Sexism in TOS: Worst Offender, or Progressive in Retrospect in Comparison?
I see a lot of folks claim that TOS was the most sexist of the Star Trek shows by a landslide -- and while I agree that it definitely suffered from the sexism of the times, I also have other perspectives to share to give some food for thought.
I am of course not insinuating that TOS isn't sexist -- it is, but I have to ask folks to consider the breadth and depth of Berman's sexism in his run and ask yourself: Was Gene Roddenberry genuinely more sexist in his storytelling and delivery than Rick Berman?
I'm not telling you to feel one way or the other, but all I ask is that you hear me out and consider some perspectives and make your own balanced assessments. Nobody is obligated to share my opinion, but it means a lot just to have folks hear it and see their thoughts on the subject. So here is what I was originally responding to:
Someone's response to this photo:
"Devil's advocate. This was a part of the popular form of cardio during the production time of TNG. Yes, it was heavily sexualised by men, but so is literally every other way women work out. Men have been caught taking pictures of women while trying to do dead lifts, running on tracks and working on sled machines. They post them online to share too. The fact is, there is no way a woman can be shown working out without it going there. And yeah,t hat includes the combat forms of workout they do in Star Trek. Just look at how Dax dresses when she spars with Worf. Yes, they're dating, but still, same goes when 7 does and any other female.
Aerobics routines like this were made dirty and cringy. This was what women wore then by and large. This is how the workout was done. We make it cringy."
My response to them:
"I respect your take, but I disagree on a few fronts.
The miniskirt was chosen by the TOS female cast, not the male cast, specifically requested by Grace LW and affirmed by Nichelle and Majel who would go on to vehemently defend the miniskirt over the years as comfortable and embraced by them.
Grace said it was comfortable and seen as a symbol of female sexual empowerment during the 60s and thought it would be a progressive garment (and turns out that it was, as it was later adapted and worn by male crew as a skant on TNG) -- FYI those were designed by a gay man and Gene approved them.
This was also supposed to be Spock's TMP outfit:
Literally lingerie.
We saw both Uhura (who saves Kirk in from Marlena Mirror Mirror) and Yeoman Landon (the first to initiate combat with a classic Kirk-esque kick to help the Captain being attacked in The Apple) carry out their combat training in their Starfleet uniforms without ever being made to change into any ridiculous workout gear.
In fact, I'd argue Jim Kirk was sexualized even more than the ladies of the week on the show and I saw his naked body more than anyone else's on a fairly regular basis. He wore red yoga tights while topless in Charlie X while the women wore full length gymnastic suits that covered their entire body. If anything, it went out of its way to avoid sexualizing women practicing fitness in those scenes and instead focused on Kirk.
Gene confessed that he asked to have Shatner filmed in suggestive/provocative ways to "give something to the ladies", so he -- as he said -- liked to "film him walking away" or have him conveniently busting out of his shirts in just about every episode as it were, because Shatner apparently had great assets. LOL
Gene made an effort to at least sexualize both if he was going to sexualize one, and he carried that attitude forward in wanting the m/m and f/f scenes in the background on Risa for TNG. He also insisted that the men and women wear skimpy outfits on THAT TNG planet. You know the one. LOL I mean the dudes even had on less than the women:
Gene also gave permission to K/S shippers to have their conventions back in the 70s when he was asked for permission. Gene and Nimoy felt with all the skimpy outfits they had the ladies wear, why not let the ladies and gay men have their fun, too? It's how we ended up with moments like this:
Yes, those are two people dressed up as Kirk and Spock's penises doing interpretive dance. Gene didn't give two damns. LOL
In my eyes, that was a very progressive take on Gene's part for the 60s. It was actually PARAMOUNT STUDIOS who had the big problem with K/S stories and vehemently tried to shut them down. Gene literally hired slash authors on his payroll and even had several slash stories/writers published in his official Star Trek books (The New Voyages & The New Voyages II).
I feel I saw Uhura and women in TOS engaged in more physical combat/altercations defending themselves that Troi or Bev were shown holding their own.
In fact, Kirk used to get furious when someone would "dress up" his female crew members without their consent (Trelane episode, Shore Leave episode) because like his male crew members, he wanted them to be treated professionally and to also have his male crew act professionally.

Berman brought some of his own personal biases into Star Trek that in some ways regressed it. While TOS had blatant sexism and was called on it time and again, that show was made in the 60s -- a solid 21 years before TNG. We as a modern audience understood why some of it was cringe/sexist due to the time period -- look at any other media coming out in the 60s and Star Trek was miles ahead of what other shows were doing.
Compare that to Berman who was churning sexist stuff out when women like Starbuck and Scully were simultaneously on screen on other programs airing, and we had already had Sigourney Weaver and other strong women in Holywood playing respectful roles.
In my eyes, there was no need of the sexism seen in TNG but especially VOY and ENT. There was no excuse for it when other shows were writing women far better and a number of those weren't even set in the future like Trek was, making it age even faster due to having those dated perspectives frequently highlighted.
In the Center Seat documentary as well as "The Fifty Year Mission" book you will find cast members, writers and other studio alumni who attest to this. Some discussions from "The Fifty Year Mission":
"First, Berman was supposed to have been a real sleaze ball . . . According to Terry Farrel, he would go on constantly about how her breasts weren't big enough, how she should do something about it, and how his secretary was a good example to follow as she had huge breasts. She even had to have fittings to get larger bras, and that was all done at his behest.
Later Berman and Braga developed a name for Jeri Ryan's character prior Seven of Nine. They originally called the character "perineum" which if you look it up it is the area between the anus and the scrotum. Later they floated the name "6 of 9". I mean, what does it tell you about where these two were coming from in the development of this character if they had names like that put forward in all seriousness for her?"
Gene Roddenberry also had some of his own more progressive ideas for TNG cut or watered down by Berman. Roddenberry agreed TNG should have homosexual relationships and representation at a con in the 80s and insisted on it in a meeting with his writers -- something Berman later would not honor. Gene wanted the AIDS episode, showing m/m and f/f in the Riza scenes -- these were some of Roddenberry's requests to include in TNG that Berman later stonewalled.
Berman's era was sadly dated by his own misogynist bias, IMO, to the point that it can somewhat hurt the shows he worked on through his cringe egoism and blatant disrespect toward his female cast.
There is a reason why Gene could keep female actresses working with him and Berman had a revolving door of women that he couldn't seem to keep working for him -- he was abhorrent to women, on and off set. Gene wasn't perfect at all, he had a lot of issues himself -- but Berman was a whole other level. Just look at what he did to poor Jolene Blalock, Marina Sirtis and his toxic commenting on her body weight which exacerbated her struggles with eating disorders, or how he treated and talked to Terry Farrell.
Anyway, just some food for thought. I'm not saying anyone is wrong regarding a take like that, but there are a variety of ways to look at this. Gene Roddenberry isn't a saint by any means, but it definitely bothers me how folks will tote the Berman era as if it were the lesser of two evils or the more progressive depiction of women when I felt there were far more concerning portrayals of women in his era with far less justification.
(P.S: I don't event want to go near the sheer amount of "creepy old dude/villain preys on innocent/naïve/scared young woman or little girl" stories there were in Berman's era, either. But that's a whole other can of worms I can write about in a part 2.)

Found out about you and your chaggie art on twt and decided to check out more of it on here! I’ve heard about hazbins hotel before and have seen the pair and fanart of them but haven’t made the decision to watch the show.
Wanted to ask from your perspective, what is it about chaggie that you like? Could be anything about their relationship dynamics, wtv representation that they portray, anything! Should I watch hazbins hotel for them 🤔
Gosh! What do I love about them??
Oh man, welll... On a surface level? The dynamics they display are just so delicious to me, and I especially love that it's always a little subverted with them, yunno? It's angelXdemon, but the demon is the precious sunshine while the angel is the grump with a body count. The princessXknight dynamic they display is subverted too because although Charlie is the one born in the worst realm in Creation, she's still the privileged princess, meanwhile even though Vaggie is the one who came from literal paradise, she's the one who lived a life that wasn't exactly luxurious. They just present dynamics I've already always loved but with a fun little twist.
But on a deeper level, I think I love Chaggie because they're already so far along in their relationship, and you can see it in how comfortable they are with each other, which was such a surprise for me. You see, I'm not very good at fixating on ships when they're already canon. Like, I'd think it's cute, but I wouldn't be itching to find fics about them. And if a ship I've liked finally gets together, I actually... usually... Kinda sorta love the ship a little less... I'd still like them! I just wont be as giddy about them.
But omg Chaggie still manages to give me butterflies, and I think it's because they're way past the honeymoon phase, something that I barely see represented for sapphic couples who are such important characters in a story. Lotsa people didnt like how it wasn't initially obvious that they were a couple, but I actually really loved how the writers and animators showed how deep their bond is without having them making out ang grope each other all the time. God if they were like that, it'd probably give me the ick.
It was just lowkey, because they've been together for years. Charlie would casually rest her arm on Vaggie's thigh and Vaggie isn't flustered because it's probably a habit of Charlie's by now. Vaggie would tuck Charlie's hair out of her face while she's worried about something and it isn't framed as a special thing, but you can tell by how Vaggie looks at Charlie that it wasn't done with any less love than it did over the years. And when Charlie's stressed about a phone call, Vaggie wordlessly offers her hand and Charlie takes it with a quick appreciative smile before holding on tight and bouncing their joined hands up and down like it's a stress reliever.

