idk how i wrote this much about one oc but here we go. some character arc development b4 i update the bio?

seree's indebted to the city of angels from birth; catapulted into the limelight when her entrance into this world is broadcast via her parent's dying reality show. seree steps further into the spotlight at the age of four; landing a coveted role on a tv show produced by one of the industry's largest entertainment networks. she became a household name overnight, stealing the hearts of millions with her performances in family-friendly movies and tv shows with the charming personality displayed on screen. as seree grew older, the pressures of fame began to take their toll. she's close to surpassing her father as the primary earner, an impressive feat considering most people can't even conceptualize the amount of wealth the rhani family hoards even before they decide to pimp out their youngest for more money. seree's caught in the hollywood machine; it's not long before she strays from the innocent character expertly crafted for her before seree can even develop her own personality. the transition from child star to teen sensation is a rocky one. that era of seree's life is marred by rebellious behavior, scandalous headlines, and obscene displays of wealth. after she loses her spot on her children's tv show, seree's mother uses her connections as a former high fashion model to give her daughter a leg up in the notorious industry. there's little shame in capitalizing on a common ideology amongst the celebrity elite; there's no such thing as bad press. soon, seree's once-promising film career began to unravel, embroiled in one controversy after another. form wild parties, to public meltdowns, her name becomes synonymous with tabloid fodder and paparazzi snapshots. as seree's star dims in the entertainment world, she finds herself at a crossroads. tired of the constant scrutiny and craving something beyond the glitz and toxic glamour of hollywood, she secretly is grateful when she gets to leave that behind. even if it's because her father threatens to cut off access to her trust fund unless she leaves the limelight long enough to get a college degree. shocking the general public, seree rhani disappears from the spotlight practically overnight. gone are the pieces of designer wear and catwalks. in a bout of determination to reclaim her life and find fulfillment outside of the spotlight, seree embarks on a path of healing, rebuilding her identity, and finding fulfillment. her journey leads her to a place completely unexpected to everyone around her; no one is more shocked than seree to discover her affinity and adoration of biology. specifically, the diversity in aquatic ecosystems. facing the scrutiny of the unforgiving public's perception of her and misogynistic ideas about her seeming so out of place in her newfound field, seree trades in the title of glorified influencer for muck boots and rubber flippers as she dives headfirst into the world of marine biology and ocean conservation. surprising everyone, including herself, she immerses herself in studying marine life, finding solace and purpose in the ocean's depths or a research laboratory. far from the flashing lights of l.a or her family's expectations, seree experiences a newfound sense of joy, even in the grittiest moments of her work. with each dive into azure waters, she finds an unfamiliar sense of peace that eluded her for so long. her past as a child actor and scandalous model still lingers in the minds of many. there would always be some journalist or everyday internet troll digging up old pictures or clips of her at her worst. seree refuses to let her messy past or strangers define her. there's more to fascinate and challenge her while embracing those newfound passions with fierce determination, inadvertently proving to herself and the world that there was always more to her than meets the eye. seree rhani finds redemption from the troubles of her former life and the shadows cast by past scandals in the depths of the sea. amidst crushing depths, the whispers and invasive questions about her past are swiftly drowned out

An exploration of a headcanon where Sanji likes to draw in his free time. This fic always leaves me with a warm feeling every time I read it because how endearingly sweet it is. It’s basically a domestic fluff story about both ZoSan and the Strawhats crew in general.

green with envy blues by adietxt (Gen, 1.5k)

A cute fic about Zoro being jealous. Jealous!Zoro has been one of those tropes that make me screech like a feral animal every time I come across it and this fic does exactly that. It’s pretty short and simple but it captures the characters very well. It’s set during pre-timeskip which makes it even better to me because pre-TS Zoro possesses that boyish quality that post-TS Zoro doesn’t necessarily have anymore.  OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: Fuck, Marry, Kill (or, how Usopp becomes the best matchmaker of the sea without really trying) (Teen, 4.8k) — Usopp introduces the Strawhats to a game that ends up causing Sanji to overthink things - a lot of things.

