finally finished tracing out the skirt embroidery!

there was a lot of adjusting i had to do to this to make it symmetrical and also just... make sense (seriously look at the original skirt for a few seconds and you'll start seeing all the places where its.... weird) but im super happy with my results! im planning on using this (or at least elements of it) on the rest of the costume to tie the thing together!

in the end, i couldnt get the lower flower to come out in a way i liked that also felt cohesive with the rest of the design, so i left it off, but i think its just as good without! you can see my first attempt at it in one of the templates below the cut though, if youre interested!

this was fun! idk if anyone other than me will find use in this, but it was worth it anyway,i learnt a lot about using the path tool in the process of making this & already have some future plans for the things i picked up on.

-One example being early on in their friendship, Henry asked for her a opinion on a art piece, expecting her to just compliment it as most of his friends would, until she started asking “why did one of the hand he drew looked weird” and “why did it the whole piece look off center?” Henry started laughing and appreciated her honest criticism.

-Linda has definitely modeled for Henry and gives him inspiration and advice on what clothes his subjects should wear in his work.

I’ve been holding this off for a while mainly cause I was afraid of doing it but I finally pulled through and now I have a story to share with ya’ll explaining what happened during my hold at the mall!

I went dressed in black leggings and a sweater, bummer that it wouldn’t show I know but i was nervous! I had drank some before leaving my house so by the time I had arrived at the mall i was already feeling the need.

To make sure I was going to suffer (I know i know im a masochist bite me) i drank an entire water bottle i brought with me in the car before actually heading into the mall. So yada yada time passes and im trying to figure out what to do at the mall and I go get myself a drink at the food court then i head off to look around the stores.

About an hour in the mall and its starting to feel pretty urgent but not bursting so i decided hey, why not play a game with myself, and got into a bathroom line. However once i actually went into a stall i just sat there fully clothed not doing anything, still holding it in then shortly after left. Trust me i was getting pretty bored here to have to do that.

I got another drink and finally after finishing it I was getting antsy, crossing my legs and shuffling my feet while i sat at a table.

Anyways so Im pretty desperate, i take a seat at the food court again and get ONE MORE drink, and as im sipping on it im squirming in my seat cross legged, im sure anyone who’s into omo would immediately catch on if they saw me.

Just a little bit later im scrolling through my phone with my other hand on top of my lap (not between my legs just yet)

Now Im REALLY anxious because its getting to the point where I know im going to have an accident soon so i get up and just start walking around with my chest aching from nervousness. I even stared at the bathroom in contemplation before walking away.

A couple minutes of aimless walking and i end up having to sneeze.. needless to say a little bit escaped but i stopped it albeit i looked a little silly. My heart dropped during it too.

About ten or twenty so minutes and i have to go REAAALLY bad and im super anxious, i even entered a bathroom line thinking i didnt want to actually wet myself but after a couple minutes of waiting in line i felt another leak which automatically prompted a hand to crotch response, you can imagine my embarrassment.

After the leak I was honestly horrified but also having a LOT of fun, i was close to having an accident so I decided to try to find a secluded area in the mall to hang around in for when i lose control. Each step i took was agony to take but i kept movin, slightly bent over too.

Eventually i found an area where not alot of people were, there were still some but it wasnt as crowded as the other areas. It was like this dead end section with nothing of interest other than a few benches and stores.

I stayed here for about a couple minutes, mild panicking, hella anxious, and kiiiind of excited. Thats when i started losing control. I was kind of in a little corner where a protrusion of wall was blocking me but if you’d still be able to see me if you walked closer to the dead end.

It was a mix of terrified excitement when i tried to stop the flow but couldnt. The sounds of my pee hitting the floor wasnt helping. I dont think anyone actually noticed plus since I was wearing black leggings it wasnt super noticeable. I promptly rushed my way out of the mall keeping my head down leaving behind that puddle.

