i think im not a fan of what dc keeps doing with jason because they keep having him, the abused, become an abuser in some way shape or form. and the classism they don't want to talk about (i am being so for real there is a genuine problem of both writers and readers who do not understand jason's background and it pissed me off so bad because it always shapes their opinion of him in the wrong way and they don't care to even try to listen). and how if they were going to have him come back they should have had delved into his identity crisis and the inherent horror of coming back but not knowing how or why or what to do about it and not knowing what you were doing while dead and having to deal with time jumping forward on you and the fact that you will never get the time back and no one will he the same as they were before you died and how isolating and lonely that would be. and they also definitely weren't prepared for the fact that jason was grieving his life and his death and his hopes for his mother and his dad who didn't get there in time and the dc writers are fucking cowards. which brings me to my next point: why do we keep listening to them about shit because they are quite literally always fighting with each other and projecting their own personal biases into characters (i.e. making them worse than they are/2 dimensional/trying to make them iredeemable so their favorite character gets to shine) and also they are all freaks of nature with a consistent problem of being God Awful People who why would we trust them with these characters. jason todd they don't get you like i do

but nothing annoys me more than when Caleb gets all the credit for Essek's redemption arc, or when Essek's relationship with Caleb is automatically placed on a pedestal above his friendship with the rest of the Mighty Nein.

because it is straight up untrue. it wasn't even Caleb that did most of the legwork reaching out to Essek, it was Jester. Yes, their magic lessons, and Caleb's understanding went a long way towards showing Essek that he could change, but Jester was the one who consistently and repeatedly reached out to him. I am of the firm belief that without Jester, the Mighty Nein would never have gotten past Essek's initial standoffishness.

And furthermore, Caleb was Essek's friend first. I don't think it's ever been confirmed, but IMO most of Essek's initial attraction to Caleb was 1) academic 2) performative, and any genuine physical or romantic attraction didn't start developing until post-reveal. I'm not even convinced Essek was romantically interested in Caleb, or at least able to identify it as such, by the END of the campaign. Essek values Caleb primarily as a friend and any romance on top of that is a bonus.

Essek's relationship with Caleb is not inherently more important than his friendship with the rest of the Mighty Nein just because they're dating. He loves all of them, and expresses that multiple times at the end of CR2. It was their friendship that changed him, not his interest in Caleb. Caleb values the Mighty Nein's friendship more than whatever budding romance he had with Essek. Essek's entire life doesn't, nor should it revolve around Caleb! Caleb is an important part, yes, but he values and needs the love he receives from the rest of the Mighty Nein just as much.

As someone who's aro/ace-spectrum and has little to no interest in romance, every time I see Essek's relationship to the Mighty Nein reduced to his relationship with Caleb, it feels like a slap in the face. It validates my deepest fear that I'm just an accessory in my friends' lives, and that no matter how much I love them or what I do for them, I'm inevitably going to be discarded when someone they want to date comes along.

People will watch 500+ hours of a show that emphasizes over and over the importance of friendship and platonic love then turn around and reduce it to romance alone.

One of my favorite parts of phase 2 (and indeed one of the few moments I resonated with IDW Prowl) was when the neutrals were coming back to Cybertron and Prowl said that he refused to let Autobots be pushed aside and overruled after they were the ones who fought for freedom for 4 million years (the exact wording escapes me atm).

And I mean, that resentment still holds true even once the colonists come on bc like. As much as it's true that Cybertron's culture is fucked up, and as funny as it can be to paint Cybertronians as a bunch of weirdos who consider trying to kill someone as a common greeting not important enough to hold a grudge over.... The colonists POV kind of pissed me off a lot of times, as did the narrative tone/implications that Cybertronians are forever warlike and doomed to die by their own hands bc it just strikes me as an extremely judgemental and unsympathetic way to deal with a huge group of people with massive war PTSD and political/social tensions that were rampant even before the war?