Old Men Blues by postmoderne (Gen, 2k)

Quoting directly from the fic’s summary, “Sanji and Zoro: two ancient fucks (in love).” because this is exactly that, a story about old men ZoSan. Old Zoro and old Sanji are both still as stubborn as ever and it’s endearing. OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: Something Golden (Teen, 1.6k) — Canon reimagining where Zoro met Sanji at the Baratie pre-series.

Meet me under the orange tree by candelina (Gen, 3.9k)

A canon divergence AU where Zoro and Sanji met as kids, as Zeff opened up Baratie in Zoro’s hometown. It’s an adorable and heartwarming story of little Zoro and little Sanji’s friendship. There’s also a part two which is also worth reading. OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: The whole world will know (2.3k) — Old men ZoSan fic, this one involves Zoro deliberately showing himself to the Marines for god knows what. It’s sweet, it’s beautiful, and it shows that Zoro is as reckless and idiotic as he is a loving, devoted husband.

Zoro’s Boyfriend, Who Lives In Canada by donutsandcoffee (Gen, 2.6k)

Modern AU, where Zoro’s friends try to stop him from believing that his imaginary, totally made-up boyfriend actually exists. Of course Zoro’s boyfriend doesn’t actually exist, because with the way Zoro describes him he’s way too perfect to exist and how can anyone so perfect actually exist? A hilarious story of misunderstandings.  OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: Prison Blues (Teen, 2.8k) and it’s a long way forward (Teen, 5k) — serve as both a ZoSan story and a great Sanji character study. 

The Three of Swords by 8ball (Teen, 30k, multi-chapters & completed)

A medieval AU with knight Zoro and prince Sanji, a concept that starts to really grow on me after I begin to read this fic. In this story, Zoro is a cursed knight appointed to serve Sanji, a kind-hearted prince whom Zoro eventually pines over. It’s a beautiful take of prince and knight AU; devoted knight Zoro is something that I didn’t know I need. It also has a sequel.  OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: The Ocean's Child series — a canon-divergence mermaid!Sanji AU

(I Want) Someone to Love Me by three_days_late (Teen, 7.9k)

Sanji is about to turn 17, so he hopes that he can get his first kiss before that. A cute high school AU that involves everyone wanting to kiss Sanji (honestly, who doesn’t) but only one person gets to actually do it.  OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: Blood Red (Teen, 400 words) — this might be a little biased because this fic is inspired by my comic, but it’s also a perfectly good reason why I must add it here; this fic is able to capture the spirit of the comic perfectly. If you want to read a short exposition of Zoro showing his darker, yet protective side, then this fic is worth the read. Warning for blood & hints of violence. The Christmas Swap (Teen, 37k, multi-chapters & completed) — a modern AU in which Sanji and Reiju switch partners during Christmas so they can attend their family gathering without having to come out as queer. It’s a wonderful story about family, relationships, and the struggles of maintaining those things as a queer person. The Only Way Out (Is Through) (Teen, 4.8k) — a beautiful Prince Sanji and Knight Zoro story, where circumstances forced them to separate & unable to be together. It also has a side Nami/Vivi. I Have Loved You for 1000 Years (I'll Love You for 1000 More) (Teen, 8.9k) — Another Prince Sanji & Knight Zoro AU involving time travel & the sacrifices you go through for the ones you love.

Curly Angel by APTX & translated to English by NMTD (Teen, 9.4k, two chapters & completed)

In this alternative canon universe, everyone has a guardian angel, and Zoro’s just happened to be Sanji. Hilarity ensues.

Let me be your Inspiration by TheWanderers (Teen, 19.8k)

College AU where Sanji is an artist/painter - another fic that explores Sanji as someone with an artistic streak, but also so much more. It’s a beautiful story that starts out with Zoro having to model for Sanji’s painting but ends up falling in love with him. I love the way the author adapts the characters’ canon backstory into this universe.

