Hopefully this uploads with good quality bc this was a BEHEMOTH of a piece (mainly bc I made my file size too big lol). Anyways, hereâs my rendition of @nnnnnnnothingtoseehere âs pirate/mer ateez au!!! I REALLY enjoyed their fic and highly suggest it!!
Admittedly, I got a bit carried away with this and have wayyyy too many pirate pictures saved to Pinterest and my phone, but alas! I will never escape my love for historical clothing (with some anachronisms for aesthetics of course).
I thought way too long about colors and outfits, but it just goes to show you how in depth Nâs writing is (thanks for the extra answered questions)! I kept on finding myself having so much fun thinking about the why behind the outfits lol.
Lastly, this is my first fanart in a while, and moreso, my first fanart of Ateez ever!!! I tried to do them justice but if you canât tell whoâs who, well⊠my bad đ
Hope yâall enjoy bc I know I sure did!!

birds of a feather II Arsenal Women x Teen!Reader
masterlist I word count: 1647
a/n: dear readers, the inspiration for the oneshot was this request here, we hope that we did the great idea justice.
warnings: contains coach abuse through a parental figure
âCome on move over, Viv!â, Jonas yelled before pushing Vivianne stronger than it would have been necessary.
Watching this scene unfold from the bench brought back memories which were engraved into your brain. But none of your teammates noticed your skin turn pale or the slight wobble of your underlip.
The harshness in your coachesâ voices and the physical aggressivity reminded you of your days in the youth team your stepfather had coached. Back in the day all you did was helplessly staying silent, eager to please, whatever he wanted from you to become what you wanted to be a professional footballer.
Unlike your child self the Dutch midfielderâs reaction wasnât silence.
âWhat are you doing? You just said I should get ready!â, she shot back, visibly frustrated by his behaviour.
âYou were too slow!â, the Swedish man replied angrily.
âYou should have told me in time then! God!â, Vivianne shouted
Listening to their fight made you shrink a little bit more, every word they exchanged felt like a whiplash to you. Their sentences opened cuts you thought have long healed, but they turned out to be still open and you had a hard time to stay focused on the game in front of your eyes.
Flashes of the past returned to the forefront of your mind; you tried your best to ignore those, knowing fully well they would haunt you in your dreams tonight.
âCome on, guys, stop that nonsense.â, much to your relief the co-coach separated the two fighting parties.
âCan you believe that?!â, the forward asked you, sounding exasperated.
âViv are you okay?!â, you whispered.
âYeah, Iâm fine.â, she assured you.
âOkay, good.â, you nodded. Although nothing was good. Not really, but you werenât sure you could confide into her. You were still new to the team, and you didnât want to bother her with things which laid in the past but had a way to resurface in the present.
After the game which resulted in a draw you were the last to be in the shower. Under the harsh waterjet you tried to scrub off what happened today, the skin turned already red, because of your strong rubbing against it.
âHey, are you coming? You donât want to miss the bus.â, Kim cleared her throat impatiently to get your attention.
âYes, everyone is waiting for you.â, Leah added, standing right next to your teamâs captain, her arms crossed in front of her chest.
âIâm coming.â, you promised.
âDo you need help with anything?â, Lia asked concerned.
âNo, Iâm good, we can go.â, you waved her off while getting dressed, the clothes clinging to your skin and your hair was still wet when you left the changing room with your teammates.
You were quiet on your way back. You did not want to be that quiet. Everyone around you was talking and joking. But you just sat there, your thoughts spinning.
You barely even managed to say good bye to your teammates before going home.
Standing in front of the door of the small apartment, you could already hear your stepfathers voice.
He was yelling again.
For a moment you considered just leaving but then you thought better of it.
Carefully, you opened the door.
âHi, Iâm home.â, you announced yourself quietly.
Your stepdad immediately turned to you: âYou played like shit today.â
You flinched as he stomped towards you: âBut IâŠâ
His hands wrapped around your upper arm. The sport bag dropped from your shoulder as he pushed you around in anger: âWhatever your coach said, heâs wrong! Remember who got you to where you are now?! Who coached you first and saw your potential!â
His face was so close to yours that you could smell the alcohol on his breath.
