Victor theories (after the trailer)

I just scream a bit… bear with me. I'M SO HAPPY I don't have to buy a tamagotchi and kill it. Thank you, Cybird. Okay… This is my last last theory post. The second last post. I do not know how it happened.

@.kurishiri made a translation of the trailer in case you didn't see it yet. In this post, I will use screenshots from this translation.

The thoughts in my head are jumping from one to another. I tried to structure them, though it doesn't seemed to worked out properly. But… I wanted to write it as soon as possible, before something distracted me. Sorry about it.

His age

The first thing I noticed was that Vivi not only has shorter hair, but he looks younger!!!!!

He looks about 15-16 years old… maybe I'm wrong. But… it looks like that to me…

And the words that we see… repeat the words of our beloved Kate.

I'm going to scream! IT WAS HIM!!!! I KNEW IT!!!!

(clear throat)

I'm back to normal.

So, the younger version of Victor that we see in this video was with Kate. Kate is now 25-26, and it happened in her very young years (she barely remembers it)… for example, 20 years ago. This number was on Jude's route… WTF, why not? So…

So... 20 years ago, Vivi was 15-16 years old… So we're back to 35-36 years old. It fits perfectly.

His origin

Another thing that is very hard to miss is his clothes. Larger version from the announcement of episode 0.

At first I thought maybe it was a school uniform. Because of his age… it's possible. But at that time, boys wore the same clothes they do now. A fairly simple shirt, tie, and black suit. Even if we assume that he just took off his jacket, the shirt is too fancy. And a ribbon… not exactly fitting.

Next I thought about Elbie and Ally's shirts… they have a similar style, but not quite. But the ribbon he wears is too simple for nobility. But at the same time… the quality of the shirt says otherwise. Not to mention the stone brooch… So maybe… He comes from a rich family, that become poor. These clothes can be explained that way. But… church schools were only for orphans, no? Or for family members, as we learned.

But I have a feeling that he looks more like a scholar. It looks like he studied theology, maybe he was preparing to become a priest? Haven't I been thinking too much about Faust lately? Maybe.

Is this even a church?

The statue does not look like a modern God… Yes, we have large windows that let in a lot of light (which often symbolizes closeness to God), chandeliers and benches…. but… It feels a little different. Do you see? The statue is too big… and… architecture… is not quite right. It is somewhat reminiscent of Ancient Greece. What is this place?

Fatalism

I firmly believe in fate, so I am extremely happy to see this part. The fact that Kate was back in his life…

I agree that it's probably very strange to meet someone after so many years and in such strange circumstances. If situations continue to overlap one another, despite the fact that the probability that happen is very low… people usually call it fate.

But he's talking again (this time) about fate as a person. Maybe it's just a figure of speech…

That ribbon of his won't let me go… The simple ribbon was mentioned in the bitter ending of Ellis' story in event "Bound to You".

Kate was extremely fascinated by this ribbon. Considering that Kate met Victor with a simple ribbon a long time ago. Perhaps that's why this symbol seems so attractive to her… Forgotten memories, associations…

And the fact that Kate remembers him… there are already two facts about him… mean that he made a strong impression. What happened back then?

Yes, he is a magnificent man and makes a strong impression. Maybe it's just an impression. But I'd like to think it was more than that.

I talked about this in my "last post with the theories". Yeah, right… the last.

So… Maybe they were just meant to be together. And that's why (maybe) Vivi let her go many years ago… to keep her safe. And perhaps that's why he feels sad when he says that "fate is playing her cards".. He doesn't want to involve Kate in his life… but Fate has a different opinion.

On the other hand… all the guys "endings" (I'm not talking about… no, it's an untranslatable joke) usually called grim fate. In the sense of the inevitability of missing it, changing it. This is what will happen no matter what. (But we still won't give up!!!) Maybe that's what Victor was talking about. And, perhaps, this has something to do with his grim fate. His grim fate drew Kate into his life. His grim fate made it happen. His grim fate is... so persistent. Peculiar…

His loyalty

This was one of the versions of what his curse might be. I've talked about it… here. But it is very questionable. Victor constantly calls himself the Grim Reaper, the palace Reaper (which kind of resembles Sariel.. who calls himself the devil). So maybe it's just one of the nicknames and has nothing to do with his real curse.

And the last line… totally different from what we've heard before. On every route, they are told us that Crown "destroys evil with evil". So… they don't deny that they are evil, but they do it with a good purpose. But… here Victor said that he was devoted to evil… Maybe the guys don't know who they really work for? Maybe the Queen, as I assumed earlier, is not human at all? Interesting…

Or maybe… He's just being dramatic. He talked about himself as something dark and bad. Maybe it's the curse that makes him think of himself that way…

And a bit more...

It's just a guess. You can't look him in the eye when he gives an order to his victim, otherwise you'll die as well. It's almost the same as a William's curse. He also must look the victim in the eye. It looks a bit like a snake. Has the thought of Sari stuck in my head???? Maybe… no… he's not Hydra.

So… he sold his freedom to get his curse? This… impossible, the curse doesn't work that way. Maybe… he exchanged? What? And again… who is the Queen? Victor belongs to Victoria. Does he have sort of contract with her? Is she the Death itself??? It would be too good to be true...

At first, I wasn’t sure how to translate this. After researching, I found that English has the term "boyfriend shirt", which refers to a loose-fitting shirt styled like men’s clothing but worn as a fashion statement by women. However, I chose to keep the original term because "boyfriend shirt" usually refers to a fashion style rather than specifically describing a girl wearing her boyfriend’s shirt.

How Doffy shows acts of care for Reader by providing financially for her in the fic (though this is overall for his character)

Now, let's start on explaining some more about it. The title is inspired by that thought I had when I looked at these two Donquixotes side-by-side. Like. Reaaally looked. They look very similar to each other. Their faces are nearly exactly the same at FIRST GLANCE (they have distinctive differences but a normal person wouldn't notice that from a simple glance). Usually people would say Rosinante looks like Doflamingo, except here, you meet Rosinante first.

So to you, Doflamingo resembles Rosinante when his hair is down. It's only a second, but your eyes completely change for that split moment when you think he's Rosinante. And Doflamingo notices this - it's very easily noticeable. And it fckn... Annoys him. A lot 🤣. Bcs Doflamingo was never told "oh you look like your brother" it was Rosinante who always experienced that sentence. So it's a real punch in the gut for Doffy, including his pride. Especially as he falls in love with Reader. Reader has (understandably) preconceptions about Doflamingo. So Doflamingo needs to break that preconcepted image Reader has of him so she can truly see him. It's a new experience for him.

