Eyy a step by step painting process for yall. I’ve seen a lot of new beginners when it comes to painting lately and that makes me really happy too see bcs its a really useful technique. My english isnt the best so if anything is unclear dont be afraid to ask. 

Lets start with the tools you’ll need. Ofc the color wheel (or whatever shape its in the program you’re using), a textured brush or one who’s opacity is controlled by pen pressure, and the color picking tool/color selector tool. I recommend having a button for the last one bcs its gonna be used a lot. 

Normally I use a textured brush, but for this one I went with a hard square one to make it more clear how I work. Its one of the default brushes in krita. 

First, make a quick sketch, dont put too much detail into it bcs its all gonna be painted over eventually anyway. If you’re someone who have a bad habit of putting too much detail into the sketch, use a thicker brush. That way you wont be able to spend too much time on it. 

Next lower the opacity of the sketch and throw on some colors on a new layer. Keep the colors muted, we’re gonna be building them up as we go. At this point its also good to leave the mindset of cell shading at the door. The base colors, light, shading, its all the same step. I honestly recommend painting on one layer to not start separating them, but its not a requirement.  Having a background is very helpful when painting, even if its just one color. It helps keeping the colors balanced and its easier to see if you are using too saturated or too bright colors.  Make sure the brush you’re using is somewhat big. Let it get smaller and smaller though the entire process. You wanna save the smaller details towards the end. Treat the picture as clay. 

Now the fun begins! Start building up the colors and three dimentionality as you go. A good thing to keep in mind is that a surface that is facing away from you is gonna be darker than the surface facing you. This isnt always super visible depending on where the light comes from, but take any cylindrical object (ex: toilet paper roll) and really look at it and you will see it. 

If two light sources meet, add a a dark border to separate them. Now is also the time to start adding more colors. Dont go full out with them, let them build up through the process. I usually use layer effects to help with the building process, but dont rely too much on it. Remember: this is painting, not cell shading. 

Keep building up the piece with a larger brush until you get to a point where you feel like no more can be done. Now its time to start cleaning the edges and add the details.  I usually end up adding some more highlights at this point. Remember that light bounces. If you look at the hair you can see that the colors of the forehead have been reflected onto it. 

And then the very last step, throw on some layer effects. I went with an overlay with blue and green splotches and a big splotch with a blue luminosity layer in the middle. Ofc you can keep going and making it look even cleaner than this but its not a requirement, whenever you feels its done its done. If you use a textured brush the edges between light and shadows wont be as visible as in this pic. 

Now go my children! Paint! Experiment! And use references!

when ever one of the kids tries to facetime billy, he always put the phone straight to his ear. every time without fail. steve is better at that part but he’s so much worse than billy in the realm of modern technology it’s not even funny.

siri? don’t even bother. steve will say her name wrong every time. hey serious. call dustin. hey cyprus. send text to billy (heart emoticon). hey sorry... “Siri is a dumb name” he’ll say when he’s corrected. and he’ll be absolutely livid every time it doesn’t work. claiming the phone is broken.

billy has one (1) game on his phone and it’s solitaire. and he hates it because the cards are too small to read. he’ll try to play a game and get so fed up he’ll pull out the set of playing cards and play it the old fashioned way.

steve, even in our year of 2020, thinks ms paint is one of gods greatest gifts to society. “god didn’t create ms paint dad” shut up! he can sit on the computer and play around with that shit for hours.

billy is a pinball wizard... on pc. (alexa play pinball wizard by The Who) and he’d never been more furious with his kids ever in his entire life than when they figured out a game hack and beat his high score.

steve loves online shopping... so much... it becomes a problem. and boy he’s so gullible he’s been scammed on multiple occasions. “steve how could you honestly think you could get an autographed guitar from elvis for only $20?”

billy doesn’t quite understand what a status update on Facebook is. he’ll really just post. “migraine.” or “dinner.” and spam the fuck out of everyone’s timeline with all of it.

steve loves minion memes. steve is a middle aged mom and I will not be accepting criticism at this time.

per their kids rules... because let’s face it. billy and steve are not the ones in charge... they are not allowed to have: twitter or instagram. those are their kids safe havens and they will not be contaminated by their fathers.

but they do have snap chat. billy and steve love playing with the filters and have streaks with all their kids. it’s a fun way for them to be able to check in on their kids daily and see their happy faces. the two used it as a medium for sending nudes to each other until one day where billy nearly sent a pic to his fourteen year old son. nope. never. again.

their kids made them a family tik tok account and they get very popular. everyone in the comments “simping” for steve or billy. they don’t know what that means despite their children trying to explain it on multiple occasions. there are all out wars about who is the hotter dad. (steve learns the wap dance. once again,,, no criticism will be accepted this is canon). billy has that shit saved in his phone to watch over and over again (to their kids utter disgust).

but still, they are without a doubt technologically incompetent. and their kids hate when they constantly ask them to teach them sometimes. “google it old man” but two weeks later when their daughter can’t figure out how to use the VCR they turn it right back on her.

