Top 10 Media that deserve a reboot
Now, this list might be controversial to some, but hear me out. As an artist and storyteller, I don't believe in bad ideas. Just badly executed ideas. I am going to list 10 media that I do believe had potential, still have potential and had great plot ideas as well as characters behind them, but could have been better. In fact, I believe they deserve another chance because the medias themselves were not bad. They were just done bad, but as the remake of Resident 2, 3 and 4 have shown us, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Note that there are also spoilers ahead and I will not include the Acolyte on this list because it still ongoing and I will not list a media that isn't finished yet. That isn't fair.
Tumblr media
1- The Mummy (2017) - This adaptation of the Mummy had potential as it was frightening, it had a good plot and the idea of it being the doorway to a bigger universe was good buildup. Also, this take on the Mummy was the stuff of nightmares in all the right ways. I mean, even visually, she was frightening especially with those trademark eyes. I loved that. However, I find they did too much, too fast with hinting at a bigger universe and should have focused solely on the Mummy. With that said, if you just fix that and clean up the other mistakes, it could succeed where the first try failed. Maybe even succeed at finally opening up the door to that bigger monster universe we never got to see.
Tumblr media
2- The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - I have not given up on Star Wars nor shall I because it still giving us new stuff that is that is good or at the very least, has good potential such as the Clone Wars, Rebels, Andor and The Bad Batch. In fact, even the sequel trilogy itself had potential, but it's biggest mistake in my opinion was that it chose the wrong character to be the hero. It should have Finn not Rey. In fact, I think Rey should have gone down the path of the Sith with Kylo Ren being a red herring big bad. It's second biggest mistake is was the choppy storytelling. The three films did not feel cohesive and the lack of respect for legacy characters was not very nice. I would not have killed off Han, split up Han and Leia, and so on. It needs a reboot with some tweaking.
Tumblr media
3- Spider-Man 3 (the Raimi films) - This one makes me sad because it was not bad, but the forced inclusion of Venom really did leave a mark on it (no pun intended). Even Sam Raimi knew that including him in the film was a bad idea, but his hand was forced. In all fairness, the characters acting out of character didn't help either especially when Peter kissed another girl for publicity. Peter Parker would never do that especially when intending to marry Mary Jane. If this film was rebooted the way Raimi really wanted it to be, it would not only be great, but give this series the jumpstart to continue onto the plans he had for his Spider-Man film series.
Tumblr media
4- Marvel's Spider-Man (2017 cartoon) - I have another article that explores in detail everything wrong with this cartoon, so to keep it brief, it introduced many great fresh ideas that I loved such as turning Harry Osborne into a hero, making Doc Conners into a bad guy from the get-go, the first cartoon introduction of Miles Morales, great story arc ideas and more. However, I find that the story's downfall is that was too watered down and kid friendly. This cartoon should have been aimed at older teens, Peter Parker should have been the focus and the ONLY Spider with crossovers being put to a minimum, taking its time with the storytelling, less humor, more grit and seriousness, making Doc Ock into an adult, and eliminating that gifted school altogether. Spider-Man needs his own cartoon more than ever, but one where he is shown as a hero not a clown.
Tumblr media
5- The Walking Dead TV Series - I have great memories about this show and I was cool with it not following the comic. In some ways, that was its strength, but after season 3, the show lost its way. It stopped being emotion driven, the human element was gone and character development as well as relationship development was gone. Not to mention, the seasonal rot (pardon the pun) began to show. I think this show's greatest downfall was that it went on for too long and should have stopped while it was ahead. With that said, it deserves a reboot where it can retold and remain polished and well written from beginning to end.
