God I have so much to say about Melinoe's characterization, and the fasinating implications about her future arc/the overarching plot of hades 2. I want to make a larger think piece with pictures but for the moment I'm just going to focus on this one specific thread.

In the wake of the Prometheus reveal, she has a slew of convos about his motivations for siding with Chronos, and the gods basically all go: this is his vengeance for us punishing him a tad cruelly. And Nemesis is like, yeah the gods 100% deserve it. But Meli's responds that he must have more motivation than just vengeance, it can't just be that. But when Prometheus explicitly goes, 'I'm doing this because the gods are horrible to humanity and I love humans,' she basically goes, no he must be lying. That motivation is both too pure, but also humans kind of suck why would you care about them?

Mel's humanity hot takes deserve it's own essay (Ms I think Humans should have never gotten fire and are better when they are dead), and I just want to focus on the former for now. She can not comprehend that Prometheus is fighting the gods for noble reasons. It just does not make sense to her. Mel's world is so black and white. She doesn't understand the nuance of the situation, and the thought that the gods might be actually in the wrong doesn't even get close to crossing her mind.

It's a fascinating (and horrifying) result of her upbringing. Of the constant state of war and the very convenient big bad that is Chronos, the evil monster who stole her family. If she accepts that his side isn't completely evil, that they might even be right in some (even many) respects, she would have to grapple with her whole life. Everything she believes would be thrown into question, the literal thing she was training her whole life for.

She can't have Prometheus fighting for a noble cause, because he fights for Chronos whose the Bad Guy tm. But he also can't be fighting for something as simple as vengeance, because that would also mean she would need to really think about what he's angry about. If the punishment was truly so unnecessary cruel.

When talking to Odysseus about Prometheus, when Ody's saying how much he respected him for stealing the fire despite knowing the consequences, Mel says that it was the price to be paid for breaking Olympus's decree. To her, Olympus's rules are sacred and ultimately good. Unquestionably. Prometheus broke the rules with intent, so to her, why would he be so angry at the consequences? Especially if he knew because of his power they were going to happen.

So he must have another reason, some secret machiavellian plan that drives him. Except as I already said, it brings her right back to him doing it for humanity, which she also can't accept. Because that would be admiting that the gods did something wrong to humans. She twists herself into knots to justify her worldview, and it's fascinating! She's so messy I adore her.

Please Supergiant please the final surface boss has to be a human pleeeaaasse (preferably a living one). Or at least have one (or more) show up in some other capacity. Mel needs to come face to face with the other side and have it utterly destroy her worldview.

And/or have (Pan)Dora betray her for Prometheus, that would also be very fun haha.

the boy is narcoleptic at this point, so it’s never surprising to see him falling asleep out of nowhere 

in his food, after he drank too much, just in the middle of a conversation 

it’s not often because he’s too tired, but there are times where he is actually sleepy

he’s sitting next to you at the large table where everyone is laughing drinking and eating

he’s not as talkative as usual, but you’re with him so no one is questioning him much more than this

you’re taken out of your convo when you felt a weight on your shoulder 

the moment you turned around to yell at the idiot bothering you, you fell completely silent

the idiot is no one other than Ace whose head is now resting on your shoulder while he’s peacefully asleep in this chaos

be sure that everyone will tease you about it ; you’re never free from this 

especially as he does it a few more times again after that day 

he can’t help it, he’s just comfortable around you, how could you blame him

Smoker

he’s not the type to be really demonstrative 

not only because you both need to stay professional, but also because it’s just not how he is 

but sometimes, it’s stronger than his own will 

you make him go soft, softer than he has ever been before 

you’re sitting on his desk, explaining something about what you should do with some pirates troubling around 

his eyes are stuck on you, he can’t help it

you’re too focus on your paper to notice while he doesn’t care much

it’s not that he doesn’t care about what you’re saying, but you are everything he can focus on right now 

he shakes his head a little, stand up from his chair which makes you look back at him 

before you can say anything, his hand is at the back of your head while he leaves a kiss on top of it 

“I’ll go grab coffee, be back in a minute” 

and he leaves you there with yourself and your train of thoughts 

it becomes something usual after that, kissing the top of your head 

it just feels right to him, without being too much

Luffy

you’re never doubting that Luffy is the best and that he can win 

he always win, he’s going to be the pirate king after all

but you can’t help and worry sometimes 

he’s fighting against monsters, and after what you saw at Marineford, you’re always scared something as bad might happen 

you’re not too expressive about it, you don’t want him to think you don’t trust him anymore

but he’s not always as dumb as people could think 

so before a big fight, when you’re all preparing yourselves, he comes to see you

he links his pinky with yours, looking straight into your eyes 

“I’ll make it,” he says with his usual stupid smile, “I have to because I can’t broke pinky promises” 

you want to squish him so hard he would explode, but you also appreciate his reassurance ; you needed this 

he’s all giggling and you can’t help but smile at this view

different guy who also read the goldfinch recently. yippee book club!! theo really is something. voluntary lavender marriage in 2013 is crazy. even crazier that he's doing this as like a decoy beard situation to cover up his fake infatuation with beard prime (pippa) (as soon as she quits her job leaves her fiancé and moves back to the same continent as him the wedding is back on). even CRAZIER that he tells us outright that he is in love with boris and he knows it. and then simply moves on. also i don't know if i really get boris' deal yet but i am loving adult boris' outward attitude of like. this is my gay friend theo who is gay and in love with me. which i will not be discouraging. because i am an #Ally. we used to have sex which was gay of him but i was literally just being nice. in my role as my gay bestie's straight boyfriend. don't worry about it :)

YAYYYYYY. It’s awesome Theo is literally playing 3d chess in his mind at all times. It’s very every comic about L trying to figure out Light and Light trying to throw him off doing 2 minutes of thinking in ten seconds to say something like. I love tennis! Except no one’s trying to entrap Theo they’re just like. Being friendly. While he has charts and a whiteboard and a room of analysts to figure out his response should be “oh definitely! I literally had no gf and lived in an empty suburb of course I hooked up with you what else was there to do. Vs Theo who is at all times calculating the Least Gay Response he can have to anything that is said to him. If he was even 2% less repressed he’d be socially making cracks about how being a straight young antiquer means every woman he meets is 70 years old and in love with him. But he isn’t 2% less repressed so he is terrified of voluntarily putting the word gay/straight in the same sentence as himself in any form in case people start going hey wait a minute. That doesn’t sound right. He DOES know he was/is in love with Boris he DOES know it’s gay to have sex with a man but he’s like. That’s really bad news because I’m not gay. Oh god what do I do about that. The fact that I have done gay things. But can’t be a gay man. And the answer is play 3d appearances chess at all times at every innocuous thing someone says to him. And if/when they slept together as adults he would wake up in the middle of the night to splash water on his face and look into the mirror haunted. Hello incredible fandom and readers :) My heart is so sad this is the second to last episode already. This flew by so fast it's insane. I seriously can't believe it. I have zero idea the wait we will have to endure for the hiatus. We shall see at Upfronts this year. That's my assumption anyways about where those details will be. Anyways I liked most of the episode except for the Randy stuff. He's just not my cup of tea.

