Kaz Brekker x gn! grisha! Reader - Newbie
A/n: I love this request, it was absolutely brilliant!
Request: Hello there, I love your writing, it's so amazing but may I request a Kaz Brekker one shot were the reader is a Tailor and they are very powerful, and once an enemy (there to kill Kaz obv) sneaked inside the slat to kill but the reader do first and Kaz is very impressed and when he asks what happens, they say "what? you think i'm gonna let some random asshole sneak in with a gun and have tea with them?" or something sarcastic like that, thank you so much and take your time, take care!! <;3 @abookloverlmao
Warnings: swearing, killing, death, guns, indentures, I think that's it? You have been warned!
The three P's:
[Pronouns used: you/your] [Pov: 2nd person] [Pairings: (romantic!) Kaz x reader]
You were new to the Crows as your abilities were not ones commonly used in battle. But you weren't there for a battle, you were there as a spy.
You would scowl at the word spy if anyone ever used it to describe you, a spy was someone who blended in with the background who was not seen. You were nearly always seen, that was often the point of you being there.
You were a Tailor, and your art although it could be used on other people was primarily used on yourself. As you had grown up in the barrel and there wasn't many people to help you hone your skills.
After living in indentures after indentures to women, men, anyone who wanted a grisha Tailor, you had gotten tired. You were being used to your very limb to people you didn't want to work for, sure Tailoring is certainly your passion. Though there is always a difference between living your passion, and forcing it.
In an act of desperation you had whispered to a Crow who was known as the Wraith but you had later found out is named Inej that you could give them information if they could free you.
Somehow it had gotten all the way up to Kaz Brekker and one day your indentures to the people who wanted you without stop had disappeared and you were sitting up in an office in the Slat trying not to sweat your arse off.
Eventually you had talked to Kaz but you hadn't pleaded your case to him like he had expected you to. No, instead you had explained calmly how you could be the Dregs double agent with almost a smirk on your face.
Kaz didn't like your finesse, how dramatic you were, but he had eventually put you to the test and you had been entirely correct. You were a perfect asset to the Crows, and had made Kaz Brekker look stupid.
Despite all of this though, you felt the need to prove yourself, you weren't just a measly little Dreg anymore, you were a Crow. The best of the best, and although you acted as if you were more full of yourself than Jesper and Kaz combined you knew that you felt like you were in debt to Bastard of the barrel. He had freed you from your captors and you have never repaid him.
Some part of you wanted to repay him the world.
Thoughts like those wouldn't leave your mind as you lounge on one of the chairs in the Slat mindlessly looking at an painting that was probably stolen on your right side.
To your left there was three people, two joyously in conversation presumably about a win, and the third looked somber, and excited.
The emotions confused you, you didn't know how someone could be somber and excited? The two together just seemed wrong.
Opposites, isn't that what you and Kaz were? If something is opposites then something is going on. (Although you couldn't say the same about you and Kaz.)
With people and emotions, the combination meant something and in the barrel never something good.
Your eyes followed their figure as they left the room quietly, to go up the stairs of the Slat, you were going to leave them to their own devices and brush your thoughts off as paranoia. You would of noticed if there were a double agent in the Slat, right?
Why would you be paranoid about a double agent? You're a double agent yourself for Kaz but that's either for getting information or for killing someone directly. Although option one usually ends with someone's body dropping to the floor just indirectly.
The only reason there would be a double agent in the Slat would be to kill Kaz, directly or indirectly. But why would there be-
That fucking Merchant!
You nearly leaped out of your seat as you remembered, the Crows had stolen last from a Merchant two weeks ago. Somehow the Mercher had figured out. Although Kaz had said that he had it covered now it was obvious that he didn't.
Your theory was just confirmed when you saw a concealed gun on their side and the way their body leaned towards the right of the stairwell despite that the railing was on the left.
Because Kaz's office is on the right!
Yes, you would notice another double agent if you saw them.
Slowly, you sat up from your seat and walked leisurely behind the double agent. You brought your hand up to your face and changed some small things about it, just so they wouldn't get suspicious that you were following them.
