Supplements & Vitamins
Here's a list of some of the most commonly used supplements and their benefits. Please remember that while supplements can be beneficial for certain people, everyones nutritional needs are different. It's always a good idea to consult with a specialist before adding any new supplements to your routine, as individual needs may vary.
Multivitamin: Provides a range of essential vitamins and minerals to support overall health and fill potential nutrient gaps in your diet.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Promote heart health, brain function, and reduce inflammation. Typically derived from fish oil or algae.
Vitamin D: Supports bone health, immune function, and may have a positive impact on mood. It's commonly obtained through sun exposure, but supplements can be useful, especially in winter or for those with limited sun exposure.
Probiotics: Help promote a healthy gut microbiome, aiding digestion, nutrient absorption, and immune function.
Magnesium: Important for muscle and nerve function, bone health, and energy production. It may also help with relaxation and sleep.
B vitamins: Help convert food into energy, support brain function, and maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails.
Vitamin C: Boosts immune function, acts as an antioxidant, supports collagen production, and aids in iron absorption.
Zinc: Essential for immune function, wound healing, and cell division. It also supports normal growth and development during pregnancy, childhood, and adolescence.
Iron: Required for red blood cell production and oxygen transport. Iron deficiency can lead to anemia and fatigue, but it's essential to get iron levels checked before supplementing.
Calcium: Crucial for bone health and muscle function. It's often combined with vitamin D for better absorption.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): Plays a vital role in energy production within cells and acts as an antioxidant. It may benefit heart health and cellular energy metabolism.
Curcumin (Turmeric extract): Possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, potentially supporting joint health and cognitive function.
Ashwagandha: An adaptogenic herb that may help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support cognitive function.
Green Tea Extract: Contains antioxidants and may support cardiovascular health, weight management, and cognitive function.
Glucosamine: Commonly used for joint health and may help alleviate symptoms of osteoarthritis.
Chondroitin: Often taken alongside glucosamine, it may help reduce joint pain and improve joint mobility.
Probiotics for Gut Health: Certain strains of probiotics can help restore and maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria, supporting digestion and immune function.
Melatonin: A hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles, melatonin supplements can help with insomnia or jet lag.
Vitamin E: An antioxidant that supports immune function and may help protect against cellular damage.
Ginseng: An adaptogenic herb that may help increase energy, reduce stress, and support cognitive function.
Prebiotics: These are non-digestible fibers that promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, supporting gut health and digestion.
Magnesium: In addition to its previous benefits, magnesium may help reduce muscle cramps, improve mood, and promote relaxation.
Probiotics for Vaginal Health: Certain strains of probiotics can help maintain a healthy balance of vaginal flora, reducing the risk of infections.
Cranberry Extract: Often used for urinary tract health, cranberry extract may help prevent urinary tract infections.
Resveratrol: Found in grapes and berries, resveratrol has antioxidant properties and may support heart health and longevity.
L-theanine: An amino acid commonly found in green tea, L-theanine may promote relaxation, improve focus, and reduce anxiety.