You could not get yourself to meet his eyes.
âIâm tired⊠I just want to go to bed.â, you said calmly, to not risk upsetting him even more.
He continued, pushing you backwards repeatedly until your back hit the wall with full force: âYou better remember that! And you better work your ass off at the next game. I refuse to let you embarrass me again!â
There was so much you wanted to say. You wanted to shout how glad you were that he would never coach you again and how sorry you felt for the other kids. You wanted to scream that you owed him nothing, that you were the one who had built this career for yourself.
But you felt too drained to fight, so you just nodded and disappeared into your room without another word.
At training the next day, your stepfathers words reverberated in your head and you found yourself subconsciously pushing your body to its limit at every exercises.
This did not go unnoticed by your teammates.
âWoah, hey. Slow down, little one.â, Beth stopped you. She was smiling but there her eyebrows were knotted together in worry.
Steph appeared on your side as you caught your breath: âYes, you donât want to hurt yourself in training.â
âI wonât.â, you said plainly, hoping they would back off and would let you continue.
âY/nâŠâ, Beth started, the smile suddenly gone.
âYes?â
âRelax a bit. This is almost as obsessive as Leah is with her training.â, she chuckled but you knew she was serious.
The blonde defender grimaced at her: âExcuse me?!â
Her voice went soft as she added: âBut yes, something is off⊠Y/n, if you want to talk about it, you should know that weâre here for you.â
You could feel the tears well up in your eyes so you just shook your head.
âAnd if not to us, thereâs also a psychologist here.â, Lia continued empathetically.
âItâs fine. Really. Just need to be better at the next game.â, you tried.to wave their worries off.
âYou played like ten minutes. Not many players can make a difference in ten minutes.â, Katie argued.
âYes, but itâs not good enough!â, you shouted, pushing the arm of the Irish woman which stretched out for a hug away. Â
âAlright, calm down. Katie rolled her eyes annoyed at you, before turning her head to your other teammates who stood there equally clueless about your sudden emotional outbreak, sounds like she really does need to see our psychologist.â
You were close to shout at her, telling the older woman that she had no idea what was going on inside your brain, how unloving and dangerous your home felt. That family wasnât always as perfect as the club painted it to be. But you decided to be quiet and continued to do your training.
It was after the next match day at home when Kim noticed that your stepdad was pushing you around.
â Girls, look.â, the captain nodded worried into your direction.
âWe canât just-â, Katie begun, already rolling up her sleeves, ready to fight against the taller man.
âKatie. Heâs gone.â, Caitlin interrupted her girlfriend.
âY/n?â, Kim was the first who was at your side, the rest of the team swiftly followed her.
âKim? Katie?â, you blinked at them in surprise.
âAre you good? Is he bothering you.â, the Irish player wanted to know from you with deep concern in her voice.
âHeâs my stepdad, he always acts like that.â, you looked down, ashamed that your home wasnât as beautiful and wholesome as theirs.
âYou know, I donât think I like him an awful lot.â, Beth admitted.
âThe next time he pushes you, Iâll push him back. Such an asshole!â, Katie cursed.
âNo oneâs pushing anyone here!â, Kim demanded in full captain mode. All she cared about was your well-being. The rest could be solved at a later stage.
âRight, and we need to get y/n out of this unhealthy situation at first.â, Lia added earnestly while brushing softly through your open hair with one hand to calm down her and your nerves.
âYou really are the personification of Switzerland, Wally.â, Katie teased her, attempting to lighten up the depressive atmosphere.
âSomeone has to find a reasonable solution.â, Lia defended herself.
âMaybe she could sleep at one of our places tonight until we have a plan?â, Kim suggested.
âSounds good.â, Leah agreed seriously.
âShe can stay with me and Viv.â, Beth announced, giving you a warm smile.