Retrogade by Hazel_Athena (Teen, 21.9k, two-chapters & completed)

Sanji got badly injured after a fight, and ends up losing a big chunk of memories - it doesn’t bother him too much until he notices how weird Zoro starts to act around him. A really good temporary amnesia fic with some really delicious pining!Zoro material. OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: Medieval ZoSan series — a medieval arranged marriage AU. Renegade Queen (Teen, 76k, multi-chapters & completed) — a canon divergent AU where Sora lives and takes all her children with her - it's more of a Vinsmoke family story with ZoSan on the side.

Nothing Happened (Gen, 16k, multi-chapters & completed)

An angsty survival story where the Strawhats get stranded in a middle of the seas with no means to escape and rapidly declining food stock. This fic does a really good job at keeping you in suspense, and the way it handles Zoro and Sanji's relationship destroyed me emotionally. OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: Each A Love Song (Gen, 8.6k) — Sanji is frustrated because Zoro’s surprisingly popular with women when he doesn’t even like them back. A story of a confused Sanji trying to find love and being the World’s Most Oblivious Man. Three Blades (Gen, 5k) — a Western AU where Sanji is a saloon owner and Zoro is a bounty hunter.

The Melody of Missing You by BleuReivers (Teen, 11k)

Zoro is forced to confront his feelings in the aftermath of Sanji's departure during the Whole Cake Island arc. I love the way this story examines Zoro's softer, more vulnerable side in a painfully beautiful way, and the whole fic has this hazy, dream-like vibe that really fits with the plot.

Sick Day by Styx_in_the_mud (Teen, 1.3k)

Zoro gets sick, and Sanji takes care of him. A short sick!fic with a simple premise but very cute nonetheless.

This is There Are Many Benefits to Being A Marine Biologist: The Fic. Okay jokes aside, this is a modern fantasy AU fic where merpeople exist and it mainly tells about marine biologist Sanji and merman Zoro. It has an interesting premise and deals with some heavy subjects in later chapters, hence the Mature tag. It has a sequel, though it's currently ongoing. OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: The Game — a Modern AU with slight fantasy-ish element, where Zoro and Sanji are young orphans who find a mysterious game that might be able to change their lives.

Delphinium by toastie_bread (Mature, 39k, multi-chapters & completed)

Set in modern AU, stylist Sanji meets with police detective Zoro after his beauty salon got robbed; a cute rom-com story. There's also a side LawLu.

Steady, As She Goes by auspizien (Explicit, 155k, multi-chapters & completed)

I’ve always loved auspizien’s fics and this is the one fic that made me fall in love with their writing. This is a modern AU story where Zoro is an ex-agent with PTSD who meets and befriends Sanji, a paramedic. It’s a multi-chapter fic filled with humor, angst, pining, action, and good ol’ slow-burn.  OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: The Android Acquaintance (Explicit, 10k) — dystopian cyberpunk AU with android Sanji and bounty hunter Zoro. This fic partly inspires me to make the Blade Runner 2049 ZoSan art!

The Tribulations of Temptation by SweetyGreeny (Explicit, 18.5k)

Zoro accidentally sees Ace and Sanji doing… the do, and then spends days after that feeling shocked, confused, angry, and disappointed.  A delicious story of pining and jealous Zoro. There’s a slight AceSan in the beginning but the endgame is still ZoSan.   OTHER FICS FROM THIS AUTHOR: A Siren’s Sinking Song (Teen, 12k) — a canon-divergent AU where Sanji is a siren who one day meets a peculiar swordsman from a wandering ship; this story is beautiful and I love the idea of siren!Sanji, but please note the major character death TW.  The Burden of Blondes (Explicit, 11k) — Sanji finds out that Zoro has a thing for blondes, and for some reason he feels uneasy. A fun story with some good smut, and inspired me to make an art loosely based on it.

Thy Fearful Symmetry by Harubo (Explicit, 14.3k)

A modern AU where Sanji is a tourist visiting a tiger reserve during a family vacation and Zoro is a detective investigating a poaching ring. All of Harubo’s fics are godsend but I particularly love this one because the setting reads like a perfect rom-com drama movie about a stressed, overworked chef meeting a handsome detective. There’s also a nice tidbit where the Vinsmoke siblings are trying to get along with each other.