Their interactions weren't uber sweet with heated physicality, but the show had them display familiarity and comfort instead. And idk i just love that. I love that you can clearly tell they're best friends. Like, the very first scene they appear in for the Pilot, Vaggie is tying Charlie's bowtie for her while Charlie stares at her with a smile on her face. So cute...
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bc801c79f5b4f8e45996423fd1942798/0604a8cc67a469c9-a4/s540x810/18ce51ced7a00316664feda51e1f595fde8c4216.jpg)
Also. I just think both of them are hot lmao
So. Do I think you should watch the show for Chaggie? Idrk. I personally watched for them, but I came into the show expecting not to get much shipping fuel bcuz they were already in a relationship in a show that has a whole dang lot more going on in it. So some people who wanted to get into the ship expecting maybe a lotta smooching felt unsatisfied. But honestly, what did they expect from a 8 ep season that only had a run time of 22 mins per episode, in a show that wasn't even a romance? 😭 I personally thought we got a decent amount without taking away from the actual plot.
I think you should try to watch with the mindset of just having plain ol fun. Try the first 2 episodes, which is only 40 mins of your day. If it doesn't jive with you, that's totally fine. But pls do check out the songs if you dont like the show. The songs are so good. My favorite song from the season has plot stuff, but this one is my second favorite
youtube
And since we're talking about Chaggie, here's the reprise of that song sung by them. It's short, but they promised more chaggie songs will be in season 2 so im not too sad about it. Charlie and Vaggie's VA harmonizing is just beautiful.
youtube
Edit: for those who saw this post when i accidentally prematurely posted it before adding the links and photos, no you didn't 😐

i feel like that clip gets worse the more i think about it. like;
1. why does charlie treat baxter like a replacement for sir pentious? why is she treating one of the only patrons she had a connection to (at least a hell of a lot more of a connection then she has with angel,) as if hes easily replaceable? like, i know its supposed to be funny because they roughly fit the same trope of "wacky evil guy who makes evil stuff", and it IS funny.. when i dont actually think of the implication of how charlie is treating sir pentious in memory through the way she talks about him after he was killed right in front of her. its like they thought about how funny the joke would be before they thought about charlie and sir pentious's relationship in s1, and just went with that so they wouldn't have to write charlie acting any different. which sucks, because charlie legitimately mourning him would be a GREAT conflict for the main character to have in s2. tbh they still might do that so they can have their cake and eat it too, but i dont know if itll feel sincere after that scene with her and baxter.
2. does she know sir pentious is alive in heaven? how could she know? nothing about the way she speaks in the clip makes me think so, but at least if she knew he was actually okay and redeemed, you'd resolve the issue of her trying to replace some guy who died defending HER hotel with his life, and the issue of her having no reason to redeem sinners after learning heaven is corrupt and seemingly wont let in even the sinners in that deserve redemption. because replacing someone in a cast whos technically still living in heaven isnt nearly as bad, and his existence alone would probably be proof enough alone to motivate charlie to keep trying to redeem sinners, which would be especially satisfying after her faith in heaven would understandably be broken after the trial and the extermination coming right to her hotels front door. so knowing that, this is probably whats NOT going to happen
3. why is she specifically even trying to replace sir pentious anyway? is it a coping mechanism after her loss of him? its obviously comedic so we're not supposed to take it seriously, which means the writers probably wanted to make a joke about how obviously baxter is going to be the replacement for sir pentious's role at the hotel, god i wish we had seen them interact together at a voxtech con in a competition like in vivs old post pilot series pitch in 2019 but i'd argue its a joke at the expense of charlies character development. the way she acts in that clip is something i'd expect from s1 charlie, but not s2 after everything that happened to her.
i think s1 had the issue in general of making things funny or fun over making them make sense for the characters in context, so its not surprising to see that issue happen again. it's just slightly more infuriating when you remember hazbin was supposed to be the serious show compared to helluva, but now hazbin has way too many mean spirited or dumb jokes at the expense of its own characters youre supposed to automatically care about, just for comedys sake, and helluva became the soap drama nobody asked for.
Absolutely! I side stepped my own opinions as I genuinely wanted to see what others had to say, and @tommycorriander pretty much hit that nail on the head for my interpretation of the narrative. The biggest issue is how the first season elected to prioritize things happening over their characters and their relationships. We never actually see the cast grow close over the season, we are simply told that's what happened.
But by mixing together Pentious and Baxter, my first inclination was that, yes, outside of superficial characteristics, Charlie cannot connect to sinners. They are all the same to her, and based on her character being so broad and general in her appraisal of Sinners, it definitely feels like she doesn't see them as individuals.
And the travesty is that if the show actually went in that direction, I would eagerly welcome it. I would love to see some self-awareness from the writers and a character with a legitimate flaw of personality; not just "she made a mistake, but her heart is in the right place" contrivances that have riddled all of Medrano's work. I would love to see that story of Charlie being forced to change as a person, and I would probably love Charlie as a character as well if the show went this route. Instead, good characters just do bad things but with good intentions. Instead of good people actually being complicated creatures with some genuine flaws of character that they are always working to mitigate and be better.
Characters who are working to be good people feel like good people. Those that just act good with no effort feel conniving or disconnected and apathetic. They feel fake and vapid. Having it be a genuine effort would do so much in giving Charlie some ounce of depth.

So, Woman of the Hour. What a film. It is rare that I come across a movie that means so much to me. This movie is the female experience. Unfortunately, I do not think many men will understand the movie at all.
Spoilers ahead! (and trigger warnings)
My review is probably very controversial when it really shouldn't be.
I know it's not entirely factual, if you want factual, watch something else. Woman of the Hour takes the story and uses it to tell a different story. One of women and the way we are treated. And no, I don't think it's a criticism on old-Hollywood, I think it's a criticism on then and now and everything in between. Because I watched this movie and I felt seen as a woman in 2024. I have never experienced old-Hollywood. I have experienced this movie.
People (mostly men) are constantly touching the women in this movie and invading their space, whether it be physical closeness or lingering in their homes. The women are discouraged from being themselves, taking up space, having opinions, etc. And they are always being violated in these little ways that add up to a lifetime of discomfort. And that's the truth of the female experience is that we rarely get to be comfortable.
The question, "what are women for?" really made me think because I don't know how I'd answer it. I don't think women are "for" anything. We are just people who determine the purpose for our existence like anyone else. But I think it was an excellent question to ask men in a movie about women. And I think realistically, a lot of men would have a hard time answering this in a way that isn't horrible. A lot of men do think that women are "for" something, probably "for" them, and it shows.
The question, "will he hurt me?" is VERY important and is a question every woman asks herself constantly. Charlie the stewardess doesn't know but needs help and ends up being hurt by him. She probably thought that at worst he would grope her, not kill her. Women are responsible for their own safety and are always to blame when someone chooses to hurt them. She shouldn't have worn that. She shouldn't have gone there. She should have known. Even though he chose to hurt her. It's her fault.
The scene where Amy wakes up from being brutally raped and must ask the man who hurt her if he is okay? I felt that so deeply. I know what it is like to be the victim and have to comfort the perpetrator. To know that I will not survive if I do not protect a man from his own actions. I knew what Amy would say because I have said it. Because it is the only thing she could say. Women are strong and smart and they need to be. Just in a way that isn't obvious. We have to be strong enough to hold the feelings of our abusers, reassure and comfort them, convince them that we believe it was our fault, that we don't think less of them. We have to be very smart to navigate the fragile ego in very dangerous moments, when the wrong move with a volatile man could be the end.
The violence of this story was very respectful to the victims. I really appreciated a true crime story that didn't play for entertainment because true crime is not entertaining. True crime is educational to a woman, I have learned what not to do in many situations, but mostly I have learned that there isn't much I *can* do when it really comes down to it. If someone wants to hurt me, they will find a way. And I will lock my doors and yell fire and use the buddy system, but it won't matter because I am not safe and I never was. But it will be my fault.
#i will not give the killer a name because he does not deserve one#the victims names are all that should be remembered#woman of the hour#woman of the hour spoilers#spoilers#tw sa mention#tw rape#tw murder#female experience#movies#movie review