Tumblr media
6- The Incredibles 2 - I love the Incredibles in general. However, the sequel... it's a mixed bag. I like that the story was continuing, I liked Screen Slaver and I liked that the world was being explored further, but I did not like that it was just a sub-par retelling of the first film while featuring Elastigirl instead of Mr. Incredible. Don't get me wrong, I love Elastigirl/Helen Parr, but I think the way the Incredibles should have continued (as mentioned in another article I wrote once) was as a TV series where the characters age and develop. I mean, who wouldn't love a family sitcom-superhero TV series? Continuing the story is a must, but with new plots and having the story actually progress.
Tumblr media
7- Every Pirates of the Caribbean film after the first - Like the Incredibles, the first film was perfect and having the story continue was a genius idea, but it should have continued as a TV series. I love Davey Jones and Jack having his own adventures, but I did not like how the character unlikable especially Jack Sparrow. I admit he is a pirate at the of the day, but he was one with a good heart. By the end of the series, he was a horrible person and I didn't like that. In many ways, I wasn't even sure if I liked any of the characters with how they became in the end. Moreover, Barbossa should have remained dead. Period. That doesn't mean this franchise doesn't deserve a reboot. It does and the characters should have developed in a way that makes them likeable. Maybe even have Jack grow up a little. There are so many things you can do with pirates.
Tumblr media
8- Every Robocop media that came after the first film - Hear me out please with this one. I find that all of the sequel media of Robocop had great idea and concepts that could have worked, and still would work. Even the remake had some good points. The problem is, all of them could have been better. Even the video game was a lot of fun, but from a storytelling point of view, it too had the same problem all of the other media did. The plot was not progressing and Robocop/Alex Murphy would keep regressing as a character back into acting like a robot. Robocop needs a reboot sequel where the story actually goes on and all the progress he made as a man in the first film gets carried over to the next chapter. A good example are the comics, but even them too... they fall into the trap of the story being stuck. I want to see a sequel where the world of Robocop actually moves on and where things happen beyond Robocop just saving the day. Most importantly, I would reboot the sequel media as an episodic TV series. Not a film. Alex Murphy's journey is too complex and long to be told in just one or two movies.
Tumblr media
9- Batman Beyond - I can't say there was much wrong with this series. I think it was pretty flawless and Terry McGinnis did indeed come into his own as the next Batman. My only complaint about it is how it ended. Terry McGinnis does not need to be the convoluted genetically modified son of Bruce Wayne. It defeats the whole purpose of him being his own Batman and own man in general. I think Terry should remain unrelated to Bruce and for their bond to just spiritually be foster father and foster son. It was just fine like that. If I also had to find another thing wrong with this series is that... it ended too suddenly and too soon. I would love to see Terry don the Batman identity again. He was cool and I miss him. Plus, there is still so many things that remained unresolved.
Tumblr media
10 - Spider-Man: One More Day - It is quite obvious what went wrong with this storyline. It not only retconned Peter and MJ's marriage and family, it retconned their adulthood and character development. After that, the story of Spider-Man in the comics has just never been the same. While presenting a story where Aunt May was dying and Peter was faced with the choice of saving her at the cost of erasing his new life or keeping his new life while accepting Aunt May passing on was a good idea... having Peter choose to save Aunt May and give up his new life he worked so hard to build was a mistake. Rather than retconning this comic, I think rebooting it with a much better message would fix everything for Spider-Man and the Spider-Man community in general. Just when Spider-Man is about to make the deal with Mephisto, Aunt May herself catches wind of what Peter is going to do and, like in the video games, stops him from making the selfish decision of only saving her. She explains to Peter while getting ill is not ideal, she is old to begin with and even then, got to experience many wonderful things and got to see him grow up and get married. Plus, erasing his life with MJ wouldn't just negatively impact his life, but also MJ's and the lives all those he touched around him. Aunt May would convince Peter that her life alone is not more important the many lives that would get changed without consent. She has accepted that her time has come and that both Peter and MJ must accept it too with grace and not let any devil tempt them to do otherwise. In the end, Peter and MJ turn down Mephisto's deal which does result in a fight which Spider-Man wins with help. It also ends with Aunt May succumbing to her illness and dying, but her soul is at peace and as much as everyone is heartbroken by her passing, Peter and MJ see all the friends surrounding them in their time of mourning and accept that allowing this to happen was the right thing to do. Aunt May was important to them, but so is everyone else who is still here with them, everything they made together and everything that is going to happen after. It also ends with MJ discovering that she is pregnant which drives the point home all the more.