Done Dirt Cheap by Balderdashfromafool (Explicit, 99.7k, multi-chapters & completed)

A Western ZoSan AU, where Zoro is an outlaw and Sanji is a small town chef. This one is fun and lovely, and as someone who doesn’t read a lot of Western-themed stories, I love the way the author describes the Western setting in this fic. 

The Fox's Heart by Shadowcatxx (Explicit, 32k, multi-chapters & completed)

Historical/mythological AU where fox spirit Sanji falls in love with human samurai Zoro. A pretty heavy story about forbidden romance but ends with a happy ending. The fic deals with some period-typical issues like homophobia, misogyny, sexism, and transphobia, as well as some depictions of violence and (slight) animal abuse, so please be aware of that.

Mine by burnwaywardbird (Explicit, 4k)

A pure PWP fic of Zoro “punishing” Sanji for flirting with strangers. Super kinky and involves slight dom/sub undertones. Also, while this is mostly pure PWP, this fic is technically part of a series and while can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend to read the other parts as well (especially the ones preceding this fic).

pretty sanji series (Pretty & Surprise) by kickingsanji (12.6k in total)

A series of fics exploring Sanji's femininity and Zoro discovering that he has a thing for Sanji being pretty & wearing pretty things. As a Pretty Sanji truther, I love these fics to bits, not only because it handles Sanji dealing with his insecurities when it comes to his gender expression in a gentle, respectful way, but also because the smut is very good.

All Will be Well by thecrownofclowns (Explicit, 17k)

An incredibly sad but sweet zombie apocalypse AU about Sanji trying to survive the zombie outbreak all by himself, before eventually meeting Zoro. One of my favorite hurt/comfort fics.

Sanji got attacked while he was alone on the ship, causing him to go into heat. Zoro tries to help, but not without consequences. An exposition on how Zoro and Sanji handle their dynamics, and their feelings towards each other. Please mind the tags with this one.

I'm pretty sure that this is the first omegaverse ZoSan story that I have ever read, and one of the best ones I've ever read for a good reason. It involves Sanji, who suddenly got into his heat, and Zoro, the first one to discover Sanji in heat and learns for the first time he's an omega. I won't spoil anything, but I can say that the ending is great, the porn is delicious, and Zoro being possessive is exquisite.

Steps of Calidity by auspizien (Explicit, 42k, multi-chapters & completed)

I'm gonna preface this by saying that the smut here is ungodly good and very, very hot - and to be perfectly honest, one of the main reasons why I like this fic so much. But the plot is just as good and has an interesting take of how omegaverse dynamics might work in a modern world. Don't forget to mind the tags as well.

A GUIDE TO HOTD OCVERSE

🌿 — what is hotd ocv?

the hotd ocv is an alternate universe / non-canonical timeline that centers around ryah and calla targaryen. created by @ryahtargaryen and @callastargaryen , the hotd ocv changes the events within both fire & blood / hotd by adding in new characters, changing major plot points, and reimagining characters and their relationships with each other. it creates a storyline that can be summed up to: “what if the events that led to the dance of dragons never happened…”

🪷 — oc introduction

on 6/3/109 AC, princess rhaenyra and prince daemon targaryen welcomed their first babies to the world— twin girls they named ryah and calla. their birth was a surprise, for rhaenyra and daemon had only expected one baby. alas, there were two— and they came with haste into the world.

on the day of their birth, ryah and calla were deemed “the two headed dragon” by their father not only because they were targaryen twins, but because the egg he had picked months prior to catch in the cradle alongside his child hatched not only one but two dragons: rhaegal and snowfyre. daemon declared it to be fate. his girls were the magic of old valyria in the flesh.