I have now finally seen the Mario movie. It was Pretty Good. Here are my wordy thoughts on it. (I am going to spoil the entire movie. Duh.)
In many ways, the Mario movie does what I wish the first Sonic movie had done. They just took the characters and the premise and the world from the games, and made it a straightforward animated adventure movie. It's bright and colorful and remixes things JUST enough to include fun elements from multiple games, and it doesn't make Mario get adopted by James Marsden or whatever. It even has the music!
That's all you really need, right? Right...?
I'll get this out of the way up front. Chris Pratt was fine. He's fine
If anything, it really feels like they did the movie a disservice by letting us hear so little of the Mario voice in the previews. It took one scene for Pratt to disappear into the role for me. It was totally fine. If anything, I found Charlie Day's normal voice coming out of Luigi WAY more distracting, even if I did like him in the role.
Everyone else was pretty good, for the most part. Jack Black was obviously very good as Bowser, but I'm biased. Seth Rogen does the Seth Rogen laughs as Donkey Kong, but I thought DK was fun, too. (I liked his little rivalry with Mario where he was just constantly giving him shit.) The only casting choice I truly hated was Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong. I hated every line that came out of his mouth. He sounds atrocious. Just the worst. I swear to fucking god if they do a DKC movie and we have to hear him for 90 minutes
I did think Peach was lacking, but that was on the script, not Anya Taylor-Joy's performance. It's cool to see Peach fight, but it's one of those all too common instances where the writers put so much effort into making the main girl kick ass and be an effortlessly confident girlboss that they forgot to give her an actual personality. Not that I'd point to Super Princess Peach and its mood swing superpowers as positive representation or anything, but there's a happy middle ground, surely. Shrek was 22 years ago, just having the princess do flying kung fu kicks isn't enough.
Okay. With the voices out of the way, let's talk about the big picture:
It's way better than the words "Illumination Mario movie" implied, and I mostly enjoyed my time with it. The spirit of Mario is there 100%. But I'd also describe it as "ruthlessly efficient."
This was perhaps the main complaint critics had, and they were absolutely right. People have responded to these totally average reviews with "Well, what did you expect? Shakespeare?! It's MARIO!!" Like, yes, I would prefer it if the movie I paid to see had writing that was good instead of bad. What a shocker. My issue isn't that it's not "high-brow" enough. The problem is that it feels mercenary. It feels like an editor went through and deleted almost every line of dialogue that isn't some form of exposition, at the expense of the pacing. Any scene that's not a montage or some sort of action is kept as short as they could make it, with barely any room for embellishment, character interaction, or anything other than the bare minimum word count to hit all the typical Save the Cat Hollywood screenwriting 101 story beats to the letter. There aren't even as many jokes as you might think (and the ones that are there are extremely hit or miss, including a lot of the slapstick with Mario himself).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1a883e88b4c7020f814ad5e15d33cbcd/a9fafcf5406f0849-b3/s540x810/4fd2de7f92dfe992691276aa61f5dd091bc13662.jpg)
Mario and Peach's little arc together in the front half of the film is probably the worst example of this pacing. Even having read reviews that complained about how fast Peach goes from meeting Mario (by her admission the first other human she's ever met) to deciding to train him as the new savior of the Mushroom Kingdom, I was SHOCKED at how fast it was. They don't even lampshade it.
Peach takes Mario straight into the big training sequence where he learns how to use mushrooms and jump over platforming obstacles. Peach is apparently already a hypercompetent platforming pro and a great fighter, so there's no clear reason why she's taking the time to train this random guy to be half as good as her when the world is in danger. Then they set off on their adventure, Toad joins them, and we get a VERY brief travel montage. It's about thirty seconds total - just long enough to give Peach a line about how she wants to protect this beautiful world of hers to try and give her some stakes. We get the genre-mandated nighttime campfire heart to heart, which is exactly long enough to have Mario say he misses Luigi and to have Peach give the two sentence summary of her origin story and not a second longer. Then they reach the Kongs, and their big journey is complete. (They barely interact for the rest of the movie.) So much of the movie is like this - always ready to get on to the next scene as soon as a new one starts.
I'm not criticizing the script because I expect The Super Mario Bros. Movie to be a prestige drama - although there are certainly halfhearted attempts at a dramatic arc. The stuff with Mario's family was a fun enough idea, but again, ruthless efficiency. We get one quick scene with them at the start to give Mario some pathos, because I guess Save the Cat said he's gotta have some pathos. And then Mario gets his dad's approval amidst the action of the final battle in Brooklyn to resolve his arc, just so the movie can end as quickly as possible once Bowser is defeated. (Despite now having the approval of their family and their community back in Brooklyn, Mario and Luigi move to the Mushroom Kingdom off-screen without a single word dedicated to this decision, because that's where they live in the games.)
Look. I am not comparing it to The Godfather. Don't give me that shit. I am not asking for an extra half hour to explore Mario and Luigi's childhood trauma. I am not asking for the complex inner workings of the Mushroom Kingdom monarchy. I know this is gonna be a basic Hero's Journey adventure for kids. It just feels like it's turning down so many opportunities to have a little fun with the characters, to let them interact and play off of each other, to let there be some adventure on this adventure. This is the first time we've gotten to see these characters interact with fully voiced dialogue in a very, very long time! "Yeah, it's not High Art, but it's FUN!" Stories are fun! Character interactions are fun! The script could be having so much more fun!! It is adamantly against making the Story parts of this story-driven movie any more Fun than they functionally need to be!!!
Mario, Peach, and Toad's journey to find the Kongs is shorter than the training montage that precedes it. After the opening, Bowser mostly just sits in his castle and waits for the third act to start. Luigi's there, too, but he only gets one scene with Bowser and then the movie mostly forgets he exists until the climax. He doesn't even get to try and sneak out of Bowser's castle and get up to hijinx. He's just there to be a motivation for Mario, so he sits in a cage for half the movie. It's the bare outline of a script with action scenes added in.
Aside from the fact that it's Jack Black singing as Bowser, I feel like this overly-efficient script might be part of the reason why the "Peaches" scene stands out so much. It's a moment that didn't strictly need to be there to keep the plot moving or to provide an action setpiece. It's not even a reference to another Mario thing. It's just a fun and memorable little character moment that's there for its own sake. That's what the movie needed more of. To stop and smell the roses more often. To play in the space.
To be clear, this isn't a unique problem with this movie. Critics have been noting for years that second acts are disappearing from big Hollywood movies in favor of the Act I plot setup and the Act III action, even though Act II is supposed to be where you get to explore your actual premise. And lots of animated movies give me this exact same vibe of being too "screenwriterly," or feeling like they had an executive breathing down their necks and demanding changes based on focus testing. But these common issues are why I come away mostly feeling like the movie is on the better end of "average," rather than totally blowing my mind. You have seen this movie many times before, just not with Mario in it.
And, of course, there's the music. The score by Brian Tyler based on various classic Mario and Donkey Kong tunes (frustratingly all attributed to Koji Kondo) is absolutely beautiful, but it's unfortunately frequently overshadowed by the licensed music. Everyone already complained about things like the use of Take On Me in place of a lovingly arranged DKC medley, but it feels illustrative of the tug of war the movie is caught in the middle of, between wanting to be a lavishly faithful Mario movie and wanting to be a generic tentpole animated adventure movie. Every single licensed song used is the most obvious, overused song they could have picked for the scene. It reeks of cynical executive meddling and it took me out of the movie every time.
But there really was a lot of care and love put into this movie - more than probably any other video game movie ever made, not that that's a high bar. I don't want to underplay that too much amidst all my complaints spurred by the absolutely insane response to the reviews.
Aside from the countless background references that people will be picking apart for years, touches like the Captain Toad tune playing in the background of Toad's introduction or the Mario Kart 8 menu music playing in the kart garage really help bring it to another level of authenticity. I also enjoyed seeing some more obscure Mario enemies that felt like they were picked more for being fun to animate than for being nostalgic and marketable. No matter how many times I sarcastically pointed to the screen and deadpanned "reference. reference." I am not immune to noticing these things and smiling. I am not immune to the DK Rap. These alone don't make the movie good, but it's nice to have a video game movie that feels like it was made by people who like video games.
Most importantly, the animation is great throughout. It's leaps and bounds ahead of other Illumination work, and it's the best the Mario cast has ever looked. They even made Donkey Kong handsome, somehow. They're all so squishy and expressive, and they move so fluidly - especially in the action scenes. I particularly liked the more kinetic ones like the aerial Banzai Bill chase and the Mario Kart sequence. Truly, the Mad Max-inspired car battle on Rainbow Road where Mario literally does the speedrun shortcut is this movie firing on all cylinders.
Other, more hand-to-hand fights nail the Popeye-esque vibe Mario should be going for. He's an underdog who gets the shit kicked out of him by bigger, stronger opponents until he gets his signature powerup and turns the tables on them. My favorite animation of all probably came from the use of Cat Mario to turn the tide in the DK fight. They had so much fun making Mario move like a cat. Again, it feels like a choice made because it'd be fun to animate rather than just a nostalgia move.
It's that animation and that attention to detail that carry the film, really. They elevate it from mediocrity into being a fun watch for a fan like me, albeit one I couldn't help but pick apart with Anthony as we watched it at home. I'm glad I saw it, but there's a lot of room to improve with the inevitable sequel. I hope they do. I can't deny that I had fun with the movie, but I hope next time that fun is partially because of the script instead of in spite of it.
Stray thoughts:
Overall, I would say I enjoyed the movie a lot more than Sonic 1, but probably not as much as Sonic 2. Not that these movies need to be pitted against each other.
I hated the Luma. I hated how hilarious they clearly thought the Luma was. They have the fucking Luma break the fourth wall to end the movie and start the credits. This is going to be a deep cut for fans of bad animated films, but the whole time I was just thinking of the little fish from Romeo & Juliet: Sealed With A Kiss who's just the director's kid saying random nonsense. You know I'm right
I rolled my eyes at the "our princess is in another castle" joke and several other jokes that would have been dated in a gamer webcomic 20 years ago but I guess they had to be there
How much of Brooklyn did Bowser's giant floating castle take out? We know 9/11 happened in this universe because the Freedom Tower is there, hasn't New York been through enough
I can't believe there's a Diskun easter egg
The dog is the most Illumination character design in the movie. It felt like it wandered on set from The Secret Life of Pets
Mario being a gamer and playing Kid Icarus of all things just made me remember this tweet:
Yes Anthony did get mad at me for being thirsty for Bowser

From what I’ve seen our fellow Saurondriel shippers never believed they would actually be a kiss between Galadriel and Sauron, and many say they don’t even need one. But having Galadriel kiss Elrond instead is so bad and so insulting, especially after Amazon official social media accounts has been sharing Saurondriel content and they even opened S2 promos with Haladriel stuff. I don’t get it? Are they trolling us?
I'm trying to see the bright side of the situation, and I guess I'm glad it wasn't Saurondriel that they made a mockery of by turning it into shock value cannon fodder? I guess that's a plus?
Like, I don't have any emotional attachment to Galadriel/Elrond as a ship, and I do really like their friendship but it's not a central factor of the show for me. And if I'm this pissed at them treating that relationship with disrespect, I can't imagine how enraged and heartbroken I'd be if they had treated Saurondriel like that.
Like, I feel terrible for Morfydd and Rob to have had their characters insulted like that by the writers/creators/whoever's decision that scene was. But if they had subjected Charlie to that after all the amazing character building and work they've done with Sauron this season, I don't know what I would have done. I might very well have given up on the show entirely.
I don't want a Saurondriel kiss just for the sake of seeing their lips touch. If the show can't do it with respect and to serve a purpose in the story for the narrative, the characters, and/or the themes, I'd much rather never see a Saurondriel kiss at all.
Right now, I feel squicky about watching any scenes with Galadriel and Elrond in it together now. It would have broken my heart to end up feeling that way about the Galadriel and Halbrand scenes in S1.
I am legitimately afraid now that they might try to pull something like that with Saurondriel down the road though. And to be entirely honest, that fear has sucked me dry of any joy in shipping them for the time being. Which really sucks because I had just really started enjoying the idea of shipping them to begin with. But I sat down yesterday to try to start writing an idea I've had for my first Saurondriel fic and I just didn't have the heart to do it.
For as crazy a ship as it is, the writers of the show have treated Saurondriel with dignity and respect. And I would truly hope that if they ever decided to go there with a kiss that it would be treated with dignity and respect. The fear that they might turn it into a mockery wasn't something that had even entered my thoughts until yesterday. But I just don't know now.

