Is there maybe a different term for the kind of crochet amigurumi I do? Like generally amigurumi are the chibi, round, simplified shaped yarn plushies. And mine are just whatever shapes the Pokemon are so there's more different kinds of shapes than round and ball.
I haven't found as many artists doing stuff like mine which kinda bums me out because I want to see other works like mine that I didn't have to make in the first place.

hi! love your art :) i just wanted to ask if you have any resources you’d recommend for WWI uniform/gear references for art purposes? i’ve been struggling to find good refs (especially for officers/anything beyond just the basic infantry uniforms) so i thought i’d ask what you tend to use! thanks & have a great day!
hello hey hi!!! ty for the message i love talking about uniforms and spend way too many hours of the day looking for reference of them
so i talked a bit about this before in this post! i stand by a lot of what was said there aka pinterest, google searching/scouring, and that book i linked........ these are all good for officers too! looking for officer ref is often very similar to infantry stuff, tho there may just be less of it depending on what specifically you're looking for. if you are looking for very specific references and want to get insane about it i can talk about that too.... tho i would like to say i dont have like one specific website to link bc i use so many different ones only like once or twice
if you're willing to spend money i'd recommend looking for books on the subject- there is always one strange book from like 1970 about the helmets of ww1 on ebay or something. the nice thing about that is they will typically name the different parts of a uniform, which allows you to google that specific thing to get a closer look. learning about the makeup of a uniform/everything's specific use helps when its time to draw them. ofc this isnt a super sustainable option but investing in a good encyclopedia once has saved me so much time. that guide to ww1 has been well loved
if youre not looking to spend money there are still a lot of options. stuff i like in no particular order:
reenactment pictures- action shots, higher quality pictures than something from 1918. you can find whole galleries of people's reenactment battles (?? is that what theyre called??) if you do a little clicking around.
stock photo websites- be really careful here bc you dont want to get into trouble with usage rights. i only rly use these if im desperate and then very sparingly and piecemeal bc i dont want to get in trouble lol
websites where they sell reproduction/reenactment uniforms- here is an example. reproduction stuff is great bc u can usually find every little bit of the uniform being sold somewhere by someone. ebay has also been surprisingly helpful.
& the thing i would like to stress the most is that i rly dig for references. i literally have 21 tabs open with different searches for super specific things on my phone at this very moment. i use google image search extensively and scroll through literally so many jpegs, pngs, pdfs, webps, etc etc etc. the unfortunate truth is that the more specific you get the harder it is to find stuff. i recently drew a ussr female fighter pilot and had to get ref for her uniform from about 5 different sources (and that was one drawing!!!!!) sometimes i find a reference for the exact thing i need on a website that has nothing else of use to me. the best advice i have here is just keep scouring and clicking and you will eventually find something. i wish this was more helpful but once you know what you are looking for you can search for that thing specifically and that's a big help
this did not need to be so long but if theres one thing about me i will go on and on and on given the chance. im insane can you tell

I have in my heart all these life stories from lovers of mine, and well, how in one's mind heart or soul does one honor and do justice to these stories and memories of/from persons with whom one has been intimate and tender -- inasmuch as such "relationships" can be intimate and tender (I think they can). Like what do I do with this information, information before which I feel helpless and yet want to make part of myself. There's a kind of weird ineffable regret and burden and gift all bundled together in knowing ppl, their stories, so deeply and yet so incompletely
(Ive had about three lovers w whom I feel this way, but one among them in particular and far more than the rest. I think Im still in love with him maybe in some small part (what does that even mean?) though my weeks-long lovesickness aching and ailments have subsided and whatever rship this was has petered out. Perhaps one day I'll have a lover who becomes a boyfriend, but I suspect not sometime soon)

i think being a vampire would be fun however it wouldn't solve all of my problems. for example can vampires take medications or are we just screwed when it comes to mental health disorders? fox proposed you have to drink from someone who takes the medication you need so like. there must be a drug blood market out there. that's my thought anyway.

I’m doing this one for the third life desert duo girlies (myself)
Thinking about the third life finale and how it shaped desert duo’s relationship going forward. How Grian felt betrayed when Scar left the final three battle up to chance with the friendship paper. How it was a strategically smart move on Scar’s part but Grian didn’t understand and felt like he had been stabbed in the back. If Scar had just teamed with Grian and killed Bdubs, he would then be left with fighting a yellow life, which he literally couldn’t win. He wanted to make things fair, I think. Up to chance. He couldn’t outright betray Grian but also couldn’t just team with him. But Grian doesn’t see that.
And he’s hurt when he comes back and Bdubs dies and it’s just him and Scar left. You’d think he’d take the opportunity and just kill Scar right there. I think maybe he wanted to, but Scar offered his life and Grian no longer trusts him. Maybe he was thinking Scar was tricking him. It was a scam. The fresh betrayal is still sticking in his mind. So he refused, and made it a fair fight, and Scar lost (perhaps on purpose).
Afterwards, Grian has nothing, and still feels betrayed. He falls to his death with a lot of conflicting emotions running about in his head, I think. I don’t think he ever quite gets over the perceived betrayal. I think he holds onto it and it follows him through the rest of the life series. Maybe.
I mean, the rest of the series is just full of Grian betraying Scar right back. Before Scar gets the chance. In last life, Grian tricks Scar into handing over a life, in double life, Grian and BigB are “secret soulmates”, in limited life, Grian literally calls his deliverance of the killing blow “the ultimate betrayal”. Come on.
I think Grian hasn’t gotten over third life. He still feels like Scar will turn on him at any moment (and Scar, in turn, has begun to do so, feeding into it) and any ally-ship they form is only doomed to end in betrayal. Because if his devotion in third life meant nothing to Scar (the way Grian sees it) even though Grian was ready to give his life... there’s nothing more he could do to make their alliance real. So he might as well make it untrustworthy and painful and full of betrayal. You can’t get hurt if you don’t get attached.