Let’s talk Health

So guys, i am turning 29 in a month and let’s be real my body is not what it used to be! Despite me working out 4times a week, fasting, and paying attention to what i eat, i can feel my body weakening in way. Not that i don’t feel healthy but I’m still having some back pain, less energy, and just like feeling my body more. And that is normal.
20 years old me and 30 years old me wont be the same! There are things that we need to do to keep up so we maintain our best self. My body wont be producing all the collagen that i use too, likes guys i can hear my BONESSS! And I’m telling that is is not giving!
After a bit a research, i realized that i was lacking nutrient that my body could not produced on it’s own or way less!
So here a list of Nutrients we need as bad gyals hitting our 30s, especially as black women
1. Vitamin D 🌞
Why? Black women are more likely to have vitamin D deficiency due to melanin reducing sun absorption. Low levels can affect bone health, immunity, and mood.
Sources: Sun exposure (15–30 mins/day), fatty fish (salmon, mackerel), fortified foods (milk, orange juice), and supplements (2,000 IU daily if deficient).
2. Iron 💪🏾
Why? Many Black women experience iron deficiency, which can lead to fatigue, hair thinning, and anemia.
Sources: Lean meats, beans, lentils, spinach, tofu, fortified cereals. Pair with vitamin C (oranges, peppers) to boost absorption.
3. Magnesium 🧘🏾♀️
Why? Supports stress management, sleep, muscle function, and heart health. Many people don’t get enough.
Sources: Nuts, seeds, whole grains, dark leafy greens, dark chocolate.
4. Calcium 🦴
Why? Helps prevent osteoporosis, which Black women are at higher risk for later in life.
Sources: Dairy, leafy greens, almonds, fortified plant-based milks.
5. Omega-3 Fatty Acids 🧠
Why? Supports heart, brain, and joint health while reducing inflammation.
Sources: Salmon, sardines, walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds, omega-3 supplements.
6. B Vitamins (Especially B12 & Folate) ⚡
Why? Helps with energy, brain function, and red blood cell production.
Sources: Eggs, fish, meat, leafy greens, fortified grains, and B-complex supplements if needed.
7. Collagen & Vitamin C ✨
Why? Supports skin, hair, nails, and joint health.
Sources: Bone broth, citrus fruits, bell peppers, berries, collagen supplements.
8. Fiber & Probiotics 🥗
Why? Supports gut health, digestion, and weight management.
Sources: Whole grains, beans, vegetables, yogurt, kefir, and fermented foods.
9. Zinc & Selenium 💁🏾♀️
Why? Supports immune function, hair health, and thyroid balance.

She is using Aderall to lose weight? Isn't she skinny as f**k already?
Uh, no. Lily hasn't been skinny since her late teens/early twenties, anon. Nothing wrong with that but its why when she uses fat as an insult it's so funny.
Even if you are overweight, losing a lot of weight very quickly due to anorexia or bulimia is extremely unhealthy. It's actually healthier for you to maintain being overweight than it is to lose a significant amount very quickly. Healthy weight loss is usually around 4-8 pounds a month. It's why its so difficult for so many people.
If you are:
Eating a healthy, varied, consistent diet
Listening to your hunger queues and not overeating
Can move around at a normal pace that doesn't make you uncomfortable or feel pain, or shortness of breath
Do not have a metabolic condition
You're probably at your ideal weight. Some people are just fat. You know very little about a person's health in most cases just by looking at them. What matters is what's going on inside. (cholesterol, joint pain, sodium levels, macro nutrients, etc) Adipose tissue in and of itself isn't unhealthy. It's just kinda... there. It doesn't poison your body, though a significant amount of it can make it more difficult to move around comfortably. It can be indicative of poor diet but again, you cant know for sure. Someone that is eating unhealthy and is fat will look the same on the outside as someone who started their healthy eating journey four years ago and is still hard at work.
There is also no moral value attached to body size. It literally affects no one and it's important to not be ashamed of our bodies. A body we're ashamed of is not one we're likely to take care of.
All that to say is that, Lily is fuelled not by health here, but entirely by vanity. Which I get to some extent as someone who has struggled with anorexia since I was 15. You can do what I did and educate yourself and get better or you can go down the toilet popping pills and dreaming of being skinny and pretty until you're a husk.

STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH!
Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. -> HARVARD HEALTH
INNER BENEFITS:
Improved Flexibility: Stretching helps increase the range of motion in your joints and muscles, promoting flexibility. This can enhance your ability to perform everyday activities and maintain proper posture.
Reduced Muscle Tension and Stiffness: Stretching helps release tension in the muscles, reducing stiffness. This is especially beneficial for individuals who may experience muscle tightness due to prolonged periods of sitting or physical inactivity.
Enhanced Circulation: Stretching increases blood flow to the muscles, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients. Improved circulation contributes to better overall cardiovascular health.
Better Posture: Regular stretching can improve posture by correcting muscle imbalances and reducing the strain on specific areas, such as the neck, shoulders, and lower back.
Prevention of Injuries: Stretching before physical activity can prepare your muscles and joints, reducing the risk of injuries. It promotes better flexibility and helps your body adapt to various movements.
Increased Relaxation: Stretching, particularly when combined with deep breathing, can induce a sense of relaxation and reduce stress. It helps calm the mind and promotes mental well-being.
Enhanced Athletic Performance: Athletes often include stretching as part of their training routine to improve performance. Flexible muscles and joints contribute to better agility, balance, and coordination.
Alleviation of Aches and Pains: Stretching can be beneficial for individuals experiencing muscle discomfort or mild aches. It helps alleviate tension and can provide relief from certain types of pain.
Improved Range of Motion: Regular stretching helps maintain or increase your range of motion, allowing you to move more freely and comfortably.
Mind-Body Connection: Engaging in stretching exercises promotes a mind-body connection. Focusing on your body's movements and sensations can enhance mindfulness and reduce mental stress.
Better Circulation to Joints: Stretching helps improve blood flow to the joints, promoting joint health and flexibility. This can be especially important as you age to maintain mobility.
AESTHETIC BENEFITS:
Improved Posture: Regular stretching can help correct muscular imbalances and promote better posture. As you stand taller and align your body more effectively, your overall appearance may be enhanced.
Longer and Leaner Appearance: Stretching can create a longer and leaner appearance by elongating muscles. This may contribute to a more streamlined and graceful physique.
Reduced Muscle Tension: Stretching helps alleviate muscle tension, which can make your body look and feel more relaxed. Relaxed muscles often contribute to a smoother and more aesthetically pleasing physique.
Enhanced Muscle Definition: By increasing flexibility and range of motion, stretching may enhance muscle definition. Well-stretched muscles can appear more sculpted, especially when combined with strength training exercises.
Improved Circulation and Skin Tone: Stretching promotes better blood circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to your skin. This improved blood flow can contribute to a healthier complexion and skin tone.
Prevention of Muscular Imbalances: Stretching can help prevent and address muscular imbalances, ensuring that your body develops proportionally. Balanced muscle development contributes to a more aesthetically pleasing physique.
Reduced Appearance of Cellulite: While not a direct solution, regular stretching may help improve blood circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite in some individuals.
Enhanced Flexibility for Functional Movements: Improved flexibility from stretching can make functional movements more graceful. This increased ease of movement can contribute to an overall more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Relaxed Facial Expressions: Stretching, especially when combined with relaxation techniques, can contribute to a more relaxed facial expression. This can positively impact how others perceive your overall demeanour.
Elongated Muscles: Consistent stretching can give your muscles an elongated appearance, contributing to a more elegant and refined look.
PILATES, YOGA AND TAI CHI.
Pilates, yoga, and Tai Chi are three mind-body practices that offer numerous physical and mental benefits. While they share some similarities, each has it's unique principles, techniques, and focuses.
Pilates:
Focus: Pilates emphasizes core strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness.
Principles: Controlled and precise movements, breath control, and a focus on the core muscles.
Equipment: Pilates can be done on a mat or with specialised equipment like the reformer, Cadillac, and chair.
Benefits: Improved core strength, flexibility, posture, and muscular balance. It also enhances body awareness and can be beneficial for rehabilitation.
Yoga:
Focus: Yoga integrates physical postures, breath control, meditation, and ethical principles for holistic well-being.
Principles: Asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breath control), meditation, and the philosophy of mindfulness.
Styles: Various styles such as Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Kundalini offer different approaches to yoga practice.
Benefits: Increased flexibility, improved strength, stress reduction, enhanced mental clarity, and a sense of inner peace. Yoga is also known for its adaptability to different fitness levels.
Tai Chi:
Focus: Tai Chi, often referred to as "meditation in motion," is a martial art that combines slow, flowing movements with deep breathing.
Principles: Gentle and continuous movements, focused breathwork, and mindfulness.
Forms: Tai Chi involves practising specific sequences of movements or forms.
Benefits: Improved balance, flexibility, coordination, and relaxation. It is often recommended for fall prevention and is associated with stress reduction and enhanced mental well-being.

