i have absolutely no proof or any specific thing to go off for this very specific headcanon lmao

but i think astarion sings. and he sings well. (yes i know I think every character i love can sing, but i just fucking love music)

maybe that was his only form of solace when he was trapped with cazador. just the music within him, that he would only share with himself. it was his. and his alone.

when he got a brief moment of solitude, he would start to hum. comfy songs that he used to sing at school. or with his mom.

then he would start whispering, softly singing in fear of having that taken away from him, too. he would sing so quietly, as long as he could, stopping immediately if he so much as thought someone would hear.

once he‘s with tav, he keeps this secret to himself still. unwilling to give this one thing away to someone, because it‘s the last treasure of his own.

and when he sneaks off to get blood, alone at night in the dark, when he‘s sure no one can hear him, he just lets go. singing his little heart out.

the thought came to me watching this:

hozier has my heart already. but i closed my eyes and pictured astarion deep in the woods, just letting himself finally sing as loudly as he can. for the first time in 200 years.

tears streaming down his pale face, hearing his passion release for the first time in so damn long.

maybe some day when tav proves to be worthy, he‘ll share the gift. but not now. it is still his alone.

In the beginning there was darkness…

The first time they had sex, it was this primitive thing that felt like it had taken over his body and his brain's better judgement. Want and need and touch and hurry.

When they came, it was a collective sigh of relief from every muscle and sinew of his body. Relieved and excited all at once. He'd been in the dark for so long. A cold, lonely trip around the solar system and suddenly Ian's sun came along and exploded light into his universe. A cosmic force that warmed his existence.

He saw stars.