The fic, originally, at its first outline, was only Doflamingo x Reader. But then I wanted to flesh out the entire story and Rosinante & Law happened, and they became their own chapters, and fit into the story so well, and it was my first attempt at Rosinante x Reader and damn it pulled on my heartstrings.

The Doflamingo in this fic is the Dressrosa Takeover Doflamingo (he hasn't taken over Dressrosa yet at all when he meets Reader, he simply cuts his hair short and changes his entire style after entering the Grand Line in this fic)

Why?

BECAUSE I ADORE HIM. He is HANDSOME AS HELL. WOW. JUST. WOW. And I needed to write sth with him and the idea just came. He still has a bit of his upward spikes, so when they go down they cover his forehead probably exactly like Rosinante's. And that fucks up your mind. It's an absolute mindfuck.

The story can be separated in 4 Arcs, which are for now the chapter titles.

The Marine - Chapter 1

Rosinante x Reader - it spans throughs years of Rosinante's life in the marines + meeting Reader & getting married, ends with him going on the Donquixote Pirates Mission

The Sick Boy - Chapter 2

There are 3 weeks of emptiness between when Doflamingo tells Rosinante about the Op-Op Fruit and Minion Island. These three weeks are all in Chapter 2, where Rosinante takes Law to you so you two can care for him and keep him alive. It focuses on Law, Rosinante's death (the only Minion Island scene for now), and Law's journey back to you to tell you the truth of what happened - with a polar bear and two boys sneaking into the submarine with him on the way 🤣. It ends with Rosinante's funeral and Law officially forming the Heart Pirates. ❤️‍🔥

The Warlord - Chapter 3

Doflamingo x Reader - This one is finally very much Reader's POV focused, with a bit of Doflamingo's POV as well. This part covers the next nine months of Reader's pregnancy, and Doflamingo's visits to Marineford during the weekends. There are so many things here — fluff, angst, hurt/comfort, domestic life, humor, Doflamingo singing while he cooks in a pink apron with a flamingo drawn on it with "Kiss the flamingo 🦩"... Doflamingo knocking on your window drenched like a pink cat and stripping naked while your back is turned, Doflamingo being an absolute demon you should not mess with (but you do) but also a soft three meter meow meow 🥺. Also the best support during pregnancy. Seriously. He's great at that part. Also. Doflamingo's charming smiles. Doflamingo's puppy eyes. Doflamingo's. Fucking. Puppy eyes. Damn him (I say lovingly)

The King - Chapter 4

Doflamingo x Reader - Follows post-childbirth after Reader & Rosinante's child is born, and the next two years of Doflamingo & Reader raising the child and eventually the fall of Dressrosa and Doflamingo becoming its king... I can't say too much for this one cus I don't want to spoil it too much, but... It's good. So good. And is the last chapter of the story with a Happy Ending for Doflamingo x Reader. Also, 100% will try to write some smut for this chap, bcs I neeeed it at this point. 😩

Here is the summary I made for Doflamingo's Part ie The Warlord Part when I first thought this would just be a one-shot (ha, fool!)

Summary: To Donquixote Doflamingo, family is everything. A month after Rosinante’s death, Vergo delivers him damning information after he’d ordered a full deep dive into Rosinante’s fourteen years of absence — his brother had gotten married years ago. And not only that, his brother’s wife is pregnant. Doflamingo does something both impertinent and bold, just as any pirate — he enters the Grand Line with one goal — become a warlord, meet you, and be there for you during your pregnancy. He makes history, stealing and robbing Heavenly Tributes almost every few days, conquering the Grand Line and its underworld — and is made a warlord the next month.

As the pink flowers on the single pink cherry blossom tree in Marineford sway in the wind, so do the pink feathers of Doflamingo’s coat as he steps foot on Marineford a few days later to attend a meeting with the higher-ups — and meet you.

You don't need the curse of his protection or his blood money, or want him in your child’s life — your husband would roll in his grave. However, as a former Celestial Dragon and now a warlord, Doflamingo gains permission to visit you on weekends in Marineford, and not even Fleet Admiral Sengoku can do anything about him as the orders come from "up high". The newly appointed warlord is just as your husband described him as - stubborn, sadistic, enjoys mocking people, laughs at their suffering, and a manipulating schemer. As the warlord forces you to spend more time with him, you realise there is more to the older Donquixote than your late husband told you.

That wasn’t your husband’s smile. It was too sharp, too wide, too wicked.

Doflamingo was taller than Rosinante, but gangly and long-limbed like him. He was bigger than on his wanted poster. His hair was no longer long and uplifted like a dragon’s head, but instead the spikes were shortened, sticking upward.

Your heart picked up its beat, dread spreading in your stomach.

Evil emanated from every fibre of his being.

“There you are.” said Doflamingo victoriously, smiling all the way.

It had all started with a very simple question on Ha Neul's first day working at the campus library. The question was really nothing out of the ordinary -- a question any competent retail employee would ask a customer, especially when books were involved: Can I help you find something?

But the answer (a somewhat weary "I can't find what I'm looking for" from an unknown face that has no bearing on this story whatsoever) eventually led Ha Neul to recommend a somewhat obscure historical fiction novel to the exhausted student in need of an escape from their studies.

Not even three days later, the same student returned, their eyes brighter and more eager, asking for another recommendation.

As the weeks passed, more and more students began seeking Ha Neul out to ask for book recommendations, and before the end of the semester, he had gained a reputation as the Library Cupid.

He had applied for an assistant position at the library in the first place because he was an avid reader. When he wasn't doing homework and studying for his Psychology major classes, he was reading any and every book that caught his interest. Being around books both relaxed him and brought him immense joy, so working in the library on campus was the perfect fit.

And, as it turns out, his penchant for reading anything with a compelling story regardless of genre meant that he was keenly adept at recommending a book for pretty much anyone who asked.

It made Ha Neul incredibly happy.

It also made you fall for him, but we're getting ahead of ourselves!

The first year or so of playing Library Cupid was just your average "If you're looking for this specific genre/trope/writing style, you might like this book" situation. A student came in asking for something to read, and Ha Neul would recommend a book. A simple transaction. Tale as old as time, really!

