Katsu curry is a national Japanese dish that consists of katsu (deep-fried meat such as pork cutlet or chicken cutlet) placed on top of curry rice. It is typically served with curry rice topped with fried meat and curry sauce.
Katsu curry is characterized by the exquisite taste of the cutlet wrapped in crispy batter and the rich roux. There are various styles depending on the store and region, such as the spiciness and richness of the curry, the thickness and type of cutlet, and whether the curry is served over rice or on the side.
In particular, Kyoto's cutlet curry has a rich and sweet sauce. You can enjoy traditional cutlet curry at long-established restaurants and cafes in Kyoto. This is a dish where you can enjoy the exquisite harmony of the juicy fried meat and curry sauce.

Brought mum to Causeway Point for shopping and had an early dinner at Food Republic. Ordered the Beef Tendon & Tripe Noodles Soup (S$11) from The Hong House Beef Noodles as mum enjoyed it the last time she had it.
I myself went for the Chicken Katsu Omelette Original Curry Rice (S$8.40) from Washoku Goen. It came with an omelette blanketing the white rice and topped with a deep-fried breaded chicken cutlet. The other half of the plate is filled with Japanese curry gravy and potato cubes. The chicken is both crispy and succulent and the curry seasoned more toward savoury and spicy rather than sweet which is a good thing for me.
Slippery Egg Over Curry Chicken Cutlet and Little Bear Milk Tea
Had slippery egg over curry chicken cutlet🍛, with little bear milk tea. Having egg with curry flavoured chicken, is delicious🍗. The chicken is crispy and crunchy. There are rice underneath🍚. The little bear milk tea is cute🧋. More like taking a bath while drinking the tea. All Hong Kong-style flavour. Was cool and sweet😋. Can drink multiple cups. Making me into a bear🐻. Went to Maruhachi Donburi & Curry a couple of bus stop away for dinner. Placed the order and received the buzzer from the stall. Ten minutes later, the buzzer is vibrating and I went to pick up my Pork Katsu Sets (S$11.80 each). Each set meal is served with shredded cabbages, white rice and miso soup with mustard and tonkatsu sauces.
The Pork Katsu is beautifully deep-fried in golden brown panko crumbs. The pork is thick enough to remain moist and the crust is so crispy. Dip it into the tangy sweet tonkatsu sauce and eat it with the plain rice or salad drizzled with sesame sauce.
PS - Sad to see the stall closed less than a year after opening. Not sure if it is because of the lack of customers for this area or the high rental overhead.
