Heart to Heart pt.1

Hi!! This is a short fic i made inspired by @citricacidprince 's take on the Relativity Falls au. I love their version so much!! This was originally a single fic but i thought it would be better to cut it in half and post both parts separately. The second part is about Stan and Ford and I'll post it in a few days

Summary: On the aftermath of the portal opening for the last time, both sets of twins have some conversations

"look at us, when did we get so old?"

"...that haircut makes you look like mom."

Mabel recoils in mock disgust. "Eesh! Don't say that!" She protests as she hits him lightly on the shoulder. It's a half-lie and he knows it. Even with the grey jacket and short hair, every little accessory on his sister is so undeniably Mabel that it makes something in his chest ache a little. He's seen countless colorful dimensions, but none of them are as colorful as his twin's fashion sense.

They're not the only thing old here, Mason notes. The mirror looks aged. Hell, the entire house looks aged. He briefly wonders how many things have changed just inside these walls. If he were to walk around the halls, would it be the same layout he asked to built more than 30 years ago?-

Mason inhales sharply. The kids should be sleep by now. They need to address the elephant in the room.

"Mabel listen. You can keep pretending to be me until the end of the summer. I know you have a business here and all. We'll... Figure out what to do once the boys are back home."

Mabel nods, but as soon as she looks him in the eyes the world seems to stop for a moment, as if holding its breath. Her eyes start to get watery. Before he knows it, his twin is pulling him into a hug.

"I'm so glad you're okay.."

Mason freezes, the reality of it all setting in. He's back.

His arms wrap around Mabel in slow motion, as if by pure muscle memory. By the time his chin meets her shoulder, he realizes he's crying too.

The words slip past his lips before he knows it. "I'm glad you're okay too."

"I'm sorry."

"Me too."

"It was an accident, i swear-"

"I know."

I love you

I love you too

(i started to think i would never see you again)

"I missed you Dipper..."

He sniffs, "Mabel- oh hell it's been so long since you've called me that."

They both let out a breathy, bittersweet laugh at that.

"I didn't mean to wrap you up in all of this Mabel, but i just- i-"

"You needed help. It's fine, really."

Was this about a postcard and a 20 hour drive? Was this about 30 years lost in between the mystery of dimensional travel and identity theft? Did either of them know?

They let go, reluctantly, because it's late and Mason can't remember the last time he's slept on a real bed. Mabel forgot completely about preparing the guest room so he gets to watch her flip over the house in search of fresh blankets. Even once the guest room is ready, they stay at the doorframe just a little longer.

"I got you back." Mabel whispers hesitantly, as if checking if he's is still real.

Dipper smiles "yeah, you did."

Upstairs, the door to the attic that had been just slightly open during the heartwarming conversation closes fully. Eavesdropping is easier through an open door, after all.

I kinda want amnesiac!Stanley to be all "YOU!? YOU DID THIS TO ME!?" when he finds out Ford took his memories away. I know this isn't how'd he'd react ......but ......I kinda wanna see Ford suffer a little with how much of a whiny little prick he has been in ur relativity falls au.

I can see why you’d fall down that path of logic, but I don’t think Relativity Stanley would get explosively angry at Ford after the mind wipe.

In his mind wiped state Stanley doesn’t even remember who Ford is. Even when Ford is crying and apologizing for erasing his mind, Stan doesn’t feel mad. After all, how can you be mad over something you don’t even remember having in the first place?

All Stanley can see is that he’s surrounded by people are extremely upset that something really bad happened to him. And if anything, that’s just telling him that he’s apparently surrounded by people who really love and care about him, even if he doesn’t know who they are.

Even after his memories start flowing back Stan wouldn’t be mad at Ford. After all, this isn’t like the OG show where Stan HAD to take Ford’s place because the metal plate in his head made him immune to the memory gun. Relativity Ford very easily could’ve just had his mind erased, in fact it would’ve been easier since the two wouldn’t have had to switch clothes.

But Stanley would’ve never let that happen. No matter how much the two fight or get on each other’s nerves, they couldn’t hate the other. Stanley very easily took Stanford’s place when it came to erasing his mind because he’s always been the one to protect his weaker twin when times get tough. His stupidly smart brother who was going to do great things when he’s older. This time wasn’t any different. He didn’t even hesitate to come up with the plan to con Bill into his mind and erase him for good, because he would’ve been saving Stanford.

If anything Stan would probably like to tease Ford about what happened, make it a joke they can laugh off, but he would quickly stop when he realizes that Ford is never going to find what happened funny. He’s a freshly 13 year old kid who let himself get manipulated and kicked around into pushing away Stanley. Ford never going to forget or forgive himself for what happened for the rest the rest of his life, even when Stan tries to tell him that he doesn’t hold anything that happened against him.