âYes, she can stay as long as she wants. Plus, Myles will be so excited to see her again.â, the Dutch footballer grinned at the memory of their little puppy who loved you a lot.
âThanks, girls.â, you mumbled gratefully.
Gently, Beth put her arm around your shoulders: âThatâs what weâre here for.â
âYes but all your families are so cute and then thereâs mine⊠so I thought I never belonged.â, you admitted, not sure if you were making any sense.
Alessia shrugged, her gaze fixed on you: âNot everyone has a perfect family.â
âAnd family is not always blood-related.â, Beth added softly.
For a moment you were sure that you saw tears glistening in her blue eyes but you could not blame her. She had been through a lot.
âWhat do you mean?â, you asked.
âWhat Beth is trying to say is that we can be your family, y/n.â, Leah explained.
You looked up at her in surprise: âReally?â
âThis is what this team is and always was.â, Kim nodded solemnly.
âA familyâŠâ, you said conclusively.
You looked at your teammates and were left speechless by the determination and empathy in their faces.
After years of suffering through the abuse in youth teams, your heart felt full with gratefulness and adoration for your teammates. But it simultaneously was also breaking for the children still having horrible coaches and being dismissed.
In that moment, you made a promise to yourself to make whatever team you would join a safe space and a family as well.
But for now, you were ready to let your guard down and let your Arsenal family take care of you.

Not sure if someone has said this before, but it's super ironic and funny, that TADC, the (actually) indie show that finally beat Hazbin's popularity and, dare I say, even reached the general public, was not only pitched and is showran by a trans woman, but also features multiple people Viv backstabbed and burned bridges with (Ashley, Michael, Elsie). TADC is such a perfect if unintentional 'fuck you' to Viv.
Having said that, it does make me wonder if any of the animators/other crew who had bad experience with SH went to work on other indie shows. Not only it would be hilarious way to accidentally spite Viv, but, god, I do hope most of them found better work enviroments with better pay and only very few of them got completely burned out, because based on 600+ total animators on HB, in my opinion, the stories we HAVE heard about SH so far don't do justice to how messy and toxic the company actually is.
Oh, they did! I don't want to name names because I'm not sure who's comfortable with what, but they're definitely around.

Baxter's Laboratory đ„
Fanart of Baxter from the upcoming Hazbin Hotel season 2. This is the first time ever for me drawing Baxter, I think he has a really cool design and I can't wait to see him and what's his character going to be like in Season 2
I don't know anything about Baxter other than the fact that he is an Inventor and a Mad Scientist. From the preview that Viv showed us, I am even more excited now for the character.
Hope I did the character justice in this art. This art depicts Baxter working in his laboratory.
Also If you know what the title of this post is referencing to, comment below! :p

Lemme say this and then Imma leave yâall alone: Ms. Vaggieâs mf hips and thighs in the show? Immaculate. Delicious. Thiccccccc as fuck. I keep replaying the scene where Charlie introduces Vaggie to Lucifer, and her hips in that skirt are delectable. I know the animators have been seeing the internet thirst after Vaggieâs thighs and hips, so I do hope they continue to serve the fans and serve us well. đ€€ That mini skirt does her justice and the poses that she has keeps me wanting more.
And you know what else Imma be honest about? In the first episode when Vaggieâs introduced (when sheâs saying âUhâŠyeah. I was right there.â), I replay that part, too, because that half-lidded smirk she does, does things to me. I WANT MORE OF THAT, VIV!
Sorry, didnât mean to turn this into a thirst anon; just wanted to show my appreciation for Vaggieâs fine self. âđ
There's really no need to apologize because I know exactly what you meaaaaaannnnn
Like????