And that's my list. What do you think?

Everytime I think about Superior Spider-man V3 and how it ended I remember Superior is just hanging out in Japan teaching middle schoolers
Other doodles and some rambling below the cut (spoilers too)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like to think about post-canon stuff for Octo-girl, this is probably cause I used to be on the Batman and robin side of comics but I like to think Otoha applied Spider-Man logic (great power = great responsibility) to a degree, cause Otto just left this 14 (I THOUGHT SHE WAS LIKE-12?? NOBODY LOOKED THAT PUNY AT 14) year old kid with high tech mechanical arms that few can operate? You can’t tell me the kid who got into this situation because of selfless behavior isn’t gonna be doing a little vigilantism on the side, begrudgingly condoned by her teacher/instructor or whatever.
They’d totally piss off Big Hero 6 or whoever the hell else is stationed in Tokyo. Just some niche hero who used to be stationed in San Fran that disappeared one day for like 5 years (pretty sure the superior ock suit was last seen in 2017/18-ish), and some 14 year old girl following him around keeping him from murdering carjackers. Both obviously using tech made by a known supervillain who has tried to kill most of the population.

Note
do you have any dickbabs reading recommendations (especially if they're babs focused)? I read batgirl year one and some nightwing too, but I would love to delve deeper into their relationship
thank you sm in advance 🙏
They just don’t do slow burn in comics like Dickbabs anymore ♥️
If you’re coming right off batgirl year one (masterpiece. Redefined my life. Forever altered my brain) I definitely recommend you read Nightwing Year one as well, (starts at issue #101 of Nightwing (1996)
In this list I have included everything I can, but If I missed anything significant please feel free to let me know!
Pre-Crisis:
Tumblr media
Detective Comics (1937): #359
The Batman Family (1975): #1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20

Batman Chronicles (1996): #9
Some of the best and most beautiful dickbabs moments come from birds of prey, and they give a great look into Babs’ side of things too! I recommend reading Bop and Nightwing alongside each other (If you can!) And I alos recommend you read some Batman arcs like Cataclysm, No Man’s Land and Bruce Wayne, Murderer? They show Dick and Babs working together and with the batfam. Fun Fact and slight spoiler for the ending of No Man’s Land, The ending scene where Dick and Helena randomly kiss was supposed to be between Dick and Babs, but someone messed up, and Rucka kinda just thought Dick was a horndog so no one fixed it 💔 there is still some good Dickbabs moments within that arc tho
Birds Of Prey (1999): #8, 19, 20, 23-61, 71, 76, 86
Robin (1993): #71
Gotham Knights: #17, 18, 26, 30, 32, 34, 35, 36, 42, 43
Harley Quinn (2000): #10-12
DC One Million (1998): #1 , 3
DC Universe Holiday Bash (1997): #2
Batman: Black Mirror (they aren’t together in this but it’s still important reading for their relationship imo and a fascinating/thrilling Dick!bats story with lots of Oracle besides)
Nightwing Annual 2 (for the conclusion of the proposal from Nightwing #117)
Li’l Gotham (2013): #1, 7, 10, 17

Deaths of Tim Drake
Part of the Batfam Death Project.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Tim is wrong. At the time of the above panel (Robin War 1, 2015), Tim had died twice. To be fair, though, this being New 52 where Tim was never even actually Robin, they have presumably unhappened or, at least, been forgotten. (However, current canon is that all timelines have happened, so they still count.)
Tim has died three times and visited an afterlife twice. There are also a further three occasions when he might have arguably died, though it is not shown on panel.
Total time dead: a few days.
