My apologies if you've answered this before, but is your Discworld Boots Theory comic available as a print somewhere?
And if not, would you be open to printing off a poster sized version for cost + shipping + commission fee?
This is actually a super well timed ask, cause it's literally today that I officially received my national artist status that will allow me to open up an online shop for prints and other stuff!
It's not gonna be up immediately cause there's some bureaucracy I gotta figure out and a shop host to decide on, but it's def in the plans 💪
#if anyone has any experience with different online shop providers/sites let me know#going thru that good ol decision paralysis

👁️ATTENTION ANY LARPERS/POTENTIAL NEW LARPERS FOLLOWING ME👁️
Some of my friends (and also me) recently finished a really cool project - a tiny LARP diary that looks like a passport and is designed to be taken on events and filled in directly after play (or very carefully and aesthetically later at home, if you're into that).

It's got specially designed templates for recording several LARPs, plus a bunch of prompts/bucket lists/bingo boards and empty pages for whatever you want to add.

I made two sticker sheets for it - one is for tiny little symbols you can decorate the pages with to commemorate fun events like dying or stabbing someone, the other is gift stickers for your fellow players. You also get two more that my friend made.

I hate doing promos, but I'm genuinely super hype about it, cause it's the exact kind of thing I wish I had like ten LARPs ago, instead of writing stuff down on a bunch of crumpled loose papers and random notebooks.

I've gotten a couple of questions about how I decided on the actual, almost legal chess moves in the actual, almost legal chess game part of this.
It was some sort of a process and I put it under read more to avoid spoilers.
First of all, it was essential that Vimes starts with an accidental bongcloud opening, because it was very funny to me personally.
The second thing I decided from the get go is that both kings had to end up dead in very specific ways, cause I wanted the whole game to essentially reflect the history of Ankh Morpork - first king getting murked by Vimes using a piece in the king's own court (like Old Stoneface killing Lorenzo the Kind) and second king getting got by Vetinari's bishop during a general revolt (like Vetinari killing Lord Winder).*
Then I set up a practice board and made dubious moves until the three load bearing game points connected in a way that was hopefully both in character and chess-adjacent enough to not anger any chess-enjoyers/bore any chess-haters in the audience. This wasn't that horribly hard cause I reasoned Vimes would want to pawn-revolt instead of playing by the rules anyway and also wouldn't notice any pieces outside of the 3x3 area where the action was happening and Vetinari would just play the worst game of chess he could in order to further his Vimes Studies. This meant I could get away with fucked up bad illegal chess and the rest of the plot just kinda wrote itself based on what the in between moves had to be.
*(In the second chapter we also get the "chess" equivalent of Snapcase going ham on his own populace due to zero checks and balances, then Lord Vetinari's initial guild stalemate reign, then the rise of watch and then maybe something that has yet to come, who knows. But I didn't use a chessboard for those cause they were just playing with action figures at that point.)

CHAPTER 2 OF ""CHESS"" IS HERE
40% LESS CHESS, 10% MORE FISH
#everything I write is a couple of innitial load bearing jokes that end up miraculously connecting by plot#discworld#I had to method act to get vimes chess play right (remember how I used to play chess)

If you're in NYC and you haven't voted yet I'm gonna need you to go tomorrow and rank Zohran Mamdani #1. Tomorrow is the last day for early voting and then you won't get a chance again until Tuesday. It's extremely important that we elect Zohran.
His platform centers the following:
Affordable housing
Freezing the rent
Fast and free busses
Department of Community safety
No cost childcare
City owned grocery stores
Taxing corporations and the wealthy to pay for all of this
Here is a direct link to the platform with more details.
DO NOT RANK CUOMO.
Andrew Cuomo is a rapist. He's a Zionist who is literally on Netanyahu's defense team against the ICC. And his primary interest is upholding the status quo. He's backed by billionaires and landlords. NYC cannot afford a mayor like this.
If you are registered to vote in NYC I'm begging you to do so. We have a real chance here