Then in their foolishness when you walked past them and turned the corner past Kaz's office they were overjoyed. Their hands were shaking as they pulled their gun from their coat and had their other hand on the door knob.
Scowling you pulled your own gun out, they were basking in their glory and their near accomplishment that they didn't even think to double check their surroundings and never hesitate.
So with an easy click off the safety you cleared your head thinking about the person's life you were going to take. This wasn't a job, this was much different.
It was undeniably for Kaz, you didn't want to be in debt to anyone. If you truly didn't care for him you would have let him die.
And with a simple pull of the trigger the once living eyes now laid open, looking on to nothing.
Of course the noise of the gun had alerted Kaz and when he opened his door he was surely met with a sight.
A dead body on the floor with you over it with a gun in your hands as you looked at him unimpressed with a hand on your hip.
He didn't realize now, although if he analyzed it later he would assuredly see that it was all an act to cover up how much you wanted to see him alive after someone had just attempted to kill him.
"You killed him?" He rasped with an raised eyebrow. Obviously a bit confused.
"What? You think I'm going let some random asshole sneak in with a gun and have tea with them?" You loured with a roll of your eyes.
He pressed his lips together in an attempt to not let a smile reach his face.
He didn't succeed.
Dirtyhands is smiling, not fully like you people see at those clubs, no Dirtyhands had a small genuine smile on his lips because of you.
You had made Kaz smile!
You couldn't read Kaz, you're not sure that Kaz could understand his own emotions sometimes, but you knew that in that moment he was proud.
If only you could've read his thoughts because in those moments Kaz wasn't only thinking about how proud he was of you;
'Oh shit, I am in love.'

Broke: "Dick Grayson was upset at a new kid taking over his mantle because he doesn't think Jason will be good enough as Robin"
Woke: "Dick is upset at Jason, not because he's suddenly taking over the mantle he created, but because Jason isn't nearly feral enough of a child to drive Bruce insane in Dick's place"
Dick: You wanna be my successor? Go swing from that chandelier right now.
Jason:
Dick: As a matter of fact, I need to see you crawling all over the walls. Make a ruckus, break some furniture
Jason: But Bruce-
Dick: SCREW Bruce. Your job as my new brother is to make his life HELL. Why are you so polite? Why are you so calm? Where's your DRIVE, your PASSION, huh? You may be worthy of the title of Robin, but are you WORTHY of being my disaster brother?
Jason, a little scared: I dont-
Dick, scoffing: The youth these days just don't rebel like they used to.

Not to rehash this discourse so close to his birthday but genuinely what other mysterious unnamed trauma of Jason’s is Bruce referring to in bftc if not csa? We know that:
It’s something that happened to him
It’s something that happened to him pre-Bruce, so it presumably could’ve happened while he was an extremely vulnerable unsupervised homeless child
It’s something associated with secrecy and shame: Jason only told Bruce about it and freaks out about Dick playing his hologram talking about it
It’s something that affected him profoundly, Bruce says it left him “broken” (ugh side note: hate this language) and he seems to get retriggered by it being brought up again
What other trauma is coded like this besides sexual assault? Like genuinely I have yet to hear an answer that fits as well or better
#Jason rehashed Mia’s entire storied history of abuse and assault and ended with ‘u just like me fr fr’ brother WHAT do you mean by that??#people get mad about this headcanon like people just pulled it out of nowhere for Jason whump but I’m sorry to tell you that Judd Winnick#and Tony Daniels did that first. It’s just a valid interpretation of the text I fear 🙈. And as far as headcanons go I think the backing is#pretty solid#Jason Todd#dc#I’m not saying that you have to adopt it into your headcanon I kinda go back and forth with it myself I’m just saying that the evidence is#there. I think some people just don’t have to stomach to think about it (fair I guess) while others act like you’re only allowed to be a#victim if you’re a Good Person (lame). And I mean Jason did specifically name rapists on his shit list when he was talking to Onyx in utrh#which could mean anything 🤷🏾♀️…#Csa mention /#csa tw /

I can't find it now but there's a post about suspension of disbelief and how it's broken when the story starts trying to excuse it. "character gets knocked unconscious for hours but there's no further issues from this" okay 👍 "and actually this makes perfect sense because of this and that" um no it doesn't why are you lying to me. like i am willing to ignore the holes and the discrepancies!! all you need to do is let me and not bring unnecessary attention to it!!!
and all that is my issue with the whole robin child soldier argument. like i am willing to ignore it i am willing to engage with the fantasy literally all you need to do is NOT try to convince me that Actually It's Fine Because They Want To Do It or whatever. like literally just shut up about it and i can engage with the fantasy!!