Verifiable deaths
1. Killed by the Joker (Emperor Joker, 2000)
Tim was killed by the Joker after Joker stole reality-altering powers from Mxyzptlk and remade the universe to his liking.
Tumblr media
By the look of his corpse he was shot several times in the chest, possibly with a machine-gun.
Time dead: At least a few days. By the look of the corpses, Dick died before Tim – his body is noticeably more bloated – but neither has been dead more than about a week or two. On the other hand, Joker has powers over reality here, so he could have them appear at whatever stage of decomposition he wants.
2. Drowned in Blüdhaven (Robin 2:145, 2006)
Tim drowned in a water attack by a villain called Monsoon during an attack on Blüdhaven by a large number of meta villains, just hours before Blüdhaven was bombed by Chemo.
Tumblr media
He was resuscitated by Laura Fell, the Warlock’s Daughter (his school friend Darla returned from the dead), who says she used CPR (the resuscitation is not shown on-page).
Tumblr media
Of course, the person who gave her the CPR that didn’t help when she died was Tim, so that’s a hell of a thing to bring up just now.
Time dead: unclear, but probably in the order of minutes – Laura is grabbing him and pulling him out as he’s losing consciousness, so it can’t be long.
3. Electrocuted by Evil Future Tim (Detective Comics 1:966–967, 2017)
Tim’s Evil Future Batman Self (pulled from the future by Dr Oz) helped Tim escape Dr Oz’s extradimensional prison, where they were both imprisoned. When they got back to Gotham, Evil Future Batman Tim incapacitated Red Robin Tim with a powerful electric shock so he could go and kill Batwoman without interference.
Tumblr media
Tim staggered to a nearby hospital, removing the more recognisable parts of his Red Robin outfit (which at this point in time actually looks just like his Robin outfit) on the way, and collapsed in the doorway. His heart stopped and he had to be revived by defibrillation.
Tumblr media
Time dead: a minute or two at most.
Bonus extra deaths
(Implied, inferrable, ambiguous and arguable deaths)
1. Possibly died briefly during his splenectomy (Red Robin 5, 2009)
As Red Robin, Tim got stabbed in the spleen, and almost died from blood loss. He was picked up and treated by the League of Assassins, and woke up next to a Lazarus Pit. He was told, however, that he had not been resurrected, nor been submerged in the Pit for healing, but had only undergone surgery.
Tumblr media
That may be so. It still leaves open the possibility that Tim did briefly die on the operating table and was resuscitated by more normal medical processes. It’s also possible that the White Ghost was lying by omission and, even if Tim wasn’t submerged in the Pit, some Lazarus Water was involved in the operation.
Time dead: Maybe a minute or two, if anything.
2. Arguably died when he was shot by a hundred drones at once (Detective Comics 1:940, 2016)
Jacob Kane (Batwoman’s dad and Bruce’s maternal uncle) had a plan to take out members of the League of Shadows (an offshoot of the League of Assassins) with targeted drone strikes. But the drones would have potentially killed a lot of other people too. Unable to actually disable the drones, Tim managed to hack them and reprogram them to all fire on him instead.
Tumblr media
This was absolutely suicide, and it absolutely would have killed him had Dr Oz not spirited him away to his extradimensional prison. But you could argue that Tim did actually die at this point. Did he get transported just before the drones hit, or did his body get disintegrated and then reconstituted from his soul (which would count as death) in the prison?
Against the former, surely it wouldn’t have been hard for the other Bats to spot if his body had disappeared a millisecond before the lasers hit, and the panel appears to show his body beginning to disintegrate. Tim remembers the missiles hitting him.
On the other hand, when Tim manifests in the prison he is still as injured as he was before, with a swollen cheek and a bloody nose, and you’d think if his body was reformed it would come back fully healed.
Dr Oz’s answer is ambiguous.
Tumblr media
Time dead: unclear. If he died at all, it was probably for moments.
