So ya know that one trope in romance where one person is dumb as rocks and makes you scream because you have no idea how they can’t tell that the other persons into them? That’s me.

A person in my life (who I am very much interested in) has told me to my face that -ahem- they would like to kiss me, date me, and some other stuff I’d rather not repeat online. They also said “I love you,”. But I’m again, very horribly socially incompetent and cannot tell if they’re serious. I suspect they are, and I think I’m the last to know. Also I think I’ve been accidentally friend-zoning them?

also I’m 80% sure I go bright red whenever they talk about this. Idk. lemme just say living a horrible romance trope is worse than watching or reading it.

real gay men in real life: buck and tommy both presenting as masculine, muscular men developing an intimate and vulnerable relationship that doesn't shy away from sexuality but instead embraces it proudly and without fear means a lot for representation. it's a good thing that these two have a realistic gay relationship that is both romantic and sexual, where they both feel they are able to openly make jokes and flirt with each other as this accurately depicts my experience as a gay man. as well, seeing non-queer men describe this relationship as bummy is very offensive and in my opinion homophobic and is incredibly tone deaf as it sounds eerily similar to gay slurs targeted at gay men to mock their sexuality. utilizing this homophobic speech is not productive and is way more harmful than you realize. please stop.

Ok you know what, the level of lesbianism of this part of Higher Further Faster (Palmer 2019) deserves its own post. Also, my post with the front cover is taking off but just look at the illustration of Maria on the back cover:
