HoB Isekai-ed Artist - Curry Rice

Curry rice is one of my favorite foods, & this might’ve been my best batch! Like a lot of home cooks, I used the boxed curry roux (we like Vermont Curry), but someday I’d like to try making my own - I watched a few videos, & it doesn’t look too complicated. ^_^ Curry itself is like that - just add protein, root veggies, & whatever personal touches you’d like 🍛✨

Food fact: I think one of the reasons why we make curry rice in Galar is because we apparently have the British to thank for introducing curry to Japan. The more you know!

鯖カレーと半ラーメン

幼馴染から旅行土産でもらったレッドカレーペーストで、初めてレッドカレーを作ってみた 🍛

買い置きのあった缶入りのココナッツミルクと、具は鶏肉、アジアスーパーで買ったタイ茄子、あとは玉ねぎでシンプルに。

味見をしたら少し薄めかな〜？と感じたので、味覇と少し残っていたサテトム（ベトナムの調味料）を足してみたらめちゃめちゃ好みの味に仕上がりました❣️😋

自宅では何年も自分のオリジナルのキーマカレーか、スパイスカレーしか作ってなかったので、タイ風のカレーはすごく新鮮！ またたまに作ってみようかな 😉

Curry Sliced Beef Over Rice

Had Malaysian style curry sliced beef over rice, with broccoli and carrot🍛. Can pour the curry sauce upon receiving the dish. Tastes savoury and authentic😋. Easy to digest when eating. Had a mango coconut milk with an iced bear🥭🥥. More like a bear is offering the drink. From “Sing Choi Kee”

Curry rice is such a comfort food, so if I'm making it at home, it's because I want something comforting and predictable, and so I usually just use the curry roux as is. But this time I wanted something a little different so I experimented and ended up with something really lovely and new!

I'd always kinda wanted to try this one common secret ingredient (隠し味 kakushi-aji; literally 'hidden flavor') for curry: coffee! It was nice, but not quite what I wanted, so I started playing around. Added a splash of fish sauce, some lemon juice, smoked ghost pepper, and finally a little brown sugar to balance things and bring it back closer to a curry flavor profile. Still Japanese-ish but with a Southeast Asian bite and also something extra. I'll definitely try it again someday!