3. Probably died in Death Metal along with everyone else (Death Metal 7, 2021)
Tim probably died in battle when the Dark Multiverse invaded and destroyed all the worlds of the multiverse. All the remaining heroes came together in a hopeless fight against an army of their worst nightmares, including an apparently never-ending swarm of groblins (mindless evil Jokerised Robins led by the Robin King, an evil child Bruce Robin).
Tim’s death isn’t shown on panel and neither is his dead body, but he is definitely in the group of Bats standing ready to fight (left, next to Spoiler):
Tumblr media
As with Cass, Tim is likely to have died here, but he could have just been fighting elsewhere when we see Evil Child Bruce Robin taunt Batman over the fact that everyone is dead. In any case, everyone is fine again when Wonder Woman persuades the Creators to remake the multiverse.
Time dead: unclear; might be up to an hour, or longer if it takes longer to remake the world.
Afterlife visits
1. Pulled to the edge of the Abyss (Young Justice 1:19, 1999)
So apparently one of Greta’s (Secret’s) powers is the ability to create a portal to the Abyss – a rather horrific realm of the dead – within herself. She basically gathers people into herself to pull them in to the afterlife. She can also use this power to teleport/transport people by taking them through the Abyss – though it is not pleasant. She does this for Young Justice when Mount Justice blows up with them all inside it. In Greta’s internal portal, they experience falling into darkness, being burnt up, and being frozen and shattered. All the time, Greta is laughing cruelly.
Tumblr media
And then they get spat out into a forest in the rain.
Tumblr media
Greta is at pains to insist that she didn’t actually take them in to the Abyss itself, just the edge of it within herself. But it was still obviously absolutely nightmarish for all of them.
Tumblr media
Time in in Greta’s internal afterlife portal: moments, or an eternity.
2. In the Abyss again (Young Justice 1:48, 2002)
Anita’s dad was tortured and left to die. Anita got there just too late, and then leapt into Greta’s internal afterlife portal to try and pull him out.
Tumblr media
Ray and Slobo jumped in to get Anita back, and, after a little hesitation (unlike the others, he had been in before and knew the Horrors that awaited), Tim went in too.
Tumblr media
Like last time, Tim experiences The Horrors, but Slobo (who says he has an understanding with death) stabilises him. They, with Ray, protect Anita from bat-monsters while she tries to reach her father.
Tumblr media
Anita doesn’t get her dad back, but she does get to say goodbye to him. (This doesn’t help.) Everyone other than Anita’s dad is spat back out of Greta’s portal in the same place a short while after they left.
Time in Greta’s internal afterlife portal: a few minutes.

THE COMPLETE BATMAN BY DENNIS O'NEIL - READING ORDER
The list won't mention whether it's "a, b, c" story most of the time. Open the issues or check them on the wiki or locg to see what O'Neil wrote on them. Some issues will have a note on whether it's an a or b story.
The order here is based on release order from comiccollectorlive and counts on possible slight chronological adjustments from dcuguide.
Also, I haven't read all of it. This is kinda just me sharing what I organized for myself.
Make sure you really are reading only, and all, O'Neil stories from each of the issues. To a lot of people I believe it wouldn't matter, but to me, and some other people like me, I believe this is really important.
And please, notify me if there's anything wrong in the order, missing issues or issues that shouldn't be here.

Jon Kent (pretty much) Complete Reading Order
Tumblr media
Compiled first for my personal use and tidied up for @jonkentweek ! Goes up to June 2024 and includes every appearance of this character that I could find. I used ComicVine's archive to track these down, which is both fallible and constantly being updated, so there might be some mistakes. Also, I did my best to highlight the occasions where Jon was a significant character in a story and to skip the ones that were just a non-speaking, one-panel cameo, but those were personal judgements and your mileage might vary.