But then things started to get a bit more interesting.

One day, as Ha Neul was reshelving some English Literature resource books, he noticed a young lady standing a little farther down the aisle. Instead of perusing the shelf in front of her or paging through one of the several books stacked in her arms, though, it looked like she was peering through a space left between two textbooks.

Ha Neul didn't say anything out loud, but the scene definitely piqued his curiosity.

So, with as much stealth as he could manage, he left the aisle and began a survey of the nearby areas.

The most obvious thing to catch his eye was another person -- seemingly another young lady -- in the next aisle over. She was standing in just about the same spot, so it would've been easy for the first person to see her through the hole in the shelves.

Now, this could mean one of three things:

Young Lady One has a crush on Young Lady Two.

Young Lady One is stalking Young Lady Two.

Young Lady Two is bullying or harassing Young Lady One, and Young Lady One is keeping watch and waiting for a chance to leave without Young Lady Two seeing her.

Honestly, Ha Neul had learned it was best to never assume anything, so he quietly tiptoed back to his original spot and shuffled up to Young Lady One.

"Hi," he whispered. "Can I help you with something?"

The young lady jumped a little, but when she turned to face him, her eyes widened. "Oh," she whispered back. "Are... are you the Library Cupid?"

Ha Neul's lips curved into a somewhat bashful grin. Knowing that he had a campus-wide reputation like this was both thrilling and mind-boggling at the same time. "Yes," he confirmed with a small nod.

The girl then fumbled around with the stack of books she was holding, precariously sliding one out and handing it to him.

"Women in Love, D.H. Lawrence?" Ha Neul mumbled as he haltingly took the book from her. "What --"

"Can you," she interrupted, lowering her voice even more. "Give this to the girl in the next aisle over?"

Ha Neul looked back up at her and began to say 'Oh, I'm not that kind of Cupid.'

But the look on her face -- so hopeful and eager -- stopped him.

It was now clear that situation number one was in play here, and Young Lady One was requesting that he actually play Cupid.

...You know what, hell yeah!

The task was easy enough, and it was his job to assist people in the library, wasn't it? Technically, he was assisting this person in the library.

So, he nodded in agreement before pressing his index finger to his lips to signal his promise to keep it hush-hush.

Three weeks after he effortlessly recommended and handed Women in Love to Young Lady Two, both young ladies strolled into the library hand-in-hand.

Success!

And, from there, things just kind of snowballed. Ha Neul continued to make book recommendations to whoever asked, and he also did some matchmaking on the side.

But Ha Naul harbored a secret throughout all of this.

While he had a pretty good track record when it came to matchmaking via books, he had never actually been in love himself.

He'd had crushes here and there, but his academics had always kept him plenty busy -- and now that his job at the library took up much of his free time, it had become even more difficult to fit in any sort of relationship.

Plus... he just hadn't found The One yet.

And not even The One in a soulmate way. Just 'The One' he could potentially fall in love with. Someone to be his first love.

Sometimes it bothered him and made him sad, but most of the time, he was too busy to think about it. He was also surrounded by books most days of the week, and how can someone really be sad with so much to read, right?

Actually, that's exactly how you felt, as well.

You didn't want to say that you'd had a lonely childhood, but... Your parents had both worked in the medical field (they still did to this day), and you were an only child. The moments the three of you spent together as a family were few and far between.

So, you'd had to become independent pretty quickly and learn to fend for yourself.

From a very early age, you'd figured out that fictional characters were almost guaranteed to be there for you when real humans couldn't be.

It had started with television, back before you'd learned to read. You'd watch children's shows, of course, but one evening after your babysitter had fallen asleep on the couch, you'd accidentally changed the channel to a well-known serialized crime show.

Something about it had sucked you in almost immediately, and you had refused to watch anything else for years.

Later on down the road, during one of your class's library days at school, you'd discovered a novel based on that very same television show -- the same characters and everything! When you'd skimmed the summary on the back (skipping over some words you didn't know), you'd realized it was basically just a written version of an episode.

It was a few grade levels too difficult for you, but you'd checked it out immediately.

And so began your obsession with reading. Specifically, reading mystery and crime novels.

And, honestly, your obsession with libraries, too.

Your parents didn't have time to take you to the public library very often, but whenever you finished an assignment early or had a free period in school, there was only one place to find you.

The school librarians in elementary, middle, and high school had gotten to know you well; in fact, you very quickly discovered that librarians were one of the few real (meaning non-fictional) people you could count on to always be there for you.

Since you spent so much time reading and in libraries, one would think that when it came time for you to go to college and choose a major to study, you would've picked something like literature or library sciences or even creative writing.

You had contemplated those for a bit, but ultimately, your heart had pulled you to your other love: forensic science with a minor in criminal justice.

But, of course, you continued on your tradition of visiting the school library as soon as you moved to campus.

The only problem was that the campus library wasn't incredibly well-stocked with mystery and crime novels. At least, not ones you hadn't read yet.

Don't get me wrong! You had no qualms whatsoever with re-reading books. In fact, you'd done it countless times! And you'd watched the whole series of your favorite show -- all 28 seasons of it -- about three times over at this point! If you were particularly fond of an episode, you'd definitely watched it at least ten times.

But still.

It was nice to get some variety every once in a while.

Today was not one of those days for variety, though. You had just searched the Mystery/Crime shelves and come up empty-handed -- as far as new books went, that is. You had checked out two novels you'd already read several years ago.

You let out a soft sigh as you walked through the front door of your campus apartment, jumping a little when your roommate walked right by you.

"What's with the sigh?" she asked as she headed to the kitchen with a pile of her dirty dishes.

"Oh," you murmured. "Nothing, really. Just nothing new at the library."

After she set her dishes into the sink but before she turned the faucet on to begin washing them, she said, "Hey, why don't you ask Library Cupid?"

Her words made you furrow your brow with confusion. "Ask who?"

"Y'know, that guy who gives book recommendations," she clarified.

Oh, right. That guy. Did people really call him Library Cupid?

"I... think I'm good," you nodded. "I know what I want to read, it's just that the library doesn't have much of it."

As she reached for the faucet handle, she paused and tilted her head slightly. "I mean, he does work at the library. Maybe you could ask him to put in a request for more mysteries."

...Now, why hadn't you thought of that?

"That's... a great idea," you replied, nodding slowly. "Thanks!"

