Looking For Sponsors

The need is great this year. The group I started to try to help people get sponsored for Christmas is already at 300 members. There are a few sponsors in the group but the need this year is unreal.

I have people who are domestic violence survivors, disabled children, children who just recently lost a parent, etc. The list goes on.

We need more sponsors. Last year, we were able to help 25 families. It wasn't much, but at least we were able to make sure many kids had a little something to open Christmas day.

My partner and I are both disabled and we have special needs twins (Autism, ADHD, ODD, sensory processing disorder) whose birthday is New Year's Eve, due to bad advice from their school we've accidentally disqualified ourselves from Christmas help this year.

I've made an Amazon as well as walmart wish list of a few items under $25 (I won't add anything more expensive) please don't feel obligated to buy anything. Even if you can only reblog or share somewhere else I'll be thankful. We have already given up everything we can and just found out the building we rent in is under foreclosure.

i hate to ask Tumblr, but i have to.

my daughter and i moved out on our own in June. previously, we had been living with my mother and aunt, both of whom were pretty emotionally abusive. we have cut off most ties with them but just being out of the house has helped us immensely.

the tough part is that i am now a single mom having to pay rent and bills for the first time ever. no one ever told me just how hard that is. most weeks, i only have about $100 leftover from my paychecks. that has to wash our clothes, put gas in the car and feed us!

as such, i realize we need some help for Christmas. because Lilli is 14, she no longer qualifies for programs like Angel Tree, which sucks, because teens deserve Christmas too.

So, I wish I was just posting this to say Merry Christmas, which I do wish that for all of you, but this is actually a desperate plea.

I have been manic for the past two days, and all that I feel will help me make it through the next day is to make myself some of the Christmas sweets that I usually have by won't this year. I am lucky enough to have regular food thanks to an amazing friend, so I know this isn't a necessity.

So Pennys school (she’s in early Pre-k) are doing this thing where their toddlers get presents from someone who adopts them we got Ford motor company and I have to say they were very generous and I appreciate it a lot as someone who struggles financially and I don’t hear a lot of light. Great things posted on here and I don’t even post a lot of great things on here. Normally it’s just my negative experiences so I thought I’d share this for the Christmas spirit..!

Christmas Help

Last year, I created a FB group to help those in need for Christmas. We helped members, who needed help to give their loved ones something to unwrap on Christmas morning, get sponsored. We were able to get several families sponsored.

This year, the homelessness issue was getting to be too much. I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to do the group again. I wasn't sure if I would even be able to with our daily lives up in the air all the time.

Since we finally have a home, I have decided to try to keep the blessing moving forward. I have gone ahead and gotten the group up and running.

We need sponsors. The need continues to be great and many families are facing some very tough real life issues from a parent passing away to individuals escaping domestic violence and having to start over.

I'm sharing a link to the group everywhere to try to get some help. If anyone would like to sponsor a family (it is not required for sponsors to buy everything on the wishlists) it would help to give a good Christmas to someone in need. I want to be able to help even more people this year!

just some holiday reminders!!

It’s okay to have complicated feelings about the holidays (even if you used to really love them).

it’s okay to hide in the bathroom/take a step outside for some deep breaths.

it’s okay if events or activities meant to be ‘fun/recreational’ (like shopping, cookie decorating, etc) are stressful or tiring for you.

remember that it’s okay to rest 💜

it’s okay to set boundaries even around family (‘I don’t feel like talking about that right now, etc’)

you deserve to be hydrated, rested, and well fed 💜

There is no wrong way to feel about something! There can be so much shame around struggling in a season famous for being filled with ‘love and joy.’ You aren’t alone and you are loved 💜💜
