need a healer after they fight. And it's true, these two are the most likely to hurt themselves. Both in how up close they get to their opponents, and with how the Eight Gates effects their bodies.

However, those same Gates that break their body appart, can also heal them.

Gate 2, The Gate of Healing, has been shown to actively heal bad cuts and stop the bleeding of any major wounds. Although it takes up a lot of energy, it will save them in almost any emergency situation. By Shippuden, both are able to open the gates multiple times back to back without permanently damaging their bodies (minus the 8th), so these two actually have the highest chance of recovering from serious injuries on team Gai.

Further more, Gai particularly has extensive knowledge on the human body. To the point he can make his own food pills and set any broken bones he or his kids may acquire. So long as he has the right tools, he can protect his kids.

Neji

Neji has probably the best chakra control of the group which could technicallymake him the best chance of being the team healer (although I don't think canon went with this or confirmed it). More importantly, he has the Byakugon. If he or his team got hurt, he could look inside them and see what the injury is, how its effecting them, and how to handle it

If they need to stop the bleeding, he could probably do so with his gentle fist. Temporarily stopping the blood flow and tourniquet any wound until they could see a doctor. His eyes are like having an MRI and a Xray machine with the team at all times. He could pinpoint the extent of the injury and see if the damage is to the bones, blood, tissue, organs or even chakra network. Analyzing and discovering his team's injuries would be his to and protect his team.

TenTen

Contrary to popular belief, Tenten is not just a weapons expert, she's a summoning expert. There is a LOT more than weapons in her scrolls and she could summon an entire medical tent and full of supplies at a second's notice. There is nothing her scrolls can't carry: cables, bandaids, tornaquets, burn remedies, antibodies, antipoisons, medicine, even blood bags: TenTen could have all this and more. Should anyone get injured, she could physically tend to the team or at least provide all the equipment neccessary to protect the team, should anyone get hurt.

In conclusion: Team Gai does not NEED a Medical ninja. Because every member of Team Gai could act as a medical specialist in their own way, without the use of medical Jutsu.

Nora is a doctor, and the inventor of the Cryo-chamber. Victor is a nurse here. They have a daughter named Holly.

Once again, this is set in the Burtonverse. Ted Levine is the faceclaim here, with a costume inspired by the classic Peter Lorre film, Mad Love (Mr. Freeze is our favorite German lovesick rogue after all).