omg hiii <333 this got LONG so i will put it under the cut. it's on you for inviting me to ramble about my boards they are a labor of love they bring me soo much joy and this ask has made my night <333

first i made a pinterest board on my super secret pinterest acc (will NOT be linking, its got some very cringe stuff from days past) and at first i just put pics of anna and mary then i searched up angelcore then i took a few pics from my own pin library that i felt gave the Vibes (like all those lonely lit up houses) and then i kept on adding things that i thought matched my aesthetic and now my board is pretty cool looking if i do say so myself :) then i went through my larger board and found pics i thought went well together, i started w the 4 yellow ones bc i wanted to do a 3x3 at first but those 4 just went so nicely and evenly together that i just left it. the first one was literally just vibes but i wanted a sort of ominous feeling, the kissing women being anna and mary, the eyes being anna, the nervous amy gumenick picture being mary, the angel tattoo being a possible representation of their relationship... the fingers gripping the arm conveying that same urgency... i can see mary getting a tattoo especially post-resurrection i think it would be nice for her to have something john never touched. she always told dean that angels were watching over him and i like to think that was a reference to anna :)

that same day i also made my next one, the purple one, in which i included an edit by @sarahblakes which is also my header and by then id decided i was going to make all the colors of the rainbow and i had good purple stuff on my board. so i picked out my 9 fav purple pins on the board and saved them to my desktop with names like m2-1 and so on so i could keep track of them and opened a photo post, put them all in, and moved them around until i liked them. i rearranged it a bunch of times to get it right honestly. again i wanted to convey a sort of fraught urgency, but a little more cosmic now- the hands reaching out to each other are anna and mary, obviously. the stained glass window and church are for anna, the suburban neighborhood for mary, and the art piece of the woman reminded me of mary burning on the ceiling. the first one was smaller and more intimate to me. ive always loved purple it's just such a mystical color i think. again i included the angels watching over you line. i included 8 pictures in this moodboard because they were all different sizes (i save images directly from pinterest and credit where i can, but even with reverse image search a lot of them time finding the original is just not possible) the 4-format didnt work. anyways, i had more pictures for this one.

the next one: red. i almost did a taylor swift, red, reference in the caption, but i restrained myself. i did however include the yonic book painting from portrait of a lady on fire. for lesbian rights. this one im personally really in love with: red represents both anger/violence and love/desire in a way i think annamary really embodies. the photo of the redheaded girl playing the video game is just sooo anna to me: searching for those deeply human experiences. i love the painting with the two characters, one threatening the other with a gun, because that basically did happen in canon. another angel in the middle, red like the moodboard, two vintage-y blonde girls for mary, and of course anna, impaled. loving her was red, indeed. this one again had 8 images because i wanted to keep anna and mary together in the bottom row.

and now, blue. regina spektor caption!! blue, the most human color. anna deeply wanted to be human. she ripped out her grace to truly experience the world. mary meahwhile wanted safety, represented by the various suburban houses. i LOVE the look of this board: blue is also one of my favorite colors. i like how the glowing hands reaching around the moon mirror the image of the wings, but i didnt plan that when i picked the images, i chose them and then arranged them. i loveee houses that look lonely and haunted, lit up from the inside on a blue-dark night. suburban gothic is an aesthetic im obsessed with and it really fits mary and her cookie-cutter motherhood dreams that were heaven sent and wrong for her. the "im still here" sign across from the angel wings one makes a nice visual parallel and i also included it to include the scene where anna proclaims "there's still me" oh anna i love you so deeply.

okay so dimensions r a thing tumblr compresses photos like hella so i do all my still img aesthetics 900x900 is you’re trying to do this for say insta i would actually recommend jumping up to 1080x1080. pixels, obviously. idk if i have to clarify that.

so click ctrl+n or create new i’ll be doing 900x900

these r the rest of my settings i personally do not think they matter my resolution stays at 72 the only thing i’ve detected this affecting is font size. (side note notice how this pic looks all fuzzy? that’s bc it’s a ss with a boatload of pixels. and if there’s one thing tumblr hates. it’s pixels. and then it’s users. but who’s counting? tumblr is. i recommend keeping ur still images 900x900♥)

step two is collecting ur images i personally use pinterest for these bc quite frankly it’s really nice & easy to find these types of photos esp if you’re looking for a canon character bc if you type in [character name] aesthetic you’ll get stuff if you don’t quite frankly even just type in aesthetic you can scroll until you find an image you like click on that and go through like images underneath it and keep burning thru. like u probably know how to work pinterest. but i am being thorough and covering my bases. searching [color] aesthetic is also nice or even searching a character that isn’t the character you’re doing this for but who’s kind of similar that also works. i recommend esp for charmed bc their pinterest gets bogged down with screencaps and then like. charms like jewelry searching “charmed aesthetic” or “phoebe halliwell aesthetic” really just doesn’t cut it so what i’d recommend is instead of going through pins, go through boards.

bc like. big difference. other pro tips if you see a board you like, go to the person’s profile and check out their other boards bc odds are you’ll find more you like. another protip if you’re specifically doing ocs typing in oc aesthetic will get you a lot even going to the boards on that as well. yields.

so. you’ve gathered ur images. u need five. open em. i’m making an aesthetic 4 myself which you’ve probably already guessed from the fact i’m putting the finished piece at the top, but it’s not ready yet so it’s still a surprise for me. 

cropping. if ur doing a 900x900, use these setting exactly. 1080x1080 use 1080/2 x 1080/3. i’m not doing the math 4 u ♥

most important part? Delete Cropped Pixels. otherwise ur not really doing anything. crop all five images.

but them in ur document. document? psd? ur thing ♥ place them places. u do not have to commit now. leave one middle one blank. it does not matter which one. i personally like to alternate my text pieces if i’m doing a long post like what i did on my ncwotng set. some people keep them all on the same side. this lowkey bugs me i feel like it throws off the Balance but i imagine some people like The Consistency. i don’t. but w/e. it’s up to u as this is gonna be ur set. also like. as you’ve cropped these to x/2,x/3 settings they should fit nice like puzzle pieces : )

the next step i personally like doing is creating by text box with The Color™ do this bc simply duplicating one of ur images, shoving it in the empty slot, and converting into a sharp object. edit contents.

now. obvi i selected these images w a color scheme in mid. i recommend u do the same. even if it’s just vague. they don’t all have 2 fit. this is my example of my sheridan piece b4 or after. tweaking is possible. layers w masks r ur friend. i can talk about them more if need be.

