This blog is dedicated to the markov namegen name stashes.

You can use names generated for free and for any purpose!

Each post contains 444 names, sometimes 888 (because I add an alternative version of the list with different generation rules out of the same seed/input) or <444 (because the site couldn't combine enough names). This number is chosen for no particular reason.

You can suggest seeds/source material for new name stashes in personal messages, comments, or the ask box.

Note that all names presented are randomly generated, thus I do not carry any responsibility if any of them sound bad, carry rude or explicit meaning in some and any language (you gotta check it yourself before you use it, okay?) and if any of them match already existing real or fictional people names, or are just words. If you want to, get to know how the Markov generator works.

You can easily browse the names using this link. Just go there and press "Ctrl+f" or "Ctrl+g" which will activate a search on page pop-up menu in your browser, then just find anything your heart desires.

Again, I don't separate names by gender because 1) too much work and 2) it's up to you if some name sounds feminine or masculine. Same with pronunciation.

Really losing interest in this blog lately. Hope I don't stop posting completely because I like doing stuff on here.

At some point in mid-September 2023 I've changed the formatting of the posts in an attempt to attract more followers. Older posts will remain as they are, while all new ones will be done the way they are right now with a possibility of me dropping the idea sometime in the future.

going to say something about writing that is not a complaint and i know it sounds exactly like someone complaining but the conclusion i have drawn is that this rules. preface over am currently "working on" (in the most generous, nebulous sense possible) an original fantasy story & i just keep finding more stuff about the world i need to decide because it feels extremely formative to me even though it will barely appear on the page, if at all

but like... just the sheer volume of communication irl that happens symbolically that you never question becomes so apparent when you try to create a world that doesn't have those things or doesn't have the conditions for such a thing to be created. writing a character wearing a wedding ring and then going wait a minute— would these people communicate marital status via ring placement? why do we do that irl? when did we start? surely thats not the only way people ever communicate marriage— what does everyone else do? and really, come to think of it, what does it mean to be 'married' in this fictional world i'm creating? is there a legal component or just a social one? should it have all the same connotations/obligations as the real world (e.g. monogamy, having children, romantic love, impact on finances, etc)?

you can do this with literally Everything In The World. what language is everyone speaking? is it the same one? how many languages are there in the region i'm writing about? is the language we're speaking anyone's second language? when did they learn? is bilingualism common? and where does everyone here live? speaking of living, is that a permanent dwelling situation or are people nomadic? what's the climate like? are all the characters here used to the climate or is someone used to ten degrees cooler and kind of short tempered because of it? the clothes are probably impacted by the weather, what's everyone wearing? what's it made out of? what would be around here that could be used for dye? help me i have a case of worldbuilders disease and its incurable. these motherfuckers are never going to finish this journey because i cant even get them on the page long enough to pack a cart. also would they use carts? when did we start having cart and carriages pulled on roads irl? if there's roads, who's maintaining them— or is it just the path from years of people travelling that way? does the terrain allow for wheeled vehicles or would some other way be better?

anyway. you may call all this a waste of time and "not technically writing" since i "havent written any prose". i think im just slow cooking this novel. oooooh im thinking about it so much. you just wait when im like 56 im going to knock your socks right off with my intricate detailed world where i thought about everything except whatever element of society you understand most deeply. that part i fucked up and clearly didn't know anything about. sorry

So um here’s some characters from a Hatchetfield au I got an idea of. More information after the break. But also if you wanna know more I’m happy to share. I don’t have a lot right now but ideas are flowing.

Prince Howard Goodman the “eldest” and crown prince of the royal family. He’s a very diplomatic person but not great in a fight.

Captain John MacNamara the captain of the royal guard. Charged himself with the responsibility of Keeping Prince Howard safe.

Captain Wiley, formally Wilbur Cross captain of the royal guard now a pirate. He’s actually technically the first mate of the Wiggly as it’s captain is the god Wiggog Y’Wrath but Wiley tends to take care of all the heavy lifting when it comes to others.

Douglas Keane an orphaned amnesiac named for his adoptive father Douglas Keane Sr the former captain of the guard that keeps their little island town safe. Douglas Keane was nicknamed Duke of the Lost or Duke for short not only due to his own past but also because he runs the islands only orphanage and takes care of any kid that needs it.