I Watched The First Two Episodes of Hazbin Hotel
Overall I wasn't bored. It's a fun show from the little I've seen. I have thoughts and notes I'd like to give so here's how this is gonna go:
🔵 Is for things I liked/would like to be expanded upon in the show's future.
🔴 Is for things I disliked ranging from nitpicks and just general critisisms.
Whenever something about Angel Dust's trauma I will come up, I'll mark "————" at the beginning & ending so you can avoid the topic if you'd like.
So let's dive right in!<3
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/87b26e58703acdd12bf2bc3ed7f72439/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-4d/s540x810/ee71983a9c0128279ed53517a64a7054beb530a5.jpg)
🔴 I am so confused. This is narrarated by Charlie. And her goal is to redeem sinners so they can enter Heaven to save their lives. But she also knows that Heaven doesn't kill sinners to stop over-population, it's just plain evil. So, what are we doing here again?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3969fb2b6679faad18d44c694f55219e/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-bd/s540x810/4ce2ed584f62aadb0d7f7a8b183767110a673d6c.jpg)
🔴 This is the first time her relationship with her father is mentioned in the show. And it's done though a joke made by Alastor in a commercial he made. (Also, how would he know about Charlie's "daddy issues"? This isn't common knowledge as far as I know).
————
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8007bd4852106da20814205d1e64eaa8/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-d2/s540x810/886d800f6d6e0a2c97ec9a6ccfc60ecdc46308bb.jpg)
🔴 WHAT THE FUCK? I'M SORRY. WHAT THE FUCK? I hate being this negative in the beginning but WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I don't want to discuss this line any more than the shock I felt while hearing it. Next.
————
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6d35fa7971af87c7839b012b8ea39922/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-66/s540x810/f4046e81e876759e2688c0c5a1c607d1a2032b65.jpg)
🔴 Everyone already talked about how the camera work is crap and I agree. But here's an idea: If they wanted to make something grandiose, why not make a classic musical number that's completely unrealistic, and then make the reality of Hell clash with it?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6cc2516760a8379ee1f1a372b6582c45/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-93/s540x810/548e18ab4cb2930fa97751da25a49071d05eb702.jpg)
🔴 This scene could be cut off mostly entirely. The point here is to show how awful Adam is, and the second the talking's over, we get a better song that does just that.
🔵 At first I was gonna make this a critisism, but all it did was making me ask questions, which is good in a first episode. This has me wondering about the characterization of Heaven and how it came to be. I can accept them being a shitty bureaucracy who only appear good, but this is some Saturday Morning Cartoon villian stuff. I'm very curious about this.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5fb437b1bc46005c29cc3ec8ce8dedde/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-1f/s540x810/acbf25925b3e4a58f962ad2eed837bb205a0431b.jpg)
🔵 Niffty couldn't say her lines and just stared at the camera and was completely unaware of the fact that she did a shitty job. How come? I wonder what they'll do with it.
🔴 This is edited. The scene didn't go like this. We cut from the hotel to the Vees before we see Alastor's counter-attack. They cut to a really long section of the episode, in the middle of something that could be dealt with in a second. I wasn't as invested as I could have been in the introduction of the Vees, because I kept waiting to come back to Alastor.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/56cd4fd68ff5fa8ff8e047b46f105b87/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-47/s540x810/0b3091bc02993356874b36664ae5971e350da3a7.jpg)
🔵 I'd like to know why Charlie is so naive. Optimistic? Yeah, makes sense. But naive? Now that's interesting to know. She clearly goes outside and sees how sinners aren't the safest people (ie Happy Day in Hell), so you think that spending eternity with them would get her acquainted with the culture and make her adjust her behaviors. But she's still looking at the guy who just tried to kill her and goes "Oh, hello again". I'm dying to know why she's like that.
————
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9577dcab4d87b3c64e5f9f2bee20c7e3/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-f9/s540x810/ad0ae66143fe1fd5671071916598390f59f3ccab.jpg)
🔵 I see where this is going<3 Despite it all, Angel Dust clearly still loves acting. So when he'll escape Val, he'll show his theatrical side by improvising and acting for Charlie<3
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bfdc88bce802818d06c7969819da58ba/b9f3943ae0b7a4ff-e3/s540x810/c3367c64bd4dcfd949fdea0dfd8b14146ff81ed1.jpg)
🔵 Despite Angel Dust not adoring the hotel, it's very much a safe place for him. A safe the Vees, from Valentino. Now, someone who worked for them just a second before getting discovered, is in. Can't wait to see more of this.
————
🔵 I liked the rivalry of Alastor and Vox. I liked how Vox is this perfect big shot, yet crumbles about Alastor when he's barely trying. Definitely a highlight.
To Summarize...
🔴 6 negatives 🔵 6 positives
I enjoyed myself a fair bit. Most of the negatives are either nitpicks or won't matter in five eps. It had some flaws but it's a start.

Lost S2 Rewatch - spontaneous, random thoughts (might change my mind)
Kinda dig Ana Lucia. I remember that, back when the show first aired, I didn't like her but I guess I've changed my mind. I like the fact that she seems to be unapologetic, she's leader-material and she knows it and acts as such but she's not smug about it. She does bad things, she knows it and doesn't hide behind excuses. Honestly? So far she's cool.
The introduction of the Tailies was a ballsy move, we haven't seen our fearless leader Jack for 6 episodes now (I've reached S2E7) and the show is still compelling and exciting. We meet five new characters and their introductions are different from those of the main characters in s1: it's fast, no flashbacks, direct. The comparison works because I find myself wanting to know more even though I wasn't even given enough screen-time to care about them. Ballsy, well-executed professional writing move.
I like how the first 3 episodes are taking place on the same night/day as the last 3 episodes of S1 (or 2 episodes, according to how you're watching "Exodus"). We see the events from different perspectives and this method of storytelling sometimes is very effective, sometimes I personally find it a bit boring. This doesn't happen here at all.
Hurley is such a more interesting character when you rewatch the show! I think that he's the only character (so far) where knowing things in advance makes him better and I'm like "hell, yes, why didn't I see that before?". Like, when I first watched the show I thought that Hurley was the "comic relief" of the series. He kinda is, but he's also not and so much more? Upon rewatching the show you can clearly see why he was the right leader and the best protector of the island. Gotta love The Dude.
I've said it once, I'll say it again (and forever): JUSTICE FOR SHANNON. I'll protect her against anyone. Her centric episode "Abandoned" is okay but I find it very distasteful that her death is framed as manpain fodder for Sayid. Also, she has sex at the beginning of the episode and at the end she dies? Ugh. Again, distasteful, it felt a little like she had completed her function so off we go. My girl deserved so much more :(.
Speaking of Shannon, her relationship with Sayid is meh. I actually liked it 20 years ago but thank god I've definitely changed because it's a badly written ship. I mean, I can see that the two characters have potential, but there's no "meat" behind it. The story is not "built", it's just there. One day Sayid finds her attractive and that's it. The two of them have spent like 1 afternoon together and all of a sudden the guy creates a romantic location on the beach so they can have sex. Shallow. And also, let's never forget that these people are on a fucking island full of things AND people that want to kill them, but okay, let's go beachsex-camping somewhere!
I'm an anti-Charlie. It really costs me a lot to say this because he was my favorite twenty years ago and now I can't stand him. I've reckoned that if I have to spend more time trying to make excuses for him while I actively don't like his actions... well, it's wasted time. Let's call is as it is: Charlie's a dick. That scene after Locke was holding Aaron and Charlie was jelaous or, I'd rather say, unhingedly possessive? Brrr, chills bruh and the wrong kind. Dude, you're cringe.

Hudson and Rex S03E05 - Prescription Rex
How many times can you whump Charlie before you have to whump Rex too?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a9c9e1c6857d927473283bf8279714f3/740ff49fcd5ffc82-88/s540x810/7647e054872afcd241f4204d79a48b04e5101c71.jpg)
This is a corner of the house we don't see often but it's assumed that down those stairs is the bedroom which we'll never see lol
And this is the first time we see the interior of Charlie's new house.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dbf8e98ff1414dd24d2152e1922b67bc/740ff49fcd5ffc82-dc/s540x810/23ea4986bc73a509323ce739d5245a9833e7c2da.jpg)
"Is my dog broken?"
Rex's dramatic sigh is so human!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e09e5981aed884f55f85e02c03401a88/740ff49fcd5ffc82-7a/s540x810/8c62d21f4f2c9b9d4016d6b560e39c7bc0fe7d62.jpg)
I hate it here.
The fact that Jesse says that he knows a woman, and Charlie's first question is, "Does she have a record?" is hilarious.

Sarah: "How close is close?" Jesse: "...Close." Sarah: "Oh. Close." And then she look at Charlie.

