I'm learning more and more about my chronic illness now that I've given up on doctors, and that's fucking sad. I thought I was supposed to look to them for their expertise and their knowledge and manage my health with their help. Silly me.
Sorry. I'm still bitter about being sick for years with a horrible quality of life, and that all changed when I stopped asking for their help.
Anyways! New knowledge has been gleaned again! Even a small amount of pain is reflected in my body's stress levels and disrupts my sleep. It also makes me sleep more, likely in an attempt to repair.
Wifey convinced me to eat a small amount of "no" foods so I could enjoy the holiday. We both expected pain today. Being able to measure what causes how much is neat, though. Like, yes, I'm making myself sick to see what I can slack on because the world doesn't work with my diet restrictions.
The whole point of this? To say I've been sleeping and also celebrate new health knowledge.

things to do instead of eating!! 🖤
- pluck your eyebrows if they‘re slightly overgrown
- practice an instrument if u play one
- decorate your room / rearrange it
- read a book (preferably outside)
- go on walks
- call with some friends
- go on tumblr ( obvious lol )
- search for some healthy recipes
- bake something for friends / relatives
- try a new hobby ( i absolutely love crocheting )
- make some handmade gifts ( perfect for christmas )
- try out a new makeup style
- put some cute outfits together u wanna wear if you reach your gw
- browse through online shops
- listen to new music

MCAS update: since starting iron treatment with the aim to get my ferritin stores over 100 for migraine prevention, I’ve finally been able to raise my protein intake.
(Hey, did you guys know that while some MCAS patients present with abnormally high levels of ferritin, low ferritin can cause mast cells to degranulate? And mast cells store and release ferritin when they degranulate, so it’s like a shitty ouroboros of self-fulfilling misery? I didn’t. No one told me, the person with a mast cell disease and chronic lifelong anemia 🙃🙃🙃)
This is a big deal for me because even after years of treatment, this time last year I was living on 7-16g of protein a day because attempting to eat more than that was priming me for an anaphylactic reaction.
As of today, after 3 months of consistent iron treatment, I’m able to eat 50-60g a day.
Progress!!! 🎉

I've made some poor food choices lately. It's hard, to be honest. I say it's fine, and I deal with the lack of everything I used to love because being in so much pain and unable to get out of bed was isolating.
It was me watching years go by where I had no future to look forward to because I couldn't make plans. It was not being present as my child grew up and missing teaching and learning with them. It was just making it through.
But I'm so restricted now that there is never a picture anywhere of something that I can actually eat. And I miss enjoying food.