I would honestly take more Rodge than him if i'm being honest. I know he seems to be a favorite for some though. So no disrespect to those who do enjoy him. I'm glad they got an episode with him in it. This is an ensemble cast and all and should be treated as such. But for me I cringe anytime I watch him. He's a bit much for my liking. That being said besides him it was a solid episode in terms of ensemble and all that.

Shawn really has crushed the opportunities he's gotten this year. So glad he's gotten more screen time. Also I'll take me some 'Harpez'. all day. I legit just found out that's their melded names and I love it haha Bad ass mama's getting it done. Never complain to see Alyssa and Mekia on my screen. This one will be shorter than last week for sure since our content was low but good nonetheless. Let us start on this ep shall we?

7x17 Mutiny and Bounty

We start off with an incredibly anxious Lucy. The Sergeants exam results are coming out today. Melissa always does such a good job conveying emotion through her body language alone. I wanna just hug the stress out of her. Or have Tim do that....It's radiating out of her. Luckily Celina has an issue she can focus on. Something to distract her immense stress. Kind of like the last time in 6x03 when Tim used the day to distract her.

What I loved about this episode were the parallels I noticed, especially in comparison to her detective exam. In s6 it was Tim having her co-train Celina with him. Now it's Celina inadvertently distracting her with her Rodge problem. Just fun full circle stuff I appreciated. Lucy needing this and jumping on the train to help her pick something out. She would've helped anyways, but doesn't hurt it also serves as a much needed distraction.

Only reason I picked out this scene to do was Lucy's replies. I loved them so much. Also gives so much insight into what she wants out of a relationship. Her saying she likes getting to know shared values and goals. No doubt that is something her and Tim most definitely have in common. For the most part lol Whether they had a convo like that when they were dating idk. I assume they did on some level. Her following that up with women just want to be listened to. Ding ding ding. 10 points to Lucy Chen. That's legit all we want is to be heard. Valued of course but to have healthy communication is paramount. It's why Chenford fell apart the first time.

It was their fractured communication as a couple that ultimately pulled them apart. It's also why this entire season's slow burn has been so important. To slowly rebuild that communication between them. To rebuild them in general. So when they do get back together they'll be stronger for it. So that they can move towards an engagement and marriage when they reunite. This season preps them for those next stages in a way they weren't ready for before. So that communication she's talking about, that feeling of being heard, it’s a big part of why Tim has been so successful with her this year. How he's inched his way back into her life.

That open and honest communication he's demonstrated is everything. It's a promise when they reunite that their communication will be better. So suffice to say Tim has been fulfilling that need quite well this season. Not only that but truly listening to her. Never once shaming her for spiraling or sharing. Only building her up when she does. Being a rock and a listening one at that. When they finally reconcile, it’s going to feel so worth it because we watched them slowly rebuild, piece by piece, all season long. Lucy saying it's the foundation of a real relationship. She is spot on. Also that's been this entire season for them. Tim rebuilding that foundation with her. Rebuilding their foundation.

Tim Bradford in a suit. Mmm gimme. I will take this all day long. Thank you writers. *fans self* They’ve taken care of me Tim wise this season phew lord. I am well fed. Man wears the hell out of suit. Good Lord I can't get enough of it. I'm a very happy girl with this brief shot of him in it. I also love this scene for the Miles/Tim of it all. It's so cute.

Oh Texas, your metaphors are so out there. Like you're speaking another language my friend. LOL Tim's reply of ignoring the country commentary haha Tim is all business and Miles is bright eyed and bushy tailed. Their dynamic is so good I love it so much. It gives off some of the same vibes as his relationship with Aaron IMO. Miss you Aaron. Del Monte loving his spirit and attitude. Says his personality can go a long way with a jury.

Tim ending it with 'Not with your T.O. though.' lol Oh Timothy, wouldn't be you without a little bit of your hard edge. Like his work, kid, he has to make sure he stays on track, despite the compliment. Doesn't want it to affect him in his questioning. Did love the opposing lawyer saying it was too much handsome in one hallway. HA He wasn't wrong.... They're all very good looking men. Deric is like 35 and not in his early 20s like I thought. So I don't have to feel weird about thinking he's an attractive man LOL

We rejoin Celina's birthday crisis about Rodge. This is giving me 2x04 vibes. Lucy is adorable and says they need to call some "experts." The boys. Seeing if they can give any insight into what a man would want. Now this cracked me up because Tim was of course going to bomb this. He is an expert in all things Lucy Chen. There is zero doubt. It reflected in every gift he gave her while they were together. They were tailored to her and thoughtful af. Asking his opinion on a guy he barely knows? He's gonna give S2 clueless answers LOL I love you Tim haha

His reply is so Tim Bradford. I am dying laughing. 'Whisky and a good cigar.' My old man being an old man. haha I love him so much I cannot. I do adore her going to Tim for this though. He’s been her go to a lot lately and I’m here for it. Their banter taking over for a moment. Lucy, giving him crap, saying, 'That’s what you would give a father-in-law, not a twenty-something man.' She's not wrong.....Better hold onto that idea though Lucy, if you guys ever have a daughter and some guy tries to impress Tim with a gift. That'll be his in with Tim birthday wise. Well maybe lol

Miles chimes in like the precious little nugget he is. Asking what his love language is? They land on a song and Tim is not about it. Saying he's professional. It'll never work. My goodness Timothy. You only have a romantic sense of things when it's Lucy I swear. lmao Miles is even cuter when he says doesn't have to be perfect. Just heartfelt. It's true. Anything like that is always warmly received like that. Truly come to love Miles so much. So glad he's full time next year.

They return to the station and Lucy is bursting. Knowing they are possibly walking toward her results. She is so pent up Lucy calls Tim 'Bradford'. Whoa. Holy hell. I can’t remember a time she’s ever called him by his last name alone…Someone can correct me if she has but I can’t remember one right now. Basically shouts his name at him. Catching his attention immediately. She adds a soft. "Hi.' to soften the blow a bit. Not that it does any good, because Tim’s already bracing himself for whatever storm is coming his way lol

I do love Tim’s response asking what he did? haha Such a husband response my love. Celina explains what's going on. Sadly Tim has to be the one to tell her the crappy news. That the results are delayed...Not exactly the info she needed in this moment. She loses it and takes off. Leaving a baffled Tim in her wake. The way he turns to her as she takes off. My heart. Wishing there was something he could do. But only being friends right now all he can is let her walk it off. *sigh*

I love Tim showing up for the unveiling. Because of course he does. Been the name of the game the entire season for him. To show up for her. Also hello yummy street clothes Tim. Mmm. Had to note this before we move on. It was necessary. heh. Tim being sassy with his opening line to her. Knowing maybe some banter might calm her nerves. Lucy doesn't have time for cute banter right now though lol Just cuts to the quick with Tim. Asking why they haven't posted them yet? Tim kicks into gear immediately. Showing up the way he has all year long for her.

By being a positive light that builds her up. Won't let any self doubt creep in. Or self deprecation. Letting her know that no matter what she's going to be ok. This doesn't define her in any way. That she is a bad ass regardless of what that paper says. What I love about this is he's there. I was talking about parallels to her detective exam earlier. This a hugely positive one. Tim is there this time. He is there no matter the outcome. Last time she was alone in her initial grief. Alone in finding out the result. Grey was there but wasn't exactly comforting.