But. back 2 the smart object. brush tool. paint it.

the text i used was times new roman all caps 40pt font 0 spacing for the title and times new roman 14pt font 0 spacing italics for the subheading. here’s my dency b4 and after for comparison

next step is after you have your text in alright, shove everything into groups. mode on “normal”

then you can start editing. the groups let you edit things like lighting and color without touching any of the layers below it 👍

i’m not gonna do a Major coloring tutorial, for lighting i’ll usually tinker with exposure, levels, sometimes brightness/contrast. for colors, color balance + hue/saturation. i rarely touch anything else.

i’ll bring u along 4 the coloring of this one bc i’m gonna add a layer mask.

so the first thing i’m going to do bc the paper itself is already close to the vibe is i’m going to color it normal and just ignore the background

something like that. then i’m going to add a layer mask (square button w the plus sign)

and then i’m going to eye dropper a color off from somewhere else

now i was talking about the “normal” blend mode stops ur color settings from bleeding over onto other images? does not apply to painting on layers but you’re already masking this bad boy, so it doesn’t matter. just don’t say i didn’t warn u

i’d recommend using a really ridiculous blend mode to clean up ur thing at first, i’m using darken which isn’t that wild but like whatevs.

BACKSTORY:

Born in Oahu, Hawaii as the second child of a marine biologist named Jiro and a spa owner named Cynthia. Siblings are his brother Callum (23) and sister Jocelyn (20).

From a young age, his father instilled an interest for marine life in he and his siblings by taking them to tide pools and teaching them about the creatures that resided there. As the children aged, the boys found themselves venturing deeper into the water, taking up surfing lessons.

What started as a fun hobby that the brothers could bond over turned into a full blown sibling rivalry, one that Joel never seemed to have the upper hand on.

By all accounts, Joel was a talented surfer but never talented enough to place in any competitions. He’d laugh it off or offer a convincing “I’ll beat your ass next time” to his brother but years of taunting and poking and prodding at his inadequacy wore on him. Eventually he just stopped trying to be good at anything?

Easily distracted and disinterested in anything he wasn’t close to obsessed with, school never came easy to him. So, he just kinda stopped trying as much over the years, barely skating by with Cs. He and his friends would skip class, smoke weed, spray paint dicks on the cars of people they didn’t like, and just continually dare each other to do stupid shit.

Somewhere in the middle of all of this, Joel found something he was good at: entertaining. He had an impeccable ability to make his friends laugh by being a loose cannon who was down for absolutely anything. And admittedly, he liked the validation, so he just never said no no matter how ridiculous or illegal the suggestion was. He still carries this habit to this day. Peer pressure? A lifelong friend of Joel’s.

Life goes by fast when you’re not prepared for literally anything, and before Joel knew it, he’d graduated high school and had to make college plans. So, he applied to the out-of-state college one of his cousins was attending: Beaumont.

And he’s been a menace to the campus ever since. :)

Their design has always been a treat to draw and, though I cringe at their old design, I can appreciate how far they and I have both come. I also find their story to be one of my favourites, especially with the emphasis on their relationship with their sister, Bethnael, and the rest of their family. So, although Sam is definitely a fave, Abe will always find a way to steal first place. 

2. Sam; Perhaps it’s because he’s the protagonist, but I’ve always liked Sam. When I first created him in middle school he was a big step away from my mostly edgy characters. His personality is by far the sexiest thing about him. Always a solid fave.

3. Sebastion; Not only is his design one of the sexiest designs I’ve ever created, but his story is also one of my favourites. His inner struggle of not being ready or thinking he’s good enough is something that I and a lot of other people can relate to. I want to expand more on his relationship with his family as well as the turning point that helps him own up to his destiny as King. All in all, he’s just a sexy character with a sexy background. 

4. Kushiel; I recently rediscovered my love for her when hashing out her design for Artfight hey have i told y’all I’m doing Artfight this year bc I’m doing Artfi. and her design is honestly one of my faves. She and Lelial force me to get better at drawing women, but I’m not complaining since she’s genuinely so fun to draw. She’s also come a long way in terms of what her character was meant to be which is always nice.

5. Azrael; I’ve come to love Azrael more than Lucifer, not gonna lie. They’ve always existed in the Realm as a character, but I’ve never placed them in the role of the current god until recently and honestly? It’s just what their character needed. I’m really glad I made that an element in their story. 

TOP FIVE DRAWINGS (which won’t actually be drawings)

1. Self Portrait #48; I didn’t get a decent photo before sending it off but!!! I owe so much to just this one piece, but especially my involvement with acrylics. It was also the first time that I felt I accurately captured my likeness.

2. we sleep; <- that is what the file is saved as so I’m just gonna call it that lmao but!!! I Am Not Over This Piece. The closeness, the colours, the characters... I love them all! I almost didn’t do this piece because I was worried about how I would fit them all in together, but I’m glad I did. Regardless of it’s faults, this is still a remarkable and solid piece.

3. Untitled (Unfinished); Also not a terribly good picture, but the essence is there. This is one of two BIG acrylic paintings I have situated in my room and I bump into them several times a day while going to the bathroom. I love the colour on this one.

4. Day 20 - April Challenge 2020; I just like the colours and lines of this piece. The atmosphere is absolutely killer. The undergrowth is stellar. I just like it a lot. 