Color key (and apologies for the eye strain): Red are issues in which Jon is a central character, not just a cameo, Blue are crossover events, Orange are stories that take place in alternate universes/are non canonical
Optional stuff you can read for historical context:
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? (1997) a classic possible future story, which is, to my knowledge, the 1st time a character named Jon who is Superman’s kid appears
Son of Superman (1999) a self-contained, now AU, story about a teen Jon Kent, very classic 90s young adult comic with all the tropes that come with that, but enjoyable as the proto-iteration of Jon as an idea
Canon appearances start here
The Final Days of Superman crossover event: Superman (2011) 51-52, Batman/Superman (2013) 31-32, Action Comics (2011) 51-52, Superman/Wonder Woman (2013) 28-29 (This is the origin story of the Clark, Lois and Jon that the comics follow in Rebirth. Largely ignored by writers, as it was written to patch up New52 weirdness, but there are occasional references that might be confusing if you skip it completely.)
Convergence (2015) 5, 8
Superman: Lois and Clark (2015) 1-8 (Establishes Jon and his family in the DCU)
Superman (2016) 1-11, 13, 17-28, 30, 32-36, 38, 40-45, Special 1
Action Comics (2016) 957-972, 974-978, 980-983, 985, 987, 989-1000, 1002, 1005, 1016, 1022-1035, 1042, 1045-1048, 1050-1057, 1059-1060, Special 1, Annual 2023
Justice League (2016) 3-6, 15, 18-19, 22, 28
Trinity (2016) 1-6, 16
Super Sons (2017) 1-16
Dark Nights: Metal (2017) 3, 6

Future State: Superman of Metropolis (2021) 1-2 (Future State is another possible future, meaning that it’s not necessarily canon, but it takes place in the future of the main canon, not in a complete AU, like say, Dark Knights of Steel. Technically not necessary to understand main universe stories, but a few popular characters and characterizations were brought over to the main universe.)
Future State: Justice League (2021) 1-2

Future State: Kara Zor-el, Superwoman (2021) 1

Shazam! (2021) 1

Do you have any opinions on Batman vs Moon Knight? Not who would win in a fight because that's lame and boring, but how they compare as characters.
I'mma hit you up in a different way you weren't expecting. Because this has been sitting on my DC hidden knowledge shelf for YEARS.
(I'll get back to your original question in a bit, promise).
Let me tell you about DC's answer to Moon Knight: Ragman!
Tumblr media
He really isn't a direct parody… as far as I'm aware….But it's REALLY suspicious.
Tumblr media
He was created in 1976 by Robert Kanigher and artist Joe Kubert.
(Moon Knight first appeared in 1975 in Werewolf by Night #32.)
And Marvel and DC did these sort of 'coincidences' quite often. They'd create one character with specific traits and then the other publisher would suddenly ALSO have a new character with the same traits. They were always juuuuust different enough to not raise TOO many eyebrows.
Now, Ragman was originally an Irish character that got revised to being a Jewish character and was later connected to the Golem of Prague figure from folklore in 1991.
Ragman's suite is quite… colorful… and is actually made up of MANY different souls, which leads him to often get involved in supernatural and mystical sorts of threats. The suit will collect new souls and often pits Ragman against his suit to prevent it from just….sucking in new ones.
Now, back in the original time line, Ragman was a Vietnam vet and his suit origins changed a few times. Either way, when his suit gets a new soul, he grains their experience and abilities. Things changed again in 2017.
He's an interesting character and an interesting ability with his suit and such. Plus, he was another Jewish character in a time when this wasn't very common!
Now, unlike Moon Knight, Ragman was never a super popular character. He has persisted and they even put him in the Green Arrow show once. I think it's a case of them not settling on a solid background and then not knowing what to do with him. A similar thing could have happened to Moon Knight…. and almost did… when Marvel just couldn't decide what to do with him.
Then there was a huge thing back in the day about people complaining that Moon Knight was just a Batman rip off.