She needed her person there. And he is this time. Even though she can't handle his blind optimism right now, you know she is happy he is there to dispense it. To be a pillar of strength while she freaks out. This is exactly what she was telling Randy earlier. Women just want to be heard and that's what Tim is doing. Isn't judging her one bit. Just letting her get it all out right now. Because he knows her. This is how she processes things. Grey appears and tells to breathe LOL

Grey posts the results and she can't do it. Can't check it. Clearly having some PTSD from 6x03. Can't say I blame her. Lucy having Tim check for her is amazing. Of course he’s gonna take that bullet for her. He’d do anything for this woman. Literally anything. If this is what she needs, then he’s going to give her exactly that. No questions asked. Lucy stops him then lets him go quickly after. It's adorable.

Our nervous little bean. Tim cracks me up with his expression. Shaking his head at her indecisiveness. You love her Timothy. Neurosis and all haha His little sigh before he turns around gave me a heart attack. But it was purposeful so she got the full effect as she walked up and saw the results. Loved him calling her by name. *heart clutch*

Tim telling her to go look. Lucy clutching her tattoo on her walk up. I love watching Tim in the background. Making eye contact with Grey before setting his sights back on his girl. Wanting to soak in her reaction. He is all but beaming she passed. Transparent Tim exuding unwavering pride throughout this whole scene. His sweet smiles kills me. He couldn't be prouder of her if he tried. Heart eyes to boot. Look at our girl. Not only did she pass but she was top of the class. Of course she was. I'm so damn proud of her myself. Another positive parallel to her Detective's exam. She killed it and then some.

She did this for her and no one else and it paid off. God did she need this win. Especially after the emotional beatdown she got in s6. Jesus. I feel like I can breathe again for her regarding her career. This is a HUGE game changer for her. Oh my lord. She needs a new #1 trophy now Tim hehe Lucy achieving everything Tim knew she was capable of in both s6 and now. Finally seeing that come to fruition is a beautiful thing. Tim breaking Lucy out of her revere with his reply. 'Typical A student.' What a puppy. So in love. At this point, he’s basically a walking love letter for her. Just look at that man.

I love her turning around and seeing the absolute love and pride splashed across his handsome face. Lucy saying 'I did it.' Tim having the best reply back. 'Of course you did it.' No one believes in Lucy Chen more than that man standing behind her. He has been a walking/talking billboard of that all year. Tim KNEW she aced it last week. They just had to wait a torturous week and some to get that result. Grey lets her know she can use it right away. Lucy checking in with Tim and he looks just as shocked as her there's an opening there.

It's the night shift LOL Well it’s better than nothing Lucy. ha Also it is MUCH better than her having to possibly transfer. Thank God we're not going down that route. That was my absolute first worry when Grey said she was open to use it ASAP. Luckily it's just the night shift. She cracks me up asking if it's possible to trade? haha Wade shutting her down immediately 'No.' That had me laughing so hard. It is a start if nothing else Sergeant Chen. Gah, I love writing that. Makes me so damn happy I could cry. I'm so happy with this path for her.

No one deserved this win more than her. Last season was SO hard to watch. It killed me. Chenford was a massive proponent of it. Don't get me wrong. But to watch Lucy struggle so much emotionally and professionally. Ugh. I hated it. She lost everything last year. Legit everything. Now she's on the road to regain it all back. This is such a massive triumph for her. Lucy could not be cuter turning around and holding her new rank patches. Tim can hardly contain how proud he is of her. He looks at her with such reverence I could squee to death. It's like she’s the most remarkable thing he’s ever seen. Because well. She is.

I would be red as hell if I had Tim looking at me like that. Phew Lord. Just look at his smile Fandom. Oh my word. Transparent Tim reporting for duty. Lucy couldn't be cuter holding up her patches to him when we pan back to her. It's here we watch Tim's face form into something more serious. It's all in his eyes if you ask me. Knowing what those patches now represent. Gah the LOADED LOOKS. They're so intense Lucy has to turn away from him with a giggle. What a lead up to the finale. We are in for quite the ride next week. I can feel it. I can't wait.

Speaking of the finale. That promo. Oh my. Celina asking Lucy if there is going to be more Tim around now? I can't wait for that scene. Love Tim saying he wants to be respectful because he’s the one who broke her heart. Gah, the growth everyone. I'm dead. Angela isn't wrong. The longer he waits the more it's going to break her heart. Now I've said this all season long for the most part. I do think it needs to be Lucy to be the one to go for it. Tim went for it in 5x08 when she was too scared to risk what they had. He was the one who took the leap of faith. I think now it's Tim who is scared to go for it. The way he hesitates in the promo to text her is screaming that.

As we can see above Tim is still respecting her boundaries to the nth degree here. That is of the utmost importance to him. Post-therapy Tim wants her agency to be respected and adhered to. So I think it has to be Lucy to break this cycle they're in. Tim seems pretty set in respecting Lucy where she is at. He’s spent the entire season laying his heart down for her for to see, showing her exactly what he wants and just how deeply he cares. Never pushing his luck because as he says in the promo. He was the one who broke her heart. She's a Sergeant now, there is literally nothing keeping them apart anymore.

I think the ball is firmly in her court IMO. Tim won’t make a move unless Lucy shows that same deep desire to be with him in this ep. I could be wrong. But I would prefer Lucy to be the one to do it personally. Now I won't be against Tim fighting to get her back in the finale instead. That is a road I am happy to go down as well. I have no need to be right. As fun as it it lol We all want reconciliation no matter the form is comes in. It'll be fun to see how the finale goes down. Which way happens. They're either going to be reconciled or it's going to be a cliffhanger alluding to it. Idk which. (hopefully the former) That's the fun part if you ask me in not knowing.

I know nothing of this finale. Won't even read the description. Spoiler free square right here. I don't like having expectations from my interpretation of spoilers or descriptions. Takes the fun out of it for me. Also it's much better to go in with zero expectations and see what happens. If you were wondering why I avoid spoilers that's it. But that is just me. Also get to see what my final bingo card looks and have to post that later on. I will enjoy that for sure. Ooof that scene with Harper’s mom. It explains her career choices tbh. To feel you weren't prepared for the world. So she immersed herself in a world where she would see how it really is and how to adapt to it. Probably a tad overkill with UC but it makes sense why she chose that honestly.

I enjoyed Lopez's mom and Nyla's being besties. That was hilariously adorable.

Field Tim always sexy if you ask me. I'll take that all damn day.

Tim being adorable af with Kike Hernandez. Turned into a little boy and it was precious.

When it comes to Curly's failings, I always see people bring up his obvious failure to protect Anya and him prioritising Jimmy, who was the rapist in that situation. Which is completely valid btw and we should rake him through the coals for that alone even more. But I also see too many people saying that Curly "didn't enable Jimmy" or playing softball for his actions. And I could maybe see where that comes from if that incident was the only thing we had to point to-- but that wasn't all he did, is it? Curly being indifferent or not taking Jimmy's mistreatment and belittlement of Anya seriously was hinted at so much earlier than that.

