rare indeed - anon, if you're in a system, please consider writing this/encouraging friends to! there is a massive dearth of even non-canonically plural work out there.

below, i'm going to recommend some books that contend with multiplicity and plurality in a meaningful way, though honestly, apart from extremely harmful depictions of "multiple personality disorder" etc., I'm struggling to recall any book that explicitly 1) id's characters as plural and 2) does so in a positive/non-shitty way.

Overall, I wish I could recommend more - or any - books with plural characters/narrators that were just...banal? Slice-of-life? Not purposefully trying to be a "mindfuck"? Don't get me wrong, I'm a mindfucky writer and reader. But I'd like to see books featuring systems with everyday problems, not trying to use plurality to make some grand genre-bending statement. So far, I haven't found anything (my own work included) that does this, but really hope that changes soon.

finished reading piranesi. LOVED IT. 10/10. its a short(er?) book about a man called piranesi, stuck in an otherworldly place filled with labyrinthian hallways and statues. hes a very delightful character and you have to walk with his diary entries for a while before new events and revelations change him. the story is written in an epistolary journal form with a strong character voice, and it reveals more of the world + its characters and twists with satisfying pacing. it reminds me of the "born yesterday" concept of appreciating daily things with wonder and gratitude, which can be comforting if youre into that. the latter half of this book is also extremely plural (@/mosstrades told me this and i thought "oh thats nice!" then i got to the last part of the book and i thought oh jesus fuck this really is plural). youll like this book if you like nona from nona the ninth and possibly, poetry

These authors have given this phenomenal content for free, baked with time and effort. I have never once ignored this, hence why I try and comment on each and every one of these fics. However, my energy and ability to be verbose differs day to day. Some of these fics I have not given proper comments for, despite this, I will be on it the moment I can be.