Whoever decided to give her that miniskirt + thigh high combo all while having the Pixar Mom hip n thighs did not want us to survive
And I feel the same way about that scene. They really wanted to make sure Vaggie looked hot af in her very first scene in the show to remind us that Charlie's girlfriend is a baddie and I love that

I really try to understand and reread the Ken document to see where Vivâs supporters are coming from, but Iâm sorry, all I thought when I was done reading it is that Vivienne is just mentally unstable to the point where she canât carry a normal and steady conversation without either being petty or freaking out. I think thatâs why so many of her peeps and fans excuse her because they see her in a vulnerable state and see her say sheâs âshakingâ and that she canât handle this, so everyone coddles her and thinks that Ken must have said something to warrant a reaction like this out of VivzieâŠâŠ.expectâŠ.they didnât.
Ken never harassed or poked Vivzie, they never got angry and forceful, but when they reasonably give Viv VALID constructive criticism about how she should be crediting her artists since sheâs leading an INDIE team (and canât figure that out apparently since she compared herself to fucking Disney) apparently that was enough to send Vivzie off the edge immediately and think that Ken was attacking her, when Ken said it themselves, they were just talking to her. To have fans paint Ken out to be this needy person who demanded credit in unwarranted aspects is disgusting, because what they said in their document was true. They HAD been responsible for writing MAIN plot points, jokes, and ideas that all made their away into the final product, and the fact that they only got an âadditional writingâ credit rather than having their name up with Viv, Dave, and Raymond is bullshit.
Vivâs point she had made of Kenâs writing only being in the âearly stagesâ is literally a lie because what they wrote ended up in the final product, not only writing main jokes but Alastor being in the pilot and investing in the hotel, Angel being there for free rent and being the first hotel patron, Charlie trying to convince those of redemption ect. And then when the two brushed it aside, good olâ perfect Vivzie called Ken an abuser to others, saying false things behind their back while ALSO pretending to be nice to them upfront. Thatâs my biggest issue. Tell me one instance where Ken was âabusingâ Vivzie. They werenât, Viv is just so fucking emotionally sensitive with zero thick skin and sees anyone daring to criticize her as an attack, and sheâs STILL like that to this day. I really donât see how people can read a document of her not only tracing and not crediting someone, but talking lies behind someoneâs back while also being nice..and STILL support her, I really canât. And itâs funny when some of yâall think that we want Hazbin to cease to exist or Helluva to stop runningâŠ.noâŠ.we donât give a shit about the shows, we want Viv to get the consequences of her actions and her victims to get justice. We want her to own up to what sheâs done, especially the recent drama, and yet she never does cause in her eyes she can do no wrong. She always fucking acts like she did nothing wrong, or blames her behavior on everyone but herself. Sheâs a 30 year old woman, she acts like a child and needs to be kicked down a notch. She never learns from her experiences or gets better and it really is tiring to see people side with her EVERY single time, despite their being countless evidence clear as day that sheâs an entitled brat, with even ANOTHER spindle-member coming out and revealing that they were mistreated as well:
All I can say is that I hope more members are inspired to come out, and not afraid, especially since there are ex members who came out that we havenât heard a word from, like Salem Squidder, the person above, even Ashley Nichols. People need to realize that wether you like Viv or not, people were HURT by her, and she needs to come forward and confront it, not vague tweet and hide behind her fanbase, leaving everyone to fight her battles instead of herself.

My Final Post Regarding Velvette As a Character
And I must say it ends on a good note :) sort of.
Original twitter thread: https://twitter.com/OhTheSunnySide/status/1643798183674249216?t=ta0YMJ4NpmkticJXIuqqZQ&s=19
Oh the sunny side gave a wonder critique on hairstyles of ethnic characters on two upcoming indi animations, Far fetched and Pen pals forever. The critique came from a black person and was a sound and valid critique. The response from Ashley and Marie exemplifies how a creator especially one who is making or trying to make an independent animated series should respond to critique especially from ethnic voices.
Just look at these responses from both creators, so beautiful to see like this warmed my heart to see how Ashley and Marie took the critique. Marie said they will better even going as far as hiring the right people and Ashley stating that she'll revisit Piper's design in the final series. But sigh enough about this absolutely positive critique and creator response this is what should have happened with Velvette. Over so many years ethnic voices have critiqued Velvette's design in it lacking all ethnic features yet Viv wants to push she's a black woman. She was even hostile to an artist who redesigned Velvette from the leaked character sheets and said the person whitewashed Velvette in the redesign but she's bloody grey ashy toned in her original design like I cannot what. Anyhow her design still could've improved in the final series and...
