Jason: Fuck's wrong with Timberlina over there?
Tim, hunched over the batcomputer, eyes feverish, slightly shaking: Drank two mugs of dark coffee and then a slightly larger jug of light coffee today. Think I'm gonna see God in a bit now.
Dick: ...should i call B?
Damian, setting another cup next to Tim: Not yet, Grayson. I'm curious to see how long before Drake starts seeing the ghosts of my ancestors.

Phantom's Coffee
Enough Caffeine to Kill an Elephant Side Story
There is a lot that comes with being a ghost. Most of that is really cool superpowers. The unfortunate side effect with the whole being dead thing is that he doesn't have need for human functions or sustenance.
It had been a horrible thing to discover, really. The lack of constant need for sleep and food and drink was sometimes useful, but that came with the realization that nothing affected him.
At first, Danny and his team thought it was because he was dead. No blood flow, no working organs, no metabolism. This lead to a lot of experimentation. Drugs and alcohol had no effect, neither did poisons. He didn't get sick anymore, no matter what he did!
And then he realized that coffee didn't work.
Naturally distraught, Danny went straight to Frostbite to figure out what was going on. It's finals season, damnit! Coffee was gonna be the one thing to pull him through his studies!
"From what I can tell," the yeti explained, "your human functions have stopped. Quite the opposite, really."
Danny blinked. "But, I'm dead. Ghosts don't have working organs or stuff like that."
"Indeed, but you're only half dead."
"What difference does that make?"
Why did Frostbite now have charts, and where did they come from? "I can only guess, but when you died and brought back, the electricity jump started everything in your body. It essentially supercharged you. I can only assume that it'll die down in time to the point of non-function, but we can't know for sure."
"Wait," Danny's voice was nervous, "What does that mean?"
Frostbite took a minute to think over his words, looking for how to phrase what he wanted to say. "When you are alive, your heart beats slower than it did before your death, yes?"
"Yeah."
"That would be the effects of the ectoplasm that reanimated you. Your heart rate is slower, breathing takes a more conscious effort, your blood flow is slower, your organs are all working at half of what they used to." He took another moment of pause. "When you are dead, your heart beats faster than it did, breathing is faster, blood flow is faster, your organs are working at twice capacity."
Danny's breathing, now that he was very aware of it, picked up. "What- But that- What?!"
"With a high enough voltage, electricity kills. With a high enough concentration, ectoplasm reanimates."
"Reani- but I'm alive!"
"Indeed."
"But that doesn't make sense!"
"Doesn't it?"
"No!"
"Perhaps I should try a different phrasing." Frostbite said. "When you are Danny Fenton, you are more dead than alive in the sense that your body has been killed and not fully revived. When you are Danny Phantom, you are more alive than dead in the sense that your body was revived and not fully killed."
Danny was quiet for a moment. "Reanimated and revived aren't interchangeable, Frostbite."
"In some contexts', no. In others, they are."
"Are they here?"
A beat. "Yes."
Danny knew he was lying, but he didn't call him out on it. That was a crisis for another day, thank you very much.
So, higher metabolism for Danny Phantom, lower one for Danny Fenton. Great.
All crises pushed aside to freak out about never later, Danny's ew mission was to find out exactly how much caffeine would be required to give him the buzz of wakefulness that he was searching for.
Normally, the course of action would to be to measure how much e weighs and look up the maximum caffeine intake his body could handle. It was the first thing he tried, and it failed.
By the tried and true method of 'Fuck It, We Ball', Danny learned that he needs to have 35,000 milligrams of caffeine in a single sitting before any effect takes hold when he's drinking as Phantom.
The calculations running at a 5:1 ratio, caffeine milligrams to weight pounds, the lowest end on the scale of average weight of a small female elephant (3,175 kilos), multiplied by five gives him the 15,875 milligrams that would be enough to give him a low buzz and keep him awake for a few hours. That's enough to kill the elephants on the low end of the scale.
(Jazz vetoed any kind of caffeine that wasn't naturally occuring in chocolate when he's Danny Fenton. She said that he's already died once and that he doesn't need heart problems to kill him.)
(Danny calls bull, but he isn't willing to risk his sister's ire.)
Because he can't let finals get the best of him, Danny decided to take it a step further.
The highest end of the scale for the average weight of female elephants is 4,050 kilos, multiplied by the same five, gives 20,250 milligrams of caffeine.
Essentially, the lower end of the scale would give him the same effect as 99 (and a bit) 473 milliliter cans of Rockstar Energy Drinks in one sitting. The higher end of the scale would be 126 (and a bit) 473 milliliter cans of Rockstar Energy Drinks in one sitting.
All that was left to do, now that he has the maths for the desired effect figured out, was to mix that in his favorite drink: A Red Eye.
Truly an abomination for the ages.
After way too much brain power, Phantom's completed coffee order looks like this:
A large Red Eye with 20,250 mg of caffeine
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of honey
1/8 cup of chocolate syrup
and 3 mint leaves or 1 teaspoon of mint extract
(he added 4 shots of vodka when he turned 21)
Danny is gonna kick his finals' ass, and be hyped up on caffeine while doing it!