#my dc posting#dc#robin#batman#like. if you want to tell a story and not worry abt the child endangerement thing just DONT BRING IT UP ???#all you're doing when you bring it up is telling me this is something i'm allowed to think abt when it comes to the story#and then you tell me Um Actually It's Fine ?? no! what the fuck are you talking about!!#i am tryinggggg to just have fun n read fics your lil “isnt that child endangerement and kinda fucked up?” “no actually they wouldve done i#anyways bla bla bla batman couldnt have stopped them bla bla bla''#is COUNTERPRODUCTIVEEE#dick grayson#jason todd#tim drake#damian wayne#<- tagging the robins sorry#sorry this just. this topic annoys me so much#...also ''batman couldnt have stopped them/they wouldve done it with or without him'' are literally#just factually incorrect in jason's case. he did not in fact start on his own and the only thing batman wouldve#needed to do to stop him is literally just NOT make him robin BUT- at this point im just beating a dead horse on that topic#w how many times i bring it up lmao#like. in real life you cant just knock a person unconscious for hours with no consequences on them.#but i dont care when it happens in fiction despite being not realistic!! bc its fiction!!!#unless of course the characters out of nowhere do a lil sidequest PSA abt how actually doing that is fine#and completely safe with no risks#yknow??#like if that happened id be annoyed and like no its fucking not fine why are you trying to convince me. just move on and dont bring it up#and I wont bring it up#anyway. yeah these are just some thoughts im having rn sorry its not more coherent and put-together i cant be assed rn lmao

I gave myself a writing challenge and I am fascinated by it
So basically I put the robins in a randomizer to give them a new order/role (because I just...kinda wanted to see what would happen + I like role-reversal AUs) and got results that are giving me a fucking brain blast.
Stephanie, the first sidekick who defines the role
Tim, the sidekick who dies and comes back wrong
Dick, the sidekick who saves Batman from himself
Damian, the sidekick who was never supposed to be a sidekick but would go on to prove everyone wrong
Jason, the youngest sidekick who is still the Kid Wonder
...So this is fucking wild. I've got some ideas and several of these fit perfectly (Dick's role is pretty similar to his one in canon), but some of these are fucking INCREDIBLE to explore (Steph being the first Robin is something I never even considered but tbh I kinda love it).
I probably won't write a fic or anything because tbh I don't like publishing my writing that much, but I might expand this into a full AU and post about it. I might randomize other stuff too (ie, stuff that I cannot change vs stuff that I cannot keep the same) but this fucking rules as a starting point.
#uhhh what am I calling this??#randomizedrobinsau#stephanie brown#oh my god I am so excited to figure out how tf to write this.#because she's my favorite of these characters and having HER be the first sidekick + the one who has a mentor/older sister relationship#with the others?? kickass. though I'll probably keep her and Tim's relationship as 'dating-then-exes' because I think it's funny#and then SHE can be the Robin who Tim got fixated on + figured out her identity?? holy fuck and then the angst of Tim later dying#Tim Drake#tbh I kinda wish he'd gotten a different position because 'sidekick who dies' Tim has kinda been done a lot with the standard#reverse robin aus. But it'll still be fun to write. Definitely going the Joker Junior route with this because Batman Beyond kicks ass#Dick Grayson#He'll honestly probably be the easiest. Like...his role has not changed much outside of being younger/not the one who defines this#But I still think it'll be good to see how well I know Dick beyond his eldest brother thing (which is my best way of relating to him)#Damian al ghul#damian wayne#oh this is gonna kick ass#Bruce does not want his son to be a sidekick but Damian just kinda forces his way into that role#and everybody doubts him because of his history with the league but he later proves himself more than capable#to the point that he can set out mostly on his own and still thrive#Jason Todd#Jason being the baby of the family is also something I have never thought about but holy shit it could kick ass#I really hope that I don't roll 'Jason must die' or 'Robin 5 must die' on the randomizer. I just kinda want Jason to live this time#But unfortunately I double-screwed him because he's on the 'must happen' wheel twice now. I did not think these prompts through#TBH I am so happy that none of them rolled their OG roles. because that would have been so fucking boring

For the au ask game!
