I'm not really a fan of the Decepticons starting out as a populist revolt against an oppressive Cybertronian government. It feels like a cheap way to make Megatron & co. more "morally gray" while also playing into the hackneyed trope of "scary violent extremists who are Just As Bad(tm) as the system that oppresses them." Plus, it doesn't mesh with most of the big-name 'Cons having military-themed alt-modes.

#this is one of those pieces of TF that I love from an in-universe perspective but LOATHE from a meta perspective#'what if the equal rights movement was evil' is one HELL of a thing to create and that narrative can be damaging for people#I love stories where characters do terrible things for what they genuinely believe is the greater good but it can be difficult to strike#that balance when you ascribe real-world ideologies or rights movements to it. and as much as I like IDW I think it fails#more often than it succeeds in this regard even from an in-universe perspective. let alone a meta one where it matters more.#Prime is even worse because I don't think they even really cared about the idea of Megatron initially being a revolutionary.#it comes up I think twice in the show (counting the flashback) and the movie either forgets it existed or does an even worse thing and#insinuates that what Megatron experienced wasn't REAL oppression because he only experienced that with Unicron.#This novels improve this slightly but it still has the same core issue that IDW does: the meta impact of it could be incredibly negative.#I love a complicated Decepticon movement that started off with righteous intentions but you have to be careful when writing it

I need the fandom to stop applying intent to writers and creators because you're only setting yourselves up for disappointment. Knock Out was not supposed to be positive gay rep, they just wanted to make jokes about how 'gay' he seemed. Very few characters are coded as anything (Jazz is NOT included here he IS coded), because the character bases were made in the 80s during a time people didn't even discern between a mental disorder and a disability. Orion and D-16 were written as a "brotherly bond" and while I love MegOP from TF:One, don't set yourself up to be disappointed when their relationship is never taken anywhere (if we ever do get sequels and they do get a relationship I will gladly eat my hat though).

@chaetocercus has been enlightened me about marsupials and Soundwave w/ his little family and I can’t help but love it a lot 🦘 it’s very cute but also very cool considering how funky marsupials are! Also consider exhibit A: red kangaroo does (females) are also called blue-flyers because of their coloring! Blue mamas that are very jacked 😌 it’s only the best for them (also, apparently drawing kangaroos is fun, they have a fun shape to them)
