Where do they get their information from? Like seriously. Do they do no research at all?

Physical therians obviously exist. Being a therian IS BEING AN ANIMAL. IT IS BEING NON HUMAN. You can’t ostracize anyone who’s just… being a genuine therian? Using the label the way they’re supposed to?

I think it has to do with the fact tiktok likes to take communities and water them down to just an aesthetic. I’ve noticed a trend where people on tiktok seem to only care about the looks of these communities, and not about the actual meaning or lifestyles of them. They’ll refuse to do actual research and put any effort into understanding it, and then have the gall to police and shun the people who use the labels and ACTUALLY know what they mean. I’m tires of seeing “therians KNOW they aren’t animals!!” “People who say they’re not actually human are so weird!!” type of content everywhere on that side of tiktok. It’s so frustrating and so tiring to be searching for nonhuman content and only coming across these types. 90% of nonhuman tiktok just a watered down aestheticized roleplay-adjacent version of it full of people who refuse to research and treat anyone who’s a genuine nonhuman like they’re crazy or weird.

Maybe I’m being too harsh. I dunno. I’m just upset about this.

(Also yes! I know there are plenty of therians/otherkins there who know what they’re talking about! I don’t mean every nonhuman on tiktok, just these specific kinds.)

Hey @ non-religious angelkin: what's that like?

By which I mean...do you relate your angel-ness to something other than religion? Do you treat the religion from which your type of angel originates as mythology/fictional rather than your actual beliefs? Especially for angelkin who used to be religious and were angelkin when they were religious but aren't religious anymore.

I left Christianity a few years ago and was angelkin under its framework but lost touch with that since I left it and didn't feel like I could still be an angel but didn't really identify with being a fallen angel because, in the tradition I grew up with, that's fully synonymous with "demon" and I don't feel connected to demons (at least currently; my system recently split alters who might cause that to change but it can't be counted on).

I'd like to reconnect with being angelkin, but since it was always tied up in religion to me, I don't really know how to do that anymore or if that's even possible. I'm not an angel of God anymore and can't be ever again but I don't know if I fully identify with being an angel of Satan either. So if anyone knows anything about being angelkin outside of being religious or having positive associations with God, I'd like to hear about that.

get yourself a special comb to keep with you or comb your hair with

sing!! a lot! practice things like projection and sounding haunting

practice wailing/banshee screaming as well!

adding onto the above, make sure to properly learn vocal safely like warmups, cooldowns, and proper technique. you don’t want to hurt your vocal folds!

dye your hair silvery colours like greys, whites, silvers, or just a more silvery version of any colour you like!

red hair is also a common colour for banshees if you prefer!

many myths of banshees describe them wearing grey cloaks and green dresses, so incorporate those colours and items into your wardrobe!

find modern day media with banshees in it, like Dungeons and Dragons!

learn more about the history of the banshee! learning about irish culture, folklore, and language is deeply fascinating!