Namely, the very first time we play from Curly's point of view. Let's just skip the fact that Curly was putting everyone in danger by not taking his psych evals seriously and simply giving the same answers to pass them even tho he was shown literal minutes after this scene being clearly not-sane, and go straight to the point I actually wanna get into. Which is this:

These scenes in isolation wouldn't be that bad. From his pov, it's played off as comical and it is. Jimmy being a brony (not really lmao) and getting playfully dragged over it is funny. But unfortunately this is the first example out of many for Curly's complacency. Anya is complaining about Jimmy not taking his psych evals or her seriously, which is easy to believe considering how much he rags on her for "not being a good nurse" (she kept Curly alive on hopes and dreams how dare you). So he keeps making her do silly and inappropriate reports she clearly doesn't wanna do, which is kinda shitty (also borders on harassment). But rather than actually saying something about Jimmy's behaviour or even acknowledging how it sucks he says this:

Mate, that's not a good thing 💀 He's clearly aware that the problem is Jimmy's lack of respect for Anya specifically. He knows that if he, his friend and a man in power, were the one doing the evals Jimmy wouldn't try that disrespect. But it's Anya, a meek woman who ranks lower than him so he thinks he can get away with it (which he DOES), and Curly's shown as comfortable in knowing that. He doesn't chew Jimmy out for making Anya uncomfortable nor does he reassure her that he will do something about it. All he does is take it off her hands this once and helps Jimmy power through it to get a good diagnosis (even tho we know he's DEFINITELY not sane either). He doesn't even mention Anya's discomfort or confront him on his inappropriate behaviour, just teases Jimmy in good fun instead because he doesn't think of it as anything serious. It's subtle and pretty minor in comparison to everything else, but I think it's worth pointing out. Especially because this convo takes place after Jimmy had assaulted her, which makes this so much worse.

If you need any more evidence of Curly being an enabler you need not look further than Anya herself. And I'm not just talking about the way he failed her here-- I'm talking about Anya's own view of Curly and the way said view influences her actions.

Just look at her choice of wording. "What would you have done". This is in response to him saying that she could've come to him if she were feeling stressed, which she-- in his eyes-- didn't. The question itself implies that she had no faith in Curly to actually help despite his insistence that he would've, which I think is significant because it shows that she's very much aware of Curly's shortcomings when it comes to her situation AND it's one of the first (or the first time) she actually verbalised her lack of trust towards him or anyone directly. Prior to this scene she had told him about her rape and the rapist, presumably because she trusted him to handle it. And he dismissed her because the rapist was his best friend, and that evidently deeply scarred her. Enough so that she secretly took the gun and hid it someplace else and didn't even tell Curly were that was, because she knows that if Curly has access to it there's a so much greater chance Jimmy will have too, insinuated by the line "the least I can do is make sure he never gets it either". Speaking about the gun:

It sucks so bad that this perception of him isn't even inaccurate nor unjustified. That despite everything Jimmy had done to her and everything he could still do to her, he'd very likely still not allow her access to the gun for protection. Because that's exactly what he didn't do anyway. He didn't attempt to keep her safe from Jimmy, instead he just pretended that nothing was wrong and still let Jimmy's belittlement of her pass. He didn't give her the gun after the incident, because she wouldn't have hid the case if he had. Despite his desperate reassurance that he'd do anything, he did nothing but make it worse for her and she KNOWS that. It's so frustrating knowing he entrusted the axe to Swansea when he needed it but not the gun to Anya when she needed it too. Also this:

The fact that his knee-jerk reaction to her admitting that she's pregnant was "Who would you--" is so fucked, especially considering she's already told him what happened. "Who would you" what? Who would you fuck? Who would you have sex with? That choice of wording drives me up a wall-- SHE wouldn't and didn't do anything or anyone. That was JIMMY. The potential sentence implies that she had any choice or agency in her pregnancy. She didn't. And the fact that Curly had to ask "who" insinuates that he's been putting Jimmy's action out of sight and out of mind the whole time, choosing to not think about them or what happened to Anya at all. And considering he still made her do Jimmy's evaluations despite being able to do them himself and literally didn't even think of making sure she gets psych evals done too--especially AFTER getting sexually assaulted--that might actually be the case (I haven't seen anyone make a stink about that piece of info so I'm going to because what kinda colossal fuck up IS that??).

I vaguely had a post like this in mind but seeing so many people be like "well Anya did some wrong stuff too like leaving Curly alone with Jimmy but you don't get mad at HER for that so why is Curly not doing anything about Jimmy being alone with Anya so different??" actually makes me want to blow some people up. Jimmy's an abuser, sure, but Anya has no real reason to believe that he'd actually harm Curly. From her perspective, they were close, close enough that Curly would not only let Jimmy continuously disrespect her but also get away with assaulting her too. That, and she knows that Jimmy was closer to Curly than anyone and more likely to be civil around him than he ever was to her. She has barely any reasons to suspect Jimmy would harm Curly when they're alone. Curly, on the other hand, has every fucking reason on the planet to think Jimmy would harm her when they're alone. He knows he raped her (likely in her room at night too). He knows that he sexually harasses her. He knows that he doesn't respect her at all. And that was BEFORE the crash. Anya tried insisting on giving Curly his medicine, only for Jimmy to keep aggressively insisting that he'll take care of it despite her protests. Curly didn't try to keep them separate at all even though he was the Captain and had the power to do so. And this should go without saying, but leaving your rapist alone with his best friend that he was close to and enabled/protected him and leaving your friend alone with the woman he raped (and might have repeatedly assaulted given his free access to her) is NOT THE SAME and I'm going to start chucking some people down a waterfall because what the fuck is that argument 💀 Actually leave it to the fandom of the game where the rape of a woman is the catalyst for the events that unfold to use her trauma to defend the guy that enabled it in the first place. Bloody hell.

The reason why this whole Curly discourse pisses me off is because it-- from what I can see-- ONLY brings up his failures 1-0 days before the crash and the Dead Pixel scene (or all the discussion around other points are drowned out by those two). Those scenes, while important to talk about, are not the only things he's done, and focussing on those as the only things is a mistake that comes short of understanding the issue. When it comes to Curly the main defences I see for him are "he was trying not to escalate the situation" and "he was trying to keep things under control the best he can" and "he was waiting for the right time to help Anya", but those don't work when you look at the bigger picture of everything he's done.

He half-assed through his psych eval despite clearly not being sane (and KNOWING he's barely sane, he literally admits it to Jimmy's face). He still continued to task her with Jimmy's psych evals. He brushed over Jimmy's sexual harassment of her as a joke. He didn't think about making sure she got psych evals done herself after being raped. He gave Swansea the axe but didn't give Anya the gun despite it being for "unrest amongst the crew" (whatever the hell THAT means). He let her assault slip his mind that she had to remind him. He's literally a blond man. He took no action to hold Jimmy responsible for anything, and prioritised how his violation of Anya would affect him rather than her. He ignored her demands for him to get rid of Jimmy. He still allowed Jimmy free reign of the ship as co-pilot even after he was openly fantasising about killing everyone and had a major motive and the means to do just that. He was potentially thinking of making her miscarry to cover up what happened. He was so accustomed to her sucking up being disrespected and disturbed that he didn't even notice a difference in her behaviour until she hid the fucking gun. There's so much other shit he's done and hasn't done, and not talking about them or glossing over them makes it so easy for people to argue that he isn't actually an enabler or just minimise the severity of his neglect.