Captain Holloway is a witch that also just so happens to be a pirate on occasion. She used to be the apprentice to the kings magician but after an accident she had to flee as no one could remember who she or a friend of hers were.

Sheila Young is a noble woman who has a tendency to dabble in both the dark arts and piracy. A noble woman gets bored of the monotony of courtly life after all. She and Holloway have a difficult relationship.

ok but adaine showing up in fallinel for oracle things with the court of stars and the one member she is related to notices a dragon courting gift she’s wearing [it’s one of oisin’s scales on a necklace with an abjuration rune on it which notifies oisin if she’s ever attacked while she’s out on her own]

and it’s not an engagement per se but so openly wearing a dragon’s scale is quite significant because it signals to the world that this person has a dragon devoted solely to them

so they send along word to the family and adaine is sucked into a family meeting of sorts with the family matriarch (grandma) and is given the run down on how to run the family once she’s gone and turned into stardust forever and she interrupts her saying “but im an adventurer-“

and before she can finish her sentence grandma goes “no one said oisin cant also help with running things. speaking of him tell him i want to see him.” and wont move in until adaine messages her paramour to teleport to the (soon to be theirs) cursed ass castle because grandma is requesting his presence

and then it’s them two having a very in depth tour of the castle and how to run things when the family is so large and spread out across the world

and at the end of the day adaine and oisin are laying in the room that has become theirs when visiting fallinel and are quite ready for a reality, but not quite yet, where they are the heads of a loving family that they will oversee in the long years they will spend together getting old and grey

The worst part is— The worst part is—

That Adaine STILL doesn't know which person on the Court is her cousin! Absolutely no idea! They're all just sitting there wearing those silly hooded robes and never looking directly at her! Her family has explained them to her, but all the Court members are so covered that she can't figure out which is her cousin!

And obviously it doesn't really matter, but it's the principal of the thing! She got fucking tattled on to grandma by someone who she's never even spoken to! The audacity!

If she's being honest with herself, it's her own fault. Adaine knew that she was risking the privacy from her family by showing up to Fallinel with Oisin's gift, but he just looked so wounded when she considered taking it off for the meeting and she was banking on this cousin being just as unaware of her as she is of them. Obviously not. How are they even in contact with the family when they never leave that damn room?? Do they have a crystal???

The letter from her grandma summoning her to the castle wasn't especially surprising, and I don't think Adaine would even be worried about it because why would she be? If it had been her parents, yes, it would've been awful for a lot of reasons, but her grandma is cool as hell and was literally married to a whole ass dragon once and isn't gonna freak out over one grandchild being in love with a dragonborn. And Adaine is right! Her grandma is super chill! Too chill. Oh god, she's happy.

Adaine finds herself in her grandma's greenhouse/gallery/tearoom under the skeleton of a dragon (it's Grandma Abernant's favorite room, where she reads books aloud to Valdraxia's skeleton and keeps her late wife up to date on the family gossip) and receiving an extremely long lecture about what it means to grow older and the responsibilities of running a family as large as theirs and how Adaine really doesn't need to give up her life or adventures as long as she has a supportive partner (or two or seven or forty, Grandma's been married A LOT). She even goes into a lot of detail about the difficulties of marrying non-elves and the differences in lifespan and how there's ways to get around that, wink wink, nudge nudge.

(What Grandma Abernant doesn't say, at least not out loud, is that she's tired. She loves her children and grandchildren like the moon loves the stars, and she doesn't look a day over 400, but she's lived for a very very long time and she feels every single one of her years even if you can't see them on her face. She misses her wife, the only one of her many marriages that really meant something, and has found herself pressing her lips to Valdraxia's skull and whispering about how they'll be together soon. She's waited so long for a child or grandchild to be ready to take her place, and now Adaine is here and Grandma Abernant knows she'll be able to rest.

How long has it been since she's been anyone other than Grandma? How long has it been since she was just Amarthriel?)