Yeah nope. My point in all of this is listen to ethnic voices especially if you're an independent project because that is truly where you can make representation shine. Viv prides herself on starting Hazbin as an independent animated project and time and time again got wonderful criticism to better her especially ethnic characters like Vaggie, Val, Alastor, Niffty, Velvette and the list can go on. But she didn't she took all criticism from these voices as an attack on her and basically said "stuff your critique and wanting to see better more accurate representation my designs are perfect and need no changes". And I know Viv is half Salvadorian but that doesn't negate from the fact her ethnic characters are badly designed, Marie is Chinese but took that criticism with care and would better because she is not part of that ethnic group of one of her characters and is making a show that highlights representation so they will better the character's design, just beautiful to see. Viv as we all know doesn't take criticism well I get it but to shut out ethnic voices on designs you could've changed on so many occasions (basically over 10 years really since she had these characters for so long) is deeply insulting and heartbreaking. And that old excuse on "its just her artstyle" is bull its not even valid for a number of logical reasons if your artstyle cannot be pushed to incorporate ethnic features, I don't need to go into how bad that is.
In closing, listen to ethnic voices especially if you're making independent animated projects, animation on its own is unique medium to show representation without restrictions, its an open playing field you literally design the character you can do justice to representation. And if you're designing a character out of your ethnic group reach out, heck sometimes we make mistakes designing characters from our own ethnic group, ahm Vaggie. And lastly being independent you can get a lot more viewer feedback and engagement and that can be the most helpful. Marie and Ashley I hope live up to their word as I'm exited on both their series, wish Viv did the same but oh well we'll just be repeating ourselves, same old story thats set in stone hmm.
Edit: sorry if I used the wrong phrases or words, my English is on holiday now haha

â€ïžI Love You More Than Anything~â€ïž
One of the sweetest scenes in the show. I really wanted to capture its warmth and closeness. I hope I did it some justice. I tweaked a couple things for fun. They're a cute lil power coupleïżœïżœđ„șđ„ș đđŠ
(Also, don't come for me if you have a problem with Viv. Despite all of its flaws, I still love the show. There's a whole team of talented ppl behind it so to undermine them all just for ONE person is fuckin stupid, idc.đ€·)

I finally watched Helluva Boss recently, so of course I had to draw crossover fan art of Striker and Cad Bane, because of all the joke comparisons I've made of the two.....
and considering I've never seen anyone else draw these two in the same pic, I took it upon myself to do so.
trying to draw Striker in my style was a bit of a challenge, since Viv's style is so different from mine. Hope I did him some justice!
would these two duel against each other over who's the better cowboy? Or would they have a mutual respect for each other?

Man I loved Melanie Martinez music, and I listened to her new album, but after the SA allegations back in 2017 I just feel conflicted it hurts. The person who came out was victim blamed and slut shamed and called a liar because they had BD even though Melanie confessed that they had did stuff together but the person never said no to the stuff they did. It was sad seeing stand ruin a personâs life for coming out about their assault and than have Melanie do nothing about it. When she break up with Oliver Tree she begged her stand to not bully or harass him. Itâs necessary just viv just anyone that can buy thousands of dollars for tickets after someone was bullied and harassed and had their career ruined before it could start is really bleak and depressing
I did hear of this situation back when it JUST happened and even remembered a bunch of people burning their merch in support of the victim. Last I heard, I recall the victim was caught lying, but I have NO idea how true this is since the entire situation is very sensitive and overall complicated. I am an outsider in all of this, so I have no idea the full exact context nor how it was resolved/left behind at all. I do hope those who were harmed and bullied throughout that entire situation find justice cause bro that is truly messed up on many levels.