5. Of Theseus and Ariadne; I don’t have a pic of it, but it was a piece I did for Studio art. It’s in the Pointillism style and it’s not very good, but I love it dearly. It was so satisfying watching my sketch slowly fill up with dot upon dot upon dot. I know I’ve said it before but I totally recommend trying out the pointillism style yourself! It’s tough work, but it’s so so so rewarding.

anyways i love how gon is increasingly approaching situations with his Plucky Shounen Protag Attitude in full swing, and he pretty much gets shot down every time. BUT his general determination to see killua bc killuas his FRIEND and hes gonna RESCUE HIM is still a good and pure motivating force 

like here, when hes climbing over the wall and hes like whatever i dont wanna have to deal w/being tested thats bullshit, i wanna see killua, my intentions are pure, im gonna try my luck with the dog....i was like ok yeah he’ll get over and like tame or defeat the dog and the guard will be suitably impressed bc nobodys ever done That before, and then gon will continue on to get killua 

but NOPE instead the guard calls him down and explains that gon Will Die if he tries that, and then the guard will die too for letting that happen. and gon is like oh shit my actions have consequences for people other than me, wow. 

and THEN the guard takes them in to meet the dog. and hot DAMN that is a scary creature. not even really a dog tbh. they did an excellent job making the dog Legit Scary and not just like, big and flashy looking....those eyes are so soulless, and the proportions are freaky 

and the guard says exactly what i was thinking - that gon would use his Country Boy Woodland Creature Skills to workaround the dog....but then the subversion - this creature is NOTHING like the woodland critters gon is probably used to dealing with. theres no way gon stood a chance here. the guard just saved him from a really unfortunate death 

i love all the Super Heavy Stuff in the servant house that seems so inconvenient vbhjdkfasjfld. also forgot to mention earlier but the guard guy being Absolutely Ripped was wild and kinda funny 

training montage! gon continues to be so cute. and i love so much how leorio and kurapika are like no, you rest, we’ll take care of this. good parents!!!!

and then!!!! they sync up and use the power of gay love to almost open the gate. but then gon uses the power of Improbable Shounen Protag Healing Speed to toss that arm sling off and help out

also i have no idea what that weird building in the OP is but my guess is that its the building w/the heavens arena in it bc its tall and,,,,heaven 

i predict there wont be much fighting in this little arc bc how tf else is it so short. at this point i rlly think gon is just gonna grab killua and go lmao. im super curious abt how thats gonna go down, considering that killua is currently strung up just bc he wont apologize...so i cant imagine his family would just let him leave w/gon. i wonder if killua will fight them, or if gons determination will impress them and then theyll let killua go (doubt it)

A Hot Take on j//nerys

*posting this as a separate post bc tumblr’s being dumb as hell* 

First of all, anon, thank you very much for this ask, because BOY OH BOY have i MANY FEELINGS about the magical targcest ship that is j//nerys.

This is about to be a long ass post. Also, includes spoilers to Season 8 Ep 1 (I’ll tell u when!)

First of all, when watching Season 7, I could not find myself shipping J and D. Like...I can see what D&D tried to do with the buildup and the chemistry (like the cave paintings and Jon Chilling with Drogon), and idk if they meant to make it so awkward and stunted, but it was. I felt -1000000 chemistry in between those two characters, frankly speaking. I could see some of it nearing episodes 6 and 7 if I squinted, but I was just kind of blown away by how I absolutely could not get behind this ship that the show has supposedly been leading up to for seven seasons.

At that point, I did kinda believe in Political!Jon because it made more sense for his character rather than falling in love with Dany “White Savior Complex” T. Before watching S8 Ep1, I already didn’t think jonerys was going to be endgame, even if they were canon for the time being. It was just such a stilted relationship and the Dark!Dany was coming in STRONG. But after watching 801, may I just say…

*if you haven’t noticed, S8 EP1 spoilers start now*

Here is a pretty hot take that I don’t think I’ve seen anyone share:

Jon Snow is infatuated by D. Maybe even in love with her. But he absolutely does not love her.

Let me start with the distinction. J is infatuated because he’s almost maybe even obsessed. He knows her as the Breaker of Chains, the Mother of Dragons, and all these mythical things that her title is, and combined with the fact that she swooped in to save him when he was going Wight Hunting, I think it’s just a bunch of savior idealism mixed in with a tad bit of Stockholm Syndrome. Not to mention, I think he’s being blinded with his obsession of finding more allies to fight against the AotD, and he’s willing to overlook all of her many, many faults to get there. He’s thinking very short term right now.

And honestly? I think that this infatuation is an ongoing trend with Daenerys’ lovers. None of them truly love her as an equal, except Drogo probably. They are besotted with her. Jorah, Daario, and mayyybee even Drogo to an extent -- they don’t love her, they are in love with her.

So does this kill Pol!Jon? Mayhaps. I think, actually, that Jon started out with those Pol!Jon motives in season 7, and I think he sticks to them up until Eastwatch (if his lukewarm reactions to D and clear annoyance with her has anything to say about it). To me, when watching Eastwatch, it was like a flip was switched. Suddenly, so suddenly, Jon was bending the knee to this woman who swooped in and saved the day. And I think his whole “let’s all be truthful once and for all” spiel in Dragonpit is sort-of evidence as to the falling of his Pol!Jon motives. (tbh, I can see how it could actually bolster the Pol!Jon argument, but it’s irrelevant).

Admittedly, this was all conjecture in my head. Up until Season 8. And BOY oh bOY did this episode feed me.

[Yay to Robert and Cersei parallels, anyone?]

I know a lot of people felt as if Jon was rather ooc in 801, and I agree. I think that’s due to his adoration for Dany. Not sticking up for Sansa when Dany threatened her? Asking Arya to take Dany’s side and making that little jab at Sansa for thinking she’s the smartest person in the world (btw, she absolutely is)? Generally being complacent as hell?