💧H20: Your Body's Best Friend 🙂
We all know we should drink more water. But let's be real, it's easy to forget amidst the chaos of daily life. So, let's dive deeper into why hydration is actually a big deal:
1. Brain Power Boost:
Focus & Concentration: Dehydration can lead to brain fog, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Water helps deliver essential nutrients to your brain, keeping you sharp and alert.
Mood Elevator: Studies suggest that dehydration can negatively impact mood, increasing feelings of anxiety and irritability. Staying hydrated can help you feel more emotionally balanced.
2. Physical Performance Peak:
Exercise Efficiency: Water plays a crucial role in regulating body temperature during exercise. Proper hydration helps you perform better, reduces fatigue, and minimizes the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Muscle Recovery: Water aids in muscle recovery and reduces muscle soreness after intense workouts.
3. Skin Nourishment:
Radiance from Within: Adequate hydration keeps your skin plump and hydrated, improving its elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Clearer Complexion: Staying hydrated helps flush out toxins, which can contribute to breakouts.
4. Digestive Boost:
Smooth Sailing: Water is essential for proper digestion. It helps break down food, move waste through your system, and prevent constipation.
5. Overall Health:
Immune System Support: Proper hydration helps your immune system function optimally, making you less susceptible to illness.
Joint Lubrication: Water acts as a lubricant for your joints, reducing friction and improving flexibility.
Tips to Stay Hydrated:
Carry a Water Bottle: Keep a reusable water bottle with you throughout the day and refill it regularly.
Infuse Your Water: Add slices of fruit, herbs (like mint or cucumber), or a splash of juice to make it more flavorful.
Track Your Intake: Use a water tracking app or just keep a note of how much you're drinking throughout the day.
Eat Water-Rich Foods: Include plenty of fruits & vegetables (like watermelon, cucumber, and celery) in your diet.

Bruno's Health After the Walls
This has probably been done before, in fact there's an analysis of the long term effects Bruno's terrible posture has probably had on his spine out there somewhere, that lives rent free in my head. But I wanna do it anyways!
So, let's talk about how living in the walls for ten years probably affected Bruno's health.
First and foremost, let's talk about what isolation does to a person, particularly lack of human touch. Because Bruno was probably ok listening in on his family's conversations, but he has gone a decade without a single hug. I'm sure most of us have heard of that one study where they took a couple of orphaned babies and just didn't give them any physical contact. The babies almost died. So yeah! Bruno is not ok.
Then there's lack of sunlight. It's possible that he's been sneaking out to get fresh air every once in a while, so we'll say this is minimal. But a slight vitamin D deficiency still means lethargy, insomnia, bone/muscle pain, and his OCD would be worse (sunlight helps boost serotonin). So, Bruno is not ok.
He's probably malnourished, even if he's stealing enough food from the kitchen quantity wise, his cooking limitations and reliance on scraps probably means he's not getting a balanced diet. Depending on what nutrients he's not getting this could lead to muscle loss, decrease bone density, affect his immune system, and cause heart problems. And if he's relying too much on a certain food group that could lead to all sorts of long term damage to his digestive system, think things like an overworked liver. Bruno is not ok.
Sanitation is another thing, we see that his living space is overrun with rats. They are a remarkably clean animal, but they still have to poop and stuff. Overexposure to feces of any animal exposes you to all types of disease, viruses, bacteria, mold, you name it. Combined with how dusty it is back there and Bruno is probably breathing the grossest air in human history, possibly doing permanent damage to his respiratory system. Bruno is not ok.
Finally, add in the physical activity required for him to navigate in the walls. There's that big ass hole in the floor that he's apparently been vaulting over for years now. While running is good for your cardiovascular health, it is hell on your joints, and if he already has all of the problems listed above it’s a miracle his knees haven’t given out. Some have suggested that Julieta’s food only heals people if she’s the one giving it, let’s hope for Bruno’s sake that’s not the case, because otherwise… Bruno is NOT ok.
In conclusion, Bruno is not ok after spending ten years in the walls and he is going to need some serious rehabilitation. Honestly, realistically, I would expect him to have scurvy, or be missing hair and fingernails, or something; but it’s a kid’s movie so let’s just handwave a little and say the miracle has prevented the worst of it. The good news is he seems to have held up remarkably well mentally speaking, and is only a little crazy, so with some love and support (and healing magic) he’s still able to have a happy life.

