How do you write your fics?

I mean, do you plan out the whole story and then begin to write it?

Do you make small notes about every chapter and what do you want to write in them?

Or is it just inspiration that comes to you abd leads the process of writing?

I tend to make a basic outline in my head, usually of how the story starts, big events I want to fit in, and how it ends. I usually don’t think about the other parts and just end up writing it without a plan. It’s harder to write the in-between chapters (for example, I have no idea what Chapter 4 is gonna be about) but I find it more fun that way :D

There's something extremely 2024 about watching a play through of a certain game where a certain character makes a horrible, damaging but deeply HUMAN mistake, hurting someone they admired in the process.

And instead of the audience reacting with 'oh. this is a story about humans with flaws who can hurt each other without meaning to' they go:

"YEAH FUCK THAT CHARACTER HE SHOULD DIE HE SHOULD KNOW THAT HE'S DOING A BAD THING BECAUSE I KNOW HE'S DOING A BAD THING DIE NOWWW!"

This is a mistake I'm sure a lot of people have made, it's something that *I* have done, to possibly more than one person. And so seeing it all put in display as a narrative where people are calling for his head on a pike is so
