OK HI IM BACK. I watched dps for the first time since I was literally 12 and you told me to come back and tell you how it was so here I am. I certainly got more out of it than before - mostly that every adult other than mr keating is absolutely insufferable - and the whole vibes and scenes and general first-glances are so picturesque and give me quite romantic era vibes. I could not tell you who my favourite was I think it switched around often but Todd’s character development was so moving to see 🥺 and him knowing what was right and pushing aside his fears to stand up first at the end was almost tear-jerking phew go todd. And you could just see it in mr keatings face that he knew there was a lil breakthrough there with todd and why am i talking so much about this one scene. Anyway! Characterization was beautiful and everyone was so unique even down to the way they reacted to neils death was so sad yet refreshing bc I find sometimes characters can overlap a lot. The differences here are what truly made the group. They had their conflicts, they had their laughs, they had their fights, but you could tell their relationship was strong - even after camerons bs at the end about throwing mr keating under the bus. Anyway I’ll shut up but there’s my very brief analysis 😂💟💟

your short analysis was very insightful!! i agree with all you said, especially about todd and his character development (he’s my fav <3 i relate to him on a whole other level) and i knowwwwww the end scene of them standing on their desks was literally so powerful and moving, truly a masterpiece. 

this movie is honestly the main inspiration for writing the setting of Hartford, with all the dark academia and school vibe (apart from being set in the 50′s, so tech and fashion are different, but it still helps me make the school setting a bit better) and i 100% agree with you about mr keating, he’s the only adult in the whole film that i actually like <3 i wish he was my english teacher

i love all the characters sm, and the way they’re so unique (apart from hairstyles lol) and have their fulfilling roles in the group is so nice to watch. especially the way they reacted to neil’s death (MY POOR BB OMG) it really strengthened their characters i think, cos by truly breaking them we got to see what really mattered to them and how they processed and dealt with grief and so on, which importantly defined their characters. (on a side note, i did write a depressing little fic about todd after neil’s death, if you wanted to read it <3 no pressure ofc)

Angst(hurt/comfort ish?): kinda hanahaki au!! the reader confessing to zhongli, but he declines! He dearly loves the reader, but he wants them to live their life to the fullest. He doesnt want the reader to feel the burden of growing up alone while their lover remains youthful. The reader refuses contact with him or anyone for a while!! But they get confused bc why aren't they coughing up flowers? Zhongli doesn't love them back, right? Maybe they confront zl!!

Firstly thank you so much! I’m glad you like my writing so much. And I always love to hear ideas, so thank you for sending them my way!

Secondly because the request before this way also about jealousy I decided to take on the second prompt. Though I might stick the other one in my back pocket to write later, if you don’t mind of course.

Now, about the prompt. I’ll be completely honest I didn’t know what Hanahaki was before this request. I’ve probably heard of it in passing, but I did have to Google it to find out what I was working with. Since I wasn’t very familiar with the details of the trope I ended up lifting most of the symptoms from tuberculosis – which I learned is a lot more “common” than I thought, though it’s still considered rare in most developed countries about 1.4 million people die from it a year – which I kind surprised about considering it’s passed via air particles and not by things like foul water but antibiotic resistant mutations, etc.; I digress. Anyways if some of the rules are off that’s why. 

I didn’t talk about the actual disease too much in the end since the reader isn’t supposed to have it. Instead I focused more on the idea of how would somehow act if they thought they were doomed to die. I think it was a very interesting thing to explore, although funnily I think if you really picked through the fic you’d be able to figure out a lot of media I consume, since I feel a lot of my ideas stem from various media I’ve read as to death and love and immortality. 

I also made the ending positive to ambiguous. I might write a more concrete part later, but I felt the ending fit the general atmosphere a little better. Just because my brain took this prompt and somehow ran all the way back to romanticism. 

Speaking of which I thought it was very funny that Hanahaki in some ways reminds me of the romanticization of tuberculosis in the Victorian era. It was just kinda interesting to note.

Anyways sorry for rambling so much, but my thought process for writing this was very extensive and all over the place. I hope you don’t mind me going into it a bit, I think it’s kinda interesting, even if it’s probably not.

MODERN FAMILY !!! the ending is so upsetting in a mostly positive way and cAN I JUST SAY I RARELY CRY WHEN I WATCH SOMETHING BUT THIS!!! it took me three days before i could think about the ending scene without having any tears form in my eyes good GOD. my sister and i started b99 recently and we made it to s4 rn and honestly i am so glad to see a show where they can actually make lgbtq jokes without it being homophobic. and all of the characters are so <3 !!! its so cop propaganda but it also portrays poc and lgbtq people in such a good way that i can’t hate it :,). also idk if its the enfp in me but something about jake peralta and phil dunphy feel really really relatable. AND OOOH COMMUNITY HAS BEEN ON MY ‘TO WATCH’ LIST FOR AGES BUT BECAUSE OF THIS IM GONNA WATCH IT ONCE I FINISH WATCHING AHS (idk if u watched but hell house and coven >>>). ALSO THE GOOD PLACE’S LATTER SEASONS ARE JUST AS GOOD AS THE FIRST TWO IM SO GLAD THEY NEVER TRIED TO KEEP IT GOING UNTIL IT BECAME A PILE OF SHIT (ie: i love supernatural but…supernatural 😔). as for criminal minds i started it not too long ago but i can’t find the site i used to watch it on so i couldn’t finish season 1 </3 .

MODERN FAMILY YES !! it’s just so rewatchable and heartwarming and I love the portrayal of family,, like yeah stuff isn’t perfect but you’re all there for each other in the end,, very easily one of my comfort shows...the finale made my heart clench but I thought it was a good way to wrap up the series </3 I feel the same about B99 honestly,, like yes cop propaganda but also the poc + lgbtq+ rep makes my heart all warm and sighh phil dunphy just lowkey jake peralta as a suburban dad,, I feel like he’ll treat Mac in the same way Phil treats Luke <3 COMMUNITY IS AMAZING,, the way they just play around with so many genres and concepts is amazing like no other show could have pulled it off but them aaaa and yes tgp is just godtier television,, the way I audibly gasped at the s1 finale?? no other show will ever get that reaction from me
