This has nothing to do with anything- but like,

Y'know how in Beetlejuice, the Deetz's (mostly Delia and Otho) COMPLETELY change/redecorate (really, destroy) the Maitland's BEAUTIFUL home??

Their devastation at seeing their house change so much, is EXACTLY how I feel about people (millennials) who remodel classical homes, and make them the most boring, disgusting, lifeless piles of trash I have ever seen.

It almost makes me wish that every house these kinds of people "remodel" also be haunted, and the ghosts not only make them question their life choices, but also help them to restore the home back to the way it was.

(A Christmas Carol was really onto something, we should make all rich people be haunted, and then retroactively change their ways because of said ghostly intervention.)