supplements i take every day to support my body!! and what they do :) 💗

l-glutamine:
an important fuel for your immune system. white blood cells use it to fight off infections and keep you healthy. It also helps repair damaged tissue.
also many white blood cells in your intestines use glutamine. It helps protect and strengthen the gut, keeping it healthy and preventing damage.
l-carnitine:
l-carnitine helps the body make energy by moving fats into tiny parts of cells called mitochondria, where the fats are turned into energy. It also helps get rid of waste to keep cells healthy.
ashawaganda:
can reduce stress, boost energy, improve sleep, enhance focus, strengthen immunity, support heart health, increase muscle strength, and balance hormones.
chromium picolinate:
helps regulate blood sugar, reduces cravings, supports weight loss, and improves insulin sensitivity.
omega 3 fish oil:
supports heart health, reduces inflammation, improves brain function, promotes healthy skin, and supports joint health.
creatine:
boosts muscle strength, enhances exercise performance, supports muscle growth, and improves recovery after workouts.
after every meal - betaine HCI pepsin:
helps improve digestion, supports stomach acid production, aids in breaking down proteins, and enhances nutrient absorption.
*side note - I have taken a blood test that shows my body does not produce as much pepsin as needed. I would recommend getting a test done to see which vitamins your body needs!! but I do not recommend taking pepsin unless you know your body does not supply as much as your body needs.

(( Some minor information on Miranda's health situation:
Definitely going to go with her being immunocompromised. She can't pick up a lot of things from landfolk due to the severity of the zoonotic jump needed, but she's still sick a large portion of the time, and it doesn't take a lot to put her down for a while.
Especially prone to respiratory issues and infections. Her lungs are small and not very strong, and they're under an unusual amount of strain for a merfolk. It's easy to wind her, but it's also easy for her to feel like she can't breathe at all or that she's not breathing enough. Not to mention how nasty it gets with her gills or her nostrils being right above her eyes.
Digestive issues. Unsurprisingly, Miranda is built to eat meat and very little else. She's already not eating very much to begin with, but even through drinking landfolk drinks or having other liquids enter her body, she gets a lot of things that aren't very good for a merfolk to eat, with some things being either inedible or borderline poisonous to her. If it's not severe enough to scare Miranda away from it, then she might not raise much of a fuss at all, and isn't likely to inform anyone else about it.
Notable vitamin deficiencies. Being a merfolk, she needs a lot of calcium for her osteoderms and replacement teeth, and this calcium would normally be obtained by eating bones and marrow. Miranda doesn't get either, so she has some major calcium deficiencies that lead to unusually weak bones and porous teeth. Other necessary vitamins and nutrients are also lacking, and this makes the rest of her problems a lot worse.
Severely underweight for a merfolk. Merfolk are supposed to have a lot of fat and muscle, and Miranda has notably reduced amounts of both. This has resulted in stunting in her growth and a reduced size, but she's also a lot weaker compared to where other merfolk are. That said, she's still a merfolk. Even being weak and small for a merfolk still doesn't make her any easier for a non-merfolk to handle. Because she also doesn't get a lot of fat or blubber in her diet, something very common for other merfolk, there are other compounding issues that this causes.
Severe joint pain and joint issues. This isn't new, but I might toy more with how bad it actually is, and how other merfolk who spend a lot of time on land, like Bellanda, are realizing how much it starts to mess with them over time and what this means for Miranda. She weighs a lot more now, so there's even more concern about her organs slowly getting crushed under her own weight. Organs which were already under a lot of strain.
A lot of chronic, mystery pain that she doesn't know the source of. It's not severe enough for her medical team to be concerned, or they just don't know the source of it, or Miranda intentionally keeps it hidden, so she sometimes just has really bad pain and doesn't know why.
Memory issues. There's other cognitive issues Miranda has that I'm saving, but she has a hard time retaining a lot of memories in detail and needs reminders, or else she's prone to forgetting things. It's one of the things her having her every day micro-managed actually helps her with, as she doesn't need to rely on her own memory as badly to get her through mundane situations.
#Most secret royal advisor || OOC#Given by Divine Right || Headcanons#(( basically miranda is a beautiful bouquet of health issues#(( theres also things like her insomnia... which doesnt help how everything else ensures she has chronic fatigue!#(( if she is sick a lot. yeah. shes supposed to be.#(( and she doesnt like talking about it or other people knowing about it so she just#(( doesnt tell other people whats happening#(( especially if theyre a landfolk#(( she already feels So Weird about her body around them she doesnt need to make it worse#(( and she especially doesnt talk about it to merfolk because. crown stuff!#(( theres actually no point where she talks easily about it!#(( she just wants to suffer beautifully in silence. only good way to go about it.