When i got back to my car i put out the towel i had stored in my trunk over my driver seat so i wouldnt ruin my car seats and kind of just sat in the car thinking about what happened. At the end i actually found the experience really enjoyable and might do it again ;)

so it started almost 4 years ago when i was depressed and couldnt eat normally so i was super skinny, then i started getting better so i would eat more and i picked up like few kgs and then all the problems with my looks started i was bmi 20 so not that big but i felt bad because i didnt like the way i look so obviously i started dieting and then pretty fast i got myself into 4na because when i was depressed i wouldnt eat so i went with it and not a lot time it took me to find 4n4blr and 3dtwt, at first it was like a dream i was so good at it and everything was superior, then i started to binge eat so i also started purg1ng often and yeah in 4 months i think i got to my ugw and to bmi 16 but i tried to be more healthy then cause i still didnt like the way i looked so i thought maybe i need to gain? because then i was happier so i did andd this shit started again because gaining made me feel worse (i was pretty young at the time), then i remember my body was so tired that i couldnt eat without v0mit1ng even that i didnt want to do it i couldnt eat a little more because i got sick (i had few embarrassing things happen because of this for example v0m1ting to the food on a plate while eating) but i slowly got better, then it was all losing/maintaining but i learned a lot during that times, then i was back in the game all great and everything (fainted 2 times) and then something really bad happened to me so i started b1nging due to stress and maintained a lot and from then i was so tired of all of this and couldnt get out of the binging cycle that i had chosen trying to rec0ver, but it was like 9 months ago and now im back so whatever

hey acti, i hate to be a downer when we're already fighting an uphill battle, but i guess i just wanted a fellow vegan to hear this :/

i dated someone this past year, and he knew i was vegan from the start, even when we were just friends, and it was never a problem; he surprised me with a vegan meal prep made with beyond meat once, would clean the grilling utensils when he was making animal-based burgers and I was having a plant-based one, and even, when we went out to eat and they got my order wrong and served me something with meat, put his hand on mine and said he knew i was frustrated and was sorry. fast forward five months and after we'd had a conversation where i told him in a hypothetical completely vegan world, we wouldn't be farming animals for agriculture so livestock animals like cows would sort of go extinct (which started with another hypothetical where i would either have to be super sick for a month or eat a piece of steak and be instantly cured, to which i answered id be sick for the month), he decided i was "radical" and we weren't compatible because he "didn't want his kids to be exposed to veganism". i'd even told him i would compromise (because ive always wanted to raise my kids vegan) in that when i would cook, the food would be vegan, and when he would cook, it wouldnt, and that wasnt good enough. there were other issues and red flags not related to veganism (though he was always making "joking" comments about how he'd "break me of veganism" by cooking a really good steak and convincing me to eat it), but it just really sucks! like vegans are the ones who get the bad wrap as supposedly being "extreme" - i shouldve been the one upset and bothered according to their stereoptypes for us, but it was him! carnists are just so close-minded and hypocritical its really unbelievable.

i really thought it could work if we just respected each other, but he, like most everyone, wasnt interested in genuine conversations or respect. and its so depressing because now i fear every other relationship i enter with a nonvegan will end the same! how can having compassion and respect for nonhuman animals make us so wrong in their eyes? i know it would probably be smarter to only date other vegans but i couldnt help falling in love with him. and the vegan dating pool is so small and spread out, and i dont live in a big, progressive city! im sorry to complain so much, its just a really exhausting reality.

I’m sorry that it ended this way anon, it sounds like you’ve been through a lot with this one.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think that this sort of situation, as awful as it is, is anything inherent in being vegan. You had fundamentally opposing worldviews, relationships between people like that can last and be good for a while, but there will always come an issue that they’ll be split on and can’t compromise. He was unfair and handled it poorly, but even had he been more patient with you and more honest, it sounds like you just weren’t right for one another.

Not every non-vegan sees us this way, and plenty of people do navigate successful relationships with non-vegans. They can’t be anti-vegan though is the issue, and from what you’ve described here, it sounds like that is very much what he was. He would need to have at least been sympathetic to veganism and have a positive outlook on animal rights in general. He’d also need to have known what your intentions would be with any children, though it’s admittedly tricky to know when to bring that up.

Dating another vegan would of course be ideal, but someone who respects you and what you believe in, and crucially is honest about that, is all you really need. Everything else can be subject to compromise, but it sounds like that key thing was what was missing from this. It sucks that you had to find out a year in, but at least you know now before it went any further.

Okay so now you know the characters but theres a lot of newsies! How are you supposed to keep track of them?

Don’t panic because i have just the thing for you!