Man I got lucky this month, I got to read a bunch of excellent books, including some really neat queer novels. Nothing like a break to really get to kick back and enjoy reading for the sheer pleasure of reading rather than a desperate escape
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation manhua v1
Unsurprising to absolutely anyone whoâs been reading these, I picked up the first book of the manhua adaptation of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. It covers the first part of the first book, which basically amounts of Wei Wuxianâs revival and his flight from Mo Manor to the mountain and the Night Hunt. Besides for WWX, we get to meet Lan Wanji, the juniors, and Jiang Cheng, all of which have great designs. Like the rest of this series, it was a pleasure to read, the adaptation was done really well, and Iâm excited for the next volume.
The Ice Monster
This book was very⊠meh. I was pretty disappointed, because Iâve really enjoyed the other two books Iâve read by David Walliams so far, and this was probably the one I was most excited about, but it was⊠incredibly middling compared to the others.
The Ice Monster is about a Victorian orphan, Elsie, who escapes from the brutal orphanage she had been raised in and was making her way on the streets. During this time, a great mammoth that had been found in the Arctic was being transported to the museum for display. Elsie feels a kinship for this âmonsterâ and begins a series of events that lead to it being freed from the ice and set loose in London.
There were good moments in this book and Iâm sure a kid would enjoy it, but ultimately it felt like way too many fart jokes and not enough substance compared to Walliamsâ other books.
I Think Our Son Is Gay v2
A very sweet manga series Iâve been reading from the library. It follows the POV of a mother who suspects that her son is gay but who isnât quite ready to come out yet. Itâs a nice balance of humour â the art is cute and the characters have fun reactions to various silly things that happen in their lives â and love while still asking what it must be like to be gay in a homophobic society. A good read.
Legends & Lattes
SUCH a fun novel, it was exactly what I needed this month.
The story is about an orc mercenary called Viv who, after 20 years of fighting and killing, has had enough and is ready to settle down. Using the mysterious reward from her last adventure, Viv leaves her old company to find what she hopes will be the perfect city to open a coffee shop. Which is a daunting task in a part of the world that has never ever heard of coffee before and is suitably leery of this âbean waterâ.
If you want an action-packed, edge of your seat adventure book⊠donât read this. This is the epitome of âcosyâ fiction â its tag line is âhigh fantasy and low stakesâ. If you want a dnd coffee au in novel form thatâs about friendship and food⊠then this is THE perfect novel. It made me feel so warm and happy (and hungry).
Lucky Luke: The Oklahoma Land Rush // The Man Who Shot Lucky Luke
Lucky Luke is a BD series Iâve heard a lot about, and after seeing a couple episodes of it on Prime I decided I needed to actually pick up a volume or two. Iâm delighted I did and I think Iâll need to read more now!Â
The general premise is that of a western. The titular character, Lucky Luke, is a clever and nearly unflappable gun-slinger who can âshoot faster than his shadowâ. Luke gets into a range of silly, comedic Wild West adventures and inevitably comes out on top for the sake of justice. Naturally, the genre being what it is, the whole First Nations thing is⊠rough, but the books were enjoyable if you can look past that.
The first book I read was The Oklahoma Land Rush which is fairly indicative of the series I believe and is about Luke being hired to help police the desperate rush of settlers to claim land in Oklahoma. The second was The Man Who Shot Lucky Luke which was written by Matthieu Bonhomme instead of Morris and is a slightly grittier, more serious take on Luke. I enjoyed this one just as much â it still managed to be funny, but the stakes felt much higher. And the art was just stunning.
The Night Gardener
A fun, creepy middle grade horror. A story about two young Irish immigrants trying their best to survive in the absence of their parents. In a last desperate attempt to get work they find themselves way out at a desolate, crumbling English manor that has been almost completely consumed by a strange tree. The family there is as desolate and strange as the grounds, pale and sickly and carrying a mysterious secret. The siblings realise just how strange and dangerous this estate might be as theyâre drawn deeper into the secrets and begin to suspect that thereâs something else living and working on the groundsâŠ
I really like Jonathan Auxier's writing and Iâve been meaning to try this novel for years. I was glad to have finally done it.