I've been thinking of the "Can Granny Weatherwax beat Bugs Bunny" question and this is my full take for Discworld characters:
Vimes - Cares too much, too easy to piss off. Has the innate chase instinct that makes characters run into walls with realistic tunnels painted on them. Might get to arrest Bugs Bunny but the beast will just slip out of the handcuffs to help him lock them, then walk out of the jail cell to have a union mandated coffee break.
Ridcully - Classic hunting season scenario, but has enough charisma to probably still get a few good shots off before the inevitable.
Rest of the wizards - No survivors, only Bugs.
Carrot - The intense near-magical narrative aura of well meaning innocence should make him immune, Bugs will likely be forced to be the villain of the episode.
Lord Vetinari - Flattened by a comically large anvil in the first few minutes of the episode, unclear if it was all a part of his long term strategy or not.
Moist - Has the 'lovable trickster getting away with it' energy, but nowhere near Bugs level. Already fell for the "old lady who swallowed a fly" scenario with the stamp slugs once, won't fare any better here.
Death - Definitely one of those "character is trying to avoid death" episodes, would go back and forth. Might actually get to end Bugs but his spirit will reappear in Death's domain and ruin his garden.
Nanny Ogg - The ultimate in anti-Bugs technology, a gleefully annoying old lady who doesn't give a fuck and definitely won't be the first to instigate the plot bearing conflict. This is a full sweep, he's the episode antagonist.
Granny Weatherwax - Too win-motivated to not lose. Would have to break the story to have any chance. Might do it.
Magrat - Will have sappy ideas about helping the poor animal which honestly has the 50:50 chance of either getting slapsticked or Bugs ending in a ye olde stroller&pacifier gag.
Colon&Nobby - Designed in a lab to be totaled by Bugs Bunny.
Tiffany Aching - A child that also has a large pan that is the perfect thing to hit someone over the head with and make a BOIOIOINGGG sound, so great odds.
#this is on looney toons turf#if we're on disc turf then bugs is some sorta narrative causality nuisance and either gets beaten or recruited into the watch#discworld

Aight but the flip side of Granny always winning is that she is extremely bad at losing, she's disc's worst loser, she can't handle it, it's one of her major character flaws. It's portrayed as her being incredibly tenacious and strong when it's about something that matters, but also mean, petty and arrogant when it's about minor, everyday things.
If you put a super prideful and powerful character who has a cartoonishly bad reaction/denial about losing at anything in a Bugs Bunny story, then they have to lose, there's no reason for them to be in there otherwise. Rare occasions when Bugs loses are all against opponents who are even more blasé and underdog-coded than he is (like that stupid ass annoying ass turtle) and he's the petty and over-invested one. The winner is whoever cares less, which will never be Granny.
He'd eat shit against Nanny Ogg though.
something fun about all those "could granny weatherwax defeat kira" "could the infinity train fix izzy hands" sort of tumblr polls is like. there's a smug answer that's just "it depends whose story they're in," like, bugs bunny always wins if the genre is a looney tunes short but if he's in some sort of grimdark action drama then he's just a rabbit and gets shot by a hunter. but the other way to look at those polls is that's the whole question: whose genre rules have priority? there are some characters whose genre rules take priority over whatever story they're in.
here's what i say, granny weatherwax would always defeat kira precisely because granny can't exist in the death note universe without her own genre rules taking over; there's no "if it's a light yagami story then light wins" here because if granny's there it isn't a light yagami story. bugs bunny always wins because whatever story he enters becomes a looney tunes short, he cannot by his nature exist in any other context. the answer to "which our flag means death character could survive black sails?" is stede bonnet and only stede bonnet, because if any other ofmd character enters black sails they become a black sails character and most black sails characters die. but stede is the one who carries the romcom aura and that's part of who he is, if stede enters the world of black sails then black sails is now a romcom, and he's absolutely fine
#he'd get hit by her bathtime karaoke audio assault beam and decide he gotta do something about it#big mistake#that's how you get his ass#granny is one of my absolute favs don't get me wrong tho#her and vetinari are on the same point of hypercometency axis#and also on the two different extremes on the “willingness to get regularly obliterated by the plot” one

Dunno if you’re still writing it but !! I have to let you know that Tar and Tonic Water is so wonderfully written . It’s so funny and witty and I love all your characterizations ESPECIALLY of the voices . The twist of Precipice actually being a bunch of voices in a trench coat was wonderful . And the following fucked up dialogue where Jean had to struggle with a panic attack.. god!! Twas awesome sauce !! Also just the banter !! The first chapter where they did silly little improv was so the everything to me …. Also just how you write Jean is so wonderful . I love the him so much . And Harry too!!! And Kim !!!! Trant also too!! Just !!! Your writing style is so satisfying and you get them so much and it makes me very happy to read :]]]
Thank you sm anon!
I *am* actually still writing it, I'd say the latest chapter is like 60% done, I just suffer from both a bad case of "connective sentences are too boring and repetitive, so I have to force myself to get around to actually doing them" and "doing 5 irl projects at once to survive on this bitch of an earth"
Have a preview tho:
#disco elysium#jean vicquemare#harry du bois#trant heidelstam#tar and tonic water#I will finish it at some point#this is either the last or second to last chapter depending on how much I wild out#ending has been planned since forever
