Chronically online people and sane people will react to a "bad" game or a "bad" movie in 2 very different ways.
A chronically online person will make a tediously long video essay nitpicking apart every tiny insignificant detail about their experience, even parts of the experience that weren't even real issues. They will then harshly insult people who worked on it and people who enjoy it despite it's flaws.
A sane person will just simply say "this wasn't for me", highlight a couple of the larger problems they had with the product, and move on with their lives. They won't even engage in online arguments about it, they're so confident in their opinion that they see no reason to "defend" it.
I am trying to be more like that sane person every day of my life.
I've even started taking half-hour long walks outside, in the real world, actually touching grass.
I don't wanna be like the rest of these people anymore.
I'm just so tired. I don't wanna do this anymore.

One of the dumb Internet debates is whether or not water is wet, but i think a far more interesting question is whether or not a solute in aqueous solution is wet

About twenty years back, there was this weird transitional period after companies had figured out that harvesting their users' demographic information was a potential gold mine but before we lived in a hellish panopticon where any website operator could look up your IP address and know what you had for breakfast where some sites would try to get you to fill out, like, detailed demographic surveys before they'd let you access their stuff. Not just age, gender and geographic location, either – some of them would fish for employment status, marital status, brand preferences, even religious affiliation. A lot of folks I knew would just pick the first option in every dropdown, but my move was always to fill in the demographic information of the current Pope, at least as far as I was able to determine it (brand preference was always a tricky one). I like to think that, thanks to my efforts, their data sets are haunted to this day by a phantom pontiff.

As much as I dislike the suffix bro, I feel like it applies to debate-bro's very well. The level of derision is deserving for those annoying assholes.

Sometimes you've got to just let people be wrong instead of arguing. If only for your own peace of mind.

I'm seeing variations of this meme around again, so to today's (un)lucky 10000:
the "inside you there are two wolves" meme is racist. full stop. it was invented by a Christian pastor in the late 70s and attributed to the Cherokee nation, despite being completely made up. every native american / indigenous page I've ever followed denounces it as made up and racist, using their imagery to sound mystical and wise while ignoring the people themselves.
please consider using another format. try to use your guilt productively: I'm not calling you out, this is aimed at educating. You can't erase not knowing in the past, but you can elect to 1) not reblog these in the future, 2) delete any that are easy to delete, 3) help to spread education by following native people's accounts and news so that you hear this from them, not me.

The one who feels like they always gotta have the last word is usually the most foolish.
i dont even argue with people anymore. i simply explain why theyre wrong, and leave them to their little temper tantrum.

In this article,* a professor of clinical psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Richard A. Friedman, explains why he believes that during the Sept.10th debate, Trump showed alarming signs of cognitive decline, including incoherent, "repetitive," "circumstantial and tangential speech."
Dr. Friedman is clear that from a distance, he cannot diagnose Trump, but he recommends that Trump go through a full neuropsychiatric evaluation (NOT a brief mental-status exam) as soon as possible, especially given that Trump is running to take on the job of president/ commander in chief of one of the world's major superpowers.
When mainstream psychiatrists like Dr. Friedman start to express concern about Trump's cognitive functioning, it is time that the mainstream media begin to treat this as seriously as they did signs of Biden's cognitive decline.