OKAY I wanted specifically to get to the pokemon au from the ask you sent, it's been cooking a bit so it's time to see what comes out of the oven, so... @azol-otl ty for the ask!
Crossover au's are all about the fused worldbuilding for me and speculating on how characters from universe A would fit into universe B heehee hoohoo - and for Batfam especially it's fun to think about the equivalent of their roles as vigilantes! What kind of people have the same level of celebrity, the same sideways seeking of justice?
Naturally this leads you to the gym leaders because a) it's the most fun and b) they are like. Quasi-law enforcement/educators/professional athletes depending on how you try to translate the innate child's perspective on the pokemon universe into something that makes sense as an adult lol ilu pokemon. [insert 'compels me though' gif here]
SO with this in mind, here's 5 fun facts (that are mostly backstory lmao) from a jaytim pokemon au I would write
I'm deeply ill about pokemon so this one goes under the cut lol:
Jason Todd used to be the Champion. He won the role after Dick Grayson quit a year or two before (Dick had been getting older and chafing under the League rules - meaning he'd been chafing under how Bruce ran the League) and was a fierce competitor who didn't believe in going easy on anyone. His Houndoom was a force to be reckoned with, and despite running a mostly Dark-type team, his Honchkrow cleaned up anyone thinking their Fighting-types could sweep. He looked after the League and Gotham with a cocky, self-assured attitude and the win record to back it up. .
Jason disappeared suddenly at the age of 15. Many assumed him dead, after a Rocket (Or whatever Gotham themed gang name we want to go with lol could be Team Joker) bombing in the area he'd last been seen, but he's officially declared missing. Bruce Wayne took back the duties of interim Champion as he once did for Dick Grayson, but he's not quite the mentor he once was. It's obvious he's grieving, and that he doesn't want to mentor any more twelve year olds. Dick signed up to be a Gym Leader shortly after this, returning from his trip about a year early to help out in the chaos following Jason's disappearance. .
Enter Tim Drake. Tim's gym challenge wasn't all that interesting in the circuit at first; he had a rocky start and had to retake a few gym challenges. He wasn't exactly sweeping on his first try every time like Jason had done. He didn't have the meteoric rise that caught the Champion's attention early, didn't get one-on-one mentorship or face-to-face meetings, cautionary advice and congratulations all rolled into one from Bruce Wayne himself - but Tim had patience and grit, and he paid attention. He was gunning for the Championship, and it wasn't just so he could prove himself. Team Rocket/Joker was still out there, and Bruce needed all the help he could get. He was always better for Gotham when he had a Robin. .
Dick had been nicknamed Robin for his all-Flying-type team and especially his Natu-then-Xatu; Jason followed up with his Murkrow-then-Honchkrow; Tim's Rookidee was one among many (Robin-esque pokemon were popularized by Dick and the trend remains through Tim's day) so he wasn't considered a possible Robin successor until it was a Corvisquire and he was about to face Dick Grayson himself, a badge away from Victory Road. By then, Tim and his team were a well-oiled machine (he runs mostly Steel-types lol but also Normal-types for the unexpected adaptability and the 'underestimate my rattata i dare you it's in the top peRCENTAGE--' of it all. FEAR.), and his loss-record had all but frozen while his win-record ticked higher and higher. .
Shit finally goes down about three years after Tim has become Champion and all but bullied Bruce into mentoring him (he basically said 'if you don't watch me, i'll go find Team Rocket/Joker on my own' and triggers all of Bruce's child endangerment traumas simultaneously) and the mysterious Rocket/Joker leader Red Hood shows up, bringing the gang out of the shadows in pursuit of a hidden agenda. Identity shenanigans and "wait is that a Houndoom? But he's only been using Ghost-types, it CAN'T be..." and heel-face turns abound. .