Your roommate started on her dishes after that, though she did look entirely too pleased with herself.

Since you were the kind of person to think relentlessly about a task until you actually completed it, you decided to head back to the library after finishing your homework for the day. The assistant your roommate had talked about -- the Library Cupid -- seemed to be there whenever you visited in the evening, so it was most likely that his schedule matched yours: classes in the morning and afternoon, work in the evening (although your work was purely academic at this point).

Not that you'd been keeping track of his schedule, of course. You were just observant, as any forensic scientist-to-be worth their salt should be.

Thankfully, when you stepped through the door into the main lobby of the library, the place seemed fairly empty. From what you could tell, this guy was pretty popular; the last thing you wanted was to wait in line for something as simple as requesting a book. It would be worth it, of course, but...

Before you could even continue your thought, you saw the very person for whom you were looking: Library Cupid himself.

...Yeah, you still weren't sure about that name. You would make sure to catch a glimpse of his name tag before you left.

He had arrived at the front desk with an empty book cart, so he had most likely just finished shelving the latest returns. You were experienced enough in a library to know it was a perfect time to interrupt and ask a question -- mainly because you wouldn't really be interrupting at all!

As you walked toward the desk, you began to script out your interaction in your head. If you didn't figure out exactly what you were going to say before you said it, your words always came out in an embarrassing jumbled mess, especially when you were talking to a stranger for the first time. You'd lived through too many mortifying exchanges where your muddled sentences had kept you up at night!

Little did you know that, while the conversation you were about to have wouldn't keep you up at night, it would change your life.

Morningstar family redesigns

I kinda wanted to expand on my choices for my redesigns for fun

So first, Lucifer. I really don’t have a lot of issues with his original design, I think it’s fun and fits within the Hazbin universe! I just wanted to reimagine him.

I always liked the idea of Lucifer having curly reddish hair, something about his fall turning his hair red (this design isn’t 100% biblically accurate as it is just for fun), but I toned down the red to be closer to his original blonde since I also like blonde Lucifer, and I figured he’d liked to keep his hair neat so I decided to put it up and take away the hat

I wanted to keep the ring leader theme in his outfit, but I wanted to further incorporate the snake element in his design since I think he’d be proud of his fall (hence why his suit looks burnt and torn, and he shows off his burnt arm, I figured he’d do this intentionally to remind others of his rebellion)

Lastly I changed the entire family’s main colors to purple, as biblically out of the 7 sins Pride is purple and since he’s supposed to rule pride in the show I figured he’d be more purple themed then red, pretty simple🙏

Next Lilith, I think she was the only one out of the three where I didn’t really like her original design. Not only because she didn’t have much going on, but she also looked really similar to Lucifer, to the point where they almost look blood related.

I think Viv’s choices for Lilith were a bit odd, as she had SOO much potential that just wasn’t used.

I kept her blonde hair but I gave it some tan undertones and I put it up into a semi-low slicked back pompadour inspired by some hairstyles you might see young women have in the early 1900s or late 1800s, but I gave her a little down section that fades into a dark purple and looks somewhat feathery due to one adaption of her describing her as a “screech owl”. I kept the purple theme somewhat like the original and plus she technically rules over pride as well, I would have loved to have given her a red theme if pride was red.

Based on these different adaptations of Lilith a took inspiration from each, giving her a flame-themed dress and the upper body of a beautiful women yet still somewhat demon-like, I also put some fluff at the bottom of her dress since I thought it looked kinda like smoke puffs and clouds. Her stomach is covered with gold rings that look somewhat like a snake belly, and I gave her a necklace with a style inspired by some eastern jewelry, the jewels on her necklace are each the color of one of the 7 sins which I thought would be a fun touch and a little bit of a “showing off” of her role as the queen of hell.

lastly I kept her horns since she is meant to be a succubus, but I stylized them a bit to look less like those big ram-like ones since I didn’t really like how odd they looked against her head. I also gave her long slender fingers that faded to a black naturally as in biblical lore she steals babies from mothers and I thought making her hands that she stole the children with look creepy and eerie yet still beautiful was a nice touch.

Lastly, Charlie! Again, I didn’t really have a problem with the original design. I changed her suit color and theme to prides color, put I made her hair curlier and more red/orange like her dads, and I wanted some parts of her suit to resemble his a bit hence the buttons and the back of her suit going out like her dad’s (but a bit shorter for convenience.)

I imagine her being a bit showy so I kinda decked her out in silver, I thought it’d also be a fun mirroring of how her mom is covered in gold. Her shoes are pretty similar to the original, I put a little split at the front of the shoes in the dark purple since Viv has said she has little hooves which I’m not sure is true but I thought it was a fun idea so I kinda hinted at it with that

I changed her irises (is that what they’re called?) to look more snake-like like her dad, and I gave her little horns since I thought they were cute and I wanted her to maybe show them on purpose because she wanted to blend in more with the citizens of hell so they might feel less intimidated by her presence as the princess, that’s also why I didn’t give her a crown :]

Overall this was just a fun little project I did out of curiosity and boredom, these designs aren’t made to criticize or taunt vivziepop since like I said I love her designs already

my attempt at redesigning satin & chenille! now, i dont think their original designs were as bad as CREEKS, they just... werent particularly fashionable, is the main thing, which is awful bc their whole thing is fashion! this could have been solved just by giving them new outfits but... wheres the fun in that? more in depth rambling under the cut (it gets long, be warned)

when redesigning the twins, i actually went largely off of this concept art i showed before

i loved how much better it conveyed them being into fashion by giving them a tonne of accessories, and i think them being japanese instead of swedish makes more a lot sense thematically; when thinking about fashion, you tend to picture harajuku before you picture sweden. um. sorry, swedes. im sure youre very snappy dressers!

i kept something similar to their final colour scheme, since pink and blue has a better contrast than magenta and red. while keeping the rainbow accessories might have looked nice, i do like how final s&c have a very neat palette of pink/blue/purple + yellow accents. nice and clean and simple and effective. theyre very colour coordinated. i swapped the skin and hair shades, honestly it was mostly because i knew i wanted their little cheek stamps (which replaced their glitter freckles, so that could be a trait specific to poppy and creek) to be yellow/gold and it looked a lot better on the deeper colours than the pastel. and im glad i did, bc now their hair looks like marshmallow twists! so cute

for their clothes, i kept chenille wearing a kimono (although obviously a much different one, opting for pastel pink and lace instead of highlighter yellow and thin ribbons) and gave her satins leg warmers , while satin has chenilles anklets. for satin, i knew her not wearing a skirt or dress was mandatory; she just looks way better in shorts and trousers while chenille wears skirts. her exact style was VERY SLIGHTLY based on fairy kei, but with how simplified it had to be to fit on a chibi troll body, that isnt particularly obvious. still, i think its sufficiently cutesy enough to contrast chenilles more put together style, which fits since how satin... isnt the brightest, and chenille doesnt tolerate any nonsense (unless it is her own nonsense, of course)

this is unrelated to the design itself, but since they are no longer swedes and are now japanese, for obvious reasons they would not be voiced by icona pop. im not into the jpop scene but im sure theres a popular jpop girl duo out there! or maybe two specific members of a larger group. you 🫵 the audience can decide!

Belladonna Nightshade - Halloween Dark Fairy

Base Doll: G3 Twyla from Monster High Clothing Pattern: Dollightful's Asymmetrical Dress (read to the end, I have notes about this)

Happy Halloween everyone! Since becoming a doll customizer, my Halloween dolls are usually related to my favorite indie horror game, Bendy and the Ink Machine. However, seeing as I've completed two Bendy dolls already this year, I felt it was time to give myself a break and try something a bit different. My friends over in DollyAnna's Discord server wanted to do a collaboration, so we decided to all make some Dark Fairies for Halloween!

Belladonna Nightshade is a mischievous fae that loves to play tricks and tempt mortals. That said, she's easily bribed with a sweet treat or two, and will usually let you be if you have a little candy or pastry to give her. I haven't decided what I want to do with her yet in terms of a story, but there is a part of me that would love to have her in my Equinox story.

When you consider the fact that most of my other Halloween dolls are black and yellow, it's no surprise she ended up super colorful. XD Would you believe this is my first doll with rainbow hair? Yeah neither did I, but she is! Part of my style is having really colorful and vibrant dolls, it surprises a lot of people that I've never done a rainbow before, but honestly? I'm glad to have finally tackled one! I'm also glad to have worked with another G3. Twyla is very near and dear to my heart, and I was so psyched to work with her mold! You can't see it in any of these photos, but I used glow in the dark varnish on her eyes and neon markings, so that her eyes still glow like the original. I will say, this doll has a lot more acrylic paint than my others, just by the nature of I don't have any pencils in neon colors. It was nice to get the practice in, I feel more confident than I did before in my brush skills. It was also nice to have a doll with dark scleras for a change! I haven't done that since I made Dreamer, it's surprisingly fun to draw on!

I was inspired by a LOT of different things with this one, and I went back and forth on my concepts a lot. Black light skeleton make-up, butterflies, fairies with non-traditional wings, candy, jesters, these were all sources of inspiration, and I think most obviously of all, Dollightful herself. This wasn't intentional, but I ended up using a doll of one of her favorite characters, with a lot of saturated colors which we know she loves, and even her dress pattern! I've been wanting to make this garment for ages, and finally I had a reason to try it!

So those of you who know how this pattern works are probably asking "Kat, how did you make this fit a G3? This dress is supposed to fit a G1 Monster High doll!" Believe it or not, Requiem Arts has a method for easily adjusting G1 patterns to fit G3 bodies. It's as simple as scaling a pattern up to 104% and printing it that way. It's meant for her garments, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for other doll patterns. So I tried it with Katherine's dress, and I'm happy to say it worked out just fine! I think I probably should have adjusted a bit more on the skirt though. This outfit is essentially two pieces, and the skirt with all the ruffles is a little tight around the booty, it could have used a little more sizing up. So if you own this pattern and want to try this yourself, do keep that in mind!

Do let me know what you think! I had so much fun working on Belladonna, she's so vibrant and fun, I wanna try more fairies like her someday. I also need to try using props more. I got these pumpkins and hay bales on sale, and it was fun using them to craft a little temporary set for photos.

The explanation for this one is that I just self indulged on furry and emo stuff

For the furry part I think we can guess all hellhounds are based on real life dog breeds which is ehh but ok at least it allows for more character uniqueness instead of all hellhounds looking the same. Anyways, Loona seems more Husky like obvs so I looked I kept her simple coat patterns tho I did add some very exaggerated bottom liner markings because she’s an edgelord. Tho I shrank her tail because tails as big as a character’s body bothers me so much and you can see them all in vivz work. Over all I made her a lot scruffier and messy because I think that would fit the hellhound theme a little better than just hot furry with red eyes.

For the fashion I kept her outfit basically the same because I thinks it’s pretty alright and simple tho I gave her the cute stripped stockings/arm warmers for her emo fashion. I’ve been trying to fit an aesthetic for every character I’ve redesigned so far and I just FELT like emo and specifically 2000s emo would be so good on her and so the stripped patterns reflect that. She also has that long side cut hair but I made it spikier like the crispy spray styled emo hair we know and love.

Over all emo furry became emo-er and I think I prefer the version on the left over the right since the reddish tone is a nicer contrast than the grey scale of the original

✦ AA girls getting boba tea ✦

A few days ago I felt like drawing Ema, Kay, Maya and Franziska hanging out and drinking boba tea, cuz I really like the idea of these four having a friendship group :-D however, I unfortunately couldn't fit all four characters in so I (mostly) cut Franziska from the pic. Sorry Fran fans! I do love her but, I wanted to draw the other three girls a bit more (cuz that's just the mood I was in) and didn't want to stray away from this specific concept as I felt really inspired to draw them walking while chatting with boba tea.

Overall I do like how this picture came out, even if I definitely rushed it a bit (I think this was mostly because I got hyped over getting time to draw again, cuz I've been busy on and off). Unfortunately I lost my favourite brush liner before doing lineart on this and halfway threw my other liner magically dried up! So that was frustrating but, I worked around it and want to regain confidence in using fine liners so kind of a useful problem lol. I also decided to change up how I draw Kay in my art style a little and I think I like it :3 And, really like the outfits I gave the girls. Even if they are simple. They're also summer outfits because Australia is once again breaking the record for hottest summer (and it's still technically spring (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠`⁠；⁠)). Fun fact, Ema is wearing a striped shirt as a reference to the stripe motifs in her aai design!

Now time for boba tea hc's cuz why not XD. Maya has a Taro milk tea with the regular black pearls, because it's purple and in my mind Taro and chocolate being her favourite flavours just makes sense. Kay has a iced tea with lychee jelly (mainly cuz I didn't feel like colouring the jelly but I see Kay liking lychee), idk what flavour her tea is, but it's probably a fruit flavour cuz in my experience ice teas are often fruit flavours. I also have the random hc that whenever Kay gets boba around Miles she gets a weird combo (e.g. chocolate milk tea with green apple pearls) just to see his upset reaction lol.

Ema and Franziska also have boba, you just can see it cuz Ema has them in a shopping bag which Kay is in front of. As for flavours, Ema's is definitely chocolate milk tea cuz her snacks in the English version of the games seem to be similar to tee vee snacks (idk if tee vee snacks are a thing in us, if they aren't they are small long cookies cotted in chocolate, kinda like pocky but much shorter, but thicker and fully coated) though I can also see her getting brown sugar with black pearls. Franziska I could see getting something like the regular tea flavour (which is called "Thai tea" or "original flavour" depending on the boba shop I go to) with no pearls or jelly because in my mind she doesn't like them :P, in general I don't think she'd like a lot of sweet flavours but that's because I hc her as not liking sweet food for no logical reason, my brain has simply decided this ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

EQUESTRIA GIRLS HAVE ALWAYS STRUCK ME AS TERRIBLY UNDESIGNED FROM A DESIGN STANDPOINT and i want to show you how I tried to fix it for my own amusement

Fluttershy, my sweet girl, has always seemed to me to have been left out by the authors in the question of what kind of clothes she might like to wear to include in the design. what the hell are tall boots? what the hell are open tops? no no no no no, that's not good. i think such a modest, but strong schoolgirl would go for a discreet set of clothes - light skinny jeans, ballet flats, a plain white shirt (after all, we are in an educational institution here!) and the crown of the outfit - a knitted cardigan with butterflies, referring both to her cutiemark and to the soft warm-loving vibe. she has a fairly light shade of both hair and fur, so she's a light colored girl with blonde long curls and turquoise eyes.

Applejack sometimes undeservedly makes her too inexpressive in terms of muscles, which suits her very well, but sometimes they move too far away from the “femininity” in her face and body (according to my personal preference), which is why she ceases to be read as exactly that character, which we see in games. so i tried to convey the harmony of her beautiful strong body and “femininity”. the only character that the original design boots look good on is the cool country thing (as do wide-leg jeans, a cute two-tone shirt and a RED KERCHIEF WITH RED BOWTS). her earrings reference a cutiemark! i removed the hat because, although it is an Apple feature, it looks out of place as part of a school outfit. let's assume she wears it when not in class. she is a strong girl with simple features, but with gorgeous blonde curls… tanned, freckled, with beautiful green eyes. exactly the way i read her original pony version.

Rarity is simply a beauty, an irresistible lady. she was probably the least in need of correction in my eyes (not counting the damn boots, my God, they were so out of place). her jewelry is a pretty obvious cutie mark reference, and her skirt is a different style to highlight her hips. a plain blouse turned into a luxurious jumper (?) with a chic neckline. dark nylon tights, elegant shoes - everything to look the most chic and stylish in school. I think this look suits her terribly. she is a very fair (most likely she takes great care of her skin in this regard) girl with brown hair and charming blue eyes. all this in her is diluted by a cute gap between her front teeth, which she is proud of.

Rainbow Dash for me will always be a schoolgirl with not the most expressive muscles, but with unreal strength! that's why she doesn't have as muscular a body as Applejack, but everything else about her says, no, SCREAMES that she's a first-class runner and certainly not a weakling! she has a light tracksuit, cool sneakers, a cool jacket, cool eyebrow piercings, cool ear piercings, a cool scar on her leg, cool colored hair (slightly grown out), generally everything is cool. she has wheat hair and light brown eyes. if Rarity is the most beautiful and fashionable girl in school, then she is the coolest and she knows it.

Twilight is a diligent, nerdy student who i associate with magicians (those with cool frilly shirts and huge hats), which i wanted to reflect in her image. so she's in a rather old-fashioned, but interesting way - a knee-length plaid school skirt, a shirt with puffy sleeves and a big bow, asian school shoes. yes, yes, yes, she is asian with the typical skin tone and straight black hair. i love how Twilight’s character fits perfectly with the image of an asian student, accustomed to studying for something more in the future, well-read and erudite.

Pinky is simply a wonderful girl with a bright image to match her character. instead of the typical skirts and blouses, i tried on a denim sundress and sneakers with large knee socks, as well as a huge pile of jewelry: friendship baubles, earrings, pendants, more baubles, hairpins, badges - a chaotic image, like Pinky herself. her natural hair color is red, so she's a blue-eyed curly redhead, which just suits her!!!!

the designs of the princesses in Equestria Girls struck me as so tasteless in their entirety even more than the designs of the mane six. they had to be remade very radically, so they are more of a bonus! further there will be more headcanons along with comments directly about the designs.

Celestia is a cool, elegant, wise principal (that’s what the students think of her, Luna doesn’t think so) and her image emphasizes this. the headmistress doesn’t belong with colored hair, so i interpreted her mane as a beautiful neck scarf to go with her crimson suit. a golden brooch in the shape of a sun, a golden watch, a golden hairpin in the shape of a laurel - this is all about her status and services to the school. she has wheat hair and purple eyes - an extremely rare phenomenon, but it does occur in real life. she works to organize student learning experiences, field trips to museums, and more hands-on learning opportunities. although she really does a lot for the school, many do not notice how much rests on the shoulders of the vice-principal, standing somewhere behind Celestia at all events…

Luna is the vice-principal of the school, whose merits are often belittled. she always bears all the bureaucratic part of the work, she is engaged in a bunch of duties that require a long time of reading and double-checking documents, drawing up reports and working with other papers. most often she sits in her office and is often the last one to leave school. she is not Celestia’s sister, but they have known each other for so long that it’s like they really are sisters (there are legends around the school about whether they are related or not). she has a silver brooch in the shape of a month and a laurel hairpin similar to Celestia's. she has thick, dark, curly hair and a streak of gray hair from her temple, caused by stress at work, and blue eyes. no matter what, she sincerely loves her students and tries to organize their time at school besides studying (clubs, events and movie nights are all her initiatives).

