I want to post more often about what's been going on with my system (since this is supposed to be a system blog), but honestly I don't think there's much to say. But I guess that in itself is something to remark about – that at a certain point, your plurality may just become "yeah yeah the Kyubey fictive posting on class discussion boards, we've all seen it". And that's okay. Good, even, in some ways. You don't have to lose your curiosity for your plurality, and you don't have to have everything figured out to get to this point (goodness knows We don't), but you can also just live as a system. It's kinda nice

Hey, I've never used Tumblr before so hopefully this gets to you. I'm fairly sure that I have DID but my Mom doesn't believe I do (probably because I haven't talk to her about traumatic stuff that happened in my life). What do I do? My Mom usually accompanies me in the doctors office so I can't really express my concerns with my doctor. I do not feel safe exposing my age so I'll say that I am under eightteen.
honestly, this is a really tough situation to be in. your best bet may be to ask her to let you do the appointment yourself— or, barring that, to ask her to leave the room so you can talk privately with your doctor. either way, she’ll have to know about it eventually because there’s not much a doctor can do— usually they’ll refer you to a psychiatrist or another kind of specialist.
i had to wait until i was legally 18 to even begin to pursue any kind of medical care for my DID. the unfortunate truth is that minors don’t have a lot of control over their medical care, and it’s highly dependent on both their parents and doctors believing them and wanting to help them. if that becomes the case for you, there’s a very large chance you’re going to have to navigate it alone for a while. there are a lot of resources out there for systems, and i encourage you to learn all that you can first and foremost. i’ve talked a bit about how you can start to research DID here, and i’ve talked about system tips here.
i’m so sorry you’re in this situation, but i really do hope that you’re able to get the help that you need. good luck anon <3

May we ask what your stance is regarding endogenic systems?
i try to stay out of syscourse if i can help it, but all types of systems are welcome here. our content is generally geared towards those with CDDs, since we have DID ourselves and that’s what we’re most familiar with, but we have no issues with endogenic or nondisordered systems interacting with us or our content :)
we are very strictly anti-syscourse though. i have better things to do than argue with strangers on the internet

I think people w DID should be able to talk about in nonchalantly bc no it's not a weird scary rare disorder it's not even the most interesting thing about me. But it does affect literally every day of my life so yes it would be nice to talk about. Occasionally.

It doesn’t happen like that. You don’t just wake up one day and find that everything has worked itself out. You must get out of bed, morning after morning, and make a conscious effort to control the circumstances of that given day. You must learn to handle your issues with grace because you respect what they are attempting to teach you. You must drown your insecurities slowly, one self-realization at a time. You must allow yourself to feel the fear bubbling just beneath your skin but you must never allow it the satisfaction of crippling you; grit your teeth and march on. You see, they never tell you how hard these things will be. This fight to reclaim yourself is not easy or straightforward but, my god, is it necessary.

my biggest advice for (especially but not exclusively new(ly discovered)) systems is... to take everyones advice with a grain of salt. whats good for one system is catestrophically bad for another. a lot of posts frame their advice as perfect and infallible (which i doubt is intentional on the posters part), but it really isnt. just do what works best for your system.

hi, previous anon here. Idk if you'll know what to do but might as well ask. Some time ago one of my headmates (let's call them x) realised they're actually multiple alters and now the whole system is in chaos. Each of the "rediscovered" headmates have an identity crisis, they have no idea who they are, they don't know how to learn that and they might not want to learn cuz they clearly haven't moved on from the person they thought they were. I think they're grieving over x (like as if x has actually died). I tried to help them but I used to be very close with x and I think they're getting reminded that they're not x. Even if I tried to tell them that I'll love them regardless and that we can make new memories, they refused to listen. I'm just worried. Atp they're danger to themselves and the body, and the rest of the system went hiding so it's just me. I don't know what to do anymore. If you have any ideas please tell me
(hope this was readable)
almost sounds like a subsystem situation from the way you’re describing it? like a system within a system situation? its possible that they Are all x, just different parts of x, if that makes any sense
and if thats not whats going on: idk how much this helps, but like… they don’t have to stop being x just bc they realized theyre different alters. there’s no technical rule saying that they Have to be distinct from each other or that they cant share that identity.
other than that, probably best to treat this just like helping someone discover that theyre a system. treat them with grace n help em come to terms w it however you can. and like, let them grieve. x might not be gone but realizing that youre not who you thought you were is a terrifying experience in of itself. they might just need time until theyre ready to start being someone else.
long story short, treat em with kindness. theyre going through a massive, life-upheaving rough patch. theyre gonna need some time to bounce back, and thats ok.
as for being a danger, if you guys have a Method for dealing with that, it’ll probably work just as well. if you don’t have a method for it, probably time to develop one. make sure you’re getting enough food, hydration, sleep, etc while all this is happening. if you have the access to someone you trust, have them frequently check in on yall so there’s some sort of fallback in an emergency. if yall have a therapist, bring this up to them.
if you need something other than this lmk and i can pass this question on to our host n main Guy for dealing with tough situations like this, just sounded like yall needed pretty immediate advice

if you were trying to reach out mentally, i wouldn’t immediately write it off as you just not having alters. internal communication is a skill that can take months to develop, and you won’t just Start hearing alters over night. if you left a note, it could take a while for others to get back to you. take it slowly and calmly.
if it turns out that they’re not ready yet, that’s okay, too! continue doing what you’re doing, and be open for when they are ready.
if it turns out you don’t have alters at all, that’s perfectly okay as well, and that doesnt mean youve been lying or faking it at all. it just means that you explored a possibility and then ruled it out. as long as you’re not pushing yourself in either direction or forcing it, you’ll be perfectly fine :)
i need help with if im a osdd-1b sys or just claiming to be
So yesterday I told my friend (who is a osdd-1b) that I might/maybe have or is a osdd-1b and that I tend to not have blackouts but sometimes have memory problems but can still remember. And they told me that I might as will have osdd-1b. But I'm just not sure if I'm am and even I was I would understand more but rn I'm just full of confusion. I just help defining if I'm a sys of not. And not claiming to be. :( cuz I don't want to lie to other sys (DiD, Osdd + 1b and 1a or plural) that I'm a osdd- 1b even though I'm not sure. Just needing help that's all. /srs
hi!
i want you to know, first and foremost, that it is okay to say you have osdd-1b and end up being wrong. the most important thing isn’t that you’re “right”, it’s that the label you’re using gives you either access to a community that can help you or leads you to resources that can help you manage your symptoms.
second, osdd-1b is defined by both lack of amnesia and alters. the memory issues could be linked to any number of things, but the important thing here is if you have alters or multiple identities. if you do suspect that you have alters, i’d suggest reaching out to them and starting conversations with them (mentally if you can manage that, or through a medium such as a notebook, discord, etc) to start to explore the possibility.
third, doubting yourself and denial is actually very very common in both CDDs and nondisordered plurals. CDDs in particular are usually supposed to be hidden from you, so finding and digging into cracks in the disguise can cause your brain to doubt and deny it as a final stand between you and the disorder. CDDs are ultimately a coping mechanism, and by starting to break down the dissociative barriers by acknowledging your system, it can cause a bit of a scramble in your system. if you notice a sudden influx of new members or you realize the way your system used to run changes, that’s completely ok. it’s your brain trying to make up for the fact that it’s been found out.
i have a more in depth video about DID in particular here, and tips for systems (especially newly discovered ones) here.
good luck, and i hope this helped! if you have any more questions, ask box is always open :)