(BONUS FACT: Something something, Jason went into deep cover with Looker or whoever he is, that Interpol guy from X & Y (WAIT. LOOKER MIGHT ACTUALLY BE TALIA AL GHUL IN THIS AU HOHOHO), infiltrating the Rocket/Joker gang and going public as Red Hood is the first step in the last phase of the sting. Cue a million tense Jaytim interactions in which Tim is legitimately trying to take Red Hood down and Jason desperately tries to shake him so that he doesn't do anything that forces Jason to blow his cover. There is at least one 'tugged into a tight space to hide them both from the actual bad guys, "wait, did you just HELP me...?" "Think whatever you want, babybird"' interaction because I am a slut for the first sprinkles of a redemption arc that is rife with UST fufufu)
#did i make this pokemon au actually an undercover spy action movie? yes. yes i did#also their full team comp i will leave to the imagination haha#everyone has their preferences for what's appropriate so i'll name a general typing preference and leave it there mostly#but I will defend Dick 'the Flying' Grayson(s) forever. all flying types for him change my mind#I like the idea of city-boy through and through street kid Jason having a stereotypical inner city team at first#but his team changes and expands as his pokemon journey really kicks off#i always think of that one short from the start of Pokemon 2000 with the inner city tire castle that pikachu finds#and the houndour that FUCKS IT UP LOL#so to me houndour is like. okay it's one of my favorite pokemon (COULD YOU TELL *glances at my banner) but it's a def an urban pokemon to m#so i like the idea of scrappy street kid Jason finding a houndour 🥺 and that was his first pokemon 🥺#so he kinda falls into dark-types in part because of the stigma around them being difficult to raise and him calling BS#and then of course he switches to ghost-types after he 'dies' in part to separate his identity as Red Hood from Jason Todd#but also for the joke of it all lmao look the dead boy uses ghost pokemon. who also have a stigma for being creepy/unlovable. i cry forever#Tim's team i am the most *shrug* about but i do think he has either a competitive team or a meme team lol#but for him i do like the aesthetics of steel- electric- normal- because Tim is the robin with secretly unhinged normal boy swag#he's out here doing the math and making you underestimate him look at his big tanky aggron lol so slow and then BAM#pikachu with light orb and x6 agility x6 double team u can't touch that rat electro ball to the face#Does his wigglytuff know thunderpunch? ice punch? fire punch? good luck guessing he switches its move set after every battle mfer#OKAY ANYWAY#ty azol for the ask!! i love pokemon i have many brainworms owo#edit: had to fix the formatting a bit to make this READABLE. God help me if it sucks to look at RIP#jaytim#not fic#my writing#ask game#asked and answered#pokemon#dc

Currently thinking about kid Jason trying to look like his dad (willis)
#DISCLAIMER IM STILL ACTIVELY READIJG COMICS THE ONLY VERSION OF WILLIS I KNOW IS THE ORIGINAL#WHO WHILE A CRIMINAL WAS NOT IMPLIED TO BE ABUSIVE OR /TRYING/ TO HURT JASON. AND WAS MOSTLY ABSENT DUE TO JAIL#Anyway.#i knoww they just did it so we could immediately clock Willis as Jason's dad but man. kinda thinking about how#they have the exact same hairstyle#most notably the curls#(from the picture we see when jason discovers he might be dead)#and i think its cute#jason doesn't have the curls when bats first meets him (understandable. itd be hard to maintain a specific. esp curly. style like that.#jason may not even have consistent access to a shower n shampoo at this point in his life)#and idk man! i think its fun to imagine that. rather than the hair being meant to copy a young dick from the writers#its a young jason choosing to look like his dad#holding onto what he can#because no matter what we know Jason cared about willis in some form. we know he was upset when he learned that willis had died#and wanted to get his revenge over who was thought to have done it when he had the chance#jason todd#sorry. latching onto willis bc bruce keeps disappointing me. yknow how it is

“Jason’s so rebellious”, “he’s the problem child” bro is NOT. He THINKS he is. But if anything he’s the kiss ass child trying to seem cool and rebellious. He’ll blow up a building and immediately be like “did Bruce see that?” “Did he see how rebellious I am??” “What’d he say???”. Rebellious my ass.