Okay, so... I did all of the models from the Deltarune Brawl piece and lined them up. I also did a bonus Undertale fight screen version down below along with Soul types. I'll explain why I made the design choices I did for appearances along with explaining the Mobian Soul types.

Design Notes:

✨Stardust✨

Stellar's design is an almost fusion between her normal look and villain look, however she was granted shoes and a storage belt to carry items.

Camellia got a more modified princessy design that also felt more adventure oriented. Now with proper boots and a seperated two piece instead of a dress, she'd be able to move around a lot more easily.

Rime's hands and feet are actually now iced over, making her attacks much more volatile. But by contrast, her actual outfit appears more sleek and tight-fitted since most of the detail went into her hands and feet.

Sunshine is also a primary Healer, with her scarf being modified into a more cape-like appearance. She was also given a cross bag and connected belt with a pouch for extra storage.

Arthur is heavily knight focused with his design taking the most pointers from Kris.

Orion is pretty streamlined, with the only thing to note being the protective shoulder guards and the side cape. He is definitely a warrior type, but I opted for something slightly fancy while allowing for ease of movement and some protection.

Terios is also an attack oriented Mage, with a much longer cape and a cross belt to keep everything secure. The bracelets are just for decoration.

Juice doesn't like clothes at all since they're too restrictive, so to keep in line with her character I simply kept her original bracelet and just gave her a simple belt to tie the look together. And put her quills down. Her psychic wings are now always active and visible.

Keira actually comes with a retractable scythe, which can normally look like a sword and can be used as such on first glance. But with special attacks, it comes out like a scythe. Other than that her outfit was changed to allow for more movement.

Estelle's original outfit surprisingly fit deltarune, so I kept most of the original elements but chose to remove some of the capes for ease of mobility.

Kaiko was given visible vines and flowers in his quills and on his arm to signify him having plant powers. His original outfit was also modified to appear more combat oriented.

Maria always struck me as a combative type, hence her design wasn't changed too much besides providing extra protection in case she got hurt.

Tulip's outfit mainly serves mobility, however it does lack the shoes and gloves due to preference and not for convenience like some other characters.

Sakura's mainly a healing Mage, with her design being soft and calming as a result. Not much to say here besides thinking a cloak would look nice on her.

Nymph maintains her princess look with a more streamlined and less restrictive look. The skirt is also a back high low to prevent it from snagging from behind if she ran.

Rosemary was dressed in a more guarded and combative style, with the short skirt being a more stylistic choice and to provide some extra protection from injury.

Mallow is definitely more armored with knightly gear. But since she originally came with a dress I decided to give her a skirt instead.

Meredith is a more attack oriented Mage, and as such her outfit appears both flowy yet elegant. Even without armor the outfit is quite protective where it needs to be.

Naomi is very focused on both protection and movement for attacking, so her outfit comes with wrist and shoulder guards to protect from attacks along with sleek long gloves and socks with only the elbows, knees, and toes exposed for better flexibility. She also has a belt with a pouch for extra storage.

Azarael is a slightly modified version of her original outfit. She also has small fins at the backs of her legs to swim more efficiently but that's about it.

Character Types and Role explanations:

Each character has a primary strength and weakness of the group. This is mainly intended for balancing purposes.

The knights score in high defense but middle in attack and can't use magic.

Warriors have the highest attack and are somewhat skilled in magic, but lack defense hence they can get downed easily.

And mages have the highest magic casting, middle in defense, but lack the strongest attack.

For our roles we have...

Knights: Arthur, Rosemary, Naomi

Warriors: Stellar, Camellia, Rime, Sunshine, Orion, Keira, Maria, Mallow, Azarael

Mages: Terios, Juice, Estelle, Kaiko, Tulip, Sakura, Nymph, Meredith

And now, for the soul types.

Mobian Souls share attributes with human souls, yet respond quite differently with their own unique abilities. Everyone has a special soul type in accordance to their color. However, Determination is a human soul ONLY. It cannot be found in a Mobian or Monster. They also go by different names but still share similar qualities to the human variants.

Pink: Understanding. Special Ability: Teleportation.

Orange: Courage. Special Ability: Endurance

Yellow: Fairness. Special Ability: Strength.

Green: Compassion. Special Ability: Healing

Cyan: Humility. Special Ability: Levitation.

Blue: Righteousness. Special Ability: Shielding.

Purple: Persistence. Special Ability: Energy Orbs

And for main method of attacking:

Human Alastor (FTM trans headcanon)

Commentary below:

Here, Alastor is shown at four different stages of his human life:

Childhood - around 12 years old

“Voodoo Killer” - late teenage years

Jazz Musician - early 20s

Radio Star - later adulthood to time of death

His career as a serial killer started when he was around 12 years old and continued up until his death.

The three stages of his adult life are supposed to correspond with different aspects of his demon form’s hairstyle.

During the “Voodoo Killer” stage, he straightened his hair and styled it similarly to his demon form’s hairstyle. However, he did not have an undershave. If viewed from the back, it would look like a simple bob. His appearance is inspired by Clementine Barnabet. I intended for his tignon to be tied in a similar manner to Clementine’s. Additionally, the bandages wrapped around his legs are meant to make him look a little like Voodoo Queen Lala from the 1930s. I gave him bandages instead to make him look like more of an edge lord (lol). The cross worn was originally his mother's. After she died, he painted it black in mourning. He wears it at all times, up until his death, to remember her.

During the “Jazz Musician” stage, he kept his hair short in order to pass for male. This is supposed to correspond with the back side of Alastor’s demon form, which is shaved short. His appearance is inspired by Jelly Roll Morton, one of my favorite Jazz musicians, who also happens to be Creole. Not visible in this pose, but Al wore black gloves that match the color of his hair. 

During the “Radio Star” stage, several aspects of Alastor’s appearance are inspired by the late, great Cab Calloway. Like Cab, Alastor styled his hair in a conk. His suit is also inspired by the iconic white suit worn by Cab Calloway.

That being said, creative liberties were taken with Al’s white suit, which is anachronistic for the 1930s. Cab famously wore zoots, but I don’t think that would be Alastor’s style. Since I know so little about 1930s fashion, I gave up and didn’t attempt to give him a historically accurate suit. Instead, his tuxedo is based on the one he wore in the pilot. There are several anachronisms present in Alastor’s canon design, so it might actually fit his character to wear a suit atypical of the 1930s. This could preserve the otherworldly, “Willy Wonka”-esque presence that he has, even on Earth. Still, it’s a pretty glaring historical inaccuracy. Once we get to see Al’s canon human form, I might redesign him.