I think, in all those moments, he’s warring with himself. On one hand, angel-on-his-shoulder Jon knows that family should come first, that he should fight and stand up for the ones he loved. On the other hand, he’s desperately trying to justify his infatuation for D. He’s grasping at straws, and I think he’s scared of the fact that he is. I think the most telling part of this is when he tries to justify D’s murder of the Tarlys (AND, might I add, he doesn’t even know that she burned them alive yet, just that she killed them. Oh, i cannot WAIT for this tea)

Just...watching that scene [I’ll put a pic when I can get one]. Jon begins by looking confused and worried as hell. He’s beginning to look past his infatuation and see the truth. And he really tries to defend her, he does -- “I’ve had to murder people before” or whatever he says -- but Sam CALLS him the fuck out. And let me tell you? In that fucking scene, Jon doesn’t look angry. He looks scared.

And OOF that scene with Sansa? “Did you kneel for the North or for love?” (I’m paraphrasing, sorry if it’s not accurate)

Jon hesitates. He knows, in his heart of hearts, that he’s supposed to be doing this for the North, and he’s trying to justify his infatuation with Dany and marry the two, but it isn’t working.

And the “Did you ever have faith in me?” I think Jon truly thinks what he’s doing is right. Or it could be right. He’s may be looking for Sansa’s validation, partially, because at this point even he’s unsure of what he’s doing, but that’s a little tinfoil. 

Now, on to explain the existence of J//nerys moments that don’t involve the two characters themselves..

Davos, Varys, and Tyrion talking about a marriage alliance. I’d be lying if if I said I was surprised by it. And I don’t blame Davos for trying to push it. In an ideal situation if D was an actual good person, it would make sense. But she isn’t, and Jon doesn’t love her. Not to mention I find it kind of funny that they were looking at the pair and then we find out D’s just whining abt how Sansa doesn’t like her. Very romantic.

I think that scene was necessary for two reasons. I think they might add in a push for a marriage alliance in Ep 2, when I predict that the tensions btwn Jon and D will begin, and then Jon just reveals it can’t happen because he is, ta-da, a Targaryen. And then D will go back to Dragonstone before the Battle of Winterfell while leaving her armies behind (which people are predicting). But second of all, that scene was absolutely set up for Varys’ last line -- “Nothing lasts.”

A very purposeful line. A very purposeful shot to J and D as Varys says that line. This, more than everything else, confirmed that no matter how canon j//nerys might seem now, it’s never going to be endgame.

Now for the dragon joyride scene! Yay! Let’s take a break in the middle of literal war preparations and ignore an alliance about to fall apart at the seams to go chill at a waterfall that should be frozen over!

Honestly I thought this whole scene was such fanservice. There was no emotional aspect to it, no swelling music or long-awaited release. But D&D put it in there, using their precious screentime for a reason.

1. I think it shows Jon “embracing”, or lack thereof, his Targ side. It’s very clear he is not made for it, and he is not enjoying it. When Dany first rode her dragons, she did so with ease. Jon is absolutely not having it. I think this goes to show in some little way that no matter Jon’s blood, he’s a Stark. Or maybe it’s showing a melding between his Stark and Targaryen side. Idk. either way, there wasn’t an ounce of romance in that scene that didn’t seem forced

2. Foreshadowing for Dance of Dragons 2.0 much?? I think this is very much an introduction to Rhaegar-staying-with-Jon and knowing that Jon can control him

3. Oh my god was the romance one-sided. D instigated all the romance, she instigated the kiss. Admittedly, Jon obliged, but uh...his whole kiss while staring at Drogon? I???? What??? Ah, yes, very romantic????

I love D staring at Jon with all this love (I do think she loves him, and his betrayal will turn her to Dark!Dany, but more on that later) and Jon just trying his best! Keep your queen warm! uwu!!!!!!!!!!! 

PHEW! That’s all the meta-y thoughts I have on j//nerys. I’m also beginning to think that j//nerys is the Bad version of Ygritte and Jon? As in in both cases, I believe Jon began by trying to infiltrate the enemy party and pretending to be in love, but then actually truly falling for the girl in Ygritte’s case and falling in infatuation in D’s, and ending up having to betray her because it was never going to last in the first place. Also, cave/waterfall parallels maybe. That being said, Ygritte and Jon is far, far healthier and balanced, and this is just a crack theory, so don’t hate me on this one!!!

I really found it funny how j//nerys stans after 801 were frantically giffing the dragon joyride and makeout session bonus pack and blatantly ignoring how the entire plot of the story was pointing to Dark!Dany and the strife btwn them. Also, I could literally do an entire other post about Dark!D and how I absolutely hated her in 801 and then another one about jonsa, so if anyone’s interested, lmk!

TLDR: Jon has feelings for D but it’s not even close to love, it’s infatuation at best. Pol!Jon happened initially, but then faded away.  j//nerys is hella one-sided atm and even if jon truly loves D, it’s 101% not going to last longer than like ep 3. Also not mentioned but if D insults Sansa one more time I’m going to kick her ass.

Things i was really into as a child and other half forgotten memories

- ketchup. I was a stinky child who didn't wash their hands and had ketchup-y fingers.

- finding the forbidden monster cards. My brother had these binders with cards about different animals, dinosaurs etc. Rumour told there once had been ones about mythical monsters, cryptids etc but mom had banned them and put them away. I think we did find them from mom's closet years later.

- finding the secret hallway between my brother's and sister's rooms. In reality it was a door dad had shut down and covered with wallpaper but for some reason i always pictured it being an eerie hallway, with forgotten old toys that i wanted to find.