And while I'm already dragging Curly through the mud, I might as well just drag Swansea too. I've seen too many people being like "Anya should've told Swansea instead" and "Swansea was the one that actually took responsibility". Like, y'all realise he's not that much better than Curly, right? He already knew about what happened to Anya-- he admits it to Jimmy's face-- but he didn't do shit. He knew, but he still got completely shitfaced for months despite her earlier protestation to that (for very understandable reasons). He knew, but he still let Jimmy have the axe AND be alone with Anya while having it. He knew, but when Anya locked herself in the Medical and Daisuke and Jimmy asked for his help he didn't budge nor really showed any care. He knew, but the reason he finally decided to do something about Jimmy wasn't Anya, it was Daisuke. Her suffering and her eventual death weren't enough for him to take action either.

This game, on top of everything else, is a great depiction of rape culture. It doesn't just include the rapists, but the people (mostly men) that stay silent, do nothing, make excuses for and protect the perpetrator for whatever reason, and Swansea and Curly (Curly way more so than Swansea) are both active contributors to the environment that allowed for evil to flourish and continue unhindered until it destroyed them all. And while that arguably doesn't make them evil themselves or as bad as Jimmy, they are so much more a part of the bigger problem than the fandom likes to admit.

knowing you get drunk easily, you decided to not drink tonight. you can have fun while being sober.

"ugh, this is a mess," you grumble to ni-ki, "you're gonna help me clean this up right?" you tease, turning back to look at him. you blink in confusion.

he was just walking right behind you, and now he's gone? how long were you talking to yourself for?

you see him in the distance talking to a girl. you quickly approach him and wrap your arm around his, your grip tight.

it was almost midnight, and you guys were outside at your pool. your parents were pretty wealthy, so they could afford this big yard.

it's windy af so you have to squint to look up at ni-ki. he awkwardly nudges you away gently, going back to talking with that girl. they were acting like you werent even there.

you frown and reach for his arm again. he lets out an exasperated sigh. "not right now," he urges, briefly looking down at you and then contuing his convo.

you slowly look at the girl he was talking to, scanning her features. naoi rei.

she was older than you, and more athletic, and maybe even funnier. but your ego is never letting you believe that.

you have nothing against her, but why was she ignoring your prescense? maybe she's drunk. she notices your glare and smiles at you.

she isnt trying to be condescending, but thats the way you take it. your expression doesn't falter. infact, that just makes you angrier.

"i think i should leave you two alone," she says awkwardly, still smiling. "i'll see you inside! i think." she scurries away, going inside the house.

you turn to face ni-ki. knowing what's coming, he runs a hand along his hair and groans.

"what's your problem?" he asks, almost scowling at you.

"what's yours?" you retort. "i'm your girlfriend, but it seems like you have bigger priorities."

"i'm not allowed to discuss schoolwork with a classmate?" he crosses his arms.

"you can discuss schoolwork... at school."

"you mean mug every female that looks in my direction," he says passive-agressively.

"no i don't," you lie, not bring able to look at him.

"listen," he starts, taking a deep breath. "i don't wanna argue with you." he starts to walk away from you. you grab his arm and stand in front of him, blocking his away. which is stupid because he can easily just walk around you if he really wanted to leave.

"i don't either. just admit you were in the wrong," you mutter.

"why am i always in the wrong?" he asks, starting to get a little annoyed, now.

"i dunno, ask yourself that. maybe you should reflect--"

"this isn't gonna work," he suddenly interrupts. your eyes widen, backing away from him.

for a few minutes, you keep trying to pinch yourself to see if this is just a dream. you look back at the house, faint music playing.

aint no way he's trying to go into my house after dumping me, you think to yourself. you take a deep breath to calm yourself down, but its no use.

you storm into the house, turning the lights on and shutting off the speaker. everyone turns to look at you.

"everybody needs to get the FUCK out," you yell, and everyone kind of stands there for a minute.

"hello? y'all deaf?" you shout again. everyone quickly scrambles to gather their stuff and cram out the door. in the crowd, you notice ni-ki's lingering gaze on you. obviously, you ignore it.

finally, it seems like everyone's out the house. your home is now a mess, and you only have 3 days to clean the whole place by yourself before your mom gets back.

tears threatning to fall at your eyes, you plop onto the couch and curl up into a ball, tightly hugging a pillow.

"bad bitches don't cry," you try to encourage yourself, but it makes you wanna cry even more from how corny that was. you squeeze your eyes shut.

you can hear soft footsteps approaching you. "whats wrong with you?" a concerned voice asks.

you slowly open your eyes and look up at the person. it was your best friend, sunoo. behind him was winter, biting her lip nervously.

you abruptly burst into tears, and winter and sunoo rush over to hug you. no words needed to be said. your soft sniffles and occasional whimpers is all that could be heard.

last night was ROUGH. you didn't even wipe off yout makeup, so you woke up with mascara stains all over your cheeks. you have a pounding headache after crying so much the previous night.

your mood lightens a bit when you see winter and sunoo laying on either side of you. it seems like they slept with you to comfort you throughout the night. you don't remember much, just a bunch of sobbing.

"you finally up?" winter asks softly. you nod, sitting up. she sits up too.

"are you gonna tell us what happened?" she inquires, putting a hand on your shoulder.

"mhm, just waiting for sunoo to wake up," you mumble. "but long story short, riki broke up with me."

"what!?" winter shrieks, making sunoo jolt up. he rubs his eyes.

"what happened?" he asks groggily, slowly sitting up as well.

"y/n and riki broke up," winter says with a slight pout.

"seriously?" sunoo gasps. you can notice them both reaching in for another hug. you place your hands in front of them.

"crying all day isn't gonna accomplish anything," you admit. you were moreso trying to convince yourself rather than your friends. winter hums in agreement.

"we should get started on cleaning up," sunoo proposes, getting up and stretching.

"you guys don't have to," you say gratefully.

"you're tell me you were planning on doing this by yourself?" winter raises an eyebrow. you gently elbow her.

"i'm tryna be nice here," you whine, and she giggles. it's so fun to tease you.

soon enough, you all get washed up and start cleaning. while cleaning, you explain more in depth about what happened last night.

"has he texted you after last night?" sunoo asks as he cleans the windows.

"i don't know, i haven't checked my phone in a while," you say while wiping the countertops. you stop what you're doing and pull your phone out from your pocket, taking off 'do not disturb.'

yup, 12 missed calls from ni-ki. and a bunch of text messages. you even got one from rei. you bite your lip and without hesitation, you block him.

"rei texted me," you say, clearly avoiding the point.

"and as for riki..?" winter asks, pausing her vacuuming to approach you and look over your shoulder to see your phone. sunoo shortly joins in, too.

"i blocked him, so i'm not really sure," you shrug and stuff your phone back in your pocket.

"damn, you blocked him quick," sunoo says, and he can't help but laugh. you nod.

"what'd rei say?" winter chimes in. you unlock your phone and open your messages.

"at 12am yesterday-- or today technically-- she just sent a paragraph of her apologizing and saying she hopes she's not the reason we broke up." you say. sunoo and winter silently read the text message before sunoo clears his throat.