Since Alastor would have more than one suit, I didn’t worry too much about the inaccuracies present in his clothing. The one thing I refused to compromise on was his microphone.  In the TV show, Alastor’s iconic microphone is a vintage ribbon mic. However, this “pill capsule” style looks more similar to models that were only invented after Alastor’s death. Here’s an example of a ribbon mic that was rolled out shortly before Alastor’s death: The RCA Type 77-A. As you can see, it’s a lot larger in size than Alastor’s microphone.

In order to be more historically accurate, I discarded this design. Instead, I gave him a spring microphone, technology that is more iconic of the 1920s/1930s. 

Here’s an image of Cab Calloway in front of a spring microphone, one year after Alastor’s death:

I took some creative liberties with the flag of Alastor’s microphone. Normally, it is supposed to say the radio station. Since I don’t know what radio station Al’s show aired on, I just had it read “ON AIR” in red.

Importantly, Alastor’s suit has to match the design of his microphone, which is an extension of himself.

The backside of the microphone is supposed to look like an eye, and have a bit of an ominous presence.

A headcanon I have is that Alastor had a severe case of stress-induced vitiligo. Because he was very egotistical, this was a source of shame for him, so he hid it with makeup and clothing. Al’s colors are mostly browns, whites, and black, to keep with the deer theme. The black tips of his shoes are supposed to look a bit like deer hooves. I pictured his height as 5’10, one inch taller than Michael Dillon. Since the average male height was around 5’7, Al was still taller than most men, which made it easier to pass for male.

In addition to Clementine Barnabet, Jelly Barnabet, and Cab Calloway, FTM Al’s appearance is largely inspired by the famous biracial drag king Stormé DeLarverie.

I picture Alastor having a darker complexion than Stormé, or Cab Calloway for that matter. Compared to Stormé, his nose and eyes are different (his eyes are supposed to have the same shape as his mother’s. distinctly African, not European at all) but his mouth, jawline, and overall facial structure are similar. He’s basically supposed to be a much less white-passing version of Stormé DeLarverie. Because he was born around year 1900, Al would not have had access to any form of medical transition. He would be physically indistinguishable from a cisgender drag king.

I also picture his physical build being pretty similar, but he’s taller (I’m not sure how tall Stormé was, but I don’t think she was 5’10) and skinnier. He’s supposed to have a really striking appearance, where he’s really slender but really tall for someone born in his time, and he has an androgynous face.

In my more recent drawings, the drag king Alberta “Bert” Whitman has also served as visual inspiration for human Alastor:

oh finally making that post on lore olympus and rachel smythe's supposed 'decline in art style' before I forget about it .

so in the original post, the blogger jokingly edited this tweet in reference to the original tweet on the right made by infamous ex-tumblr fan artist rcdarts. my problems with this post stems from in my opinion an unwarranted comparison and kind of 'grasping at straws' type of complaint to the way lore olympus' art looks. op of the post makes it seem like Smythe's art devolved; but if this is the type of critique you're trying to make it's got pretty weak legs to stand on. the above pictures are not good examples if you're trying to have a valid argument that lore olympus' proto art is better than how the comic ended up looking. you can argue that the character designs of the series are boring and safe considering they're based off of Greek gods as opposed to say the art in the supergiant Hades series. That's all well and good but to say that legitimately that first picture with gray Hades and orange Persephone is 'better' than the second feels disingenuous. From a technical standpoint, the art of the second image is better. The art in the first picture while decently drawn is much flatter and dull than the second. Second pic is definitely more visually interesting and has better usage of its colors/painting style. Though the palette is limited there's still visual depth and volume to it. Design wise I get a much better read of who these characters are and what they're like. Also second pic Hades and Persephone are much better proportioned than the first. Albeit it first pic looks like a wip, Hades' head looks huge in comparison to Persephone's (her torso also looks like it's kind of just floating over his, the limited composition and coloring doesn't make it feel like these two are actually touching/interacting with each other). I think a lot of the smoke lore olympus got (and still gets) is due to the main characters looking like a stereotypical 'booktok' romance couple; Hades being a tall sharp featured fit man in a suit and Persephone being a big bright eyed button nosed Disney princess esque young woman. But the first pic doesn't even divert from those tropes. It's pretty much the same visual dynamic except Hades gives less sugar daddy/mafia boss and more academic(?) shut in. And Persephone's is face is less rounded and her hairs shorter but that's about it in terms of design differences. I've never read lore olympus and don't plan to so I can't give any actual criticism to the series, but in this specific case where we're just judging art and visuals the claim of the older art being 'better' seems unfounded. I think what a lot of people that rag on how the series looks hate it because Smythe's style is very much a product of when she started getting popular. It's very much that early to mid 2010s tumblr fantasy style that a lot of women artists were doing (hence why I feel low-key why this and also Steven universe had/has so many haters is mainly due to misogyny, this is a very feminine art style). y'all need to understand that a person developing a more simplistic style is not equal to their skill devolving. The comparison to rcdarts to me is unjustified cause rcdarts actually did change for the worst. like how I just said simpler style =/= worst art, but rcd's work not only got simple but less visually interesting, less dynamic, utilized more static and dull posing/coloring, and over exaggeration to the point where characters were unrecognizable.

Natah has taken charge of leading the system, being a surprisingly sweet overseer-figure for her headmates... Margulis is struggling with the post-war origin system and the circumstances of her resurrection... And Lotus is trying her best to soothe her while being an anxious little ball of Sentient nerves.

Post-New War. Lotus, Natah and Margulis struggle (a Lot) with their newfound plurality, paralleling the Operator and Drifter's journey on getting to understand each other and themselves.

Lotus was chosen to lead the system, but Natah and Marg are awful at teamwork and they hate each other very loudly, giving Lotus horrible headaches on top of her unaddressed PTSD.

Unfortunately on hiatus because balancing the tone of this fic is Rough; i have a lighthearted writing style but my headcanons for Lotus' trauma can get very heavy. I have lost the plot many times!!

This also started primarily as a DrifterLotus fic before i realized that what the Lotus Headmates have with each other is way more compelling, but this fic has a lotta hits and Kudos for many good reasons so don't worry, I'm not marking it abandoned yet...
