Ravi leaves and Eddie keeps looking at Buck like that, grateful to have Buck by his side and still devastated because he should have been there. It’s a fact. Something he can’t change. He won’t ever get over it. But Buck still looks at him so fondly, as if he deserved all the love in the world. And when one second passes and another second passes, and Buck is still gently, almost imperceptibly smiling at him, he can’t help but putting that into words.

“Stop looking at me like that.”

“Like what?” Buck frowns, the smile completely fades away.

“Like it’s… like it’s not my fault, like I’m not right—”

“It’s not your fault. Bobby would still be—” Buck pauses for a beat, can’t bring himself to say the word dead. “If it’s your fault, then it’s my fault.”

He challenges Eddie, because they’ve discussed this already. Buck’s I feel so guilty and Eddie’s this is not on you.

Eddie sighs and shakes his head. “It’s my fault that I wasn’t here, it’s my fault that I have to leave again and—” Eddie gulps. “I wasn’t there, Buck.” His voice is so hushed, full of pain and guilt. He’s begging Buck to agree with him.

“And I’m so fucking glad you weren’t,” instead Buck tells him, tone firm and stern. He’s so damn sincere and Eddie can see how much it’s hurting him. “Eddie,” Buck is so close now, he’s standing so impossibly close to Eddie. “If you— if something had happened to you in that lab…”

Buck looks everywhere except at Eddie for a second, before locking eyes again. “I would have died with you.”

“No, Buck. What—”

“I wouldn’t survive, Eddie.”

And isn’t that something? Knowing that even while facing the death of a parental figure, Eddie’s death is still the thing that would destroy Buck.

The next thing Buck registers is the feeling of Eddie’s stubble rubbing around his lips, on his cheeks, all over his face, Eddie’s hands on his neck, their tongues talking to each other and telling everything they need.

So the Crunchyroll newsroom isn't a "room" so much as a Slack channel. We have news writers all over the US, in Australia, and in Japan. This means we have something akin to 'round-the-clock coverage, but it also means that our schedules respective to each other are skewed. For example, when the East Coast contingent is starting their day, the Japan contingent is shutting down for the evening.

Because of that, we started experimenting with greetings that could apply when Party A was coming in for the morning and Party B was leaving for the night. One person came up with "konbarning": a combination of "good morning" and "konban wa" ("good evening" in Japanese). It stuck.

Over the following months, "konbarning" got shortened to "barning" and other permutations. Now, a year or some later, this is how we announce our arrival:
