oh the way that gitae holds a dead man’s pipe with the very hands that killed him.
lighting it up with the same man’s lighter that his widowed wife inherited, which he threatened her son’s life to take it for himself.
meeting all of the man’s sons to take their lives depending on the whims of opinion.
all while wearing his clothes that are ‘worth a life’.
gitae might sound like some terrible family curse,
but he’s family, too.

haha yeah, samuel is lucky that he isnt actually one of gap’s sons otherwise gitae paying him a visit wouldve ended poorly. just like how it went for ‘the other guys’ lol
(i made that post prior to 519, so it was just loose speculation about how they would interact )
but now its very interesting how gitae agrees with jake that gapryong kim is not to be idolized as a father, but somewhat values his legacy as a hero
meanwhile samuel mainly idolized gap as a father because he was a hero
samuel’s inability to separate the man from the myth as opposed to jake and gitae knowing the true nature of man behind the myth, and despising it
it’s the very same disagreement that drove jake and samuel apart, but gitae is far less ‘nice’ than jake is, haha. he doesnt hesitate to kill people over small things like simply disliking their opinion. so samuel’s admiration for gap is definitely going to make him end up on the wrong side of gitae’s axe
samuel and gitae are technically on the same side now because of goo, so i wonder if this differing of opinion is ever going to become important to the plot, since it could provide a lot of character develop for samuel while adding on to the conflict that gitae’s arrival presents (which jake will absolutely suffer from. his weird half-brother ends up butchering his also weird ‘brother’ samuel over his terrible father gap? horrendous! jake can never catch a break lol)
perhaps we’ll get a bloodier repeat of chapter 312,
featuring gitae feeling at a loss that anyone could idolize gap as a father figure so much, without even being his son
daddy issues, in their most opposing forms :p
gitae is everything samuel thought he was, everything he wishes he were
the illegitimate son of the strongest gangster, gapryong kim? must be strong through that genetic link despite his absence in his life? adapts a brutal fighting style that relies on raw strength rather than any martial art because his status as a bastard child meant that no one was around to mentor him unlike jake, the ‘wanted’ son? a leader who can control his gang through viciousness? someone who does whatever it takes to get what he wants? committed patricide???
their circumstances, their methods, and the way they turned out is all so chillingly similar
there’s just the simple distinction of one actually being gapryong kim’s son and the other … is not
and that small little distinction makes all of the difference because samuel is bound to hate gitae for it, no matter how similar they are or how much they can relate to each other
and gitae, like jake, might be unable to understand samuel’s idolization of gapryong
and so samuel is probably going to be doomed to have another intense inferiority complex dynamic with him, especially because gitae doesnt just hate or resent gapryong, he killed gapryong
maybe there’s a part of him that can sympathize because he can see himself in gitae and relate to him a little more than jake could. jake got the privilege of being the legitimate son, but gitae and samuel didnt. samuel resents jake for being ungrateful for his status, but can he fully resent gitae for being in the same position that he thought he was in when he was younger???
samuel killed his dad too, so maybe they could relate to each other in that regard (if samuel somehow ever lets that slip lol)
but gitae didnt just kill his dad, he also killed samuel’s lifelong idol
and i dont think samuel could ignore that, even if gitae was another abandoned child like him
samuel might be able to see himself in gitae, which might create even more resentment towards him
i wonder if gitae could see himself in samuel, especially if he also idolized gapryong kim

so gitae managed to represent both jake and samuel’s most sensitive views on gapryong kim
admires the hero, hates the man
except it isn’t just admiration, it’s obsession.
and his level of resentment seems to far exceed jake’s since he went as far as murdering gap …
truly a dark blend of both their characters!!!
need to know if gitae resents or idolizes gap … desperate to know … is he like jake … or samuel