So, the other day I got fully diagnosed with ARFID.
For those who don't know, it stands for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.
It is a eating disorder usually (but not always) caused by autism. Unlike other eating disorders, it isn't caused by body image issues.
It's caused by many different reasons, such as issues with food texture, taste, appearance, the concept of food, anxiety around eating/choking, ptsd, etc.
I am autistic, but the main reason I am diagnosed for it is because I am a DID system (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and we have multiple alters that cannot stand anything about food, even the idea of eating just makes us shut down.
It makes us shut down, and because certain alters have difference in taste, most of our safefoods end up causing us to feel sick and dissociate.
So anyways, my therapist who is one of the only people in my town who treats ARFID, said that we're gonna have a long journey figuring out how to heal and live with ARFID because there isn't really a protocol for treating it caused by dissociative parts.

Crafting update! I had a bit of a health flare up a few days ago and haven't done much crafting since, but I do have the fabric ironed, cut to size, and ready to start sewing for my next canvas tote (purple and gold moths), and I've also got about half of my "whenever I feel like crocheting" baby blanket done I also ordered some shorts, and I think I might embroider them? I have one pair so I know the cuffs are a little weird, but they fit and the weird cuffs would be easy to embroider, I just have to decide between flowers or rainbow shapes like I did for my denim jacket. Maybe both? Rainbow shapes on the black shorts, flowers on the light blue? Or vice versa, rainbows on light blue, flowers on black?
#the person behind the yarn#crafting update#I am okay! I just got unlucky in the location of my muscle cramps#the salt wasting (and other salt issues) mean I am prone to some pretty vicious muscle spasms if I don't stay on top of my electrolyte inta#*intake. Usually it's just legs or arms but sometimes the muscles that hate me are smooth muscles#and mostly that's just painful but if you get muscles spasming around your digestive system it does not like it#and uh. makes that dislike known unambiguously. I am good now#but that's just extra salt lost and it takes me a few days to recover#also I've been playing stardew valley lol

so i left the psych ward against medical advice 💁
they detained me for hours (while classified as a voluntary patient) and when i told them it was illegal a nurse looked me in the face and told me he didn't care about my rights 👍
& then when i got upset about being illegally detained he told me getting emotional is evidence that i am incompetent and if they want they can just keep forming me for it as long as they want 👍
and then they ignored me for two hours and refused to give me my belongings. and also called four (4) giant male security guards to have on standby 👍 even though i have zero history of violence, am 5'5" and weigh (not much) and previously disclosed to them many, many times that i have a history of ptsd, part of which is specifically hospital trauma 👍
and then they locked me in a room and searched all of my belongings to find a reason to form me 👍
like i'm gonna throw up thinking about it. (also they still have my wallet with all my IDs and credit cards.)
anyways i got the fuck out. and it was like 12:30am but my friend picked me up and i had a fucking panic-oh-fuck-oh-shit-meltdown in his car . but i went and took a shower and then he drove me to another hospital
and they formed me too except it's way nicer here and the staff are so nice. & the unit is way bigger and quieter . and they actually listened to me and referred me to a rheumatologist (after ...... 6-7 years of begging various doctors to be taken seriously)
and i have hope for the first time in a long time! & i'm getting discharged tomorrow :)
#bit nervous. the usual 'feeling like an alien/shaky baby deer' thing i suppose#but i have a plan for going home and at the end of the month i have an intake to a 5week day patient program#i'm off work until the end of june which is weird but i guess for the best. since my stress tolerance and fatigue is at an all-time low#i want to register a complaint against the staff at that hospital except i don't think i have the energy#it was so stressful and dehumanizing and ever since i've been having nightmares again and im scared every time someone wakes me up#but i also just want to forget about it#just go home and get my life in order and rest and feel more normal#this whole thing has been so awful#and i'm glad i'm safe but so much of it was so unnecessary and im so mad at the healthcare system#pegasus speaks#ask 2 tag