I will list the way to spot certain characters for 92’sies and live’sies and partly UK’sies! Pick out the ones you want/need to keep track off and only memorise those!

Starting with 92’sies!

So Jack shouldn’t be hard to find because he’s the main character but if you ever have a scene with a lot if them: Jack has a Cowboy Hat and a Red Bandana around his neck.

Racetrack has a Cigar and a Pocket-Watch. He hangs out around Kid Blink, Mush, Jack or Skittery a lot.

Mush is hard to loose but if you do idk how to describe him lol. He is the Cutie with them Muscles

Kid Blink has an Eyepatch and he’s Blond.

Specs is one of the two people with Black Hair that wear Glasses. He is the one with the Longer Face. He says “since when did you become me motha” and “that’s an unusual name fa these parts…”

Boots is short and has some sort of Role to the rest of the newsies (i couldnt tell you what it is though) the only description the script says aboit him is “Boots, black” (💀) he Goes To Brooklyn with Jack and Davey.

Crutchie-suprise suprise- is the guy with the Crutch.

Skittery is one of the few newsies that isn’t super short. He’s Not Tall But Next to The Others He Looks Like It. He’s the one in the Bad Mood who asks “what’s that get’cha” in King Of New York

Bumlets is the Ballet guy. He does the Pirouettes on the Fan during King Of New York and is one of the guys who Cover Jack when Snyder comes to look for him at the lodge.

Swifty is the Only Asian Person (i think) he has Ripped Clothes and his Hat Looks Different from the others

Snaps is the guy that Snaps at the beginning. He wears Purple or Pink Button-Up’s and a Top Hat

Pie Eater is the guy who reacts when Jack calls for Pie Eater lol. He Covers Jack with Davey and Skittery after the rally when the cops try to get him. He Looks A Lot Like Tommy Bracco that’s how I recognise him🤷

Snipeshooter is one of the Smaller Kids. He’s the guy who Steals Racetracks Cigar at the beginning and the one who asks “how ‘bout a crooked politician?”

Tumbler is the Tinyest Newsie who Slides From The Back and the guy from the Cover. (It’s interesting that he’s on the cover and doesn’t even have a canonical name….)

Dutchie has Blond Hair and Glasses

Goldie looks like Dutchie Without The Glasses

Now moving on to Live’sies!

Jack is Jeremy Jordan. Pretty hard to miss tbh.

Race, again, he has a Cigar. This time he’s Tall and Blond.

Spot is Short. Oh and Buff. Very buff. Can’t forget that. He wears Red (all of brooklyn does.)

Romeo is Short and always Flirts. He says “well hello hello hello, beautiful” and “me thinks the lady needs ta be handled by a uhm, real man!” (“How’d she know ma name?”)

Mush is Snarky?? Idk much to say but he’s the one who says “Sirens is like Lullabies ta me[…]” and “but we sure scared the bajibas outa weasel!”

Albert has Red Hair but you can barely ever see it because he wears a hat. The important thing about the Hat is that it’s Backwards! He’s one of the guys that you can see the Arms well (Big Arms) and a Sharp Jawline. He only Talks Woth One Side Of His Mouth. He Steals Race’s Cigar at the beginning and says “Sure buy a tickit dey led anyone iin!” And “take it down a knotch, shortstop! I’m just reportin’ tha news!” He’s one of the Really Good Dancers

Mike and Ike are the Twins. Yk the ones that Exist Twice. Basically the difference is that Ike (David Guzman) wears a Blue hat and a striped shirt and Mike (Jacob Guzman) wears a Brown Hat and ‘white’ shirt. They do the tricks inbetween the scenes and are shirtless a lot lol.

Hotshot wears Red. He’s the guy Next To Spot who’s Rly Tall (especially next to spot lol)

Smalls is the (‘)guy(’) who Plays The Spoons.

Sniper is the guy with the Funny Face (that sounds so mean wtf???) he has very Defined Features. He’s one of the Scabs and says “My old man’s gonna kill me anyway!”

York has an Eyepatch. He isn’t in the proshot i think:(

Specs is like the Only Black Newsie and he wears Glasses.

Finch is one of the White Guys That I Couldn’t Keep Apart™️ (together with Buttons, Sniper, Mush, Jojo and some others) He has a Slingshot. he has a Sharper Jaw and says “Try bottle ally or the harbour” and “why do old people talk?”

