Stealing kisses.
This is a gift as my half of a trade for @peacerisendove for their (very compelling) pairing of Werner Vertigo and King Faraday! You can read what they’ve written for this pairing right here!

Spoilers for Absolute Power: Task Force VII #4!
It's a blink-and-you'll miss it cameo, but I was definitely surprised to see Roscoe and Len forced into building some device for Amanda Waller's regime. (Not sure if the woman working with Doctor Psycho is a miscoloured Lisa or somebody else, and the guy in the top hat could be the Shade or maybe the Wizard. And poor Houngan's been whitewashed.) Obviously we're being teased with what the villains are constructing, but there's no indication of what it is aside from looking like some kind of portal. Waller's probably got designs on other multiversal Earths or other planets.
Not shown because I cropped the page: Ralph Dibny beaten half to death by a guard with a bloody baton. Which is horrible, but it's also kind of weird that he has elongated and twisted limbs when he's supposed to be depowered. I hope the guard didn't do that to him :\

WERNER VERTIGO vs MAXWELL LORD
DC Downgrade Bracket Round 2 - Match 4
🤢Werner Vertigo (Count Vertigo)🤢
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Went from being an complicated but interesting morally grey disabled character whose disability was important to his character to a one note ugly as fuck xenophobic villain caricature whose deafness is only ever brought up so writers can be ableist + audist
🤢Maxwell Lord🤢
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Max was obliterated by Countdown to Infinite Crisis. Before it, he was a manipulative businessman whose attempt to run the Justice League for personal benefit had caused him start caring about its members, listening to his conscience, and genuinely trying to do the right thing. He was still a bastard when it was funny, but his darkest moments outside of his introductory arc were things he did to try and keep the League intact and his friends safe. Countdown to Infinite Crisis turned him into a generic supervillain who secretly hated superheroes the whole time, never mind the fact that Martian Manhunter had read his mind after he'd nearly died turning his back on his first evil scheme and confirmed that his motives were good. Then Wonder Woman killed him, which has become the go-to reference moment for people who don't actually know anything about her to back up their bad takes. Also his outfit is stupid.
*Worse meaning more devastating of a downgrade

"Now I know something decidely non-kosher is going on here. There's no way I could ever duck one of Dinah's attacks-- nor disarm Connor. And lifting a taser arrow from Roy's quiver in the same move? Not happening. This isn't real."

Batman: The Animated Series - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Vertigox
The terrorist villain known as Vertigo had been an expelled former member of the Society of Shadows. His weapon of choice was a specialized eye-patch that emitted a strange ray; a ray that had the effect of inducing powerful and vertiginous hallucinations in anyone in his vicinity.
After abandons the Society of Shadows, Vertigo set off on his own and attempted to steal an experimental sonic drill. This drill had been developed by Wayne Enterprising and was designed for non-invasive drilling for rare elements. Yet Vertigo wanted it for his own nefarious purposes.
In his effort to stop this villain, Batman found himself teaming up with a mysterious woman named Talia al Ghul. The pair's pursuit led to the bell tower of an old castle.  Atop this tower, Vertigo caught Batman in the grips of his hallucinogenic ray and the Dark Knight almost perished.  Just then, however, Talia sounded the large bell disorienting Vertigo to such an extent that he fell from the tower into the river bellow.  It remains unknown if the villain survived the fall.
The always fun Michael York provided the voice for Vertigo with the villain appearing in the forty-fourth episode of the first season of Batman: The Animated Series, ‘Off Balance.’