Did Diavolo ever have a motive for founding Passione? I don't recall it ever being explained why he even wanted to start a mafia organisation in the first place. I get that there's money and power and whatever involved which would be sufficient motives for a lot of villains, but I don't remember it ever confirming anything for Diavolo himself. But maybe I'm forgetting something?
Yeah, as far as I can remember, "power" was pretty much all that was given to us as reasoning why Diavolo created Passione. I think it makes some sense for him to crave power so much because he came from a small village and you could say that he wanted to become more important and influential in some way, but nothing's really said explicitly.
We can also assume that Diavolo is greedy because he permits selling drugs to kids and underpays his workers, but that aspect of his character really wasn't explored much either. (I've always found it kind of interesting that a lot of Diavolo's actions could easily be a message about how greed is bad, but Diavolo being obviously money-hungry isn't actually talked about at all. For all we know, Diavolo could be selling drugs to kids either because he wants more money or he just really despises kids.)
I'm going to take an educated guess knowing the way Araki writes and say that most of Diavolo's character was written along the way, so Diavolo's foundations just started as a vague crime boss character as the idea first and the rest got built on as the story went along. VA didn't really bother explaining why Diavolo wanted to become the Boss because it probably felt like it didn't need to- the Boss just needed an identity, so... some shirtless punk dude named "Devil" it is.

I think that one thing people fail to understand is that unsolicited literary criticism coming from an online stranger who is reading with no knowledge of what the authors intended goal is, is not going to be received the same as say: the authors beta reader or friends who know what the authors intended goal and has the sufficient knowledge and input to help the author reach that desired outcome.
"But I'm only trying to be helpful" How do I know you have the knowledge and literary skill for you to be able to actaully do that when we don't know each other and you are essentially a stranger to me? Are you applying this criticism based out of personal biased experience and desire to see the story or characterization be driven in another direction or tweaked, or do you know the author's intentions for the character? If the story is incomplete, are you basing your criticism of a character on the incomplete narration with only partial information available of them or are you building up a report until the story's completion? Did the author provide you with the information needed to make a fully informed criticism?
Have you discussed with the author what their plans are or are you assuming them based off the narration, especially if the narration is proven or implied to be unreliable or missing key points of the plot? Are you unbiased enough to help them reach their desired outcome for the characters and story regardless of your personal feelings towards the characters/antagonists and setting? Can you handle being told your specific input isn't wanted because you're a reader and/or have no written anything relating to their genre or topic? Do you understand and respect that the author's personal experiences might influence their writing and make it different than how you would have done it personally? Do you understand if an author only wants input from a specific demographic relating to their story?
If it's for fanfiction or other hobby media, are you holding a free hobby to a professional standard? Are you trying to give criticism because you feel like the author has produced 'subpar job performance' of their fic? Are you viewing their work as a personal intimate outlet or something that must conform with mass media? Are you applying rules and guidelines when the fic is shared for simple sharing sake? Is your criticism worded appropriately and focused on the parts where the author has requested input on rather than a general dismissal and or disapproval?
Have you put yourself in a place where you assumed you have the input needed for the story to evolve better, or have you asked what the author needs and what they're having trouble with? Can you handle having your criticism rejected if the author decides their story doesn't need the change and not take it as a personal offense against your character? Are you crossing that boundary because you think you are doing the author a favor? Are you trying to be helpful, or do you just want to be?
I think sometimes when people hear authors go 'please don't give me unsolicited writing advice or criticism' they automatically chalk it up to 'this author doesn't want ANY constructive feedback on their stuff at all' and not "i already have trusted individuals who will help me with my writing goals and- hey i don't know you like that, please stop acting so overly familiar with me'

lived my whole life in guilt bc i thought i was responsible for people's feelings. newly realizing that other people are responsible for their feelings and reactions, even if they make it seem like i'm the problem. a lot of the time it really has to do w them and their own emotional regulation. i can't keep thinking i'm not allowed to have space bc of other people's insecurities. like i literally refuse to dim myself. other people are responsible for their feelings just as i'm responsible for mine.