Elmer is Tiny Cute Dude who you don’t even realise he’s Buff because he’s so Adorable lmao. He says what says “AND DEAD” way to enthusiastically and “Oh i dunno sista but its bounda rain soona or lata”

Buttons has the Longest Face out of the White Guys I Couldn’t Keep Apart ™️. Tbh idk how else to describe him. He says “when she fished us out”

Jojo is one of the Taller ones. He wears a grey shirt?

Kenny is Darcy later🤷

Graves is the red Brooklyn Version of Elmer (literally. Like they have the Same Actor jsut the difference is that he Wears Red now)

Alvin/Bart is basically Kenny In More Buff (and brooklyn so he Wears Red)

Myron is the Tallest Brooklyn Newsie and wears a Blue Bandana around his Neck (gay) and a Red Shirt obv

Henry is Skittery in live’sies form. He’s the one in the Bad Mood in King Of New York and says “Pastrami on Rye wit’a sour pickle!”

Tommy boy is basically Albert with a Forward Hat. He’s so a Really Good Dancer and he does the Pirouettes On The Paper in Seize The Day

And for UK’sies i’m only gonna do the brooklyn ones bc they’re girlsies

aot before the fall review in no particular order(mostly cuz im mad)

SPOILERS

xavi was introduced in the story as nothing but an antagonist that wanted to kill kuklo and basically saw him as an annoying bug. then when the wallists came and killed most of his family + kuklo left with sharle, he LOATHED him. in total xavi came at kuklo meaning to kill him 3 or 4 times?? THEN ALL THE SUDDEN in one of the last arcs (the training one) xavi suddenly is working together with him?? yeah he said it was for sharle, but it'd be just as easy to whisk her away during the expedition or something. why suddenly did he start caring so much about the future of humanity, the survey corps, and the odm gear?? because his boss liked him? bffr. BOOO. in the final confrontation, youre telling me xavi and kuklo happened to kill a titan together and suddenly xavi likes and approves of him WHEN JUST A MOMENT BEFORE he was determined to kill him???????? THEN X A V I of all people tore down MP corruption? XAVI? CHARACTER ASSASSINATION I TELL YOU. what a fucking disappointment.

NOW IM THINKING ABOUT THE FINAL CHAPTER.

the second half of the final chapter is nothing but an exposition dump in the form of a letter from sharle to a friend. major shit happens (like the major plot point with gloria being murdered) just GLOSSED OVER in a brief explanation. so annoying

goddamn the training arc went on for foreverrrr. SUCH A DRAG!!!!!!! it was like a lot was happening while nothing was happening. after the underground arc, the pacing went from say 80 to -999999. god i was so bored. i glossed these two volumes at parts because i was so bored. it was supposed to be a time to get to know the characters and figure out who was working against the survey corps, and while that twist was very smart, i wasn't happy. i expected this resolution BECAUSE OF COURSE the survey corps never gets dissolved. OF COURSE the odm gear would work. there was absolutely no tension.

for two volumes, i couldnt find myself caring about these new characters (like rosa, kurz, ivo...).

like when felix almost got eaten. like okay? he fell into that same category of cadets that werent fleshed out enough at all and i felt ambivilent when he sacrificed himself for rosa

ROSA. the plot wanted her to be important and interesting sooooo bad. suggesting a love triangle for the main pair, her importance as maria and sorum's daughter, the multiple times it was insisted she was discriminated against for being a woman (despite that NEVER having come up in all of the 50 chapters before that. if this was consistent, i'd feel differently. it's the best conflict that has to do with her character though).

i really didn't care what her motivations were for killing the titans because i didn't care about her. she's just... uninteresting. so broody. and why? because she got bullied by the boys? for several chapters until she became friends with sharle she did nothing but disappear and feel sorry for herself. maybe it's me, but it was just annoying.

yeah maria (her mom) disapproved of her joining the scouts, and it was interesting to see what maria would think after losing her husband to the titans too, but i kind of figured that would work out (and it did - in just one scene).

why the hell was she made a squad leader right off the bat????? her performance was NOT great, i mean failing at the odm tests multiple times, passing out during one of the training runs... it seems like the plot wanted her to be important (due to her parents) so she was made a squad leader.