Jesse: "Seeing as I already know Dana..." Sarah: "Closely?" Stop it you two, I'm trying to focus on the upcoming whump.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c3790c8982bdfcb1b9e420841ca6588b/740ff49fcd5ffc82-fe/s540x810/f800d4d3e9d79c7d781dd5e1c8f7fb4d7fe58f12.jpg)
Poor baby!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1495f7004a929a85050a7c3006b5db34/740ff49fcd5ffc82-9d/s540x810/c5cddc68c25d3fdf0662d936cc4ab0577907e744.jpg)
I will forever hate the fact that they didn't show anything from the moment Charlie realizes that something's seriously wrong with Rex to the moment where Rex has already been treated for the drugs he accidentally sniffed. This would have been the most angsty moment! And having seen something similar on Kommissar Rex, I know it would have been good.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ac445b4ad371042369376ca89a715447/740ff49fcd5ffc82-0e/s540x810/6f2d7c38c7a6eae26c95ecfb2ccb2c95fd206ef5.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/603558161576cb582129e5499a617119/740ff49fcd5ffc82-43/s540x810/6a8d1f58035f92741d9a839d6a79132ed1ca3360.jpg)
"Are you okay?" "I'm fine." Sure you are.
"Listen, Rex was injured in the line of duty, and I know that he is more than a partner to you. So, it's okay to be worried about him." "I know." Charlie trying to avoid dealing with any kind of feelings and instead choosing to focus on his job is actually very on brand with him. And also sad. And even sadder that this rarely gets acknowledged. The depth of these characters is constantly sacrificed to keep the tone of the show light, so that it can remain "family friendly". It doesn't matter that they slap fifty years' worth of trauma to them if they are seen to shake it off by the end of the episode.
"He suffered a drug overdose." "A what?" My thoughts exactly when I watched it the first time.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b294362d7d36360717da4785738000a2/740ff49fcd5ffc82-8a/s540x810/732056597c3486cfa86c3ba414aa5d624c2d5746.jpg)
"I just had no idea what was going on. I didn't... think to use it". Cue guilt-ridden Charlie. That's the stuff.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7d6e1e35f23c7e6cce7617ecd37a7cd1/740ff49fcd5ffc82-93/s540x810/2a873c1bae1d30760003b9533f1cf2ab354b1a2f.jpg)
"I'm sorry. I should have been more careful. Not gonna happen again, though. I don't know what I'd do without you". While I'm not particularly moved by the scene of Charlie talking to Joe, once he goes in the room with Rex and talks to him, that gets me good. And I think it might have been the point too, to show how Charlie tries to be his normal self when he talks to his boss (yes, Joe is a good friend but he's still his boss), trying to project professionalism and also trying to keep it together, and then once he starts talking to Rex, he falters a bit. The mask slips a little. Subtle things since they think the show wouldn't survive anything else. God forbid an actual meltdown.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e9b26da769c3248928036b7e6db2ff09/740ff49fcd5ffc82-66/s540x810/920957499587a066f715f3ae51189fc564bdb982.jpg)
That's so cute. I forgot to mention that the music is also nice. I think it's the same track that plays when Sarah falls asleep on Charlie in S04E01. How it can possibly fit both scenes... eh, it does, okay? It actually does.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8c26afa2da07176b357cd55726b042b1/740ff49fcd5ffc82-74/s540x810/fdb26f747340fc83db46bafcf8b1573717da82fa.jpg)
I want it to be on record that Sarah seems more worried about Rex than she was about Charlie drowning in the previous episode lol
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cc49c90215f064ab9982c4eaa10c5592/740ff49fcd5ffc82-d6/s540x810/a8afca676630c853ffb705bfb74b16e27b1211e6.jpg)
"I wish Rex was here." "Yeah, me too." Worried parents.
We get to see Sarah's car in this episode.
I think Charlie and Sarah only drunk beers alone before they became a couple, and after they did they switched to wine. There's a season and a half to go through until then, though. I will be looking closely lol
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4fe5d9f46efa3f43e374699061106baf/740ff49fcd5ffc82-70/s540x810/b1a0d8589f4bf952d1b71ca0cf54ac844e1c4b52.jpg)

Why do I always forget that he admits he's freaked out? Not that anyone could tell. Sarah can, though. And the fact that Charlie doesn't even bother denying it is because there would be no point. He can't really hide from her. The only thing he can apparently hide from her is his feelings for her.
Nooo, don't talk about pets dying. Rex will live forever, you said so!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0ef63c08e44ac1611c730214b22c00ff/740ff49fcd5ffc82-70/s540x810/91cf7553cee5b45625ae4802ef417859f0ef7db4.jpg)

I really like their hug.
Who dares to interrupt their non-date??? They were about to order Thai. I like how bummed Sarah looks.

Jesse's hug goes... a little bit different than Charlie and Sarah's.
Dude, whacking him in the face with that umbrella? He'd have a nasty scar. They didn't even show him bleed.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0fa51191999efc5436a1ff1a4336625b/740ff49fcd5ffc82-46/s540x810/15adc42faa8e0d4a25dac69d192f2a20718a5ac2.jpg)
Rex getting all the attention he deserves as he gets back on duty.

Well, now it looks like it hurts. Jesse whump!
Jesse mistaking Charlie's concern for surprise about the notebook belonging to Dana... Crazy thought, what if you all went to therapy?
It will be forever hilarious how much more accurately this show portrays cryptocurrency use compared to other more popular crime shows. I insist that someone is a fan. (Bitcoin's on the rise!)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/57e49d35104104800730e33911586096/740ff49fcd5ffc82-3e/s540x810/a350db0276cafffb0c4228fce0dcb453fe57c00f.jpg)
"She hugged you?" Yeah, and then she whacked him. So don't get too excited.
"This is where Dana hugged Jesse before she hit him, partner." Oh my god, why would you even say it like that? Yes, this is an actual quote of what Charlie said.
I like that Charlie would let Jesse take initiative and he was closely by in case Dana decided to hit him again.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1cff71eb16cda410c721a55201990956/740ff49fcd5ffc82-b8/s540x810/1d94c079a4fb5562d1bb8dbb178a6dea2422e1e4.jpg)
Ohh, nice shot.
"The Jesse I knew never would become a cop". Interesting. What would he have become?
"Why is it always a dumpster, Rex?" Because that's where people dump things?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4ec8f72f9a17a2aa993505f26b912acf/740ff49fcd5ffc82-31/s540x810/4e5b18819ea54e83681dcb749c8e9f9e072253c0.jpg)
So this is "training", huh?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e82a12f66cc73c0c7b1db8f2ce8d26c8/740ff49fcd5ffc82-f8/s540x810/b6ac2eb7f599b6d822e85bfe5a3125de9ca5104b.jpg)
Jesse getting into even more trouble. I can understand why they made him an actual cop, he has to be able to defend himself from bad juju somehow.
Dana actually did give the digital wallet once Jesse's life was threatened. So, points for that.
And Rex gets to be a hero again.
Jesse get to be invited to Dana's apartment. You better not whack the boy again. Unless he asks.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/50c1843204d104334d40faaac508e651/740ff49fcd5ffc82-fe/s540x810/db575f1c2fed163abd4fbd5a87dd14525b54c8d1.jpg)
Proud parents lol
I can't say I was that interested in the case in its core but everything else about this episode was great. And that's what actually matters.

For lack of better things to do with my life, I’ve been staring at various frames of Jeff’s visions, trying to figure out what is going on/who ppl are in some of the shots, and I figured I'd post about it in case anyone wanted to discuss or guess with me
cut for heavy speculation. No actual spoilers plz, this is just based off of onscreen information, stuff that's already aired (any conclusions I can draw based off outfits in bts footage have been excluded)
okay so in Jeff’s last vision after leaving Tony’s place, we see Kenta attacking someone with a knife
This person has a ring on their right hand, so at first I assumed it would be Tony, and who wouldn’t WANT it to be Tony, right?
Except Tony wears a ring on the first finger of his right hand, and this person has it on the third finger. So… not Tony, unless there’s costuming inconsistencies going on.
So who wears a ring on that finger? *cue sinking feeling in my stomach*
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4ed60eb8a7a17f1ca6d0057cad59009e/e718e063b9ee17b8-af/s540x810/fc7d70074f9fa8795002b273075c12c38c49e2f8.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b87a9e7443573362a3dd5ce09061ad29/e718e063b9ee17b8-0e/s540x810/be3fda972c1a41762f020fa9c8c572abcac8635a.jpg)
Pete wears a ring on that finger. Which makes it highly possible that this is Pete who Kenta is attacking, which means I could very well get my heart torn to shreds with some friends/maybe-lovers to enemies tragic shit. *stares at the wall*
With Kenta seemingly targeting Pete in the upcoming ep, maybe we’ll see this scene on Friday, maybe not. Whatever happens, if it is Pete, I hope it fucking wrecks me.
Thoughts on this??? The only other person I've noticed with rings is Dean, but he's got two rings on two fingers, and also I don't see why or how Kenta would be attacking Dean.
This is possibly the same fight scene, possibly not (maybe Kenta just goes stab happy idk), but anyways this person has a dark long-sleeved shirt and a dark jacket on top of that, which matches with what we've seen Pete wear.
I'm open to the possibility that it could be literally anyone and also that it's potentially not as it seems, since the vision of Charlie's death was obviously not Charlie actually dying.
Also, there’s another person in Jeff’s vision that I’m like? Who the fuck is this...
Random journalist/paparazzi? Jeff’s spy? A spy of Tony’s? Like literally who are you sir???
And one last mystery person is this, who I am once again assuming to be Tony (PLEASE let this one be Tony for the love of god). We've seen Tony in some brown suits, although the only one I've gotten a clear view of has different buttons than this. He's also the only one we've seen in suits like this at all, so I think it's at least intended for us to assume it's Tony, right? But again, it could be misdirection. But please someone stab Tony, FOR ME THANKS.
Anyways, that's all I've got. Teasers and such like this are often misleading, and we have literally zero context for these shots, but I think it's fun to do the guesswork. First watchthroughs are really the only time we get to speculate, after all.