literally so funny how internet leftists will be like "ummm actually using drugs is bad and evil and destroying society (I know bc the us govt and/or some random conspiracy theorist told me so 😌) and anyone who thinks we should end the stigma around drug use and try to make it safer for users is actually just trying to destroy America" but then they'll also turn right around and go "don't forget to take your meds!!! remember if you can't make your own dopamine store bought is fine ❤️. end the stigma around needing lifelong medication!!!"
like girl are you somehow laboring under the delusion that like xanax is safer and more effective at treating mental illness than LSD or ketamine or even like MDMA bc boy do I have some news for you
#this is us focused bc thats where i live and where i have encountered drug culture#i am sure similar or even the same dynamics exist elsewhere but since i dont know the nuances ill let them speak for themselves#like imagine thinking doctors are more trustworthy than ur average street dealer 😐 could NOT be me#dealers i know would never just prescribe incredibly dangerous drugs at dangerous doses on such a mass scale#that sanctions actually have to be placed on them which prevent them from PRESCRIBING MEDS TO PEOPLE#i just dont have the us medical system boot lodged inside my throat i guess#bitches will be like 'im really concerned about your weed intake' and not say a damn word abt my Klonopin which is FAR more dangerous#benzo withdrawals are no fucking joke. you can die if you do it wrong. the 'withdrawals' people report w weed are literally just like.#irritability and nausea. which in every person ive ever met was not actually withdrawals but just a result if them being stressed#bc they were no longer using weed to relax lmfao. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whatever tho yall just keep on trustin Mr. Richard Nixon#anyway if ur depressed pop a molly. i have never felt happiness like molly happiness

asking chatgpt when I will feel better from being sick
#:(#it's been a week since I started feeling ill so not technically that long but ugh#funny enough I don't think I've used chatgpt at all yet#this is just a meme replacement for 'google search:'#anyway most of the observable cold symptoms are gone#but for some reason I still feel the same way like weak and tired and malaised#my body is not actively in pain but it feels like. tender?#and you know how when you drink extremely cold water and you feel it through its entire pathway#breathing feels like that like I can feel the air throughout moving against very sensitive tender innards#ordinarily by the time the clearest symptoms (e.g. running nose etc) have resolved I feel fine#I hope to god I have not been afflicted by long covid#m#whining#potentially I may also be somewhat undernourished#I have been trying to force myself to eat but it has been hard#everything is repulsive#I suspect also that lying in bed for a week and inconsistent with food intake has not been kind to my digestive system#which is in turn not kind to my appetite#Lots Of Walking seems essential to my gut function lmao

People need to treat systems better.
People need to treat trauma survivors better.
People need to treat disabled people better.
I don't fucking care about "no one's entitled to anyone's attention or company" anymore. If you walk away from someone having an episode, you're scum. If you ghost someone because they are chronically or terminally ill, you're a bad friend. If your only support of trauma survivors lies in bossing them around and holding them to standards of perfection or whatever you think a trauma survivor should "act like," you're NOT in the right.
If people on tumblr can make posts about having the decency to make eye contact with homeless people, and long, ranting posts about commenting on fanfictions that you like (which is the LEAST important thing in the fucking world, I'm not sorry), then they need to reckon with the fact that treating everyone in the exact same way is literally oppressive. It's ableist, it's sanist, it's oppression.
I cannot compromise my sleep schedule or dietary restrictions. I cannot sit in at one of your theatre shows. I cannot help that I literally can't remember your names and pronouns. I CANNOT compromise my boundaries relating to my trauma.
Someone who is a system cannot control their switches. They cannot control who is fronting. They cannot control how disoriented they are at any given time. You shouldn't just up and abandon someone who was having a grand mal seizure, so why would you think it's okay to do such a thing to any ill or neurodivergent person HAVING AN EPISODE? Or treating disabled, neurodivergent, or chronically ill people like their needs are "too much" or like they're bad people just because they can't keep up with YOUR standards of what makes a "good person"?
If people have unique needs, you need to assess and accept that if you're going to choose to be their friend. Don't expect them to grow out of it, amd don't make it out to be "their fault" for "never changing." You're the one who became their friend in the first place. You shouldn't have done that to begin with if they weren't good enough for you.
#fuck me dude i just got 6 hrs of sleep last night because i was up until 4am helping my brother deal with this EXACT THING#I'm fucking sick of screaming into the void about this and being met with silence#it happened in 2020 and it keeps happening.#some people have cluster b disorders. some schizospec people have bad memory blocks.#some ppl have psychotic episodes triggered by learning about anything outside of their direct experience.#some systems have a high social output/intake because they literally have 6 people in there with their own social meters.#some people switch at inconvenient times. some people have alters that annoy you. some people have meltdowns in front of you.#everyone has their limits. you don't have to stay with anyone. but at the same time it's a matter of decency.#treat everyone with humanity.#you don't get to act like you have any moral high ground if you're not patient and understanding when shit hits the fan.#vent#long post#disability#ableism#chronic illness#ptsd#cluster b#trauma survivor#did/osdd