Grandma Abernant also talks a lot about housespouses (castlespouses?) and the long tradition of adventurers having spouses who can help manage the family and estate. Why, even Grandma was an adventurer back in the day, didn't anyone tell Adaine that? She asks a million and one questions about Oisin and basically tells Adaine that he would probably be right at home in the castle, with its giant library and treasure vaults and the many, many, many curses to break. Don't look at your grandma like that, Adaine, breaking curses is fun. It's a puzzle. All wizards love a good puzzle.

Fast forward 20 minutes and Oisin is there, in clothes he hastily threw on because it's like 3 in the morning and he had to teleport very suddenly, with absolutely no idea what's going on. Grandma has retired to. . . somewhere else in the castle, presumably, and he and Adaine are being given a tour by one of Grandma's daughters from a later marriage, an extremely bored and deadpan elf who does not seem at all bothered by being summoned to her mom's house out of nowhere to give a couple teenagers a tour.

They are shown the library (with cursed books), the treasury (with cursed gold), a few of the many treasure vaults (with cursed treasure), the armory (with cursed armor), the gardens (with cursed plants), one of several massive baths (with cursed water), the kitchens (with cursed food), the gallery (with cursed paintings), the nursery (with cursed toys), the dining room (with cursed dishes), the ballroom (with cursed instruments), one of the clothing vaults (with cursed gowns), the wine cellar (with cursed wine), the empty dungeons (with cursed spirits), the jewelry vault (with cursed jewels), the spellcrafting room (with cursed everything), and a variety of other weird rooms with a lot of curses. So many curses. Why are there so many curses?

When Oisin asks that, Adaine's aunt looks at him like he's an absolute fool and explains that the castle was a gift from Valdraxia and obviously everything needed to be the absolute best quality for her wife and that includes the curses. This. . . explains absolutely nothing to Oisin who is very sleep deprived and just does not get what's going on. Don't worry Oisin, no one else gets it either.

When they're finally shown to their room (they have to break a minor curse on the bed), Oisin is just kinda. Done with existing for a while. He has been bombarded with so much information and surprises (he apparently has the Abernant family matriarch's blessing?? probably???) and is running on like two hours of sleep but they both still lie together in the giant (and now curse-free) bed, staring up at the canopy embroidered with stars and just sorta. Trying to process everything. In the morning, he'll be hit with this reality, with the knowledge that this is the home he'll share with Adaine one day, a home that will be filled with their children and grandchildren. This is their future and he couldn't be more thrilled. At breakfast, they'll talk to Grandma Abernant and ask more questions and eventually get her to explain the extended lifespand thing (surprise surprise, it involves a cursed room in the castle), but that's for the morning.

In the moment, he and Adaine curl up in the bed together and just go to sleep.

lil bit of ideating on my guy elis because i finally get to play him!!

fun fact he is based off a set i got at a con a couple years ago that was a random dice bag, set of dice, alignment pin, and mini. figured i could throw em all together into a single character design!

so this is elis, chaotic neutral human evocation wizard. in building his sheet and picking out skills and languages & proficiencies and such, he unintentionally ended up with both sign language and a feat that lets him ignore thunder damage resistance when he's casting, so i figured hes probably hoh and specializes in all these loudass thunder spells since they dont really bug him as much.

sorry but like, as someone who doesn't vibe with fem!sub stuff and always ends up dislking fandom obsession with the man in any relationship being a Dominant Daddy Top containing more macho tendencies than personality . . i do also think that framing people liking violence in their sexual fantasies as worrying is um. worrying in and of itself.

like yeah logan being Like That in 'x reader' Old Man Logan stuff seems very ooc to me, too. but i also like animalism and brutality and violence in sex as well, and these things are not inherently abusive or "near rapist" by themselves in fictional portrayals of kink.

i don't hc logan as the macho dom! a lot of fandom for some reason considers "common consensus fanon" lmfao, but i also think that the fine line of fighting and fucking and violence and animalism is something viscerally satisfying to explore in fiction and especially kink. and characters like logan - who do actually have some solid connections to such themes - are some of the best outlets for that.

Anyone else hate the current fantasy romance book titles, "A [blank] of [blank] and [blank]"? Not because they're cliched by now, but because they are so hard to remember! You can literally stick any random 3 cool-sounding things in those blanks and they all sound right. I never have any idea what the title of the book I just read is, and I can never remember the order of the books in a series because the titles are all so interchangeable.