My alternate Ghostfaces
Did a post like this before, but thought I'd go more in depth.
Scream 1. I would never trade Billy and Stu for the world, but I do have some scenarios.
Randy and Tatum.
Randy Meeks' motive: He's obsessed with horror movies and was in love with but Sidney wasn't in him. He wanted to make Sidney suffer and get revenge. Also he was planning to blame Billy and Stu.
Tatum Riley's motive:She just wants to kill her cheating boyfriend and all the girls he slept with and to her NO ONE is good enough for Sidney. She doesn't want to kill Sidney, she wants her all to herself. aka Yandere Tatum.
Scream 2.
Nancy is the mastermind. Murphy and Lois the sorority sisters are the people who get their hands dirty. They were OBSESSED with Sidney in all their scenes and they did nothing with them. Their motives would be wanting the famous Sidney Prescott in their Sorority House and for her to die in their Sorority House.
Scream 3.
Dewey as the mastermind or Milton as the mastermind and Roman and Angelina as the killers.
The old Dewey was Ghostface fan theory.
Obviously this never happened and Roman was the third Ghostface and the mastermind. But imagine if this did happen.
So let's create a motive.
Dewey was unhealthily obsessed with Sidney. He was the third killer during Billy and Stu's murders. He tied up loose ends and stalked Sidney. He was tired of being the town laughingstock and tired of being the butt of Tatum's jokes. So he convinced Billy and Stu to help him. They'd become infamous, while Dewey would be seen as the hero and get the girl he always wanted, but that never happened. If he can't have SIdney, no one can. Jennifer was someone that Gale fucked over to get the Woodsboro gig. It was supposed to be hers. Gale took everything from her and she wanted revenge. So Dewey and Jennifer come together and enact their plan.
So here's my little pitch for the Milton story,
Milton is the mastermind. He essentially wants to tie up loose ends. If the story of Maureen gets out, his studio and the Stab franchise is finished. So Milton decides to use his son Roman and his new actress for Sidney to kill all ties to Maureen Prescott, finally ending with Sidney's death. Roman's motive remains the same and Angelina's motive is her cut motive was her being obsessed with Sidney, taking the role of Sidney and wanting to become Sidney.
So I thought of giving Roman a redemption arc. Milton keeping Roman in the dark about how he raped Maureen and when Sidney tells him, Roman is conflicted. Sidney kills Angelina and then Milton has Sidney where he wants her and remarks. That this is like when he took her mother and before anything gross can happen, Roman shoots him dead.
Roman turns himself in and down the line Roman would be the key to helping them in future Ghostface cases while also having Sidney and Roman grow closer as real siblings, almost akin to what Sam and Tara are. Speaking of. Roman could've been what Sam and Tara needed. He knows what they're going through, that inner darkness and especially being related to a monster. He could've also helped resolve any issues between the sisters.
Scream 4.
Jill and Rebecca Walters.
Jill's motive remains the same.
Rebecca’s motivation would be she wants a juicer and more willing victim star to sell out and make significantly more bank while possibly cashing in herself with her story of being “close” to Sidney and the heart break of losing her.
To Jill Rebecca is the mother she never had and the perfect agent any star could ever have. To Rebecca, Jill is the daughter she always wanted and someone who could easily replace Sidney.
Imagine this. She brings Sidney back to Woodsboro. She’s a shady publicist and her motive is to make a profit off of Sidney’s death and make Jill into the perfect victim that will make them both famous.
Now we could have Charlie or even Trevor as killers just to give us 4 killers since Scream 4 lol Jill strings them along, Charlie is obsessed with Jill while Trevor is doing this to be forgiven for cheating. Charlie and Trevor kills the teens while Rebecca kills the heavy adults. In the end Rebecca and Jill kills them and frames them as the killers. Jill would do her self-injury while Rebecca would rush out the door as the screaming witness telling everyone what happened.
Jill doesn’t kill Rebecca. When Jill learns that Sidney survived. Rebecca insists that she lets her handle this.
Much of the same happens but with Rebecca in the Jill in the hospital role. When Sidney hits her with the MRI Sidney says “Rebecca, you’re fired”
The final scene would be for Sidney, Gale and Dewey coming for Jill. Only to see that the bed is empty. Jill is on the run with a promise that she could return to hunt Sidney.
Scream 5. Three scenarios. Either Vince Schneider and Amber, Judy & Wes Hicks or Tara and Amber
Vince and Amber.
Vince's Motive. Embracing his uncle’s legacy and attempting to turn Sam into his partner for her to embrace her father’s legacy. This time, the Macher is the mastermind and groomed Amber to be his partner like Richie did. Amber's motive remains the same.
Making Vince the mastermind could have added an extra layer onto the lambasting of toxic fandom.
Like, Amber could still have 100% been the toxic fan, but you could add on a commentary about how her being as entitled and angry as she was about the Stab movies not doing exactly what she wanted was what allowed Vince to take advantage and groom her into doing what he wanted.
Which is what Richie did too, but adding in a little twist that Vince didn’t actually give a fuck about the Stab movies would have been a nice bit of frosting on top of things.
Sort of like what Mrs Loomis did with Mickey, with how truly terrible people can and do manipulate impressionable kids into doing horrendous things.
The one thing I would change is I would save Dewey’s death for Scream 6 and the big death would be Richie is killed instead of Dewey. We get one moment of Sidney, Dewey and Gale together. Dewey is with the Carpenter sisters. The Vince reveal happens and Vince mortally wounds/knocks Dewey out. Sid & Gale kill Amber while Sam kills Vince.
And Scream 6, same movie but the motives is Ethan and Quinn are Vince’s siblings and Bailey is Vince’s father and we see one more Ghostface, Leslie Macher and it’s the Macher’s revenge against the Carpenters.
And as for Dewey’s death in Scream 6. Bailey kills Dewey. I feel like one cop killing the other would’ve worked better, especially since Bailey is a dark reflection of Dewey.
Judy and Wes Hicks
In Scream 4, we were introduced to Judy. Judy had a past with Sidney back in Woodsboro High. Something about Judy, always seemed off to me. But you know who also had a past with SIdney? Angelina and her cut plotline was Roman’s partner. So imagine this. Richie isn’t the killer, and Amber isn’t the killer. It’s the mother-son duo of Judy and Wes.
Motive. What would their motive be?
Judy is the one who was in love with Billy and wants revenge on Sidney for taking him away. You could still have Sam as Billy’s daughter, because let’s face it that boy was a slut.
Wes could be the second Ghostface instead of Amber. I read a reddit post that suggested that Wes was a bit obsessed with Tara, let’s work with that. Wes is a psycho stalker killing everyone close to Tara so he can have her for himself and plans to blame it all on Sam. Judy killed Dewey to lure out SIdney and Gale after Wes’ killings were not working.
Sidney and Gale kill Judy together while Sam and Tara kills Wes together
Sidenote. If Amber isn’t the killer. She could either sacrifice herself to save Tara or live, the choice is up to you. But if she lives, we get the Core Five!
As for what happens in Scream 6, this video had this idea of Jason being this True Crime esque killer, so yeah do that instead of Richie’s family.
Tara and Amber.
Amber’s motive is a mix of her original motive and Richie’s motive mixed into one. . Tara’s motive would be Sam left her. Her father left her. Her mother is the town pariah who constantly leaves her for work, Wes was obsessed with her and the only guy she liked was stolen from her. Her life was shit and it started the moment that Sam left her. All she had was Amber. They became best friends, shared their love of horror and became girlfriends.
See the rest of my Tamber au for more
Scream 6. Either go with Jason and Greg or even better. Make Sam and Tara the killers.
Jason and Greg was the most interesting thing about Scream 6, SO OF COURSE THEY KILLED THEM IN THE BEGINNING AND REPLACING A TRUE CRIME GHOSTFACE STORY FOR REDOING SCREAM 2, BECAUSE OF FUCKING COURSE! Yeah, I am STILL pissed about Jason, Greg and the Woodsboro subreddit's lost potential.
Sam and Tara.
Fuck it. Melissa wanted to do it and Jenna can do evil good!
Imagine all the attacks on Sam's character and Sam being framed for Richie's murders are all a result of Gale's book. Gale changed the actual story because it would sell more. So Sam decides to get revenge.
Sam does the New York murders and believes she's alone. She's not. Tara is there to make sure Sam succeeds. What Sam and Tara do not realize is their friends are helping them. Mindy helps cover their tracks and Chad is the muscle.
Yes The Core Four are the Ghostfaces in this alternate Scream 6.
One by one Gale's life falls apart. The lies and slander are revealed to all. Sidney outright abandons her and refuses to talk to her. Kirby refuses to help her. "You made your own bed, you're on your own, Gale." And anyone that could possibly help her is dead.
Gale is alone in the Ghostface shrine to confront the consequences of her actions and the monster she created.
One by one, the four of them corner her and then they all mask off.
Sam wears Billy's mask
Tara wears Amber's mask
Mindy wears Jill's mask
Chad wear's Mickey's mask
"You had to know this was coming Gale. All you had to do was write that book about Dewey, but no, you couldn't let Ghostface go, could you? You had to destroy our lives and now you'll pay for it and all the lives you profited off of."
Sam and Tara draw their knife and gut Gale.
They pinned the blame on Quinn Bailey and Ethan Landry.