princess ryah targaryen, the elder twin, had been born with the destiny to one day inherit the targaryen dynasty and rule the seven kingdoms. being the firstborn daughter of the heir to the iron throne, rhaenyra targaryen, ryah was her mother’s heir. bred for fire and blood, princess ryah was raised to rule. she was a fierce dragon-rider. a brilliant scholar. a skilled swordswoman. a savvy politician. a level-headed thinker. an unabashed rule follower. most of all, she is a gentle heart. she will one day make a fine queen with her loyal, devoted husband — prince aemond — and their smart, well-mannered children — daenerys, rhaen, and annika — by her side.

princess calla targaryen, the younger twin, was born with a warmth never before known. she was the sun shining through the — often described — cold red keep. whilst her sister studied and trained, she was content to needlepoint and draw. she showed little to no interest in the formal duties her name inherited. she sat often in the sept, praying to the mother and the maiden primarily. she knew nothing of politics and maths, only knowing flowers and high valyrian hymns. it is only through love and marriage calla accepts a grand title. lady wife to her lord husband, aegon, calla is content on her sheep farm. her days are full of time spent with her husband, their children, and her partner clarisse.

one of the biggest changes from canon (oc characters aside) are the romantic pairings. below are the (most significant) listed couples:

🥀 — major canon changes

because hotd ocverse is built upon the idea that the dance of the dragons and downfall of house targaryen does not happen, there has been many hours spent piecing together a consistent canon that leads to peace. the timeline details when and what happens, but this section highlights the why’s and how’s of the major canon changes.

• rhaenyra marries daemon.

with rhaenyra married to daemon, she gives birth to no bastards. her bloodline cannot be challenged. jace and luke have been changed in the canon of hotd ocv so that they are rhaenyra and daemon’s true-born sons born after ryah and calla. daemon and rhaenyra have three more sons: caeserys (joffery replacement) and a set of male twins, aerion and aelon (aegon iii and viserys ii replacements)

• betrothed as children.

to decrease discourse and silence anyone who dare think to plot against rhaenyra’s ascension, rhaenyra, daemon, alicent, and viserys betroth their three eldest children to each other. (note: not married as children. betrothed.)

prince aegon, the first-born son of the king, is promised to princess calla, the second-born daughter of the future queen, to ensure the crown never touches his head. any challenge aegon poses by simply breathing is lessened. it eliminates potential usurpation. raised to craft and chat, aegon and calla were a complimentary pair. it added to the already massive political benefit.

princess ryah, the first-born daughter and heir to the future queen, is promised to prince aemond, the second-born son of the king. ensuring a son of the king still sits the small council, prince aemond’s betrothal to princess ryah is a smart political move. aemond himself had little to no claim to the throne being — at the time — as far back as 10th in line in the line of succession, if not further. if usurpation were to arise, it would not have been aemond who is raised up against rhaenyra. it is his little claim to the throne that makes him a fine pick for princess ryah— as well as the history between them on the day he lost his eye.

prince jacaerys and princess helaena are promised on the agreement that they will inherit dragonstone. with varying opinions on who deserves to inherit what, it is one more sure way to see that each side of the argument gets both. hightower-targaryen blood not only sits the throne together through ryah and aemond, but it inherits old town through aegon and calla (unbeknownst to them at the time) as well as dragonstone through jace and helaena.

every major seat that can be filled and major role that can be assumed is claimed by targ-tower blood.

• laena velaryon the lady of driftmark

when her brother laenor flees to live freely with his lover in essos, laena velaryon becomes lady of driftmark. she is happily married to carter stark and they have twins, baela and rhaena.

• aegon inheriting old town

hobert hightower had no sons. he had two daughters that he had had not named his heir’s. when he fell ill and later died, his titles passed to his brother, otto. otto leaves king’s landing — and his position as hand — to assume his role as lord of old town. he names his son, ser gwayne hightower, his heir. when ser gwayne passes away unexpectedly of a burst belly, otto hightower names aegon targaryen his heir. despite never having a desire for any kind of power, aegon accepts this responsibility and moves with his wife, calla, onto a farm in old town where they live contently as lord and lady when otto eventually passed away.