"how'd she know you guys broke up?" sunoo asks. that's a pretty good point, you think. "either word got around very quick, or ni-ki scurried to tell her as soon as y'all broke up."

"i fear it's the latter option," winter says nervously, biting on her finger.

"i dont wanna go to school tomorrow!" you announce, leaning against the counter. "me and riki sit together in like every single class!"

"don't you have a good relationship with riki?" winter aks sunoo. "maybe you can talk to him."

"i guess i could," sunoo says hesitantly, "but i don't wanna start conflict."

"you don't have to," you reassure, "i can just confront him myself."

winter grins, as if saying "you know damn well." you shoot her a nasty look.

"what? you don't think i can do it?" you ask.

"how about we just take the simpler route," sunoo suggests, "you get a fake boyfriend to make him jealous."

"oh yea, what was the other message rei sent you?" winter asks. you unlock your phone once more.

you cross your arms and turn to face him fully.

"you want me to work at 7-11 just so i can pull some guys?" you ask.

1. What's something you like about it?

Ahhhh so many things! I love how ideologically/morally opposed they are which makes their dynamic really interesting to watch and explore. Even as Young-il, he was challenging Gi-hun throughout the season. And the fact that they went through such similar things but turned out so differently. It's fun to see how their dynamic plays out differently in AUs. There are just so many cool things to do with their characters.

2. What's something you dislike about it?

Hmm this is hard. I don't think there's really anything about the ship itself I dislike. I think I dislike the discourse in the fandom surrounding the ship more than anything, but that isn't really unique to Inhun.

3. What's your headcanon about them?

Just one thing? hrm... I think In-ho likes to buy Gi-hun new clothes all the time, but he buys increasingly more revealing clothing with each shopping trip. Starts out with some nice fitting pants and shirts, then he starts getting thin shirts that can be easily seen through before moving onto mesh/netted shirts. Gi-hun is very embarrassed by this.

4. Which one fell in love first?

In-ho, definitely. He probably fell in love while keeping tabs on Gi-hun in the 4 years between games.

5. Which one confessed first?

I can see this going either way depending on the circumstances, but I'm gonna say Gi-hun. I think In-ho would be too in his own head and insecure to think Gi-hun would feel the same way as him especially after everything. So Gi-hun would realize In-ho isn't picking up on his feelings and have to be more blunt and just confess.

In-ho can't behave when they're out in public on their dinner dates. He'll bring up how good Gi-hun looked tied up in the back of his limo, bleeding and beaten, and the waiter overhears and gets freaked. They are slowly getting banned from every restaurant in the city because he can't stop talking about how hot Gi-hun was risking his life in the games, and everyone who hears the convos think they're a very kinky couple and get very uncomfortable waiting on them because In-ho will just not shut up for 5 minutes when other people are in ear shot.

9. What characters would support or hate their relationship?

I can't think of anyone who would hate their relationship really. A while ago I made a post with some thoughts on Jun-ho's relationship with In-ho's wife, and I mention Jun-ho would feel conflicted about In-ho and Gi-hun dating because he feels like In-ho is replacing his wife. He eventually accepts it and is happy for them.

I also think Ga-yeong would approve, and she and In-ho would get along really well.

10. If they could be drawn as any classical/iconic romance scene, what would it be?

A guide on how to regulate oversharing and balancing the conversation flow.

Each one of us has at least been in a situation where we accidentally ended up spilling more than we should. We do recognise the patterns but are unable to control ourselves. That's why your girl Ash-says is here to say a lot about it.

1) Find the why

What are you trying to achieve by sharing that piece of information? Drama? Attention? Get it off your chest? Is it important to inform them? Is it valuable to them?etc.

First tackle the why. Before you go in to reveal something ask yourself if it goes with the conversation flow and if yes is it really important to share it.

2) Are you a celebrity?

No like why? Who is interested in your life so much? Are those people paparazzi to broadcast your current events and bring you fame? No right. So shut up.

3) Who puts their dirty laundry on display?

When you overshare you are basically putting all your secrets, stuff that you do or did on blatant exposure. People are going to judge you. That's the very nature. So breathe and keep it inside.

4) Try to listen more

Train yourself into listening more than speaking especially in group settings or around people that you don't know much about. Gossip is real. You don't want to be the next tea time sensation.

5) Alternatives for talkative people:

Now I know you might be thinking can't say this can't say that then how the hell am I going to bond with people or what should I converse about?

I have developed a solution for you. It's Ash verified because I myself have been using it unknowingly for around 7 years of my life.

Never open your mouth for passing judgements, expressing your opinions on things that do not relate to you, your dirty laundry, secrets, family issues, relationship issues, your sex life, your goals and aspirations, your daily routine, your political standpoint,etc you get where I am going right?

Instead speak about the experiences you had while travelling somewhere, some goofy stuff that happened to you, your harmless vice for example: I am clumsy so I have a lot of incidents that occur due to it which can be told in a funny way. It adds a nuance to my perfectionist image plus helps people warm up to me. Movie shows, songs, etc here also there's a catch if you relate to a show/song/ piece of literature strongly never reveal it. The smart ones will understand the inner workings of your mind.

Never let them know your next move.

If nothing of this then goof around being nonsense. Do little hand gestures, funny faces if you are bored but never overshare.

6) Be mindful of interruption

Practise practise practise. Literally that's the only way. Try not to interrupt people while speaking. There's no roundabout way. It is what it is.

7) Be comfortable in silence

You have to be okay with the conversation dying down. Running your mouth dry will only result in one sided convo. It's more useless and harmful than the one mentioned before.

8) Know your limits

Fix in your brain what you can share and what you can't. Stick to it. Even over your dead body.

9) Be genuinely interested in people

Ask yourself are you asking questions to really get to know the other person or just looking for a chance to talk about yourself? Dethrone yourself first and then interact with others.

10) Put out stuff that you are over with

Always remember what you say can and will be used against you. Drill it and from next time when you speak be mindful that every word can stand against you. Do you have the capacity to handle the consequences? Yes then go ahead. No, then stop live streaming.

Bonus point: Be as private as possible on social media. People don't need to know what you are doing nowadays. Privacy is power. What they don't know they can't ruin.

Strategically put things out. I am not saying be inactive. In Rome you live like the Romans. Do it smartly.