My husband's First time Watching Twilight
My dear husband has not seen many of the movies that were very informative of my tween and teen years; Twilight is one of the top ones. He not only agreed to watch it but agreed to let me write down his reactions. Here are the 3 PAGES of comments I recorded during the two hour movie.
Opening line: "I'd never given much thought to how I would die." - Well, Lucky you
I'm glad this deer is going to be totally unharmed
What ?! Hang on... He catches the dear mid jump like a trick dog.
Him: Why is (Stephany Myers) so obsessed with baseball? Me: Shes Mormon Him: I think it's the homoerotic subtext
ACAB even (Charly)
Alright... one bathroom? There's only two of you!
Billy (who is in a wheelchair) responds with how hes doing by saying "Still Dancing!" - I love him Meets Eric - GAY BEST FRIEND *He was disappointed by him being straight* *Pauses Movie* I had no idea her name was Isabella
Mike Existing - That's the most awkward person Ive ever seen
Jerk kisses her on the cheek without consent - That's assault
*Edward walks in* - OMG thats BATMAN *JKJKJK*
How ... Why ... Why is she laughing.
So he can see the future... Nobody in this movie knows how to eat food. Fuck you, Binder! She is the awkward one Charly Guy in Mill getting hunted - Hes agile I would have fallen over by then. Bella slips and falls over - Relatable *he is unaware of the trope* "Not in Phoenix Bells" Line referring to large animals hunting people in Forks - "YoU DoNt HaVe AnImAls iN ArIzOnA" What do you mean Charly!? They have Mountain Lions and SNAKES Charly! *I mention scorpions too* No writer in this movie ever talked to a high schooler. "Your name is Bella?" - Its actually Isabella as I have learned I only care about this golden onion... and why it isn't a golden garlic. "Cold wet thing" - Unlike sand which is hot and course She also looks like shes in white face paint. (Edward) just walks away like a fucking freak... I love it. None of these people have ever talked to a human before. *Car Crash* - So much is happening... why are there so many cuts... The vampires all look like fucking mimes Your asking him about the speed he got there and not the CRUMPLED DOOR?!
Dont worry (Bella) Im also confused about what happened *Edward in the corner of her room* Hes like a fucking PTSD flashback. Hes a fucking sleep paralysis demon Its dumb to send (the vampires) to highschool. I didn't know one of (Bellas) personality traits was Clumsy There Bio teacher belongs in a sitcom They act like they are fifty or twelve... not like teenagers... twelve is more accurate. The most unrealistic part (of there field trip) is that the bus driver is not screaming at him for banging on the door... or maybe I grew up in Boston. *Edward dose the apple thing* - Ok now he's just making fun of her Robert Patterson and the guy playing Charly are the best actors. Edward mentions wearing a mask, and Bella quips about it - OOOOO, She called Edward out for being autistic! *He can say that as I am autistic and I give him permission* *Edward cant go to LaPush* - Is it cause he cant cross moving water? *He made so many jokes about vampire lore I didn't write them all down* I was trying to tell what time this flashback took place and I just couldn't. I'm glad they gave us a 30-second tutorial on how to get a book online. Some of this look like a horror movie TOKYO DRIFTING, Dam that was a fuckin j-turn! "Little do (her friends know) he was going to eat her, for her blood" Oh Bella, I understand he's a pretty boy, but back up from the "How do you know what he was thinking?" and back to the "WHY WERE YOU STALKING ME!?" I can't wait for the almost SA scene to never come up again... *sarcasm* * They touch hands by oops * - Touch Barrier Broken Charly and Billy watch the game - DAD DATE! ... Oh no not Butcrack SANTA! Looks at Jasper - Is he another vampire who fought for the Confederacy? She sees buttcrack Santa's body - Do they not have body bags? With how much he's stalking her he should be called Edward the Relentless *he loves what we do in the shadows* Why are we spinning... why is there so much spinning? Bella claims Edward talks old-fashioned - He talks like a badly written character... like everyone here. "you won't hurt me" - cause stalkers never escalate violence when things don't work out. Because she's a white woman, and he's her pit bull. LISTEN TO HIM WHEN HE SAYS HES DANGEROUS BELLA. "personal brand of heroine" - Him: because everyone knows heroine comes in brands Me: Im on name brand Meth (me referring to my ADHD MEDS) Him: You're on generic Meth, and you know it. (as I take the generic brand) YOU'VE KNOWN HIM FOR LIKE A WEEK "Irevicoably in love with him" - GIRL... WHY? Sees Emmit - He kinda looks like Peet Davidson I like (Edwards) sitting like a little weirdo He turned to madly in love on a dime. Wait hang on.... (skips back to Billy giving Bella the stinkeye) Eyyyy They do what we do! (Billy holding all the stuff while Jacob pushes, like we do with my wheelchair) Just Sees Jasper - "Ive never seen more fear in a character than in his face right now
Is he scared she will know he fought for the Confederacy? (I have yet to confirm or deny the truth of this statement) Alice being Alice - OOoO Edward, she's gonna steal your girl! No wonder he's fallen in love in 3 seconds... he's been seventh wheel for who knows how long. *there dancing in edwards room* - *husband starts singing my fair lady* "Hang on Spider Monkey" - IT's THE LINE!!! *I mention how it's creepy that he watches her sleep* Well, you watch me while I sleep, but you have insomnia... and were married. *they kiss*- This is the most Mormon shit I've ever seen. At least they show how realistically boaring being a vampire would be. Drinking while cleaning your shotgun... that's totally safe Charly... "Why do you play baseball?" - Since they are American Bella! - "Well it is the American past time" Esme says - SEE! The Thrupple of trouble is walking in like there ready for a photoshoot. Blond Thrupple guy (James) looks so High... "...STuck here like MOM" - OOF! KNIFE TO THE HEART! Did her friends just steal mugs from the diner? Edward won't stop drinking her blood - Bop him on the nose with a newspaper like a dog. Edward sad he "didn't" stop - But you did stop when Carlile bopped you on the head with a newspaper. We kissed once now were in love forever.... They are all weirdos and this feels like a cult Director of Photography, I hate you. Costume? I can't forgive you for that flashback. High school science teacher, you were my favorite. His final review: This was a bad movie. There are better vampire movies, there's better romance movies and better young adult movies. All the genera are valed, this is just a bad example of all of those generas. I understand why its popular tho, and why young woman loved it. Especially when you take in at the time, it came out. Its the American mix of all about sex but completely clean and demonising sex and not having any sex in it. To me its the same way that 50 shades of gray wants to be about sexy bdsm while still saying bdsm is morally wrong. Nothing wrong with wanting a sexy vampire with wanting a romance, I like romance. Theres nothing wrong with media for young women. This is just bad.

Recently Vivienne posted a new character with Emily and Sera on her social media account, as I think you might have also noticed.
Adam's son Abel is gonna be shown in season 2 of Hazbi Hotel, and I want to know your thoughts on him.
I personally think he wouldn't be an antagonist character like his father(Adam), considering his kind looking smile and face. On the other hand, Adam was just giving off a clear antagonist vibe by his headress (horns and evil grin and all). I feel like Abel would agree with Emily's thoughts and also help Charlie achieve her dreams of helping sinners' redemption.
What kind of role do you think Abel would play throughout the upcoming season?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d53dd565dee964514ee3b4ee1e21ef80/6325c037375c2615-71/s400x600/83f2caab602b1a6c5b9784653af17163d4b5225c.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0de54de5dcd039ddba8c6c1fc7abe484/6325c037375c2615-76/s500x750/3af48c1100652ce748dcdbafd1ed05f8c9dac824.jpg)
If they're going to have his characterization be close to the Abel in the Bible, then i highly doubt he'd be the bad guy. He was God's favorite! Tho if they want a twist, there's also that fact that in the bible Abel sacrificed one of his beloved lambs as a gift to God as a testament of his love for Him(as opposed to Cain who only offered crops that he had no attachment to). There's certain ways you can use a character trait like that for antagonistic actions, but eh. I dont have too much of a high hope for that. I dont think I'd want that route either.
What I do want is for Abel to form some kind of(non-romantic) relationship with Lute. Aside from the fact that they're both mourning Adam, I'd like to see parallels drawn between Lute and Vaggie's rivalry and Cain and Abel's tragic brotherhood.
So if you're not familiar with Genesis, in their part of the Bible, Cain and Abel were both sons of Adam and Eve. Abel was the one favored by God, and Cain found this unfair and was very envious of his younger brother, to the point where he ends up murdering him. On the other hand, Lute and Vaggie were both angels under Adam's command. Although the brief flashback has us implying Lute attacked Vaggie due to the demon she spared, I really wont be surprised if she happened to be envious/threatened by the fact that Adam favored Vaggie in any kind of way too.
Since he's literally humanity's first murder victim, I'd really like to know his thoughts about the Extermination and Lute's bloodthirst. I'd like a scene of him attempting to reel Lute in, warning her how he'd seen the same look in his brother's eyes before and how it consumed him.
You know this one song number from Tangled the series? I'd like something like this with them(yes, that's Lucifer's VA. Yes the VA for the lady also gives off Lute vibes. That's probably because both of their VAs have played Elphaba in Broadway)

#asks#sorry if im mansplaining bible lore btw#i grew up catholic and have a pastor for an uncle#so knowledge on this stuff is common for us#but i didn't wanna assume everyone knew these things#i am a nit rusty tho

Finally got to see Peter Pan Goes Wrong in West End with Charlie Russell, Matthew Cavendish, Greg Tannahill, Matthew Howell, Harry Kershaw, Clark Devlin, Jamie Birkett, Chris Leask, Ellie Morris, and Jean-Luke Worrell! They were all amazing, I thought I'd share some of my fav bits! (Warning: There's a lot)
• Firstly, programme stuff: the note from the director basically just being Chris and Trevor arguing like a married couple. Chris being too scientific and Trevor having to remind him it's supposed to be festive.
● Them leaving a note asking if anybody was a flying operator as they didn't currently have one😭
• Robert leaving the children of the Cornley Youth Theatre abandoned in a forest with limited food and knives,to prepare for their performance of Lord of the Flies. NSPCC and police had to intervene, 2 of the children are still missing today (Ben McIntyre and Sarah Cordell)
• Jonathon's interview where's he's practically begging the interviewer to take note he was 'fashionably late', when he was actually waiting for 6 hours.
• Jonathon saying (in the interview), he's been focusing on humanitarian work, such as adopting a child from Ethiopia and a child from Vietnam. And then the interviewer just replied with "That is Brad Pitt. Everything you have just said is about Brad Pitt and not yourself."
• In the cast section, Chris Bean writing "I would like to remind my father that there is a spare ticket at the box office for him if he chooses to show up." That's so sad😭
• Trevor's section ended with "trevorzbeatz/YouTube.co.uk" 😭
• Pip (assistant stage manager) just says: "They call me Big Pip up north. Trevor's cousin. Out and about and that. Nice one." Like okay yh me too Big Pip
• They tried to feed the crocodile an alarm clock😭 (RIP Nadia tho😔)
• Annie left a little note saying she's "looking for a man" and then there's some description of what she's (not) looking for
• A page saying welcome to the theatre, but it is still very much in character😭 "Director Chris Bean always fulfils his promise of giving us a show we will remember for a very long time."
•Pre-show antics: one of the assistant stage managers (I'm gonna guess Pip? Not too sure tho) was walking around looking for a hammer. I noticed that he'd act like he was looking around and then when he spotted a child he'd go and ask them. I thought that was cute🥹
• I couldn't see the wires going through the audience cause I had seats up high, but I did see Robert pulling the end of the wire whilst on stage with the help of an audience member
• Dennis was late I think, ran across the stage from the audience with a bag on
• Lucy suddenly ran off stage, Robert not far behind shouting things like "You have to do it!" (And then later on she ran back on stage, but it seemed Robert got caught up in a convo)
• Now onto the actual show, I thought Dennis singing les mis due to his headgear was pretty funny seeing as les mis was about a door or 2 down
• At one point we were clapping for something (can't remember what, but it was during the beginning Darling Family scene), and Max joined in with the clapping. Sandra had to tell him to stop with a pointed glare and a lil hand gesture
• Every appearance with Robert as the shadow was amazing, I know it's simple but I'm always impressed with the rug pull and the way he lands
• During the bit where there's too much smoke and it engulfs the pirates, Trevor comes to the rescue but does hit Chris in the arse by accident, christrev anybody?
• I will forever love Robert trying to get Dennis to pick up the sword, Dennis picking up the boat paddle and Robert going on a rant about how he's been moving his arms for the past 5 mins why would he need the paddle
• During the interval the lights would still go out occasionally, fun touch
• As Jonathan flew up before crashing down, a banner fell down with Robert holding a bean, a reference of his show Jack and the bean
• Before this, I'd only seen the BBC recorded version of Peter Pan Goes Wrong, so I rlly enjoyed the changes. Such as the mermaids, but I RLLY laughed at Robert being the Mr Bumble in Oliver that killed a child. Especially when he went to be Peter Pan before starting to sing 'Food, Glorious Food"
• The whole poison bit was incredible, Harry's improv was on FIRE. We obvs did the traditional pantomime business which made Chris mad, he very much gave teacher vibes as he sat down on the set and said it was our own time we were wasting. He also complained that this was only the matinée and they still had an evening performance to get to. Then he pointed out how somebody in the audience was hissing, "Nobody goes to a show and says 'Yeah it was good but the person in the fourth row wouldn't stop hissing'" (this resulted in a lot of children hissing whenever he appeared on stage). Then when it got to the poison bit, a child was yelling at him to hurry up, causing Chris to go on a rant about how he didn't even want children there, sitting there on their booster seats. After the child yelled at him multiple times, Chris gave up and told the child to open it for him, which they did. Then as he was leaving, we were booing again and he was like "NO NO DONT BOO ME, IT WAS THE CHILD THAT POISIONED HIM." Then as he exited, he said something along the lines of "blame the child murderer." It was insane.
• Then, when Peter asked who would try to poison him, Tink/Annie pointed at the child that opened the bottle. I think Chris Leask actually had to turn his head downwards and to the side to hide his laughing.
• I've pointed this out before, but I'm so endeared with how worried Chris was when Annie was unconscious. HE KNEELED THERE HOVERING OVER HER BODY JUST LIKE TOUCHING HER FACE, NOT SPEAKING FOR AWHILE. Adorable. Every characters reaction was adorable...sorry Annie
• I just have to say Francis' Cabaret performance to distract us from Annie was amazing. Loved the audience clapping along as well and the rest of the cast looking absolutely shocked and confused
• I loved that we heard a whole marriage fall apart through Dennis' headgear. I want to know more abt them, the husband that took over to help Dennis sounded sweet
• When Lucy slid down the ship in her wheelchair she was flung out and then caught by Trevor in a sort of bear hug, Lucy's legs wrapped around his torso. Trevor was SEVERELY judging the cast HE WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THEM. They're besties ur honour, I thought it was so cute
• Loved Francis' Cabaret performance again during the big fight scene with the set moving.
• Trevor saying something like "You've got to be joking" when Lucy picked up the book 😭
• I wanted to scream laugh at Chris lying in the bed like an ill victorian child as Lucy closed up the story, and then Dennis choosing to lie on the squished bottom bunk
• As Lucy continued to read, Chris, Sandra, Trevor, Dennis, and Max were all checking up on one another in the background. Hugs, shoulder grabs. Guys, I love Sandra and Chris' dynamic so much, Sandra was making sure he got off the bed alright and then gave him a hug
• Of course the whole end song, Max as the crocodile encouraging us to clap
It was so amazing, everybody was fantastic!! My jaw still aches from laughing so hard! Hope ppl found this interesting cause I always love when other ppl share what happened during their show😭