- Dad's art books. In particular i was very into the paintings depicting hell, death, medieval torture and execution. One pic of a detailed painting entertained me for like 15 minutes.

- Dad's other books. There was this black really heavy one about occultism and illuminati stuff. My sister had read some dad's english comics(?) about CIA's torture methods or smt but i never found them. I do remember one depiction about a woman forced to swallow a really coarse piece of fabric that had a string attached. It would be slowly pulled back up so her esophagus gets torn to shreds.

- really loved hilarius hiiri

- the small atelier aka the place dad used to paint in. It was separate of the house, next to the sheep house. It smelled like paints and old paper. We slept there once (at least) with my sister and brother in sleeping bags. We couldn't sleep so i recited the entirety of The Prisoner of Zenda - the animated movie with soundtracks and all. It was a thing with us at one point.

- Dad's old photography magazines. There was a picture of a seal dying of oil poisoning or smt with a really terrifying gaze. I asked my brother if it could be saved and he said no. Never found that magazine again. 

- Going to the elementary school's attic. Another place shrouded in mystery. Had one chance in the sixth grade(i think) i was asked to help finding the Christmas decorations but then some teacher told me to do something more important :(

- the forest surrounding my elementary school. I went to a really small village school so we had fun times playing there in recess. On autumn recess was practically lunch break because i went there to eat berries #onlyfinnishthings

- overall playing outside. On winter we’d make igloos in the kaljukukkula and barbie houses from snow etc, it was an annual thing. Making little caves for my sticks and “hand puppets” (you know when you make a creature of you hand by having the middle finger as neck/head?) to live in. Playing in mud and making food and cakes from it. 

- bottle lambs!!! 

- the basement. Another place that had been shut away. Parents always told us not to jump too much in the old side of the living room because the floorboards could give up and we'd fall to the basement.

- playing with my favourite stick. It was shaped like an Y. It snapped in half accidentaly, i cried.

- next to my family's fields was a small pond. From what i was told i thought it to be practically bottomless. We were never allowed to swim there, mom was terrified about us drowning in there. Some sheep swam there though, even though they practically shouldn't bc their buttholes let water in???? Idk dont count me on this.

-swamps and bogholes. In finnish the literal translation was the "eye of the swamp", suonsilmä. I sort of thought they looked like actual huuge eyeballs, the pupils being the spot where you’d get sucked in.

- all kinds of ghost stories etc. Although im an absolute scaredy cat i loved reading them and other books that were deemed “satanistic”. Reading banned books gave an extra rush you know?

•usually when he follows doyoung around to work like grand parties and all he's allowed to wander off and takes pictures in angles he finds interesting like just a random person standing at the ballroom balcony and he focused on the dark sky behind them

•so doyoung had an appointment at a wedding and donghyuk follows him this time wearing more formal wear like suits and all

•doyoung brings less stuff so hyuk looks better with only the small camera bag and his camera in hand

•the wedding was held in the morning around maybe nine?? and hyuk was like pay me more for having me wake up early

•they arrived at the venue while the people were getting ready for the ceremony like checking the decorations, arranging the sequence of the events and tuning the piano idk

•donghyuk just walked around the while doyoung exchanged greetings with his good friend, taeyong the groom and discussed the flow of the event and so on

•he looks around the place; the chandelier hanging in the middle, sparkling as the rays of sunshine hit it, the seats covered by white cloths and decorated with ribbons and a flower on each seat and the sunlight shining through the glass, illuminating the place just right

•his camera went off, snapping pictures until he's satisfied with the angle, lightning and the subject he tries to capture

•hyuk walked into the garden , the people bustling around shouting out orders and maybe about some missing items and he notices a gazebo at corner a small distance from where he was standing and decided to visit it

•there he found you admiring the morning glory flowers that vined around the pillars in your white attire and hyuk swears he's it's one of the most beautiful sight he's ever seen

•from a hidden - he thought - corner , he secretly snapped a few pictures of you while you just pretended not to know and didn't hear the clicking of the camera , subtly posing for the camera lol

•the loud bell rang which marked the start of the ceremony and you speedily headed back inside and he followed then quickly took his seat beside doyoung at the third row from the front , holding his flower in hand

•hyuk's eyes glanced at each row trying to search for you until his eyes stopped at the front seeing that you were one of the bridesmaids wearing your pure white dress with a flower wreath on the crown of your head and a pretty smile on your face; hyuk couldn't help but take another picture

•when it was bouquet and garter tossing time , you guessed it - donghyuk and you got them and it was said earlier that the lucky ones would have to dance together after the newlyweds

•a soft song was played and the couple danced together gracefully , ending their dance with a kiss

•the song continued on while hyuk and you stepped up , two awkward teens getting into position for the dance

•donghyuk blushed as he put a hand on your waist bc he's never been this close to a girl before and it makes his heart race

•you're having the same issue as well bc you've never seen and been so close to a boy as cute before and you hoped that your palms weren't sweating

•the both of you danced awkwardly a silence settling around you two until donghyuk spoke up

•donghyuk - "what's your name? i'm donghyuk"

•you - "i'm (y/n) nice to meet you"

•donghyuk - "nice to meet you (y/n). it's going to be awkward if we don't start talking don't you think?"

•with that you two talked as you danced , giggling at his small jokes and having small chats to get to know each other

•just before the dance ended you told him you knew he was taking pictures of you and his cheeks went pink and you were like how can he get this cute sAVE mE

•donghyuk - "y-you knew? then i hope you don't mind me printing them and hang them in my work place? the pictures were so pretty , you were pretty as well"

•hyuk trailed off saying the last bit softly but you heard it clearly and blushed bc a cute hyuk called you pretty

•you - "it's fine i'm okay with that!! thanks for thinking that i'm pretty"

•he blushed darker as he realised you heard him say and you giggled

•you - "can i look at the picture after you're done printing them?"