According to one 2021 study, meat accounts for nearly 60% of all greenhouse gases from global food production. Not only do livestock produce methane, but raising animals requires an enormous amount of land and resources. Another recent report found that three-quarters of global agricultural land is used for livestock.
Accordingly, the potential environmental benefits of reducing our reliance on meat are promising. One 2022 study found that reducing global beef consumption by 20% could halve deforestation in the next 30 years.
[...]
A 2021 Oxford study that looked at the environmental impact of 57,000 different foods in the UK found that fruits and vegetables have a significantly smaller impact on the planet than meats and cheeses. In this case, experts recommend protein-rich foods like beans, lentils and other legumes.
Tofu or any other soy-based product also makes for a great vegetarian protein option, Petitpain says. “Soy provides the body with all those essential amino acids in every bite,” she explains.
Even if you don’t want to totally eliminate meat from your diet, it might still be worth increasing your intake of plant-based protein sources. Although most Americans get adequate protein overall thanks to high meat intake, according to the US dietary guidelines, they tend to under-consume specific protein subgroups. For instance, half do not consume the recommended amounts of nuts, seeds and soy products.

i told my doctors office about my neck pain and they texted me holy shit please go to urgent care we're telling urgent care we told you to go it'll be fine and when i went to urgent care they had NOT been given a note but i was too painful and confused to like, figure that out, and the whole visit was like. all i said was im in pain. why are you being mean to me??? the whole time she was mean to me because she was fucking paranoid i was an evil plot to steal opiates because she didn't like my story and i hadnt showered in like 2 weeks. which i should have been more prepared for knowing that thats how ems always is and always has been, except for when ive come with a doctor's note, which i was supposed to have, and when she finally decided to prescribe me a muscle relaxer she said "this is a good drug low side effects. look at me. it has NO STREET VALUE. okay?" i was just like okay i don't know why you said that but i don't want street value i want to stop hurting but thank you ill keep it in mind i appreciate it
#she was also mad because the way i said it the intake nurse thought i said i had been in a major trauma like a car crash which i didn't#she didn't get the note because they were migrating systems but she could access my medical history fine so i didn't even think of it

hot-ish take
many disabilities would still be disabilities in a non-ableist society—especially physical disabilities.
our chronic pain would still be an issue if it were properly accommodated, because we are still in pain. even if we have support, that support can only go so far. a cane will not alleviate all of our pain, it just helps to make it less of an issue.
we, being autistic and medium support needs, would still have restrictive food preferences and low pain tolerance in a non-ableist society. those are debilitating; our safe foods are unhealthy and worsen our physical pain, and we cannot avoid injury.
we are likely narcoleptic as well, and this means that we miss a lot. in class, in work, literally everywhere. sleep attacks and fainting episodes are unavoidable and completely random for us. this hinders our learning, our ability to get places, everything. whether or not society is ableist doesn’t change that. sometimes, we will have a sleep attack on the bus and miss our stop. that disabled us in and of itself.
we also have DID, and our experience of it includes painful switches, frequent blackout amnesia, and frequent splitting. this is terrifying, frustrating, and debilitating regardless of the situation. i love and care for my alters, but i do not love having DID because it stops me from getting so much done.
even in a non-ableist, perfect society, we would be disabled.