#He’s not really the cool antihero the fandom and even some comics claim he is#When dick rebelled he cut off Bruce however he could to be with the titans#not a expert on Tim but I think he did something similar or at least did the basic#Spray paint and skateboarding type of rebellion#But no Jason has some dumbass ideology which just happens to clash perfectly with his dads#And also gives him room to monologue about how he has daddy issues#(He doesn’t)#(At least not from Bruce)#All he does is care what Bruce thinks#In a strange filial version of the girl asking if the guy she’s “not into” mentioned her#And no I don’t think Bruce’s moral code is good#But people claiming Jason’s is better don’t understand that#“I just kill bad people”#Isn’t a sustainable solution#And can be heavily influenced by personal biases#Jason todd#i guess it’s kinda#anti jason todd#batman#red hood#dc comics#P-14c

Yknow if the speculation actually turns out to be true, I think Vigil is a pretty fitting codename for Jason
because what is this man if not the personification of mourning, a walking reminder that terrible things happen, the embodiment of "Look At Me And Remember"
#jason todd#I'm not gonna speculate because it's DC and we all know they rarely make logical choices#BUT#like i said in my tags on another post#Jason took the Red Hood persona as a weapon#it was a lure for both Bruce and Joker to get them where he wanted them in utrh#and editorial didn't think about after that because they weren't planning on him surviving beyond it#so he's just kinda been stuck with it since#and i don't mean that in a 'he should move on it's not healthy' way because ~comics~#but more in that Jason is a character that places a lot of importance in symbolism#(see the whole of utrh; changing his mask to a muzzle after Bruce smashed his helmet; using the crowbars etc)#but the Red Hood was the crux of a plan that ultimately *failed*#his options were 1) get Bruce to kill joker 2) make Bruce watch *me* kill the joker or 3) force Bruce to kill me himself#and 4) *failsafe* BLOW US ALL UP#and he was 0 for 4#i said i wasn't gonna speculate and here i am writing tag essays lmao#point is#the Red Hood name makes everything Jason does relate back to what the joker did to him#but a Vigil is about remembering the victims

This may only be tangential, but I think it’s related and need to be said:
When writers reverse the character growth of Batman villains they are also reversing the growth of Bruce. Because Bruce is such a highly empathetic person, and because his work as Batman is ultimately striving towards the rehabilitation and betterment of the rogues, the character’s maturity and his arc is directly tied to how far along the rogues are.
(This goes for the Batfam as well, but I’d say Bruce’s relationship with his villains is for more reliant upon his support of them than his relationship with his family, which also includes things like familial love, trust, and belonging.)
So when you have Bruce slowly building a frenemy-ship with Harley, helping her get out of an abusive relationship, helping with her more dangerous/violent/self destructive tendencies, and then suddenly she is with the Joker again and straight up killing people? Every part of that relationship is gone, including any way Bruce may have grown as a person, or anything he built up.
I am. So fucking tired of Batman being portrayed as a bad parent and a toxic person. And it’s so goddamn widespread. Fuck, it might be as bad as the whole “Superman being a kindhearted Boy Scout is boring” take.
I get it, the man’s not exactly stable, he watched his parents get murdered in front of him and spent years of his life training to fight crime dressed like a giant scary bat, of course he’s not perfect.
But to say that Bruce Wayne isn’t caring, isn’t empathetic, to call him abusive…it just misses the point of who the character is to me.
Why do you think he fights crime? Yes, part of it is because he’s bitter and sad because his parents were cruelly ripped from him as a child, and he’s lashing out against the corruption of his city. It’s arguably the focus of his earlier years. But he learns to become more than that. He learns to bring hope, a chance to be better.
Harleen Quinzel is the Joker’s right hand lady, but she’s also a victim of an abusive relationship and a woman with a surprisingly strong moral compass and a love for animals, and wants to get better.
Harvey Dent is a man who will decide someone’s fate on a coin toss(and a pretty inaccurate depiction of DID), but he’s also Bruce’s close friend who clearly needs help learning to live with his condition, rather than try to get rid of it, and someone who he still goes out of his way to visit, even after everything.