Doctor Who: The Runaway Tardis
Just a cute little picture book. Pop Classics does some fun work and the art style really worked for Doctor Who. Itâs about a little girl who has moved and is struggling with needing to make whole new friends in a place she doesnât know. The themes of loneliness and goodbyes and needing to move on and make new friends was actually perfect to pair with Doctor Who; despite being quite simple and silly looking, it actually made me feel things for both the Doctor and the little girl.
Sandman v1/2
Everyone has been so hyped about The Sandman! Iâve been wanting to get in on it but Iâm not very good at sitting down and watching shows so I thought I might try the original comics. Honestly I should have known better. I donât really like this harsh style of American comics and if weâre being totally honest I donât generally like Gaimanâs longer prose. This, unsurprisingly, combined two things I donât like and ended up with a comic I didnât like. Things only went down hill when fucking Batman appeared. It didnât even really feel like it had the humour I would at least expect from Gaiman besides for a few brief glimmers. I appreciate that other people really like this series but oof. Not for me.Â
The Secret Garden
I love The Secret Garden, itâs one of those comfort books that I need to reread every few years. I was listening to it as an audiobook this time and it was so lovely to see the first signs of spring appearing while listening to this story. If you want something feel good I highly recommend starting it because we are in the season for it.
If youâve never read The Secret Garden, the premise is of a young, spoiled, but horrifically neglected child who was raised in British-occupied India. She is a bad-tempered, sour, and demanding child known to others as âMistress Mary quite contraryâ. When her parents die of a cholera outbreak she is sent back to England to live at her uncleâs manor on the Yorkshire moors. This relative is also distant and bitter, apparently hunchbacked and widowed. Once more alone, Mary is suddenly expected to do things for herself and isnât given her every demand â instead she begins to befriend the cheerful, plain-spoken maid and starts spending time outside, exploring and playing for what feels like the first time in her lifeâŠÂ  Â
Wallace & Gromit: Crackers in Space
I stumbled across this as an audiobook. After the fact I realised itâs also a comic. Oddly enough, the comic seemed profoundly bad â Iâve never really liked any of the Wallace and Gromit comics â but the audiobook version was a delight. It has the actual voice actor for Wallace, so it sounded completely like I had just put an episode on in the background that I had never watched before. They were also very clever about giving Gromit a âvoiceâ despite him being a non-verbal character! It was actually a lot of fun!
Wallace decides to attempt making his own cheese out in the garden shed⊠only things go badly, as theyâre wont to. Instead of making a lovely cheese, the whole thing ends up getting launched into the atmosphere because of a helium mishap⊠which might not be so bad if the zero gravity wasnât making the Home Brew Cheese Kit kick into overdrive. Theyâre going to have to figure out how to deal with the massive, mutated cheese comet thatâs now threatening all of West Wallaby Street.Â
Wave Me Goodbye
An absolutely charming book, I didnât want to put it down. This book takes place at the beginning of the Second World War, when children were being evacuated from London (which was at risk of bombing) and being sent out to live with volunteers in the country. Shirley is one of the children being sent out, but right from the beginning she finds herself struggling with feeling like the odd one out. She doesnât feel like she fits in with her rough-and-tumble classmates, and when she does make a new friend on the train itâs clear that she doesnât properly fit in with the posh covenant girls either. Things only get worse when she is one of the only children not picked to go with a family, and suddenly she and two other unwanted boys find themselves foisted on the unwilling inhabitants of the Red House. But in wartime, one has to make due, so she, Kevin, and Archie begin to explore this strange, half-empty house and get used to a very different way of life way out in the country.
Shirley is a huge reader in the book, and it actually made me pause reading to go and read some of the books she references! It was a lot of fun! Some of the books I read last month that Shirley reads are Ballet Shoes and The Squirrel, The Hare, and the Little Grey Rabbit. Itâs also what made me decide to reread The Secret Garden, since they feel like similar genres.