• the dragon-like dragon-lords

a family rich with blood magic passed down from before the doom, the dragon-lords of house targaryen are eerily similar to their fire-breathing counterparts. in the way they walk, in the way their eyes gleam, in the way they talk, in the way they react. if dragon’s are seen as gods, targaryen’s have to then be something divine, too, for targaryen is a dragon in human skin. and that is why it is their house that sits the iron throne.

• the targaryen bond

targaryens bond romantically with each other as dragons do. they mate for life. whether it clicks instantly or is a bond developed over time, targaryens are drawn to each other like flames and will burn together until their flames burn out. binding their blood through marriage is tradition born from the desire to be whole. wholeness for the dragon-born can only be found in their targaryen counterpart. a silver-haired soulmate born of the same fire and blood.

within hotd ocverse, targaryen parents imprint on their children. in a family that infamously marries brothers to sisters, uncles to nieces, and cousins to cousins, the bond between a targaryen parent and their child is the only true, pure, familial bond there is due to the fact that they imprint on their children.

• the loss of aemond’s eye

the day aemond targaryen had been born, a green egg was placed beside him. when it hatched, a vibrant green dragon was his for the claiming once he was of age. cyprus, he named it. his green monster. cyprus was a known trouble-marker in the dragon pit. green dragons had bitter temperaments and cyprus was no exception. at 10 years old, aemond targaryen was allowed to claim his dragon.

all it took was one second. only for one second, aemond had let his guard down. that was all the time cyprus needed to lash out as the chain around his neck annoyed him too greatly. if aemond had been standing any closer, perhaps his face would been torn off. the gods must’ve been watching out for him. he was just far enough that only one of cyprus’ razor sharp claws wounded him.

he had claimed his dragon.

but his dragon had claimed his eye.

• hand of the king

when otto returned to old town, lyonel strong assumed the position for a short period of time. viserys wished to make daemon his hand, but daemon was busy tending to his army of children and running the city watch. once the kids were a bit older and the stress of terrible twos after terrible twos lessened, he assumed the role of hand of the king. lyonel went returned back to harrenhall and ser harwin strong took over commanding the city watch.

• the hand(s) of the queen

when rhaenyra was crowned queen, she named rhaenys targaryen her hand. together, they were a steadfast duo for many years. when rhaenys passed away, rhaenyra then named alicent hightower to be hand of the queen. alicent accepted gratefully and advised rhaenyra through the rest of her reign faithfully.

(Though mumrik is a non-cannon name made by the fandom referring to the species of the Joxter and his son Snufkin, which I believe is derived from Snufkin’s Swedish name.) I am based off of the Joxter, whom has inhuman characteristics so it’s kind of important.

Ok Saeran AE good ending dump, here are some random thoughts

The president plot was ended really underwhelmingly, but I'm glad that although Saeran chose to forgive him, the writers are aware this isn't something anyone can do and let saeyoung continue hating him. Honestly, forgiving or not forgiving him aside, I just didn't like the way they made the president go 'ah.. you're right maybe I am a lonely bad guy' LIKE NO WAY THAT ASSHOLE CARES ABOUT THAT, I couldn't take any dialogues seriously

First of all. Why the fuck is jumin han a politician all of a sudden 😭 And like, forget being a politician, he is a candidate for presidency??????? Am I reading it right?? How exactly..???

Anyway I FORGOT ABOUT YOOSUNG AT PATISSIER AWWWW It's so nice to see him find himself even if this is saeran's route! You're doing so good love <3 I was gonna say it doesn't make sense that they made him chase his patissier dream when in his own route he thinks about why he wants to become a vet and decides to go that way, but I realized, since another story is 2 years before the casual one I guess he felt more free about leaving his medical studies 😭 he was able to change his path more easily because he just started school, and also he doesn't have a lover like mc in korea unlike his route so that might also affect his choices. But I think he's happy in either ending so I'm glad <33