Victor Fries is a cold, emotionless man who will callously discard allies and blame them for being careless, but he’s also a man who’s either lashing out because he had the love of his life taken from him, or just desperate to make sure she isn’t taken from him, and is willing to do anything just to guarantee her survival.
Even the Joker, arguably one of the most morally bankrupt characters in all of fiction, is someone that Batman has offered a chance to. After the guy shoots the daughter of his friend, a girl he cared for like she was his own kid, and paralyzes her from the waist down, he tells the Joker that he doesn’t want to hurt him. He wants to get him help. He looks at this monster who has taken countless lives and says “You don’t have to be alone.”
For fuck’s sake, he sat with Joe Chill in his last moments so that he wouldn’t be alone. Joe Chill, the man who murdered his parents, who took so much from him, the person responsible for all of the misery and suffering he’s gone through. And he sits with the man to comfort him while dies.
And you’re gonna tell me the man who did that would abuse his kids?
That he’d hold up the young man whose death was his greatest failure, the boy he grieved, and say this?
That he’d look his goddamn son in the eyes and say this to him?
Why the FUCK do you think he took in Dick Grayson in the first place? It wasn’t because he saw the kid and thought “Ah. A potential soldier.”, it was because he saw a boy experiencing the same heartbreaking loss he had so many years ago, and wanted to make sure he didn’t end up as bitter and miserable as he was.
Why do you think he smiled when Tim Drake presented him a broken watch for Father’s Day? Because he was just happy to see the boy alive and safe.
DAMIAN LITERALLY POINTED AT A COW AND SAID “I’m keeping her. She’s Bat-Cow.” AND BRUCE JUST WENT WITH IT. DIDN’T EVEN NEED TO ARGUE WHY BRUCE SHOULD LET HIM KEEP HER. HE SAID “this cow is my pet now” AND BRUCE SAID “alright, bet”.
The thing about Batman is that he wants to make sure nobody else ends up feeling the way he does. That’s not just about stopping a mugger so a boy’s parents aren’t gunned down. It’s about giving his loved ones the support and care that he couldn’t have, because it was taken from him. It’s about comforting someone who just went through a traumatic experience and letting them know that they’re going to be okay. It’s about going to someone locked away in a cell who thinks that they’re a lost cause and a burden to society and telling them that he wants to help them get better. It’s about EMPATHY.
That’s what makes him a HERO. He’s meant to inspire us, to show us that we can have that same empathy for others around us, that we can turn our suffering into hope for a better future.
I just wish more people at DC would start recognizing that. But I might as well follow that example myself. Maybe through this struggle of having to see this hero mistreat the people around him and act like a grade-A jackass, people will start to recognize that missing empathy, and slowly but surely, it might come back. After all, what is this post, if not trying to bring attention to the matter in the hopes of fixing it?
#Harley is only an example but yeah#erasing entire experiences and relationships kinda affects the character#and it’s definitely a let down#like seriously why did I read twenty issues for the B plot to suddenly be thrown away#and why does that even happen like what#batman#bruce wayne#dick grayson#jason todd#tim drake#damian wayne#robin#nightwing#red hood#red robin#harley quinn#dc joker#actually e#harvey dent#mister freeze

The Tim Drake Heartthrob Conspiracy
It started as a slow, creeping suspicion. A few throwaway comments here, a couple of odd interactions there. At first, no one thought much of it.
One day, Dick was grabbing coffee near Wayne Enterprises when he overheard two interns chatting in line. “I saw Tim Drake today, and let me tell you, I think I’ve developed a new celebrity crush,” one of them said, giggling.
Dick nearly choked on his iced latte. Tim? Celebrity crush? He shook it off, chalking it up to the occasional corporate crush, nothing out of the ordinary for someone who runs a massive company. But then he heard it again the next week at a Titan’s briefing. Garfield leaned over to him during a meeting, nodding toward Tim across the room.
“Man, Tim’s really come into his own, huh? Guy’s kinda a looker now,” Gar commented.
Dick blinked, then frowned. “Wait, what?”