•hyuk's like of course but how do i contact you and you lead him off somewhere as the dance finished

•you pulled out a pen out of nowhere and scribbled your number on his palm drawing a heart at the end and walk off leaving him a blushy mess

Newsies at the Muny

So, I have had the amazing opportunity to see Newsies at the Muny this week. This show is incredible, but its so impressive because the cast had ten days to rehearse/learn lines before opening night. so heres some things that i noticed that are different from the broadway productions/things i just really liked.

Here’s a picture of the two set pieces they used a lot-when they’re pushed together, they were the lodging house.

in the opening song, you can see the rest of the newsies sleeping against the poles on the bottom level while Jack and Crutchie sing.

Danny Quadrino playing Crutchie again was so amazing because he already has such a thorough grasp on the character-the ‘watch me run’ was so giddy, but directly after that he looked so sad, not only in his face but his body language made him look just…dejected i guess.

when Crutchie went down when the circulation gates opened for the first time, immediately someone (i can’t remember who) grabbed him and helped him to his feet

Les was picked up so much by everyone throughout the show-the first time being when Jack strikes his deal with him, Jay picked up Gabe and stood him on the wagon so Gabe was taller than him. 

Les didn’t look to Davey for confirmation when Jack said ‘60/40′, he just made the deal himself

LES WAS LIMPING, COUGHING, AND BEING AN ALL-AROUND LITTLE SHIT TO SELL THAT LAST PAPE I LOVE HIM

instead of sounding scared on ‘is that the guy you’re meetin’?’, this Les just sounded curious, like he wanted to know what Jack was going to do

on ‘not even me, Miss Medda?’, Jay leaned over the railing and put his arms out from his sides and it was adorable

in That’s Rich (first of all Ta’rea was incredible), Les was sitting on his heels at the side of the backdrop, but kept on inching closer as the song went on

I Never Planned On You/Don’t Come A-Knocking started in the box, but Katherine moved down to stage level to watch the show from backstage, and that’s where Jack started to draw her

the line ‘they was coronas’ didn’t sound like Race was defending himself, but like he was bragging about the fact that he got coronas

after Les said ‘we got a father, too!’, one of the newsies (damon is the actor’s name, i don’t know which newsie he played) gave him a little bow

instead of writing STRIKE on the heading board, Jack wiped the chalk dust away to form the word

on ‘whaddya call these guys?’, i heard one of the guys do a sing-song ‘hellooooo’

World Will Know was just…so good

at one point in Watch What Happens, Katherine was on a wheeling chair and she pushed herself away from her desk her desk was center stage and she made it to halfway off stage on stage right i was impressed 

Seize the Day was so good

the papers were really different-instead of individual papers, they had them in stacks. There was a little bit where Les was jumping from stack to stack after each newsie dropped their stack in front of him…the noise was pretty loud

Les got picked up several times

the fighting was really good-so much was happening at once

So i realized that Morris was the one to grab Crutchie first because he yelled ‘hey Oscar, look what I got’, and then one of the Delancy brothers yelled up to Jack basically the same thing which was ‘heyya jack, lookit what we got’

Danny Quadrino’s yelling ‘jack’ broke my heart, and so did Jay yelling back ‘crutchie’ in the most desperate of voices

after crutchie was arrested, some newsies ran back onstage being chased by one or two of the strike-breakers. they looked absolutely terrified 

Santa Fe almost made me cry

Act 2!!!

King of New York was so. good

each newsie got his own pape, bc katherine didn’t just bring one, she brought an ENTIRE STACK

they didn’t start tapping until after the whole ‘lets get drunk’ bit, meaning that you couldn’t hear the taps because they hadn’t turned the stage mics on yet

on ‘barbershop haircut that costs a quarter’ the actor took off his hat and shook his hair (he had fairly long hair)

THEY MOVED THE TABLES DURING THE SONG-they were the same configuration as the broadway production at the start (one in the middle and straight and two others, one on the left and the other on the right, slanted a little) but then they moved them to all be pushed together like one long table

also on the right and left sides they had Muny teens tapping alongside the cast it was great

danny quadrino is amazing and my heart hurts

also i have made several friends cry with my stupid analyzing of that song but i won’t put it here to save y'all from that

the Pulitzer cartoon wasn’t a foot, but a hand pushing down on the newsies

the ‘and i got a date!’ line was delivered so perfectly oh my lord

during the scene change, they closed the front picture-like thing the Muny has for every production, and Les, Jack, and Davey all went behind it but Katherine was pulled to stay in front of it by Pulitzer

‘which one gives us more in common?’ got a round of applause

there was such a gasp from the audience when Pulitzer said ‘my daughter’

in brooklyn’s here, about four boys started at far stage left before a spotlight hit about 17 guys that were house right-the four guys met up with them and they traveled across the house before stopping at house left for the whole ‘borough what gave me birth’ bit, before going down an aisle to get back to the stage

at the rally there was the entire cast of newsies, plus Muny teens and kids.

when jack went to stage right to get his money, it was thrown on the ground for him to pick up

when Les saw the money, he put his arms out and looked really upset. Davey just looked dejected before pushing Les away

when katherine kissed jack, it got a whoop from someone in the free seats

something to believe in sounded soooo good. also at the end, the set piece they were on spun to the back (bc the Muny has something similar to what hamilton does-a floor that can spin) and they were kissing until they stopped moving again