heyy, it's the charginny anon again, thank you sm for answering! i've read the post you linked and watched the deleted scenes and omg i love them so much. i love how the boy who strives off of attention is immediately enraptured by the girl who gets ignored for most of the story. idk there's something poetic about it
oh also the song "fair" by the amazing devil started to play when i had them on my mind and so it is now a song i associate with them so i thought i'd share lol
Hi hi!! You are so welcome. Thank you for asking <3

AND OH MY GODDD. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING. I've seen a few people say they found the two of them random, but to me, they made all the sense in the world. Both narratively and literally, they needed each other. Because Ginny was striving to be noticed while Charlie needed to be truly seen by a person—not for his humor, not for the front he puts up—but for who he really is. Not only is that idea implemented via the play, because she doesn't know him for his front—but also by the implication of her presence after Neil's death. I think above all, there's a reason Charlie met Ginny when he did, not fate perse, but even just narratively, it sets up that knowing, that unlike everyone else, Ginny will be faced with Charlie at his most vulnerable. And she won't turn away, because she knew Neil too, someone who just scratched the surface of Charlie's vulnerability, and because Charlie saw her when no one else did—and that meant something.
I agree with you, there's something poetic about the two of them. I just think it makes sense. Charlie will always need someone who will pull him back to earth, but also understand his circumstance—why he puts on that front—not to mention her understanding of Neil is honestly a crucial aspect to knowing Charlie. That's something I think gets overlooked ALOT. There aren't many people who can offer both things for him, in fact, I think she's the only one who can. And for her, I think she just wants someone honest, someone who sees her, and actually cares about her beyond a surface level. Someone who TRIES for her. Knox didn't try. Lysander didn't try. I even have my qualms with Chris at times, even just as her friend. But Charlie tried, when he hardly even knew her. And my god does that mean something.
Anyway, that's just my two cents!! I'm just yapping abt them again loll.
(And that song is so real, goddd.)

Hello, if you are up for it I would love to know more about your headcanons for Rose being autistic. It makes so much sense to me, and I'd like to more 😊
I’d love to talk about my rose hcs :D here’re a few !!! this became a bit all over the place so bare with me lol
(some of you may have seen / seen me talk about these in the past but shhhh I like talking about things over and over - I love her so much it’s insane where do I even begin)
Firstly I think it’s important to note that rose obviously has/would have been autistic her whole life. The way an autistic person who has lived longer than you or I with their autism and autistic traits is going to deal & cope differently, and have more experience with managing/regulating - or at least in my head! We have to look at rose differently because I don’t believe she would experience autism the same way you or I would anymore; nothing is really new to her.
Until she moves in with Blanche, that is!!!!
I think rose, after being in the same spot for so long (st. Olaf) learnt on her own how to manage & cope with being autistic because she had a “life long” routine that never really changed until Charlie died? From the bits she’s shared about her at home life during her marriage it all sounds meticulously planned & never changing, which is one of the many reasons why I hc her being autistic actually. Charlie also seemed to have a similar routinely-ness about him but I don’t know enough to properly headcanon him (although, rose having an autistic partner would have brought her great comfort im sure. The idea sits in the back of my mind - however, I could definitely go on about Blanche & Dorothy being their own kinds of neurodivergent haha)
I think roses most “obvious” autistic trait is how oblivious (?) she can be, and very often is. She has moments where it’s made very clear that rose is not stupid, because she isn’t!!! She’s very clever and it’s crucial that point is underlined often!! She does tend to have things fly over her head, or taken too literally. We know that and it doesn’t need repeating - But another thing that really stands out to me is her lack of filter when speaking!!! This may just me be projecting, but I’ve noticed that most of the time, when she drops some wild out of no where (and sometimes slightly out of character) comeback at one of the girls, it comes out straight and with little thought. Innocently, almost? Like a thought just breached containment, you know 😂. I’ve seen a few autistic people talk about this but it really can be a problem - it’s something I personally struggle with and that has caused very angry fights between friends & family. It’s that, “if you didn’t want my opinion why ask?” thing I guess? But also just speaking your mind. This extends to her interests as well, and often in an “anger” of outbursts we don’t ever expect from her. ie: the scene where Blanche has accidentally given away her teddy bear & rose snaps. It’s a bit jarring the way it comes out of nowhere! But I’ll touch on her interests later.
I don’t think rose overly struggled/struggles with masking, because I don’t believe she’s ever really felt she had to (This adds onto my last point about lacking a filter). She grew up in an environmental where she always very closely related to the people around her, and that had mostly known her for her entire life (that she had grown up with). So I would like to assume that to them, this was just rose. The only rose that they had ever known. Nothing would be out of place to them because what else do they know! So naturally there would be no room for judgement = rose feels no pressure to conform. St. Olaf sounds like my autistic heaven, no wonder rose misses her hometown so bad 😭. Anyway the first time she’d ever get a strange look would’ve definitely been that first moment her & Blanche met. Blanche was a little startled by roses definition of being “a wild woman” and rose seemed completely lost by it - because she had never experienced that before! She even asked, panicked, why Blanche was putting her flyer back up. I could over analyze that scene forever. Dorothy was a separate shock to the system for her but I feel like that’s a whole post on it’s own. I really want to write out my thoughts on Dorothy & Rose warming up to each other one day because it’s not expanded on much :’) they’re soooooooooooo important to me.
Roses main interests also inspired this headcanon. Many autistic people tend to have “weird” or “childish” interests, regardless of age or gender. Lots of autistic people don’t tend to view age and gender the way someone who’s not autistic would - they’re not as concrete & restricting. Rose definitely has interests that would be considered strange for her age! Her protectiveness of her stuffed animals, Disney, even (what I consider to be her special interest) St. Olaf could be considered by some, outside of Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia, kind of odd. I think these things can be seen as less-so because Rose is a woman, which I’m sure would’ve been a lovely thing & saved her many uncomfortable questions.
Rose often self soothes/stims when she’s feeling particularly out of sorts or if she’s run into a slightly uncomfortable situation. One of my favourite examples is that clip where she’s taken two sock puppets & acts them out to be Blanche & Dorothy. Dorothy walks into the kitchen without her noticing &, once rose says something with her sock puppet that she’s not very fond of, hits her over the head (lovingly) with the paper. Rose repeats “bad puppet” to herself & knocks her wrists together. She also turns to the girls (but mostly Dorothy I think?) when she needs to self soothe or regulate. Another example that I think about all the time because I just love the clip so much - that bit where Blanche was on a diet for whatever reason she felt she needed to be & rose had accidentally eaten the food Blanche had prepared beforehand. Blanche explodes & rose immediately goes to hide herself behind Dorothy. Hinting at autistic traits or not, that scene is so damn precious 😭 be still my heart.
(the clip in question … I couldn’t help myself. Excuse the quality it’s been sitting in my camera roll for a while)
These are just some of my thoughts :D if anyone has any specific questions about my headcanons (or examples of autistic traits that I haven’t mentioned yet) pleaseeeee send them my way !!!!! I love love love talking about rose !!!!!!! <<<33333
#my baby :’) now I need to go rewatch that scene#or wait maybe I’ll just include it here actually. you all need to see it again#rose I love you <<<333333 she’s me I’m her#thank you for this ask anon I always enjoy talking about rose :D sorry it took so long to answer haha#the golden girls#rose nylund#asks