“Oh, come on, Nightwing,” Gar teased, “you can’t tell me you haven’t noticed! The quiet broody thing is working for him. I bet half of Gotham has a crush on him.”
By the time Dick got back to Gotham, the gears were turning in his head. Did half of Gotham have a crush on Tim?
Then it happened again. This time it was Damian’s turn.
He had been sparring with Jon in the Batcave, when their conversation drifted, as it often did. “You ever think about what it would be like to date someone like Tim?” Jon asked, completely out of the blue.
Damian froze, mid-punch. “What?”
“I mean, he’s smart, right? Responsible, kinda low-key. Would probably make a great boyfriend,” Jon continued, completely oblivious to the growing horror on Damian’s face.
“Grayson and Todd, are enough. I refuse to let another sibling of mine become Gotham’s romantic fascination!” Damian exclaimed later that night at the dinner table. The others laughed, assuming Damian was just being overly dramatic, as usual.
But the seed had been planted.
It didn’t take long for the other Batfamily members to start picking up on the signs.
Steph first noticed when she logged onto a Wayne Enterprises fan forum (because yes, those exist) and saw a thread that was simply titled, “Tim Drake’s Glow-Up Appreciation Post”. The page was filled with comments fawning over him—talking about his “sharp jawline,” his “dark, mysterious aura,” and how “charming” he was during interviews.
Naturally, Steph sent the link to Cass with a laughing emoji. “Look at our boy, growing up into Gotham’s next heartbreaker,” she joked.
But as more and more of these comments popped up in the oddest places, Steph’s joking tone faded. Was Tim really the next heartthrob?
The realization hit Jason last, as most things concerning Tim usually did. He was scrolling through his usual online haunts, browsing forums that discussed Gotham’s vigilantes, when he stumbled on something unusual.
A post titled: Top 10 Reasons Why Red Robin is the Best Looking Vigilante in Gotham.
Jason almost clicked out of it immediately, assuming it was some kind of joke. But no. There were paragraphs. Analysis. Photos that somehow made Tim look like a damn model, even in his ridiculous Red Robin cape.
Jason scrolled through in disbelief, not sure what he was more stunned by: the fact that people were thirsting after Tim, or that someone had gone to this much effort to explain why he was hot.
“That’s it. The internet is officially broken,” Jason muttered to himself, before sending a screenshot to the family group chat with the caption: Since when did Tim become a fashion icon?
The real kicker, though, was Alfred. After weeks of the Batfamily casually throwing around jokes about Tim’s newly discovered “status,” Alfred finally made his observation one morning over breakfast.
“Master Timothy has always had a certain quiet charm about him,” Alfred said as he served coffee, completely unbothered by the ensuing chaos.
Dick, nearly spilling his coffee: “Wait, you knew about this? Why didn’t you say something?”
Alfred raised a brow. “It hardly seemed necessary. I assumed you all were already aware of Master Timothy’s appeal.”
Appeal. Appeal.
Jason was laughing so hard he had to leave the room, while Steph and Cass exchanged glances that said everything: they needed to re-evaluate everything about their little brother.
The whole Batfamily was still coming to terms with it. They joked, they teased, but there was an undeniable shift. When they looked at Tim now, they saw what others had apparently been seeing for years—a quietly confident, strikingly intelligent young man who had somehow grown into one of Gotham’s most eligible bachelors.
Of course, the moment that really sealed the deal came when Tim rode into the Batcave one evening on his Red Bird bike, wearing hastily thrown on stylish outfit—a black leather jacket, perfectly fitted jeans, and a shirt that gave him a casual, yet effortlessly cool look. Running a hand through his still damp hair, a look of mild annoyance on his face.
“Sorry, I’m running late. Got a date.”
For a moment, the Batfamily just stared.
Holy. Shit.
And then, as if on cue, Dick, Steph, Cass, Duke, Jason, and even Damian had the same thought at the same time: Oh my God, Tim Drake is the Batfamily’s biggest heartthrob.
The realization was almost too much to handle.
#tim drake#batfam#tim drake is gothams most eligible bachelor#tim drake is also a huge heartthrob and i think that needs to be addressed more#his date was totally with danny btw#ofc the bats would be the last ones to realize how saught after tim is