There probably still are people out there and memes where Batman and Moon Knight are compared. But honestly, it's just the friggen cape. I mean, SO MANY characters back in the day all looked the same! Menacing shadow in the dark that punches bad guys.
Now, Ragman does still pop up in things now and then. He shows up in big events and things… But I'd be surprised if a lot of people are aware of him.
Some people have also equated Ragman to having a sort of DID as well. The rational is that his suit speaks to him and he can connect to the souls trapped inside. It's not DID. But people looking to make him the DC Moon Knight push it.
He dropped off my radar over the years and I don't know what his current heritage or backstory is since the New 52 DC reboot. If anyone knows, please feel free to chip in.
I do appreciate that DC still throws him into things now and then and have refused to let him fall into obscurity, but maybe if they gave him more of a solid story and a good writer, he could really be something more.
So back to your original question. I've always loved Batman. He was my original comics love from when I was a wee kid.
A LOT of people still complain that Moon Knight is too much like Batman. And I think these people need to actually read the friggin comics for both Moon Knight AND Batman because it's so stupid to think one is like the other.
Sure, both have trauma, but man did they go about it in different ways.
I think they would respect one another if they ever did meet, though Marc is notorious for not exactly getting along well with superheros when he first meets them... (Every single time they get into a fight. Oddly enough the one time he didn't get into a fight was when he met the Punisher and they were instantly BFF.)
The thing is, Batman is a VERY interesting characters....when he has the right writer. And the same goes for Moon Knight. But Moon Knight always holds his personal issues at the front of his story. Batman holds his mask at the front of his story. You always see what Batman wants you to see, where Moon Knight has no ability what so ever to keep the mask in place. (Ironic because now he won't take the mask off and his problems have never been more front and center).
For me, the best Batman stories are when the mask slips and you see the parts of Batman that he doesn't want you to see. When the story hits you the hardest, it's a story that you remember and stays with you.
When it comes to Moon Knight, because you always see under the mask and see the issues they are dealing with, it tends to be the characters around Moon Knight that stick with you.
It is hard to compare them as characters, because they are so different, but perhaps it is the differences that defines them.
When Marc has a break down, it's public and open and honest. He builds himself up and breaks down so often. He's in a constant struggle with self identity, regret, trauma, and the past.
You don't get to see Bruce break down. But you are deeply aware of his trauma. Occasionally you get the struggle with identity, but it's more about his failure to let go of the past that rules his life.
Marc's pain is so public, and Bruce's pain isn't. But everyone KNOWS Bruce's pain. The intense loss of his parents, his childhood, and eventually his everything as he gave up his life for the cowl. They wear their capes for different reasons, but both are compelled to do it. They find their meaning in what they do.
I'm sure someone smarter than me could write a thesis on these two.

Apparently today is the day MLP: Friendship is Magic premiered 14 years ago
Now I never watched the show before I ended up sitting down with my little cousin and doing so, but it's wild to me the longevity of the show, it transcended eras
When MLP: FIM premiered its contemporaries were Star Wars The Clone Wars, Young Justice, Transformers Prime, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, Avengers Eearth's Mightiest Heroes, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, Phineas and Ferb, Batman the Brave and the Bold, etc
And when it ended, it's contemporaries were Amphibia, Gen: Lock, Harley Quinn, Infinity Train, Rick and Morty, Rise of the TMNT, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Star Wars Resistance, Transformers Cyberverse, Ducktales (2017), RWBY, Ninjago, The Amazing World of Gumball, Ben 10 (2016), etc
Not only that, but it also outlived a number of shows that released after it premiered, like Steven Universe, Ben 10 Omniverse, Voltron Legendary Defender, Gravity Falls, TMNT (2012), The Legend of Korra, Transformers Robots in Disguise (2015), Star Wars Rebels, etc some of which being successors/sequels to shows it was originally airing alongside (Star Wars The Clone Wars-Star Wars Rebels, Transformers Prime-Transformers RID2015, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien-Ben 10 Omniverse)
