#this is a weird one because I like them in all different ways#I don't currently love TFOne the most but it could absolutely get to that point. I just need to see what they're like DURING the war#TFP is one of my three favorite because of the sheer 'nobody has been more insane about each other than these two' energy#I keep thinking about that time at the end of S2 where they kept fucking making swords to fight each other with#Earthspark is sweet because like...they actually have a chance. This could end well but they still need to work out the kinks.#I also like it because it shows us a fairly unique perspective: what are they like after the war is over?#because usually one or both of them are dead or there is no 'after' because the show gets cancelled#...you know what does have a version of them in the 'after'? IDW which is a continuity I am notoriously normal about#this is also compelling to me because like...it can't work. they both probably want it to but it just can't.#they've both become a version of themself that they hate. Megatron is going to be sentenced for his crimes.#Optimus is just not in a good headspace for ANY relationship let alone one with that level of baggage attached#but their faces still brighten when they call each other. they still remember what it was like to be better than what they are now.#Eathspark and IDW and TFP are all my favorites but for entirely different reasons. it's like asking me if I would rather have lasagna#or karekare or ice cream. Then TFOne is like right under those three and ready to burst above them at the slightest nudge.#SG is also a weird one because like...ok don't kill me but I don't really care for any of the canon ones. they're fine but not great.#but SG fanfics? fuckin glorious sometimes because those writers go HARD and never deescalate. I love it.#they are beholden to nobody but their own wishes and because of that they can explore so much more than any writer constrained by editors