It could be that one sees himself as a parent, and can only see his own children in place of Amane (Shidou), while the other sees himself as an outsider to the topic of "family", just going off of the more familiar "older guides, younger listens" idea that's a little more prevalent in Japan. Kazui seems to both say that her actions are her own, but that she was not responsible for the circumstances in which she ended up in. It shows how both of them have grown, especially in regards to the idea of accountability. Kazui is beginning to admit to himself (and maybe hinting to others) at his own feelings, while Amane here is quite notably putting emphasis on herself, as in, she admits to following her own feelings and not being a mere vessel for her "god". She is self-possessed, that last part of "I am my own" is "私は、私の", which may be translated as "Myself belongs to me". I like it.

sorry eummz but you fell harder as well. i don’t think this is too surprising; bakugo is far from the type to give his heart out. even in marriage, i don’t see his pro hero self being a lover boy or simp (but he’s definitely much more mature & loving). i feel like in your relationship with katsuki, you overcompensated a lot. i could see you as someone who might do more chasing than attracting in a relationship, always overthinking texts, waiting for him to call, starting convos, etc. i dont blame you, especially in katsuki’s case. when you’re dating him it’s like damn, if you don’t make the effort who will ? you become slightly obsessive (not at all in a creepy way), thinking about him nearly every time of day. i basically think you have a more anxious attachment style and katsuki triggers that a lot. i’d say if you ever meet a real life katsuki, you should work on that before you consider a relationship (don’t worry my love i’d never trigger you. we could always date instead 💘)

Q6– WHY/HOW DID YOU BREAK UP ?

dependency & clashing attachment styles. bakugo leans closer to an avoidant while you’re more anxious. i feel like you’re not exactly ‘all over him’ as a girlfriend. you know it would make him uncomfortable so you give him his fair share of space. but said space kills you. whenever you’re going through those periods were katsuki withdraws, you know pestering him to talk and communicate only worsens things so you let him pull away but boy does it drive you crazy. you can’t help but wonder what he’s doing, if he’s thinking about you, etc. you used to vent to mina, but she’s a man hater & the only advice she knows how to give is that you two should break up ☠️ eventually you had enough and decided to communicate (uh oh!). it ended pretty badly, with katsuki calling you a distraction; saying you were too needy & clingy and other stuff that made you feel absolutely terrible. you cried yourself to sleep each night & locked yourself up in your dorm. mina & kiri came to check up on you nearly everyday, while sero & kaminari frequently called to check on you. sero would often face time you while doing stupid shit so you could smile btw <3 either way you weren’t the same for weeks, and you honestly questioned ever finding love again.

Q16– HOW WAS YOUR FIRST KISS LIKE ?

as i said before this man is the original bad bitch 🤦‍♀️ atp he probably watches thewizardliz or sheera seven because why was he trying so hard to be the high value woman in the relationship 😭 this man did not let you touch, kiss, hold or hug him until a good ELEVEN MONTHS. it was exact too so you almost thought he planned it. anyway, this was how it began: sero was throwing a housewarming party (literally for his parents own house, WITHOUT their permission 🤦‍♀️) and ofc you were invited. somehow tape face got a hold of some alcohol & so they were passed around at the party. i say party but keep in mind it was just a small get together of the baku squad + you. anyway, you’d never drank alcohol before; you’d always been a goodie two shoes but sero pushed you to try some : “come on eumy gummy, try something new for once !” a part of you wanted to loosen up & fit in, so after initially refusing you caved. sero’s drinks were sweet as hell, they weren’t weird tasting like you’d heard most people complain about alcohol so you downed them like apple juice. katsuki called you out on your drinking, but after a pout of your lips & a stubborn whine he eventually let you do what you wanted. you kissed his cheek with wine soaked lips & continued to chug as mina & the boys hyped you up. they should not have hyped you up. five glasses in & now you were a stumbling, groaning mess, leaning on kiri for support & hardly able to stand.

katsuki decided enough was enough. you couldn’t walk, so he had to carry you on his back. it was nearly 3am, so he wasn’t too worried about getting caught sneaking back to the dorms. the entire way back you’re a babbling mess, squishing his cheeks with a clumsy grin on your face as you coughed over your own words every now & then. in the elevator, you suddenly began banging on his back : “put me down, katsuki ! i can walk myself !” he insisted you couldn’t, but like the stubborn girl you are you wouldn’t let him rest till he let you go. he guided you off his back & you stumbled against his chest immediately. with rolling eyes & a muttered “told you so,” he placed his palms on your hips & held you against his chest. the contact made you break into a silly grin & you roped your arms around his neck. katsuki raised a brow but you were too drunk to notice. gently & lazily you began to press sloppy kisses to his cheek & i wanna say bakugo pushed you away BUT HE DID NOT !! he simply sighed as you dragged your lips against his face, mouth sticky with strawberry chambourd & the scent of french liqueur. WARNING ! what happens next will shock you : bakugo puckered his lips, not moving an inch forward, but you’re quick to oblige : you press your wine drenched lips to his chapped ones & he pulls away immediately. it’s a sweet, sticky, impulsive peck at best, but it leaves you all giddy & giggling. the elevator dings & bakugo leads you out, your hand in his palm as he tugs you forward without glancing back <3

Was feeling silly over Sinatra and I wanted to break out one of my Dean and Jack metas by itself. It's from this monstrosity, but I love it so. I'm pulling it out to ponder over today.

Dean’s answer to the Harper-coded ideal of perfection:

So, last we left off, Harper was writing dreamily about how she’s gonna find Jack and everything’s gonna be PERFECT.

Which is why it’s so beautiful to me that Dean, who has struggled with some of the same abandonment trauma and overall clinging to his first familial loves out of desperation, is the one to narratively provide a rebuttal to that!

Harper sighs dreamily and picks up her coffee mug of domesticity:

And the scene cuts to Jack, as if he’s right there across from her. (He’s sitting in her empty spaces, hundreds of miles away.)

And Jack is so satisfied. The coffee didn’t taste good to him at the very beginning of the episode. He “couldn’t get it how he liked it.”

Now, it’s very satisfying.

Harper and Jack are both satisfied is different ways. Harper, because she left her past behind, and Jack because he’s proved himself as a capable hunter worthy of being brought into the family business. It’s all part of growing up.

They are still thinking about each other and what they learned in meeting each other. Jack is specifically asking Dean about love:

JACK: And that’s, love? DEAN: Eh, actually love can get crazier than that. And it might get crazier with Harper still out there. But, uh, you did good, kid.

In Jack’s family kitchen, we find Dean sitting in the narrative “Harper position,” fielding Jack’s questions about love and providing important guidance.

But Harper’s “mentor” space is sadly empty. She has no one to guide her. Only a stack of books. She gets her ideas about love…from books.

As for Jack, Jack leans a little too far into being Righteous here. He says to Dean: “I was right! I should be going on more hunts!”

This reminds us a little bit of Claire Novak, in 11x12 Don’t You Forget About Me:

But Dean?

Dean gently redirects the conversation. Dean doesn’t talk about perfection. It’s not about being right. Or righteous, for that matter.

DEAN: Okay, alright. It’s not about being right. Kay? You’re gonna make mistakes, hell, I make them all the time. But it’s how you handle yourself once you’ve made those mistakes and you’ve learned from them.

Dean’s entire season 8 arc was about accepting the imperfect family: “love, and love.” This is echoed again, just a few episodes later, with AU Michael taunting Dean specifically about Cas’s mistakes:

AU MICHAEL: …he “gripped you tight and raised you from Perdition.” Or whatever. But since then, what has he done? Only made mistakes, one after the other.

AU Michael doesn’t grasp the complexity of love and all its imperfections. Real, lasting love allows for mistakes and growth.

Anyway.

Mistakes! (And accepting them! It's an amazing theme!)

And that lands for Jack. He considers the words, assessing, and like how he was with Harper, he gets a Very Good Emotional Read on Dean.

(Unlike Sam, a “brain” character, Jack’s very much a heart character. He’s GOOD at this aspect of humanity. He connects almost effortlessly, even when he’s awkward.)