ONCE AND FOR ALL WAS AMAZING AND LET ME TELL YOU WHY

they did the toss thing and it was great

so they each got their papes, right? and they all headed to the top of that set piece above to sing

on ‘this is for kids shining shoes in the street with no shoes on their feet every day’, the kids who you can kind of see on the bottom of that set piece in the picture started to walk forward, oldest first. they all walked with their heads cast downwards

on ‘ten thousand kids in the square’, the lights went up and all the kids snapped their heads up from their feet

then, they all crouched/squatted/sat on ‘joe, you is gonna play fair, once and for all’

the cast that was on the set made their way down and as the whole  ‘there’s change coming once and for all. you’re getting too old, too weak to keep holding on’ thing started, they each handed a pape to a kid on the ground (each handed out like two or three)

as each kid got their pape, they would read it, and stand up with their fist in the air

on the last chord, everyone punched their fist in the air

also none of the teens/kids sang during Once and For All, it was all the cast/offstage singers

‘he doesn’t do happiness, does he?’ was SO WELL-DELIVERED

jay’s impression on ‘its a compromise we can all live with’ wasn’t as harsh as corey’s, but it was spot-on with how Davis Gaines had said the line earlier

also jack and crutchie had the BEST HUG IVE EVER SEEN I LOVE THEM

in conclusion, newsies at the Muny was amazing and if they don’t do it again in a few years and have the show go for 10 days instead of 7 i will fight

Dear @dotingdamen tagged me like thirty years ago in this thing but then Midterms happened, and then life and so uh… here, you get ten random things about me + a selfie bc we all know y’all wanna see my current hair color.

1st Random Thing! I am a very healthy person in everything referred to acute illnesses, but when it comes to chronic stuff I’m like an old lady trapped in a 22 yo’s body: my knees are fucking destroyed and make this awful cracking noise and hurt if I spend too much time with my legs in the same position, I have this weird pain in both arms that sometimes keeps me from moving them around too much bc lifting them hurts, and I also have a lipoma in the back of my right hand that sometimes gets bitchy and decides to hurt. Oh and I have Spring Allergy yay, developed it a couple of years ago.

2nd Random Thing! I made a huge effort to finish studying my seven years of English at the same time I finished high school. I wanted to get all my degrees by the time I finished school bc I knew it would be a hassle to go on studying a language at the same time I went to college, so I crammed the last four years in two, meaning I did fourth and fifth English years together, and the next year I did sixth and seventh. I was top of my class thre out of those four years and I’m proud, bc that was a big sacrifice for me. I was all day at school and then headed to English class and came back home at like nine pm. Kinda had a small breakdown bc of the stress in the middle of it all and ended up changing schools lol (best decision ever tbh).

3rd Random Thing! I travelled around Europe for a month when I was sixteen, and I started my pocket watch collection then. I bought a watch from every country I visited, except England. I have eleven so far, and my favorite is probably the one I bought in Pisa, Italy ❤

4th Random Thing! I used to be That Weird Kid in elementary school and high school. I’m quite patient and don’t like confrontations, and I like to think people are good and give them the benefit of the doubt, but because of all that I was constantly being picked on and used by my classmates. So one day I decided I didn’t need people in my life, at least not that people, and from then on I would print stuff to read at school, or take a book with me, so during break I’d sit somewhere outside and read quietly. It was really nice, tbh.

5th Random Thing! Related to the previous point, I became very good at deciding when I should keep a person in my life or not. If you’re disrespectful and insufferable, you’ll drain my patience pretty quickly, and that’s how I know you don’t deserve to be in my life. May sound bitchy but I do like that about me, saves me a lot of trouble, and quite honestly it’s not that easy to make me lose all my patience so if you manage to do it, dude, you’re b a d. You literally have to be super self-absorbed and never listen to me and show little to no interest in my life and wellbeing.

6th Random Thing! I’m kind of an artsy person, in the sense I find my peace in doing manual stuff. I’ve always liked drawing, painting, modelling with clay and porcelain, working with wood, even sewing. Whatever thing that implies using my hands to produce something relaxes my mind, that’s why I’m trying to get back to drawing. I used to participate in art galleries and expos when I was younger.

7th Random Thing! And since we’re talking about art, seventh random thing will be the fact that I was recently featured in an Erotic Art Expo and it was a really great, fun experience. 10/10 would do it again. A pic of me standing beside my expo pic even made it to the local newspaper lol and I look great, mind you.

8th Random Thing! When I was born, my aunt called me “bat” (yes very sweet of her), and it became one of my many childhood nicknames. Turns out she was right, bc now I’m as blind as a bat. Nice, aunt.

9th Random Thing! Literally all of my friends expected me to be a Ravenclaw because I’m so nerdy about stuff I like, and I love reading, and as I said before I was That Weird Kid who chose reading over socializing, and also probably bc people usually think Ravenclaws are serious, calm and collected and I’m like super serious at first sight (though I’m actually super random and stupid, just ask Eve). But I turned out to be a Hufflepuff and, to be honest, I’m really comfortable with it and also proud, and I truly believe that’s my place. Hufflepuff is a great house, and I get really offended when people stick up their noses and laugh at me when I say I’m a Huffie. I take this really seriously, guys. It’s fucking offensive >:c

10th Random Thing! I’m really scared of dogs, even tiny ones that could only bite my ankles. I can’t stand it when a dog I don’t know looks at me. I even have an audio of me having a breakdown over dogs lol bc I was walking down the street while sending an audio to some friends and I forgot to stop recording while the dogs barked at me so yeah, it’s there somewhere and I laugh every time I listen to it.

There u go my pals, that’s me coming back from my field practice. It was windy and cold but I had cool hair so everything was good (it actually has a lot of purple but you can only see my front locks here lol)
