cant hold my silence any longer im sorry. mako was a dick to korra in s2. i know we're having this resurgence of mako love but i could not stand the way he treated her in that season. "maybe you wouldnt have to fix things if you didnt keep messing it up" and ratting korra out to raiko and being dismissive of her and LYING to her about their breakup after he kissed asami. korra was dealing with her uncle grooming her and colonizing her home. and he treats her like this when shes confused and upset like idk. idk
#maybe i wouldnt mind so much if the mako defense didnt often come with dismissing korra's trauma#like YES mako is traumatized and going through a HELL of a lot and trying to protect the people he loves AND he was still#lowkey awful in that season#now tbf most characters were awful in that season (“unalaq effect”) but i feel like everyone gets reasons made for them except korra#sorry for my badly written post i put no effort into the grammar here#and like i UNDERSTAND WHY he lacks the ability to support korra but that doesnt change the impact he had on her!!#and i know korra threw his desk across the room which is definitely not okay or cool but like. i dont know. hes not an innocent uwu baby#either#legend of korra#mako critical#he does act better in all the other seasons though i will give him that. i just think like. this season was weird about abuse and emotional#dismissiveness#lok s2

Think about it
Imagine you have a friend who's been madly in love with that one guy ever since 4th grade, he literally went and became a lawyer just to see him again in court like it's borderline obsessive
And the guy that your friend has a crush on ALSO likes your friend but is somehow even denser about it than your friend
Then your friend looses his job and dips out of the radar for 7 years, nobody knows where he is and what is he doing
Then he comes back with a whole ass child
The child is a teenager and can't possibly add up in the timeline but that doesn't stop anybody
Maya believes it, Gumshoe believes it, Athena believes it, Godot believes it, judge believes it HELL EVEN EDGEWORTH HIMSELF IS STARTING TO BELIEVE IN THIS even tho he's 98% sure he has never slept with Phoenix

The problem with Bipper is that it's just Bill in Dipper's body. They aren't fused or merged. Dipper isn't slowly being warped or transformed. He's not even technically in his body to have a substantial protest over Bill's direction over his body.
Overall it's a very bland body sharing experience with a failing grade corruption appeal. I say this as someone who was at one point very excited by the concept of Bipper: The attraction of Bipper can and is achieved with only Bill because Bipper is just Bill on the physical plane.

Sometimes I have these moments where I'm like. I just nerd out about how neat the execution is, ya know?
In 2019, The Duffers posted a blocked out letter signed "love" with the date Will went missing.
On May 26, 2022, signing a letter "love" was just an affectionate signature.
On May 27, 2022, signing a letter "love" was inherently romantic when done, only by Mike Wheeler.
The entire letter plotline is so satisfyingly simple in structure. When Mike loves someone platonically but not romantically, he does not sign his letters to them "love". Mike did not write letters to Will. On November 6, 1983, Will Byers went missing and the upside down froze in time.
I LOVE seemingly disconnected facts. And so, naturally, I love when 5 year old tweets say "they're connected...Figure it out."