And especially because he and Dean (and Mary) are built similarly in their emotional cores and neuroses, he figures out exactly what Dean needs to hear, echoing their earlier convo about Michael—

i’m like 99% sure you can ask for advice here so here goes

so, basically i have a queerplatonic/platonic crush on my band president. AND I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT KNOW HOW I DEAL WITH IT. so, for some context we started talking last year because i just joined the school and the bad and we started talking around mid-year and we weren’t that close orginally but there was this night we had a long, deep convo and after that we started to get really close. after two months, i started to have strong feelings for her (but not romantic) and i think it’s a platonic or queerplatonic crush and i didn’t really go to school and band that often for a while because of autoimmune disease and when i was there i tried not to make it seem like i’m too excited to see her which kinda makes me worried that she thinks i’m iggoring her but we text a lot so. anyway, even though we usually don’t interact irl that much [:(] we still do sometimes, and whenever my score has a rest i always look at her. especially when she has a solo. one time we went to experience this colleg band thing and i asked for a hug and she accepted❤️ i wanna hug her again. i do kinda wanna get touchy with her but not TOO MUCH, y’know? besides, i’m shy/nervous around her and anyway, she’s alloromantic. but anyway, today during our cca fair we kind of kept on kinda locking eyes (accidentally?? idk. but i know i was doing it on purpose) and it made my aromantic heart flutter

anyways so i don’t know what to do should i say i have a platonic/qpr crush on her? though i can’t tell which one it is…..

uhhhhh so, as a nonpartnering sort, I think I'm gonna give some general advice, and leave the specifics to the crowd.

broadly: do you know her views on queer stuff? could you casually bring up "oh, I was reading a queer story --", or if you know she's queer-friendly, "oh, out of curiosity, how many of the flags do you know?" type of stuff? Just, get a general vibe of her views of 1) queer people, 2) what she does and doesn't know or think she knows, and 3) if she knows about aromanticism, what she thinks it is and how she feels about aro folks.

I like to start there personally, because it gives you a lot better of a place to start a conversation about your own identity if you have a common ground on what feelings and definitions are being used. It's really easy, I find, for someone to confidently state they know what something is / what you mean, and be totally off base to the point that you're having totally separate conversations and don't even know it.

To use an example: in high school I had a friend who... lovingly, he grew up rich and sheltered, and probably only was not diagnosed as autistic because he was low support needs. His social skills were, lovingly again, as well informed as he could make them, but executed like a train wreck that most everyone attributed to "boy genius is a little weird". (He was, simultaneously, the heart throb of our school, and a lot of guys realized some queerness because of him, but that's a whole other funny story)

He was super nice about me coming out as trans, but clearly in a "he's confused but got the spirit" way. No idea what I meant, but he knew it meant a lot to me. A few weeks after that, he quietly admitted, "I thought it was about like, gender roles like cooking and cleaning and stuff, and I'm starting to get the impression I might not be right about that."

So, I now recommend everyone start with "let's get on the same page about what things mean" before having any big identity chats lol. It often leads to a quiet revelation on their side that you're guiding it to "Hi, I am that identity", but also puts it in a place where they're free to ask questions, and in my experience, treat it a little more thoughtfully and seriously than if it were a fly-by "heyyyyy i am aro and i am scared of this conversation, bye!" that can happen with enough anxiety. totally (/sarcasm) not speaking from experience.

hope that helps? from there, just... keep up communicating, leveling the knowledge field, and if a relationship is what you want, do the work. talk about what that means for you. ask what it means to her. talk about if that's compatible, and how conflicts might be navigated. if that goes well, congrats! if not, congrats! you've probably avoided the messier options, even if it isn't what you'd like.

Can you please explain these scenes? When I first read the bonus chapter, i didnt look too much into it because I was enjoying the scene of elain and azriel. that wasnt until i joined this fandom and realized how hated they are.

Look, now with the convo with gwyn. it was cute little thing, i didnt think much of it and thought it was whatever (off topic. im just so used to friendships in the boys of tommen series that i didnt think of it as romantic 😭 like joey and lizzie idk) it really shocked me to find out they were one of the most popular ships. but please explain!

To the first, antis try to make like Azriel's shadows disappearing around Elain is a bad thing, that the shadows are a part of him and shouldn't disappear and this means they don't like Elain ergo Elriel incompatible.

But we've seen in the story where Azriel's shadows when not in a standard normal state do disappear when he is more relaxed and around people he trusts.

The shadows don't hate Elain. They lit up across the room at Elain's laughter. They helped Azriel present the necklace to Elain on solstice, when Nesta and Elain argued, the shadows are described as ready to strike at the thought of someone hurting Elain.

To the second. People taking things out of context or twisting it to be bad. Stating that Azriel feels entitled and refers to Elain as "the third". But in the sentence he is talking to about everyone that way: two brothers, two sisters...the third. Not just Elain. Antis just ignore the sentence structure Azriel was using to refer to everyone and hone in on "the third".

This also makes antis think that Azriel feels entitled to Elain and just wants a mate but they have it backwards imo. Azriel isn't questioning his religion, the cauldron, the mother, a mate bond with another male just because he wants a mate and figures "the third" of the Archeron brood should be his like they are collecting Pokemon.

He's asking these questions because of Elain herself. Remember when the brothers first met the sisters. They both stilled. Remember that Azriel has always been drawn and willing to go out of his way to help and be around Elain, remember that Azriel was willing to die to save Elain from Hybern's camp, remember that Azriel knew what was wrong with Elain before a "supposed mate", remember Azriel can smell the mating bond between Azriel and Lucien when he shouldn't be able to.

Remember most of this happened before anyone knew that Nessian were mates or even together. Azriel is questioning the cauldron not only because he is displaying mate like behavior when Elain already had a supposed mate, that she doesn't like or want but because he wants Elain so badly, he wants her to be his mate. He wants Elain to be his mate not because she's the third Archeron sister but because she's Elain.

And to be fair, with mate bonds already being rare, what are the chances that two of the Archeron sisters are mated to two of the most powerful Illyrians ever but the third is not, especially when he really really really wants her to be. I think it's a fair question to ask and is also something SJM is having us ponder...along with the 6 sided star representing balance.

As for the whole scene with Gwyn, others have broken this down more succinctly but basically: Azriel's powers react to Gwyn much like Nesta's did, I believe Gwyn was put in there to crumb that she has more powers that we don't know about (Lightsinger Theory). Spark has been disproven to mean mates as it has been used between non-mated people, people who aren't even couples, and hasn't been used in every mate bond therefore it's a false equivalency.

And my big take away is...if you took the scene where Azriel and Gwyn actually spoke to each other and replaced Azriel or Gwyn with anyone....it's very very platonic. Antis read too much into it because they don't have many scenes for their ship but really, if you inserted Emerie and Azriel, Feyre and Cassian, Mor and Rhysand you would see that it's just a normal conversation that's been twisted and overblown.

And that's basically what happens anytime there's a scene between Elriel or with Gwyn. Antis twist the narrative and make Elriel scenes bad and ignore canon while with Gwyn, any interaction between the two means they are ready for a full blown romance and are so flirty and into each other when...they just aren't.

So there you go, hope that helped clear some things up for you.