When the Angels Left the Old Country
I read some great books this month and it would be hard to say for certain which was my favourite since they were in quite different genres, but this would be a strong contender. Holy shit was it good. The tl;dr is that itâs a bit like a Jewish Good Omens but also nothing like that at all.
The Angel (as angels donât have permanent names, but rather names that describe what they are currently doing) and the demon Little Ash have been study partners for centuries, happily existing in their little Shtetl without feeling much need to change things. But things are changing and with the press of poverty and rise of violent anti-Semitic feelings many residents of the Shtetl are now leaving for America in the search of work and safety. Little Ash is determined that they should join these immigrants, and when a member of their Shtetl goes missing on her own voyage it seems inevitable that they go and track her down to ensure she is safe and well.
At its heart this is an immigrant story about people and prejudice and love, and itâs really written beautifully, the way you see all the hardship that goes into such a voyage even for supernatural beings.

hiii hellloooo hiii didja see what tweet medrano just today liked over on the website formerly known as twitter?? :3
(Going Ooc for this one)
I'm not on Twitter or X or whatever that trashman calls it, so I did not see that Viv liked this so thanks for bringing it to my attention. Kinda makes me feel we might get some more nuance with Striker in canon which I would love but either way, I agree with this.
Technically he is still making unfair assumptions on an entire demographic, but it's not out of sense of superiority, or not completely, clearly some pain there so yeah, despite all that he's done, he's still a victim who deserves justice for whatever happened to him, and I hope he gets it, on the actual people, not people he projects on like Stolas.
(Also lowkey I feel starstruck, I adore your art so much and I need to reblog some on here, thanks so much for the ask X//P)
#~gold. grins. and grit~ [striker]#~hello onlooker!~ [ask]#honestly love this#pain manifests in many ways#and unfortunately a lot are really ugly

As a neutral 3rd party looking over your anecdotal vivzie drama. I am so sorry to say but almost all of your serious claims are unfounded and baised off your own subjective opinions. I don't care about hazbin or helluva boss or whatever, but this critical community is by far the most toxic thing I've ever read in my entire life. Including that 17 year old who admitted to doxxing, and making deepfakes of artists who posted selfies trying to ruin their lives. And also in the same sentence fantazing about vivziepop getting brutally sexually assaulted and murdered. They made fanfics about that. While everyone came in and babied them and told them it's okay because vivziepop deserves it all.
I am genuinely appalled. I didn't even know who she was until maybe 4 days ago when an artist friend of mine got the most vitriol hatred for an innocent art piece of Charlie she posted. I'm trying to understand the hatred and educate myself. But all I see is an artist who was defensive over her OCs in 2018 that you all are pining unfair blame on fandom doings onto.
The critical community is genuinely worse than HetaStuck in the 2010s. You all seem so blinded by your hatred that it's clouding your sense of human decency or mortality. Especially to artists. My friend did not deserve the death and violent threats she got in her DMs. This isnt even just for you, but the whole community. I hope you all grow up and get help.
Being critical about media is important. You don't need to agree or like everything being produced. But this isn't objective criticism. This is dangerous, half of these messages read like a school shooter manifesto disguised as performative social justice.
"I'm a neutral third-party who has no dog in this fight and just learned about Viv five minutes ago and I think you're all just dumb jealous haters harping over Viv drama from 2018 and I'm totally not a stan at all."
You guys have got to get better at lying, or at least a better script to read from. I checked off an entire bingo card with this one.
On the paper thin chance that you're serious about learning why people criticize Vivienne Medrano, my advice is to actually read the receipt Twitter and stop assuming everyone who breathes a negative word about this woman condones the actions of crazy people, because I certainly don't.

âWill you put this on, so I can see the difference?ââšââšI really wanted to see Vivienne in a dress where the front isnât too revealing but the BACK is where itâs at yâknow?? Or at least this is what I imagined during the prologueâŠ.