shallow and boring. my least favorite character.

the lore is BY FAR THE GREATEST PART OF BEFORE THE FALL. it could be partly because aot is my biggest hyperfixation so i was super super interested by default, but the way btf expanded on the lore - the process of the odm invention, where the iceburst stone and ultra hard metal comes from, what the underground is like, etc - was superb and i loved every crumb.

angel is my favorite character. im not going to complain that btf wasnt referenced in canon more because i dont think thats fair to isayama and his editors, as all isayama did was approve what the writer and artists did. angel is a genius who contributed the most to the odm gear. i wanted so badly for him to leave the underground, overcome his guilt over corina and sorum's deaths, and work together with the main characters to advance the survey corps. he suffered so damn much and he overcame it. he's extremely interesting, well-written, and blorbo worthy.

im glad kuklo was also written extremely well since he was the main character. i only wish that he struggled MORE to adjust what life is like outside of a cage being treated as a freakshow act for being known as the son of a titan. it seemed like as soon as he and sharle escaped, he was the conventional shonen boy. which was pretty disappointing. you'd think kuklo would be awkward and unsocialized or distrusting of people for the abuse and isolation he went through, but he was perfectly fine. near the end, he had no more development and it seemed he blended way into the background, but thats not necessarily a complaint. it was rewarding to see him finally become a scout along with cardina.

loveeee cardina. he's just great. i don't have any complaints about him. despite not going in-depth about his past or who he is - i still cared about him, while i CANT say the same about rosa and the cadets introduced much later.

i have so much to say about the uprising arc. it was underwhelming it seriously came WAY out of nowhere. characters were introduced way too fast, appearing in one chapter and in the next one dying. the same can definitely be said of main aot, but the difference is i CARED about what happened to characters like nifa, willy, and pastor nick. the writing for these characters just ISNT there. i didn't care what the dissidents wanted because i never saw them struggle, or find out WHO THEY WERE. they werent fleshed out. i simply didnt care. they failed. boo hoo. mortiz was entertaining, but to me, mostly because it was like a trainwreck i couldnt look away from. his downfall was entertaining and i liked it.

the first arc with kuklo being imprisoned, meeting sharle, and escaping was my favorite next to the underground arc. it was sooo fun to see sharle try to navigate the underground and finding allies. even though her intentions were pretty naive (i guess?) i was rooting for her and cared that she survived.

carlo, his dad pikale - GREAT characters. was always super interesting to learn more about pikale since he's known as this legendary figure who killed a titan first, and as that was expanded upon and we learned that it was actually sorum and angel was super fun. carlo is a great commander and i liked him a lot too.

i thought sharle was annoyingly useless early on, but when she went against xavi after being captured and braving the underground was where her character rly started to grow and that was fun. she went from cowering at the sight of a titan she saw from the wall to resourceful and independent which felt natural. also seeing her become a craftsman and become her own person outside being from nobility.

maybe this is also just me, but the romance in this story WASNT for me. i wish it wasnt shoved in my face so much how much tension there was between kuklo and sharle to get together. like... we knew that was going to happen. also she was the damsel in distress so many times it felt contrived to me. but they were cute at times (especially with the side stories) and their romance was believable.

the problem came in when rosa was introduced and she took a liking to kuklo. MAYBE also just me... but love triangles are so boring and my least favorite romance trope. i didnt care about this subplot whatsoever and had me rolling my eyes at most points. it was nice to see rosa and sharle become friends instead, and having rosa realize she just wanted to BE kuklo instead of wanting to be with him. that was great.

the art? WOW amazing!!!!! its not that the art style compared to isayama was refreshing so much as super fun and creative. my favorite was how more horrifying the titans were portrayed than even in main aot. i have 0 complaints about it. i loved it

before the fall definitely started out extremely strong, dipped down during the uprising arc, and shined again after that UP UNTIL the training arc after kuklo got majorly injured. from there it was a TOTAL fall from grace. the final chapter was rushed, glossed over, and it sucked.

overall... i enjoyed it, but i wouldn't read it again. i can definitely reccomend it to aot fans who are interested in the lore most of all, but if youre a casual fan who wants a story like main aot or even no regrets (which was mainly character centered), you will be incredibly disappointed.