Fix these things or NOTHING in your life will EVER go right!!!
In 1943, American psychologist, Abraham Maslow proposed a hierarchy of needs in his paper "A Theory of Human Motivation" in the journal Psychological Review. It is a classification system intended to reflect the universal needs of society at large and as individuals. This is a great tool to use if you are struggling with gaining a sense of direction and deciding which aspect of your ascension needs more attention than another.
But anyway~
What I actually want to focus on is the most important needs on Maslow's Hierarchy, and those are the Physiological Needs.
"What are physiological needs?" you ask. Well, they are biological requirements for Human survival. Or rather, what you body needs so that you don't drop dead. A conclusive list of physiological needs is hard to find but we shall focus on four: food, water, sleep and air.

Food 🥗
Does the importance of sustenance need to be stated? Probably not, but here you go anyway. As one of the basic necessities of life, food contains nutrients, which are essential for the growth, repair, as well as maintenance of body tissues & for the regulation of vital processes. These nutrients provide your body the energy it NEEDS TO FUNCTION!!
So following a nutritious diet is a non-negotiable. 🙅♀️
Water💧
Apart from occasionally quenching your thirst and aiding in keeping you clean on a daily basis, water serve several vital roles regarding your bodily functions. It helps your body to maintain a normal temperature whether you ingest it or submerge yourself in it. (So swimming on a hot day will do you good). It lubricates & cushions joints for ease of movement, protects your spinal cord as well as other sensitive tissues, & removes of waste from the body through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements.
So are you convinced now? 🚰
Sleep 🛌
First of all, what is sleep? It's a normal bodily process wherein you body and brain rest in order to regain energy, promote growth & repair of the tissues. Major benefits of good sleep include the improvement of your brain performance, mood, & health. Studied have suggested that prolonged sleep deprivation have a greater impact on life expectancy than smoking. YIKES. Not getting enough quality sleep on a regular basis increases the risk of various diseases & disorders. These range from heart disease & stroke to obesity & dementia.
So get you rest ladies. 💤
Air 🌬
Air is arguably the most important component for the survival of life on Earth. We need air to breathe. The oxygen present in air is necessary for the respiration of living beings and the carbon dioxide present in air is important for the plants to go through the process of photosynthesis. Considering the importance of air for our mere survival, it is no surprise that poor air quality is severely detrimental to our health. It cause wheezing or difficulty breathing. Irritation and inflammation of the respiratory tract (coughing) Shortness of breath, especially during physical activity. Aggravation of existing asthma, heart and lung conditions.
So do your best to avoid poor air, and improve the air quality in you living and work spaces. 🧘♀️
Take care of yourself first. You can't pour from an empty cup.🍶💐