So I really don’t think Stanley would ever try to hold what happened over Stanford’s head. For one, he’s not mad about since it was his choice in the end, and secondly… Ford is already beating himself up about it. Why add onto it?

I'm surprised Filbrick waited until Ford left for college in September to kick Stan out of the house. The way that man is, I expected him to kick Stan out after his 18th birthday or when he graduated from high school.

this is not to justify what filbrick did at all, just a look at things from his perspective. i do think that to him, in some strange way, this was an act of care. after ford left the house, stan wasn’t doing so great. he was of course very happy for and proud of ford, but he still couldn’t help feeling down about the whole thing. they’d always been a duo, and even if he logically knew that ford wasn’t leaving him behind and would be back soon, it was still a massive change. it felt as though a part of him was missing.

filbrick thought it was unbecoming of a pines man to be “moping”, especially considering that stan had recently become an adult. he thought stan would move on, find a job, make himself useful. i’ve been saying “kicked out” to explain what happened to stan, but just to be clear - in this AU it was much less dramatic than in canon. stan still wasn’t given much of a choice, rather informed that it was happening whether he liked it or not, but at least he wasn’t literally thrown to the curb. to filbrick, this was a way of teaching stan “what the real world is like”. he wasn’t a kid anymore, it was high time to stop depending on his parents and make something of himself. while caryn also wanted stan to stop looking so dejected (so unlike himself), she did not think this was a good idea at all. she thought he needed some support, filbrick thought “rewarding” him for being fragile would make things worse

i hope this made sense and sorry for rambling !!

relativity falls is SO cool. as someone who wasn't particularly in the fandom sphere when gravity falls was big, i missed out on a lot of the cool hcs and aus but that just means i can experience them NOW!!!

My versions of Relativity Scalene & Euclid :]

For my version of Relativity Falls, I really liked the ideas that people put out about scalene and Euclid, so I sort of took that concept and ran with it. Here are some Thoughts I had, if u wanna use em for ur own rf versions then go wild!!! Just tell me that you’re using them because I love to see other people’s interpretations of this au :)

I really liked the idea that someone else had of them sort of being physically “together” in a sense (this, where they are back-to-back(made by @fungalscrungle)). the idea of them being so codependent they actually sort of became “one” was really interesting, but I messed with it a but more and ended up with them both shaped in a way that they can “snap” together like magnets. They are actually two separate entities, but they are joined at the hip in the most literal sense to the point that they are constantly at each other’s side.

They both have little pieces of one another, which I decided were the Euclidean version of wedding rings. Idk it seemed fitting for Bill’s parents to “carry a piece of the other wherever they go” but literal. He’d probably think it’s romantic to have a piece of your partner’s body at all times, and… these are his parents.

Scalene is the one on the left, she’s the “mother”, and Euclid is the one on the right, he’s the “father”. Considering their dimension has 14 billion different genders, I like to think that they decided to emulate the 1950’s “nuclear family” stereotype to seem “friendlier” to humans

Actually their whole vibe really revolves around that stereotype. They really REALLY give off 1950’s nuclear family suburban white couple vibes in the way they talk, like “hey honey! How about we mentally torture this human today?” “I thought you’d never ask, pumpkin!” Because those always seem threatening to me. It’s the sanitization, the perfection, the blank smiles that show just a bit too much teeth. The “perfection” to the point of inhumanity, you know?

And that sort is is the opposite of what gravity falls embodies, isn’t it? Like being ur authentic weird self vs. being a perfect version of you that hides anything different

Euclid is more methodic and calm, meanwhile Scalene is sweet, but it’s a cover for a lot of the same manic instability that bill had, LIKE THE 50’S HOUSEWIFE STEREOTYPE.

Their dynamic can essentially be summed up as “She kills ppl, he hides the bodies.” True love💖

When they possess someone, maybe since there’s two of them doing it at the same time, the person’s brain starts to overheat or get damaged, since there’s not enough space for them.

In relation to Dipper, I absolutely ADORE the idea that @amissamidstthemist had (here). LIKE YES!!!! They WOULD have a sort of “parental bond” with Dipper! That is SO PEAK!

They would like baby him and praise him and Euclid would ruffle his hair and Scalene would call him affectionate names.

Not only do they tap into his loneliness when it comes to that, but they also tap into his paranoia, make him believe everybody else is out to get him. He can only rely on them. “TRUST NO ONE!” (This actually is them just making a trait dipper already has worse, but one day I think i’ll touch on that)

For their backstory, I don’t know if anyone else has thought of this(someone probably has tbh) but for me they probably tried to see the stars for their son and because of that destroyed their dimension and their son with it(ow.)

BECAUSE OF THIS, they actually begin to get attached to Dipper, because he reminds them of their son, and constantly compare him to their son.

They treat Dipper a bit like the Other Mother treated Coraline.