Like, imagine living in a society rife with bigotry and discrimination where you get locked into certain occupations and social strata based on how you were born. The political tension is so bad there's a string of assassinations of politicians and leaders. The whole planet erupts into an outright war that leads (even unintentionally) to famine and chemical/biological warfare that destroys your planet. Both sides of the war are so entrenched in their pre-war sides and resentment for each other that this war lasts 4 million years and you don't even have a home planet any more. Then your home planet gets restored and a bunch of sheltered fucks come home and go "ewww why are you so violent?? You're a bunch of freaks just go live in the wilderness so that our home can belong to The Pure People Who Weren't Stupid And Evil Enough To Be Trapped In War" and then a bunch of colonists from places that know nothing about your history go "lol you people are so weird?? 🤣🤣 I don't get why y'all are fighting can't you just like, stop??? Oh okay you people are just fucked up and evil and stupid then" ((their planets are based on colonialism where their Primes wiped out the native populations btw whereas the Autobots and OP in particular fought to save organics. But that never gets brought up as a point in their favor)) as if the damage of a lifetime of war and a society that was broken even before the war can just magically go away now that the war is over.

Prowl fucking sucks but he was basically the only person that pointed out the injustice of that.

And then from then on out most of the characters from other colonies like Caminus and wherever else are going "i fucking hate you and your conflicts" w/ people like literal-nobody Slide and various Camiens getting to just sit there lecturing Optimus about how Cybertronians are too violent for their own good and how their conflicts are stupid, with only brief sympathetic moments where the Cybertronians get to be recognized as their own ppl who deserve sympathy before going right back to being lambasted.

Like I literally struggled to enjoy the story at multiple points because there was only so much I could take of the characters I knew and loved being raked over coals constantly while barely getting to defend themselves or be defended by the narrative so like. It was just fucking depressing and a little infuriating to read exRID/OP

new race weekend , and ofc logan’s car is vibrating / porpoising again !!! lmao because of course williams can’t get him a new car yet with the upgrades and get them working !!!! it’s actually insane how he always gets the shittiest luck ever during race weekends . and it pisses me off so bad because ?? not only are they letting his car be crap and giving him the worst circumstances possible , but they’re also not telling anyone about it during the debriefs on instagram . it’s always logan who has to bring attention to it , but of course no one listens to him or the haters claim he’s “making excuses” when ?? they’re fully valid concerns ??? like what the fuck do you MEAN his car’s upgrades didn’t work so they took them away and they said nothing ??

and now his car is even worse off than before because he’s porpoising like fucking crazy ?? they had him on softs , switched to mediums thinking maybe it had something to do with the tyres , but nope !! still bouncing like crazy !! and for those who don’t know , porpoising in an f1 car is bad because it can cause the car to be unreliable and decrease performance , so of course he’s not gonna be doing too great because THE CAR IS FUCKING BOUNCING UP AND DOWN !!!! and yet what does this man do ? he gives the performance of a lifetime and gets into sq2 with a shit car . y’all i am SO PROUD OF HIM . HE DID SO WELL . HE IS STARTING P15 IN A CAR THAT DOESN’T HAVE THE UPGRADES , IS OVER WEIGHT , AND WAS PORPOISING . he’s doing so well despite the crap conditions he’s under currently and that makes me so insanely happy for him . he genuinely deserves the best , and to see him getting to sq2 honestly gives me so much hope for the whole race weekend .

but genuinely , it's so crazy that they still haven't been able to fix his car and get the upgrades to work . and it's genuinely infuriating because it makes you wonder if he's not getting the upgrades because they genuinely can't get them (due to funding , not having the time / engineers , etc.) or if they're just . not giving them to him just because . and with how he's being treated recently it's making me think that and it's infuriating that i even have to begin thinking about things like that . because it SHOULDN'T be that way . at all , whatsoever .

but on the bright side , logan seems confident and happy in what is coming for the future , and i am sticking with that positivity . he seems happy and that makes me happy . i know he knows what he's doing and where he goes i go !! :) and he did so amazing in sprint quali today ? like i know it's just for the sprint race , but he got into sq2 !!! and is starting 15th !!! that's fucking amazing all things considered ? he's absolutely killing it and that makes me so happy and proud of him . i'm actually looking forward to the sprint and to quali tomorrow to see how he does :3 if i think of anything else / when i rewatch sprint quali tonight to see if i missed anything else then i'll post again :) praying nothing drastic (negative) happens between now and tomorrow !!!

all in all , hopefully the sprint race and quali go well tomorrow ,, i'm confident he'll make us all proud <3