They did well with Yoosung but. why didn't Jaehee get the same treatment. I don't get it. They were clever enough to remember other characters' goals and worries and made them happy in this AE, except for Jaehee. I wish they made her leave her position too, since Jumin Han is now involved with politics it could be the perfect excuse for Jaehee to stop being his assistant. I'm guessing that this is also because AS is 2 years earlier, which means Jaehee hasn't suffered in her job enough to leave yet, and she probably doesn't have the money to open a coffee shop anyway (she isn't even into coffee professionally yet although she said she was interested a bit) But idk I wish they left us a clue that Jaehee will also get to find her happiness in the future 😭😭

Another thing I'm confused about is that where the hell does saeran get money from 😭😭 how are we 'lovey dovey at some place romantic'😭 Saeyoung probably has more than enough money so he might have forced Saeran to have it all lol that's the only explanation I can think of. In the alternate ending Saeran has a greenhouse (considering that he said himself to be careful of people raising herbs in the wild I find this funny but well ofc it's the dream job for saeran) but I'm not sure what we're supposed to be doing in this ending lol

Hello y'all ! I wanted to draw some characters for today but I'm preparing my driving license exam (it's litteraly after tomorrow djajzjjd) so I don't have a lot of time. Decided to continue on color studies !

Pretty proud of the clementine and the plum. It's looking very great and I'm in love with the color orange, it's giving me so much joy. The raspberries however... I know it doesn't look good but I hate doing details like, drawing a lot of tiny individual spots... Uh, not for me. Still posting it !

I'll try to draw something else today, enough of colors. 🕷️

Lost and Found Children

The Magician’s Protegee

Both of these stories are near and dear to my heart. Due to life obligations like school in the past, work, convention/merch schedules, I unfortunately haven’t progressed in these stories as I would have liked over the years. My dream is to one day create stories that impact people, as other people’s stories have changed me.

LOST AND FOUND CHILDREN

Synopsis: A search for their missing parents lead twins Flynn and Nate to fall into a deep darkness, unraveling secrets about their family and the country they once trusted.

Lost and Found Children is a story about mystery, overcoming trauma, blood family vs found family, the fear of growing up even in adulthood, the fear that you are not who you wished to grow up to be. The characters explore their identities in a post-war torn society, and witness their love being tested in that wildly changing world.

The story explores the horrors of war, and is also a study on the horrors of child abuse and when child rearing is left in the wrong hands, which can have devastating lifelong consequences. More importantly, it is a story about how love persists despite all odds.

Fun trivia:

The story has changed settings many times, from a tragic Victorian familial drama, to a modern school mystery, a 1920s crime drama, now it’s a historical fantasy.

This is a story I’ve been writing since I was 13 years old. The current iteration is from 2019, and I started revamping it as part of a school project. As it is a very old story that I literally grew up with, revamping it seriously has been a huge task, finding difficulty in deciding whether I should remove, keep, or add things like themes and characters. As of right now, a number of characters are still very much unrefined!

Flynn and Nate are not actually my oldest OCs.

Inspirations:

Growing up, I consumed a lot of Japanese media, and I mix what I learn from real world history with series that have impacted me a lot, like Fullmetal Alchemist, Pandora Hearts, Violet Evergarden. I draw influences from these periods: the industrial revolution in England & the west, late 1800s England, and early 20th century American history, especially the interwar period.

For the character designs, I'm inspired by historical fashion and JRPG aesthetics. My aim is to design them more simply and more humbly (a la Ryoko Kui style), but I still try for a whimsical old world look, bordering on fantastical. I do want a bit more steampunk look to my story moving forward, and that's an aesthetic I need to experiment with and study in my artwork a lot more often.

THE MAGICIAN’S PROTEGEE

Synopsis: In a distant, idyllic future where robots and humans coexist - a healthcare android lives day to day with his adoptive daughter, patients, and their ragtag android and human friends.

The story is a light-hearted, slow-paced, slice of life series - but it will also deal with complex topics like artificial intelligence, existentialism, and the fear of outliving the people you care about the most. THE MAGICIAN'S PROTEGEE IS UNDER HIATUS. (as of Nov 2023)

Fun trivia:

This story used to be about the Victorian occult (hence the title), also about a doctor who saves people from the ghouls that plagued Victorian society. However, without a greater purpose to the story, and only using the setting as a cool backdrop, it was a "monster of the week" series that I didn’t have any interest in writing. I scrapped the Victorian setting, in favour of writing a fantasy world I could fully have control of. It’s very different from LaFC, but it’s also a story I wish to tell from my heart. LaFC is like, the moody night story, and TMP is the sunny day story.

The current iteration is from 2020, also developed for a school project. As I was much older (than 13 haha) when creating this series, I had a pretty clear image of the story and its themes compared to writing LaFC.

Inspirations:

The inspiration for the world building comes from series like Eureka Seven, Kino's Journey, and Aria (Kozue Amano). I also draw a lot of inspiration for world building and writing from American post WWII/cold war society and culture, especially the boom in science fiction and spy fiction. I also take inspiration from early-mid 20th century Hong Kong, China, and Japan for worldbuilding and setting - their visual motifs, response to western technology and changing attitudes and culture.

Welp I wanted to draw my newest OC, Astrid (introduced here) but unfortunately my Cintiq needs a new adapter 😑 so no drawing until I can get another one sobs

A little bit about Astrid:

Her family name is Piperita which comes from the scientific name for the peppermint plant 🌱 Given she is a healer and has minty hair, it seemed like a good fit lol

She is in her early 20s like the rest of the main (human) cast in 'Her Devoted Shield' but she looks very youthful and is smol (5’0) so people often think she’s younger than she is. she is a smol angel and must be protected

Astrid was born and raised in the Rose Queendom to a family of tea sommeliers (fancy term for a tea specialist) who run several stores throughout the Queendom. She grew interested in herbal medicine and medical treatment from a young age. She worked incredibly hard to study to become a healer mage in the capital city once she discovered her talent for healing magic.

As mentioned in Chapter 1, she met Petra and Tai a couple of years before the current events when Petra’s cause brought her to the Rose Queendom and they became a team rather quickly. Astrid acts as their medic giving them and the fae they rescue support.

Specialties: healing magic, first aid, herbal remedies along with modern pharmaceutical knowledge, and making a mean cup of tea

Personality/Quirks: not shy but very soft spoken until she either gets really excited/distressed or goes into ‘work mode’, giggle-snorts often (tries to hide it but fails miserably), very nurturing and understanding, will not tolerate her patients/friends/family not taking care of themselves (woe unto ye if ye ain’t staying hydrated or taking ur meds), looks/sounds like the sweet sister type but is definitely the den mother type when need be. Side note: I feel that this fic is going to be a bit OC heavy because (to my knowledge) we don't know a whole lot about Briar Valley or the current royal family, or really anything aside from what is said by the canon characters or what we see in Lilia's dream in-game. Also I don't want to wait 100 more years for the game to finish Chapter 7 before I write this cuz damn. So basically, I'm gonna be filling in many gaps with my executively made decisions. To make it a little easier to keep track of all the people, I'm going to start making mini bio posts about them here so hopefully anyone who reads Her Devoted Shield isn't like "why are there so many made up people and things and who the hell are they?!" lol

The physics homework in question was not really physics, we had to read/ listen to the "This is water" speech. And I find that to be very refreshing and it shows that the teacher actually cares about teaching us not only strictly physics. It was basically about main character syndrome. Idk I resonated with it. But I have been doing that (choosing what to think) since I was 10, so...

I legitimately have so much to do. I basically have no free time :/ And I can add an "in depth" geo presentation into my plan now. I will complain on here because it´s the only place I can do that.

But I somehow enjoy it. There is a positive aspect to it. I feel very, uhm, challenged? I rationally know that I will do great, so I enjoy the process? It`s like sisyphus, BUT I know the stone will stay on top at the end. Wait that just takes away the whole point of the myth. Anyway.

I feel so incredibly comfortable at school. It`s been a safe space lately. My friend group has changed a lot, but now I finally feel content. And the current workload is an additional way of escapism :) Facing my problems? Nah, let´s study :))
